This book is absolutely heart warming! "Alex is My Friend" is about two little boys who are very bestfriends and do almost everything together. However, Alex has major orthopedic disabilities and soon will not be able to do all the fun and active things with his friend. His friend didn't understand Alex's disability, so he took it upon himself to ask his mother and learn more. Later on, Alex had back surgery and was put on bed rest for months in an external fixator, then promotes to a wheel chair, and later he is able to walk but not run. Alex's friend was so nice to find other activities to do that He would be able to participate in. I would recommend this book to an early childhood classroom, because the illustrations would grab the children's attention and although it shares a type of disability, it allows the children toask open ended questions at the end of the book.
