My granny once told me that I was sitting on a gold mine. She was right, even though I had no idea what she was talking about as a young’n. Later on, other babes in my neighborhood hit me with gems like “keep a nickel between ya legs.” To this day, I’m still trying to figure that one out. My name is Cherokee, but I’m known as Pinky thanks to some “brotherly love.” My journal is full of drama, problems, sex, and stories you’d have to read to believe. I have truly seen it all and left my past on my journal pages. The only thing left for me to do is share my story and let you be the judge…
This book kept me interested from start to finish...Although I did not agree with some of Cherokee's actions...I couldn't help but to love her character...I also felt sorry for her...Every guy she was involved with did her wrong and it made me so mad...Kinda thought the book was going to be about something else but I'm very happy with where it went...The only thing that I wasn't happy about with this book...was that the whole time I was trying to figure out what city Cherokee moved to and what school she went to...It's all about detail with me and something like that makes me lose focus on the story and more on figuring out what's missing...Other than that...The book was great...Now on the part 2
Ooohhh Cherokee was something else! I must say you couldn't knock her hustle. At least she listened when her granny told her that she was sitting on a gold mine. I liked the type of relationship she had with Nell. She finally decided to give it another shot and I was really hoping it worked. As for Essence, that chick seemed like the stalker type. It's crazy how the person Cherokee loved and the one she was beginning to have love for both hurt her under the same circumstances. Now on to part 2 to see what Koree is going to reveal, what will become of Cherokee and Nell, where does it leave Yung, will Cherokee eventually get completely out of her little funk?!
Decent book but definitely could have been better.
This book was just okay for me. Being the first book I read by the author I don't know how fast I'd rush to read another. I feel like the story was rushed and vague at some points. I do feel as if with better character development and a stronger plot this could make for an EXCELLENT read. I WILL be reading the next installment, I just don't know how soon.
This was a good page turner!!! It was my first time reading a book by Keys and it most definitely will not be my last! I can't wait to read part 2 to see if Cherokee reunited with Nell. Was Essence really pregnant? Did her neighbor Koree baby daddy shoot Nell? If you looking for a good book to read, I really recommend this book.
Um.... I just thought the book was all over the place.... It just seemed to be the typical high school things... Some of the book was predictable.... I love the artist and I've read some other books she has had that was awesome... But this pink panties thing isn't what's up for me...
They say old habits die hard... Will Cherokee remain the same in her new surroundings or will she grow from it. A solid read from Ms. Keys. Nicely done. On to the next part.
I loved this book it was a great read i loved Cherokee and wanted to kill yung and Nell. i would like to know more about dash he is my new boo lol the boss I can't wait to read part 2
While I enjoyed the read, it seemed like some of the characters were extra, just thrown in with no real impact on the story. Also, if she stopped wearing pink panties, why is the story named such? Maybe I will get more insight into that in part 2.
I was caught up in the drama of a young girl doing grown women things. Men seem to not care or ask about age. I don't understand girls growing up to fast, looking for love in the wrong way. I enjoyed this refreshing story of young love
Ms Cherokee was something else before moving to a new city. Once she moved she was more calm cool and collective .. Her story is enjoyable and I would recommend it to everyone .. Keys got some good lines in here
Good book,I love the chemistry between Cherokee and Nell, she such a spoil chick, but how she gets away with some of the things she do and nell doesn't say anything is crazy! I guess bc he was doing his own thing!! Okay on to part 2
This book had its slow moments, but overall it was good. I like Cherokee. She definitely has a story to tell. The best part of this book was what she did with the perm. I never would have thought of that but that is definitely a good way to get payback.
