The merkids hunt for hidden treasure in this Mermaid Tales adventure!
When Rocky finds a seaweed scroll that describes an abandoned pirate ship bursting with jewels, the students are tripping over their tails with excitement. There’s only one problem: the treasure is supposedly guarded by pirate ghosts! But a few “silly ghosts” aren’t going to keep prima donna Pearl away from fame, fortune, and “diamonds as big as a merman’s fist.”
The hunt is on! Pearl recruits fellow merkids Rocky and Wanda to help her track down the treasure by swimming all the way past Whale Mountain. But when they discover the pirate ship, they hear eerie moans and groans coming from within. What’s making those sounds? Could the pirate ghosts be real? And can the merkids get the jewels before becoming someone’s—or something’s—lunch?

I liked it but it was a bit scary, that's why I rated it a 2. But, I liked how Pearl tried to get the treasure. Other than it being scary, it was good. Pearl didn't get treasure herself but he helped an octopus and the octopus rewarded her with treasure so on the cover of the book it might be a picture of the treasure that Pearl received from the Octopus. It was by Debbie Dadey, book 8.
With rumors of a hidden treasure in Trident City, Pearl, Rocky and Wanda swim out to an abandoned ship in hopes of finding the pirate treasure. This is the eighth book in the Mermaid Tales series by popular author Debbie Dadey. The storyline is fairly predictable and one does not need to have read the previous books in the series to read this volume. The text is not intimidating as plenty of white space appears on the pages. The pen and ink illustrations are humorous. If you have girls who enjoy mermaid stories or school stories, you will want to purchase this series. Recommended. Grades 1 through 4.
I like this book because it scared me a little and it was funny. This book would be prefect for 7th and down to 3rd grade. If you like mermaids you might like mermaid tales. It is about a treasure chest and 2 girls and 1 boy try's to find.
