Counterfeit Cowboy

Rate this book
"Nothing but a counterfeit cowboy." That's how veterinarian and horse farm owner Dr. Shelby Masters contemptuously describes the number-one male country music singer. Strapped for cash when her prize stallion is stolen, she is forced to spend six weeks with the man, teaching him enough to do his own riding in the western movie he's signed for.

Jordan Brooks can sing and play a guitar, but he can't ride a horse. He has a month and a half in which to learn, and he might just give strait-laced and distanced Shelby a few lessons of his own. For instance, how to make the most of a warm summer's night on a moonlit beach...

This was a great shorter story. Less than 200 pages, but not sure how many. It took me about four hours to read. It is the story of country western singer Jordan Brooks and Country vet Shelby. Shelby isn't impressed with Jordan because he dresses and talks western but she calls him counterfeit. When his agent wants Shelby to take him to her farm and teach him to ride for an upcoming movie, she refuses. She desperately needs the money so a series of incidents gets her to change her mind. Shelby starts to see another side of Jordan and starts to fall for him, but she gets engaged to her neighbor. What will she do or the men in her life. this is a good read

Review:

"Counterfeit Cowboy" by Gail MacMillan was a wonderful western that will leave you with a smile on your face. This novel was definitely one that you will want to keep reading till the end. The heroine Shelby and hero Jordan were really in for some adventurous ride. Shelby was a vet and ran a 'horse training ranch.' Jordan was a good man who was a musician, loved to sing country western, loved life and caring for others. Jordan was considered a 'country western singer'...but was he really? He worn western attire.... sung country songs but didn't know a thing about horse riding and driving cattle. So when Shelby was asked to teach him to ride...she said that he was just a (fake) 'Counterfeit Cowboy' and didn't want to be bothered with him. However, Shelby later changed her mind due to the fact that finances on her ranch was rather tight. Why was this? What had happen? To get all that is happening in this good read you will have to pick up "Counterfeit Cowboy" to see for yourself how this story will end. The characters were all well developed and so very colorful only helping to give this read that well written entertaining touch. In the end you will find this novel a 'sweet' one that that deals with the western romance that will in the end find yourself smiling at a good read.

Good love story

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. As a country music fan and lover of a good romance story, this fit the bill. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that it seemed to have some typos, which were a little distracting.

This is a easy story to read if you can ignore the over the top characters and some of the implausible situations.
It would make a good read if you don't want to strain the brain.
