A Bucket Of Nuts And A Herring Net: The Birth Of A Spare Time Farm is a great memoir written by John Jackson of the Jackson family who, obviously accordingly to the title, went and bought a farm.
It covers the slow ramp up of their farming operations, their relations with village-folk, demolition and amateur building of structures amongst other things all told in a light and humourous fashion.
There's quite a few funny stories of wayward animals and overall is just a nice easy to read tale of one families tree-change into a farming and 'self efficiency' lifestyle.
