Rescuing His Pregnant Mate

Rate this book
[Siren Everlasting Classic Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, werewolves, HEA] Edward, one of four ancient wolves, has discovered his mate, reincarnated and in the hands of hunters. The man is also pregnant, so even though it means that he must have mated with someone else in this lifetime, Edward is willing to risk it all to set him free. Craig McCourt is a human, but his abductors insist he's a werewolf. Then Craig turns his head and spots the real thing. The wolf changes into a handsome man that Craig can't take his eyes off of, and when he's injured while rescuing Craig, Craig takes him home to care for him. Craig has no mate, and when he tells Edward about this, the man insists they are the ones who are mated. As much as Craig wants to be with him, he's still not convinced that he is pregnant. He can't be. For one thing, he's a man, for another, even if that was possible, he's a virgin. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Lackluster storytelling with a lot of summary and sex, not much else, made for a less than stellar read. I may be more of a sci-fi/fantasy m-preg kinda reader. Missed out on my favorite parts of both m-preg and shifter stories with this one--skipped over the actual impregnation and no knotting. *deep sigh* Plus Craig seemed more like a pregnant woman than a male. I don't want to know about swollen ankles, tired feet and food cravings--unless it's a super cool craving, s'mores even seemed girlie.

Building on the story and characters from the 'Luna Werewolves' books with their very special alpha and omega wolves, this story begins a new series that takes their mythology and world just a step further. With a nice link to the events in the last 'Luna Werewolves' book, it opens up the past, including the origins of luna werewolves, by telling the story of one of the four mysteriously glowing and powerful wolves who appeared out of nowhere to help Roarke save Peter from the hunters.

Edward is one of the four ancient wolves, the one who glows green and who has special powers over growing things. He was devastated many centuries ago when his pregnant mate was brutally killed, and has never really recovered from the sock or the guilt he felt about not having protected him. Now that he has awoken and found a man who looks exactly like Edward's dead mate, he is determined to get to the bottom of who Craig is, who go him pregnant, and how to free him from the hunters who have captured this Craig just like the ones who killed the other Craig.

Craig thinks he is a human. He's been captured by a group of hunters who tell him he is a luna werewolf and pregnant, but Craig refuses to believe them. After all, that just isn’t possible. As soon as Edward turns up, and Craig feels a strange attraction and trust toward the stranger, things start changing. Fast. Craig does his best to adapt, but the world as he knows it just isn't the whole picture. He is grateful for Edward's guidance and support when the initially vanquished hunters reappear, but that doesn't mean he'll give up who he is – or was.

If you like to explore werewolf world with an unusual mythology, if you enjoy reading about men who have their worlds turned upside down and inside out by new information and events that just shouldn’t be possible, and if you want to know how the luna werewolves are doing, then you will probably enjoy this novella. I think it's a great start to a promising new series!

Felt like it lacked feeling

the overview made it just seem like it was gonna be riddled with angst and confusion and drama. I mean a alpha finds his supposedly dead mate reborn but he's already preggers! a supposedly virginal human finds out he's mated to a wolf and has a bun in the oven with none of the fun. well there wasn't. about 90% of the book was sex. don't get me wrong, I love a sexy scene just like the next but when it's the whole book..... and the plot holes were big enough to sink a tank. and back to the sex scenes...they didn't pull me in at all. Felt like I was watching a bad porno. I just felt let down. I kept reading in hope it would get better. it didn't.

Meh. I don't really know how I feel about this series. After reading the Luna Werewolves series, this one just feels like more of the same. Yet another captive/kidnapped mate that has to be saved, mpreg and the typical dynamics between mates. The fact that these werewolves are a bit different, a little extra ("gods" or whatever?) isn't enough to differentiate it from the other series. It just seems like more of the same. Also lots of sex, sex, sex. Just like the Luna series (though there were like 2-3 books in there that were less sex-obsessed).

It sort of seems like the author is getting more and more stuck with the same (specific) tropes and plot dynamics and I'm sort of worried about her ability to diversify now. She used to write about vampires, shifters and other types and the stories were varied enough, but now (and this is coming from someone who read the Luna Werewolves series before this) it just seems to be about rescuing a captive/kidnapped mate, hurt-comfort, and mpreg. There's not that variety anymore, even with these sort of different werewolves. Even in the Vampire District series, there was more variety! Not sure if I want to read this series if it's just more of the same.

3.5 stars. I really liked it. An easy read with sweet fluffiness. The conflict wasn't overly drawn out but also wasn't fully developed. It was a 4 until we got to the point where Edward and Craig were in the shower and they went about the sex scene as if it was the very first time that day that Craig had been the penetrator. Like Edward wasn't riding Craig when the two hunters broke into the cabin. It was a sloppy mistake that I felt should have been caught. Also for that time frame Edwards character seemed to develop a personality glitch. His internal...voice, for a lack of a better word, sounded different.

All in all, I enjoyed it. It gave enough backstory for Edward and his brothers to draw you in and keep your attention and push you to the next story.

Even though I haven't finished the 'Luna Werewolves' series by this author, I was excited to jump into this new series because I thought the description sounded so fascinating. Glad I was right! I totally felt for poor Craig who had no clue in the beginning and thought he had a cancerous tumor growing in his stomach. HA!
This was fun and I look forward to more.

I love the instant draw and attraction between mated wolves. There is something very primal and sexy about it. Loved the story to this one and that Craig didn't know who he was. Makes the attraction that much sexier.
