Although my copy is an apparently newer version than the one pictured here, I imagine there will be few notable differences. First of all, this is another student cookbook which lacks photographs of the recipes, so the oft-occurring question, "is it supposed to look like that?" may go unanswered if you choose this particular book. Another quirk of Student Grub is that in many, if not all, sections are ordered alphabetically by product rather than just being a collection of recipes one after the other - great if you've just been to the shops and are wondering what to do with what you've bought, but possibly not so much if you're just flicking through for ideas. The positive aspect of this book, and it is a very good aspect, is it comprehensiveness, because for every section on vegetables or fruits there is one on different cuts of meat or proper desserts and puddings, so it's likely that both omnivores and vegetarians will be able to get some mileage out of their copies.
