Getting Rich is by Monique Domovitch. It is A Chef Landry Mystery. It is the second in the series.
Chef Nicky Landry and Toni were partners in Skinny’s on Queen, a low-calorie restaurant. The restaurant was beginning to do well, especially at lunch. Nicky worked 6 days a week which did not bode well for a relationship. However, her current boyfriend lived next door to her and was an author so he was home most of the time when she got time off. Nicky lived with her dog, Jackie Chan, and Jackie’s two puppies left of Jackie’s litter of three. Of course, Toni was taking the male, Trouble, when she finished making her home puppy proof. Toni was well off with a large inheritance which she enjoyed spending. She financed Skinny’s while Nicky was the chef. Toni was a chef too; but she preferred plating dinners to cooking them. Nicky preferred cooking them so they worked great as a pair. Charles, Sam, Marley, Jake, and now Jennifer worked for them.
Toni arranged for a television interview and Nicky reluctantly went along. The interview was a success and Skinny’s had more business than ever. It also drew some nuts. A lady chewed Nicky out for taking her restaurant. Charles threatened to call the police to get her to leave. Then Nicky was hit by a hit and run driver and broke her ankle. Could things get worse? Yes, the restaurant burned down and Jennifer was killed then burned. Who was out to get them or Nicky or Toni or who? To top it all off, Toni had a half-sister she had never known about show up with her controlling husband and pretty daughter.
What will happen next?
It is a cute, quick summer read.

I've read other works by this author and she always keeps me turning the pages. This mystery that takes place in Toronto (one of my favorite cities) is a quick read and it's always fun get some great low-fat recipes, too! While I find many edits that should be made in many books I read, this one could still use some good editing to find typos.

The sudden wrap up was a little too pat and unbelievable. One huge plot hole. But still entertaining and I love the recipes.
