Now a Harlequin Movie, Snowbound for Christmas!

Adrian Blackstone built a million-dollar business with hard work and determination—and by remaining professional at all times. Denying his longtime attraction to his beautiful executive assistant hasn’t been easy but it’s necessary. She’s indispensable, and he can’t stand the thought of losing her if things didn’t work out.

For more than a year, Rachel Carter has been quietly dreaming of all the ways she’ll never seduce her sexy, buttoned-up boss. She’s worked too hard to get where she is to cross that line, no matter how badly she’d like to act on her fantasies. But then a wicked snowstorm leaves them stranded in a romantic winter wonderland…

What begins as a single kiss and a few bad Santa jokes turns into a weekend full of breathless passion and hopes for something more. But with Monday comes a return to their complicated reality—and Adrian must prove that promises made are promises kept, especially at Christmastime.

Hero Adrian Blackstone (head of Blackstone Historical Renovations) and his executive assistant, heroine Rachel Carter, are at the Mount Lafayette Grand Resort Hotel (high in the White Mountains) to meet a client. But the client can’t make it due to snowy weather, so Adrian and Rachel are stranded at the hotel. They have both been attracted to each other but have always put business before pleasure. But now, in the close, cozy confines of the hotel, will they act on their attraction?

This was a pleasant and light story with a nice setting and some sexy scenes. A short read that takes place around Christmas.

Un divertido y encantador romance navideño.

Snowbound with the CEO de Shannon Stacey

Argumento:

I know what to expect when I read a romance book that takes place during the holidays: a sweet, feel-good story tempered with a bit of drama - not too much, just a tiny bit to keep things interesting - and a lovely HEA to make everything right. Ms. Stacey has managed to deliver all that in this novella, and I was a happy camper reading Adrian and Rachel's story.

The only thing that bothered me in the book was That's an overused plot device, and Ms. Stacey could have done without resorting to that predictable turn of events.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed this read. Good writing, nice setup, very likeable characters and a couple of "Triple S" (sexy, steamy and sigh-worthy) love scenes. Not too shabby for a short story. :)

Note: I received this eARC from Carina Press via NetGalley. That had no influence on my review/rating.

When Rachel finds herself snowed in at a luxury hotel with the boss she's had a crush on ever since she started working for him she finds it very hard to resist temptation. Adrian would be lost without his right hand woman at work and that's the only reason he's never made a move on Rachel before now but seeing her let her hair down outside of the office makes her impossible to resist. Will a hot weekend fling turn into something more or will Rachel be left looking for a new job on Monday morning?

Snowbound with the CEO is a short and sweet holiday novella from Shannon Stacey and I enjoyed reading it. Considering it's only about 60 pages long the author did a good job of introducing both main characters and making me root for them to get a happily ever after. I liked the chemistry between them but because they have known each other for such a long time it felt like there was more to their relationship than lust which made it easier to believe they could make a relationship successful.

The one complaint I had was the ongoing misunderstanding once they'd returned from the hotel and were back in the real world. Considering how short the story was I think I would have enjoyed the story more if they'd been adult enough to have a proper conversation and then the focus could have moved to them working out how to start a successful relationship with the added pressure of being work colleagues. There was a nice little epilogue but after the mix up I felt their issues were resolved just a little too quickly and easily for it to be completely believable.

In spite of my complaints I do think this is a nice romance and it's perfect for this time of year so if you're looking for a quick read with a bit of spice then this should be just what you need.

ARC provided by publisher through NetGalley for an honest review.

Adrian Blackstone, is a self-made man. After humble beginnings, scholarships and hard work, he is now the CEO of Blackstone Historic Renovations and highly sought after.

Rachel Carter has been Adrian's executive assistant for over a year and a half.

While snowed in, out of town for a meeting with a potential client, they both give in to their attraction for each other. But when they get home, misunderstandings and assumptions get in the way. Until Adrian or Rachel decide to say what's really in their hearts they will never have what they really want... each other.

Cute, with potential but essentially boring.

Adrian Blackstone, CEO of Blackstone Historical Renovations, and his Executive Assistant Rachel Carter, have traveled to a beautiful resort hotel in New Hampshire to meet with an important client. But when a snowstorm rolls in and the client cancels, they are stranded at the hotel when the roads become impassable. After a few drinks in the bar, their mutual attraction takes over and they spend the weekend in Adrian's room. But when they are back in civilization, both of them are unsure how the other will feel about possibly continuing their new relationship.

This was a quick read, but was very predictable. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

Falling in love with the boss is never a great idea, you could have a major good time but when it ends you could be out a job, so it is always best to steer clear and stick to keeping it professional.

For the boss of course it is a little easier, all he would lose in the deal is having to look for a new employee, so why not go for it and have a little fun.

Only if you know that you have one of the worlds best assistants you shut up, control the attractions anyway you can and get on with your work. But everyone knows that you can only resit temptation for so long, but will it be worth it or a loss you simply will not be able to come back up from again?

In the new Shannon Stacey read this is the situation Adrian and Rachel face, they want each other so badly but for the sake of keeping it clean and professional neither one gives in the the simmering attraction, that is a until moment in time leads to a kiss that in turn leads to a weekend of blazing red hot passion. But when Monday comes will they be able to move past it and go back to being just boss and assistant leaving behind the sweetest escape from reality ever to be found or will all promises be lost?

The characters of both Adrian and Rachel were great, very strong and knowledgeable with regards to what can happen if they give in which of course does not last, but it showed that as in real life there are instances that you need to keep it under control for the sake of survival but that we all also reach a point where the need to let go is stronger than the hold on control.

The backdrop settings were all very well incorporated and mirrored all the images of Christmas romance and life happening during Christmas time very beautifully. The dialogue was a little bit of powerful and emotional mixed with hot sexy heat, a definite winning combination.

I am taking away a message of life does have boundaries but when it brings up a barrier you do not want to break through for reasons that are your own, you need to know that the longer you try to stay away from it the more powerful it becomes, if the barrier block does not go away there has to be a reason for it lurking around. Tackle the barrier from a different outlook, you might find that you are meant to be on the other side of it. Life is all about taking a risk.

The author did a great job at giving as much as possible for a short read.

I recommend this read for all fans of romance with the perfect little escape romance during the Christmas season! A fun and sexy read!

Why I Read this Book: Snowbound With the CEO was just what I was in the mood for – a sweet holiday romance. Shannon Stacey has made her way to my auto-read list with her fun, and funny, contemporary romances. I look forward to reading her books.

What I Liked: Adrian and Rachel were both likeable characters. They share the same passion for home restoration and each possesses a great work ethic. Adrian wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so he had to work hard to get where he is today. And his hard work and dedication didn’t stop once he reached the top. Arrogant CEO he is not. Rachel is so good at what she does, she’s pretty much irreplaceable. Both have secret feelings for the other but neither wants to jeopardize their work relationship.

I felt the chemistry between Adrian and Rachel. Shannon Stacey does a great job of showing readers the chemistry and passion between her characters through her words, not just with Snowbound With the CEO but with all of her books.

Memorable Moment:

“I’ve been telling myself kissing you is a bad idea for a year and a half, but I’ve been lying to myself. It’s a very good idea.”

Overall Impression: Snowbound With the CEO was a drama-free office romance without any crazy complications. And the novella was wrapped up with a sweet epilogue, which I loved.

Snowbound with the CEO sounded like a super fun holiday novella, but it fell flat and lacked sparkle and personality.
I LOVE Christmas movies, but I have the most difficult time with holiday books. They just don't work for me the way holiday movies do. *sad face*

Rachel is an executive assistant to Adrian. Adrian runs a multi-million dollar business. They get stranded at a hotel due to winter weather (I love snow, don't you?). They give in to their attraction. Short and sweet.

This was my first Shannon Stacey, and I enjoyed it so much that I purchased and read two more. I enjoyed those, as well, but here's the problem; while they're sweet and engaging, well-written and with likable characters, there isn't much to them. I couldn't figure out why I simultaneously wanted to read more, but also felt empty after each one. Shannon Stacey's books are a lot like Twinkies; fun to eat while you're in the moment, but when they're gone, you're still hungry, you haven't contributed any nutrients to your body, and you feel slightly ashamed of yourself.

In Snowbound with the CEO by Shannon Stacey, Adrian Blackstone has built a million dollar restoration business with lots of hard work and determination. He went from being a poor kid to a millionaire with lots of hard work, something that he will never forget. He loves to restore homes and buildings to their original charm, but with hidden modern commodities.

Rachel Carter loves her work and restoring homes as much as her boss. The only down side is that she has been dreaming of ways to seduce her sexy boss for over a year, but she knows it’s one sided since he has never shown anything but professional interest.
Now Rachel and Adrian are up on a lodge waiting on a potential new client to chow up for a meeting. Unfortunately, a snowstorm has blown in keeping their client from being able to even leave Chicago, and leaving them stranded in the lodge without any co-workers to witness anything that may happen.

Adrian knows that he would regret loosing Rachel as his assistant more than anything, and having an affair with her would only guarantee that, not matter how much he has desired her since she started working for him. Now being alone with her he will have to find a way to keep his distance or act on the desire he has kept hidden for so long.

When he sees a sexy woman in the bar he decides to get rid of his needs with a stranger, only to find out that it’s beautiful Rachel sitting at the bar. He can’t help being drawn to her and wanting to make her laugh like the bartender did, even if the only jokes he knows are really bad. But when Rachel decides to leave for her room Adrian knows that he needs to ask her to dance and hold her in his arms at least this once. But having her in his arms will not be enough and soon he wants to kiss her. To his surprise when he tells her he is slowly guiding her to the mistletoe for a kiss, instead to of pulling away she hurries him.

The chemistry and attraction has always been mutual, and also it has been mutually hidden. Now as they act on what they have wanted for a long time, they will have to decide if this is only a weekend fling or if they can make it into something more. But misunderstandings and lack of communication can ruin both their working relationship and any possibility they have at a relationship.

If you like a fast read with sweet, hot and very straight forward romance with a little complication, don’t miss Snowbound with the CEO by Shannon Stacey.

Snowbound with the CEO is a perfect, quick winter read. It's definitely everything I look for in a novella. I also have to say that I was pleasantly surprised, this was my first Shannon Stacey book and you can bet I will be reading her in the future. What was wonderful about this book was, what I call the "sweet heat." You get the sweetness between the couple but, also some heat as well.

I know we all love an alpha man but, I think Adrian Blackstone is my new favorite type of hero. He's very hot, very sweet and extremely sexy. It was a nice break from the angsty, "he-man" routine. And Rachel Carter is everything you could ask for in a heroine. She's got the no-mess attitude but, the soft side when it comes to her man. This book serves up a heated weekend, stuck in the mountains. Yes, there's regular winter activities to do but, Adrian and Rachel would rather snuggle up with one another. While they haven't given in to their attraction before this fated trip, they have lusted for quite some time, making their eventual relationship much more explosive. And I as a reader thoroughly enjoyed every bit of their journey.

I love a good office romance, and this one definitely delivered. It may have been a bit predictable but, still enjoyable. What made it different and/or better was the characters and their demeanor. Shannon Stacey has created very lovable and likable characters that I got invested in. And let me just add that the epilogue was so lovely that I read it twice :) I'd definitely say that Snowbound with the CEO is a should-read for the holidays!

Happy Reading!

Rachel has been fighting her attraction to her big boss Adrian for months. Being an absolute professional does not allow her to show any sign of weakness towards him. Until a planned business meeting goes awry and leave them both stranded in Boston.

With nothing else to do, Adrian goes to the hotel bar considering having a one night stand. Then he sees Rachel and forgets anyone else. He has been trying to ignore his growing need for her, afraid to lose the one perfect assistant he has ever had. But enough is enough. They both finally give in.
But does months of attraction and a weekend full of sex possibly end in true and lasting love?

MY REVIEW:

Easy to read, easy to move on from.

Reading Snowbound with the CEO felt from the very beginning, like a temporary stress reliever for the holidays. Yes it is thematic, Christmas to be specific. Everything that happened to the two protagonists fall within the season, meaning the two, Adrian and Rachel, fall madly and deeply in love within a few days. Granted they have been attracted to each other for many months and have known each other as boss and an executive secretary for the same length of time, still falling IN LOVE should be more substantial, not just a sexual pull that wouldn't go away.

I have been a Shannon Stacey reader for quite awhile as evidenced by my glowing reviews of her Kowalski series, but I would have to Pass on this one.

I have no connection to either characters and since the story centered on them being snowbound, obviously there are no other characters worth mentioning.

If you want to read a Stacey authored book, i suggest you go with the fun Kowalskis and skip this one.

A really short novella that unfortunately did not give me enough in terms of a love story. While the premise was really great, albeit a little overdone, I just want more between the two characters. The majority of the book seemed all about their individual feelings and not enough interaction between the two of them. If this had been a full novel, then it possibly could have been expanded on and had more dialogue. It was almost as if the author wanted to write a full length novel, and so she started getting into their motivations, but then remembered this is only a novella and had to rush the actual interaction.
I've only read one other Shannon Stacey book before and enjoyed it, but this one was a bit of a let down.

Perhaps Shannon Stacey's style just works for me, but I really enjoyed this. Much more than I would have expected for something so short! I loved the characters and really wanted them to find there HEA! The end was a little too simple, but it worked. For me this was a lovely holiday novella and I was glad I read it!

After their trip had ended the book was ruined for me. They stepped into a different world and everything changed. Adrian was too thick headed and during the whole book Rachel seemed to want to avoid something that she wanted and it really didn't make any sense. It was short, quick and nice for a winter read

After watching the 2019 made-for-TV version of Ms. Stacey's novella, I grabbed this audiobook from Audible Escape. While I can see the basic skeleton was used for the movie, the book is a bit different from the TV version.

Rachel has worked for Adrian's company for five years, and as his assistant for the past year plus. Since we are privy to both MC's POVs, we learn that both have secret crushes on the other, but would never jeopardize their working relationship. However, when a storm leaves the pair stranded at a romantic mountain resort, sparks fly and they end up in bed together.

The story is short and sweet, the couple well-suited. But of course, when they return home before having the chance to talk about things, misunderstandings and poor assumptions lead the pair down separate roads. Luckily, Adrian decides to talk about things and the pair works out their issues.

Narration: Ms. Lexington provides a solid voice for both Adrian and Rachel, more suited for the female voices, but deepening the male parts enough to tell a difference. I needed to speed it up to 1.5x, and while it was a little fast, I liked it better than anything slower.

My Ratings:
Story: B/B-
Narration: B/B-
