I was so excited for this book to come out that I took a day off work so I can have uninterrupted reading time. And while I absolutely loved seeing Brighton and Caden navigate through their relationship and I loved catching up with my other beloved characters (I am looking at you, Tink), I can't help but feel like something was missing.
"I want you to feel good. I want you happy. I want you to feel safe and cherished. I want you to feel comforted and comfortable. I want you to feel loved."

It is so crazy to distinguish The Evil Prince that plagued our heroes in the Wicked Saga with the Caden we know and love today. He has been hated by many for the things he has done only to find out that he has been under the Evil Queen spell and that is the whole reason why he did things he did. I was so excited to read his story and I thought that Brighton was his perfect match. My love for Caden only grew with each novella, and by the end of The Queen my feelings for him have surpassed my expectations.
"You hold a part of my soul, Brighton. You are mu everything. Nothing will ever change that. Ever."

I love Brighton. She is so courageous and brave and brilliant. She took the pregnancy news really well and despise the reservation she might have because of what happened to her, I think she is going to be an amazing mother. She desperately wants to protect the people around her and for that I really admire her. However I did not enjoy the way she was going in circles, on and on, about how she can't tell Caden about the baby until he marries his Queen and ensures safety of the whole fae population. After a while it got a bit tedious. I admire her for trying to do the right thing but sometimes you just need to be selfish, especially when it comes to the father of your baby. Just the thought of stepping back to let the man I love marry and produce a heir with someone else in incomprehensible to me.
"I'm going to be the godfather," Tink announced.
"Thoughts and prayers for that child," Kalen said.

I am going to miss Tink and his obsession with Twilight, Harry Potter and Amazon Prime so much. I think he is one of the best characters that Jen has ever written. He is just so funny and crazy, but then can be also protective of the ones he cares about. I loved his reaction to Brighton being pregnant and how supportive he was. He truly is one of a kind and I don't think there ever will be a character quite like him.

I had slight issues with the ending. It felt incomplete. Throughout the entire course of the novellas, there are hints of this big fight between the Summer and Winter Fae and with Aric gone, I thought that Neal would pick up the torch and make something really bad happen, but then the ending was very anticlimactic with him leaving town and it was left at that. There was this one betrayal of someone that was to close to all of them, but it did not surprise me as it probably should have. I just felt like the ending was left open for the readers to come to their own conclusions. It felt like the whole time it was building towards something, only for it to fall flat. We didn't even get the full understanding of what was happening to the younglings and I don't think the group found a way to stop it from happening. It felt like The Queen mostly focused on relationships instead of wrapping up all the other issues that were present. Don't get me wrong, I still loved every moment of reading this, but I expected more from the ending.

I really hope that Passionflix will also make these novellas into movies because I would love to see Caden and Brighton's love story to come to life.

The Queen was impossible not to devour in one sitting! This story was emotional and packed with friendship, love, lies, secrets and betrayal. It was a wonderful ending to the Wicked Series and that epilogue was more than I ever could have wished for. So don't tell Ivy and Ren, but this spin-off is my favorite series in their world. Plus it left the door open to future spin-offs, which I'm keeping my fingers crossed for. So if you love fantasy, romance or Jennifer L Armentrout's books, then you definitely need to pick this one up!
I’d always dreamed about the kind of love where someone was willing to risk everything. I never thought I’d be on the receiving end of it, but I wanted it—wanted it so damn badly.
But was that kind of love worth everything?

With that huge announcement at the ending of The King, I desperately wanted to read this book. But when we started to learn how the fae's lives worked, I was shocked, just like Brighton. It all felt so hopeless. Brighton was left with the choice of her happiness, or the safety of the world. All the while, she was still mentally suffering from when she was held captive. Her flashbacks were suffocating. But Brighton was rational, strong and knew what she had to do. Even if it meant keeping Caden at arms length and hoping her heart wouldn't shatter in the process.
He took a small, measured step forward. “But things are different. You have me now. You have all of me.”
It felt like a knife being shoved straight into my heart. His words shouldn’t make me feel that way. They should bring me nothing but happiness.
This isn’t fair.

I. Loved. Caden! The King, Caden, was loving, protective, strong, loyal and intoxicating. Even though the world rested on his shoulders, there was absolutely nothing he wouldn't do to keep Brighton safe. He cared so deeply and purely for her. And as we got to see all that he would do for her, it made me fall that much deeper in love with him. I was obsessed. Caden and Brighton seemed to be embedded into each other's hearts and souls. So how could he choose another? And how could she deny him the truth? It all felt like an impossible feat.
He took my face in his hands. “You hold a part of my soul, Brighton. You are my everything. Nothing will change that. Ever.”

With the appearance of so many favorites from the previous books and series, The Queen had it all. Tink made me laugh so much that my sides hurt. I loved that there was lots of laughter in the pages, but there was also so much that made my heart hurt. This book was definitely heavier on the emotional aspect, then the action. But it still felt like there was danger around the corner. And I just want to say, I knew it!! This book wrapped up with an epilogue that absolutely breathtaking. And the door is wide open for future spinoffs, since there are some unanswered questions. So yes, I absolutely recommend this series. Just be prepared to not be able to put The Queen down!!

2.75 Estrellas!

This novella picks up right where The King left off. Literally with Brighton's reaction to her medical condition after her unpleasant visit with Aric. Yeah, I was glad to see that ancient go in the last book.

I have felt all along that these novella should have just been one book. This story reads like the ending of a book completely. The climax was hit in the last novella and now we have a lot of clean-up to do. Add to that some withholding of information and a threat that still needs to be flushed out and you have this book. Not that I was unhappy about it, at all. I loved all the time that was spent working on Caden and Brighton's relationship. They needed to have an in-depth conversation which kept being put off. Bunches of messes that kept dumping on them later and there was finally resolution. And I thoroughly enjoyed the time with them.

Caden is just about perfect. He chose Brighton. And he loves her so much. He is just adorable. I never ever thought I would love Caden at the end of the Wicked series. Like never! But I fell hard and now total team Caden.

Brighton went through a lot of growth through this mini series of novellas. She's lived through a lot in her short life. But I was proud of her the whole way. I wasn't happy about a certain secret she kept from the King but I understood her reason. I was also not happy with something that did not come spilling out of Caden's mouth as soon as they were alone. Yeah, they both had sharing issues.

Reading this book was just so enjoyable. I could see where things were going but I just was so happy they were going there. There was one big shock that shall remain nameless but this journey was so entertaining. Lots of Tink time. Lots of "awww" comments from Caden. Lots of "tell them" moments from me. Yeah, I just enjoyed it.

This one wraps up the novella series but leaves things open for more stories should the author decide to go on with the world of the Fae hanging out in New Orleans. Since I have enjoyed everything about this series, I'm fine if she decides to give us more stories from this world. Never say never.

Make time to read it!

The Queen is the final novella in the A Wicked Trilogy novella series. The King left readers with an unforgettable cliff-hanger that The Queen spends the majority of its page count addressing.

Though The Queen is not nearly as action packed as its predecessors, I thoroughly enjoyed the slow pace as Brighton and Caden process the revelations from the previous novella. Miscommunication plays a large role, however its use is warranted and not at all annoying.

These past three novellas have been a treat. They strike the perfect balance between action and romance. The original trilogy is still one of my favourite paranormal fantasy romance stories, so being able to experience this world again has been a blessing. Though Brighton is no Ivy, she’s just as strong though in very different ways.

Overall, The Queen is a great conclusion to this novella trilogy that allows readers to simmer in this world a little longer while also giving an intense romance.

The Queen
A Wicked Novella
By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

REVIEW ☆☆☆☆
I am a fan of the 1001 Dark Nights Novella Collection, and it's always exciting to read a new addition. The Queen is a Wicked Novella by Jennifer L. Armentrout and the last in a trilogy that included The Prince and The King. This story is a wrap up for Caden and Brighton because readers need some kind of closure. I was impressed by the maturity of the characters. Caden changed from zero to hero, thank goodness, becoming an unrecognizable version of himself. I mean that in a positive way. Brighton is carrying a life altering secret and wishes to withhold disclosure to Caden. Selfless or stupid? I think she is too good for her own good. This is a fast short read, so I won't go into great detail. Will these two get a happy ending or heartbreak? What matters most? If you want to know, read The Queen!

The Queen is the last installment of the trilogy started in The prince within the Wicked universe. As usual with a JLA book I devoured it quickly. The novella picks up right where the previous one ended. I’ll be honest although I really enjoyed it, I was expecting something a little bit more action packed. I kept thinking we would get a huge showdown between the Winter Court and the Summer Court but at the end the book felt like a long epilogue. It tied nicely most of the storyline from the series, but I felt like it could have been much more. We do get some unexpected twist, a lot of swooning moment AND of course a healthy dose of my beloved Tink. This book is supposed to be the last taking place in the wicked universe but I feel like there’s room for so many more stories, I really hope Jennifer will decide to revisit this world at some point in the future!

As the last book in this companion novellas, I hoped to see more. I’m not even sure what more I would have loved to see, but it was fast, I finished it in a couple of hours and a lot of things were left there with no real explanation.

I loved reading about Bri and Caden and I’m sad this is over, but at the same time I feel like we need more books. Not just because I love the world and characters, but because I need answers. Also, a moment in particular, the plot twist, was so fast and a little predictable, that I was not really impressed. But, the writing style, world building and definitely character development (more Brighton than anyone else) were there, so I can’t really say anything.

This is not my favorite in the trilogy, it’s probably the one I struggled with the most. I’m just happy I got a closure for the couple.

Brighton and Caden’s relationship is so wholesome. I like it even more than Ivy and Ren’s and that’s saying something. I wouldn’t have minded reading full books about them, not just novellas like these ones.

I’d love to read more about Tink (my favourite character in book history I think) and Fabians relationship from their perspective, as we hardly got any dialogue at all from Fabian and I’d love to see them together!

A definitely satisfying conclusion, and it’s sad saying goodbye to these characters!

Honestly, this book doesn’t really have a purpose. Brighton and Caden continue to not communicate, which, once again, just makes everything worse. Nothing else is really resolved.

I should’ve stopped after the second novella. Sigh.

The man is just a bit over protective, “I will rip the skin from any fae who even has the smallest inkling of looking at her in a way I do not like,” Caden bit out." I liked this book, I loved Caden.

One of the best endings I could ever imagine for this couple! Caden and Brighton deserved this ending with all the laughs and fear and uncertainty but also the power of knowing that your loved ones will be by your side. I enjoyed seeing Brighton growing as a character and Caden was just perfect. Some other Fae could also get some good lessons from him!

Ok, Tink was hilarious as always and the rest of the cameos offered a good memory from the Wicked series.
I don't feel ready to leave this world just yet. I feel that there's going to be something that will bring us back to New Orleans and these amazing characters! And the ending of this novella series was just sweet!

Ugggghhhh, The Queen is probably the shortest and tiniest book I've ever read from Jennifer L. Armentrout!!!!!! I know it's just a novella but it's the finale for this spin-off series, so doesn't the story deserve a lengthier ending...?? Perhaps it's just me who can't get over the awesomeness of the whole series. LOL

Back to the book itself, The Summer King novella-trilogy is the spin-off for Wicked series, including all three of The Prince, The King, and The Queen. I personally enjoy the spin-off novellas more than the original trilogy, but that's just because I admire Brighton Jussier much more than any other heroines. Besides, I think there are more juicy details regarding the Summer/Winter Court and how exactly the Fae World/Underworld works. Thus, I'm thrilled that both the first two books in this spin-off series bring me into a completely different part of that Fae World and I'm hooked. I'm so eager to find out what'll happen to the Summer Court's future, a.k.a. Caden's hometown, after the tragic yet hopeful ending in book 2.

Unfortunately, not only am I surprised that everything, no kidding, literally everything happens in book 3 is utterly in my prediction, but nothing dynamic occurs. I'm like, HOW COME??!! I'm half expecting there would at least be some sort of an epic war or a truce between the Summer and Winter Court, considering the evil spirits still exist among their worlds. In my opinion, this finale seems a little weak, rushed, and somewhat uneventful. I'm hoping it'd contain just a wee bit unexpected plot twists to further explore Caden and Brighton's adventure.

To sum up, The Queen is still an enjoyable read despite the lack of excitement and dynamite. If you're a huge Jennifer L. Armentrout fan like me, you should definitely pick this up since there's a satisfying happy ending for this series. If you're new to this author, I'd still recommend reading this book as it can totally serve as a brief introduction to her writing and story-crafting. Trust me, either way, you won't be disappointed. *wink*

This was the fitting ending to this little trilogy of extras in the Wicked series. Who else but Armentrout could get us so excited by characters that weren't the main ones in the original series, but had such integral roles to play in the story, even if it was in the background. And of course any and all time we can spend with Tink is just the icing on the cake. I love how the bad guys in the stories often have such a reason that you can almost, I said almost, forgive them, or at least understand why they did what they did. I mean, to be able to love Caden, the King, after what he did in the main Wicked books is something in itself. Of course Armentrout knows how to write a villain, I mean my one of my favorite book boyfriends of her books will always be Roth, the son of the Prince of Hell.

I made it through the first two in this part of the series. I figured I should see how it ends. Brighton is rescued from her tormentor after she has already killed him. This story is pretty much about her recovery and a bunch of miscommunication, lack of communication, and lack of knowledge. Completely dumb ways to create conflict in a story that was stretched over three smaller works when it could have just been developed as one longer piece. Totally unnecessary or repetitive scenes in all three books. Underdeveloped and cliche characters and plot. The same old tropes dressed up in a lackluster world of fantasy. Not much originality. Not really all that good. I honestly finished it because it was a train wreck and I had insomnia. I kept hoping it would put me to sleep. Sadly, it did not.

What an amazing ending to this world. Wicked it one of my favorite series of Jennifer L Armentrout and these novellas have been such an amazing addition to it. I absolutely love Brighton and her strength and kindness. I have loved watching her change and grow and I absolutely love her. She is such a great heroine and so different than many of the other heroines we have read about before. Caden is such a surprise to me as I never thought I could love him and holy smokes I do. I love how he is and what he struggles with. This was such a great story and this ending was awesome. I could not put this down. This is a MUST for every Jennifer L Armentrout fan and for everyone else COME ON AND JOIN THE PARTY!!!
