Trespassing #1

Bad Reputation

Rate this book
It's the last day of sophomore year for Logan, just one more day until summer vacation, and the whole school is buzzing. Someone called into the local radio show with an alarming confession, and at Nauset High School it’s all anyone can talk about.

Logan is more focused on just making it through the day. He has developed a reputation, and it comes back to haunt him at the worst times, even for those who supposedly know him. He just wants to make it to the end of the year party to kick off summer and ensure his girlfriend, Hailey, doesn't break-up with him. Or his car doesn't breakdown.

As the night progresses, Logan learns that secrets will always be exposed, and the cost of those secrets can have a deadly price. Who was responsible for the confession, and will they make it through the night?

Born in California, I have spent most of my life traveling throughout the US. I draw inspiration from my many adventures, turning my strange reality into fiction.

Over the years, I've found myself in many unusual situations, ranging from hanging off an 80 foot cliff-face in New York, to sailing off the coast of Salem, Massachusetts. I have hosted archaeological excavations, and have even reported from the middle of a police stand-off.

When a teacher asked me in the second grade what I wanted to be when I grew up, I didn't have an answer. To be honest, I still don't know. I let my characters make that decision for me.

To say that a book has personality is a somewhat odd way of drafting a review, but that is what this book has, and it has it in chunks. It's a youthful personality; full of juvenile delinquency--we can all relate to, and blind young heroism--many of us can only imagine. It's an intriguing personality, a daring one, and in addition it is a personality that possesses a curious mind. Finally, it is a personality that the reader wants to acquaint with, deeply.

P.W.Creighton says in his biography that he has not always been certain of his career destination. All I can say is that anyone who reads this novel will know that the man has definitely found his vocation. I read an enormous number of books, some I like well enough, some I can't even finish, a rare few I adore, and this was one of them. Here the tone is perfectly YA-- from the protagonists angst, captured as he is in his juvenile capacity with all the yearnings of the man he is yet to become, to the frustration at not being able to draw the world in the way he reckons it should be sketched. In a day, life changes dramatically for Logan and his friends in a manner that will have the reader flipping the pages to uncover the mystery that lies at the heart of this wonderfully told tale. I think this author is on his way to the fabled realms of fortune and fame, and with every new work he offers I will be there to buy his books, and thereby, hopefully, contribute something to the journey.

Wasn't sure how the story would play out in this book so I had a hard time putting it down. Lots of twists that I really didn't see coming. Thanks for the crazy ride.

I finished Bad Reputation and could not shake it off. It is not loud or showy, but it stays with you. There is something raw in the way P.W. Creighton writes, something that feels like truth pushing through the surface.

On the outside, it is a small-town mystery, but underneath, it is about guilt, loyalty, and the ache of trying to be understood. The characters feel real, flawed, impulsive, and human. What struck me most was how clearly the story shows that reputation can break a person long before the truth has a chance to save them.

I cannot wait to share this with my community. They are readers who value sincerity over perfection, and they will connect deeply with the honesty in this story. I know it will spark one of those long, heartfelt conversations that remind us why we still love stories that feel true.

I am not sure this book was necessary until the ending but it was a quick easy read.

I really wanted to like this book because the blurb sounded interesting but...there was no plot. It was kind of set up in the beginning, but then melted into the background and lost its sense of immediacy. It disappeared in the middle and then reappeared right at the very end along with an attempt at a plot twist that fell short and just didn't make much sense. I won't give away the twist, but I will say I didn't care for it. I will say the author did a great job with the dialogue and bringing a group of teenagers to life. I just wish there was more of a plot...or, rather, that it had stayed more of a focus of the book.

Sehr seltsam.

The story is a YA novel, and it rings true. The ending wasn't what I expected. I never saw it coming.
