THE RULEBREAKERS

Ex-cop Jake Cavanaugh lived by his own laws now. Never stop for strangers. Never trust seemingly innocent gorgeous blondes. Never get emotionally involved with a woman again.

Then along came Samantha Martin.

When Jake found her lost and afraid by the side of the road, his old white-knight complex reared its head ... and his cop instincts took over. Samantha was trouble -- and she was in trouble. Suddenly Jake was on the run and looking for answers -- fast. Because Rule Number One was broken and Number Two was getting shaky. And one more night with Sam just might leave him with no rules at all....

An okay read, the heroine Sam escapes from the people holding her captive into Jake, an ex-cop, when he hears she is an escapee calls one of his cop buddies and then sees him being shot down and finds himself framed for it.

He soon hears what happened to Sam, an award winning photographer, who on her last assignment clicked pictures for which some goons came after her, the next day she wakes up framed for murder of a federal agent and sent without trial to an asylum, she somehow manages to not take the drugs they gave her and escape to find out who.

The mystery deepens when they find out Sam is presumed dead and who she captured was a man believed to be dead. Jake helps her since he too is now involved, he is a former cop who left when he blamed himself for his partner's death, his wife left him and he started loving alcohol, so you have the angst thrown in but not much.

I didn't really love the romance that much to be honest. An okay read.
