Pretty sure I've read this out of order. I mean I read all the other prequels but maybe this one would've made more sense to me if I'd already read the two main novels? I'm not sure.
It was a very brief story but it had a lot of interesting aspects- the story itself held a strong moral whilst the impact of the story sounds like it's going to have riveting effects of the Ever After Kingdom and the character of the Raven Queen.
It was a cute add on to the Ever After High franchise but I didn't think it was even worth the $2.99 I paid for it. Most everything is already in the novel.
The Tale of Two Sisters There really wasn’t much to this story. There are two sisters. One is “colorless” (unattractive) but has a good heart (butterflies dance around her head). Then there’s a beautiful sister that has an ugly personality (flies and mosquitos buzz around her head). The ugly sister gets fed up with all the insects and drags her sister to a well. She makes her lower her down just enough to make the insects fly off. Then for some unknown reason, the beautiful sister makes the ugly sister do the same, but when it’s her time to lower her into the well she gets distracted by her shadow and let's go off the rope and it starts to drop lower into the water than is comfortable. Something happens in the water with the butterflies and a glowing light and by the time the “ugly” sister comes out she’s now beautiful (magical water whose reflection makes the inside fit the out?) The real ugly one runs off and the other one returns home (im surprised the “real” ugly one didn’t try to leave her down in the well or either push her back down in the well. Cause wouldn’t that just be fitting. So the one who was beautiful all along runs home to her mother and says “Look! I’m beautiful now.” The mother says “I don’t see a difference”. It’s kind of the opposite of what happens at the end of Shrek. Someone is talking at the end about how they don’t want to follow the example of the story and do to “Betta” what the ugly sister did. So they found a way to turn the well into a portal (the sister’s kids?) By the time someone finds out they’ll be long gone.
Rate 5 It’s not a lot of this to “rate” or discusses but the message is good because it’s true. What looks good on the outside, I definitely had to learn a long time ago isn’t always the case. “Beautiful” people can be very “ugly” when you “really” get to know them for who they are. And the ones that are “average” usually make the BEST people! It’s all about what’s inside that really counts. But I wouldn't buy this because there just isn't enough of this to even be worth it.
i wonder if apple and raven were ever supposed to meet butta and bella and find more about where they went too bad they were never mentioned in the show
The story of two sisters, one selfish and beautiful, and one kind and ugly. It seemed rather predictable, but it was enjoyable anyways.
THIS MAY BE A SPOILER BUT I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S A BIG DEAL SINCE IT IS ONLY 5 PAGES
I truly loved what happened when the kind daughter had returned home after the well had made her attractive. Excited, she called to her mother to see what happened to her face. Her mother kissed her, and told her that she always looked the same to her. Its wonderful! Her mother always saw her as beautiful, and not just because she was her mother. It was very sweet. A good bedtime story for a child, or for yourself.
This one was marked as coming before the first book, but it seemed like maybe it was supposed to be either during or after the first book based on the little bit of story surrounding the tale-inside-the-story. Most of this book was a fairytale about sisters; one is good and ugly, the other bag and beautiful. There's not much else to it than that. Oh, and the mother always thought the ugly one was beautiful, as all parents apparently should.
I read this before reading the Storybook of Legends. It was marked as a "prequel" a leading in book before the real story. It seems more like an elaboration on an event that will take place in the full novel. It is the tale of two sisters: one good but ugly, the other beautiful but selfish. You see where this is going right? Choose your own path. Decide which version you want to be.
Very short, very simple, and okay. My favorite part was the ending. And I love how this story helped Raven decide her destiny. I would've loved to have known whatever happened to the sisters, but that's a tale for another time. I'm glad I read it, although as far as a fairy tale goes, it's not that unique or special. So, it just gets three stars.
A great short story, this is an interesting adaptation of the tale of the two sisters at the well. This story stands well on its own or as an addition to the Ever After High The Storybook of Legend tale.
That was a short. It is the tale of two sisters that decided not to relive their story and escape. In "The Storybook of Legends," Raven comes across this story and uses this story to back her decision to not follow in her mother's footsteps and relive her story.

I love the way Shannon has challenged her readers to think about their own character with her challenge from this story. I can't wait to read The Storybook of Legends! Finally I'll get to know all these characters in greater depth!
12/9/13- Today I just started/finished this book because apparently it was a short story. It was really only about how Raven was reading the two sisters story. That is all.
