While investigating the disappearance of his sister's fourth husband, who had vanished from a Seattle orthodontists' convention, cop-turned-sculptor Adam McCleet encounters a serial killer called the Yuppie Ripper and a vicious, karate-kicking dentist. Reprint.
I keep going between 2 and 3 stars, this book was an incredibly fun read but I kept getting distracted by the suffocating macho energy. While I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery itself, I can’t help but focus on the way Hanson thinks about women. From Allison to Sylvia to Margot, it is obvious that he is trying to prove that he respects women rather than actually respecting them. Again, very fun read but obviously an outdated book
I really enjoyed this quick read. It reminded me of Tim Dorsey books with a bit a Allan Eskens. It was not earth shattering writing, but I enjoyed the story with a fun ending which is why I rated it 4 stars.
It is too bad but this book has all the same problems as the last one I read by him. The plot is silly, some ongoing characters have absolutely nothing to like about them, and while occasionally funny, it is not funny enough to overcome the plot.
Erstwhile sculptor and part time detective has to find his missing brother in law. Turns out he has been kidnapped in one of those stealing your body parts scams and so on.
Anyways, if unlike me you have nothing in your to read pile, then by all means pick this or any of the others in the series up - currently going for 1 penny used on Amazon.
I know I read this but it must be so incinsequential that I can't remember even a tidbit of it. I believe I was home sick and it was the first thing I picked up. Alas, even reading the back page doesn't ring any bells!
Can't remember when I read it and vaguely remember the plot ... something about Margo's orthodonist husband at a convention? Really silly premise, entertaining dialogue, not as good as the first Rick Hanson book I read but not the worst thing I've ever read either.
I think the books are great, i am little Bias! its tragic that this author lost his life in 2001 due to a battle with pancreatic cancer. I think you can tell in the last couple of books written. But loved the humor in them.
similar to Carl Hiassen Adam McCleet, ex-cop and sculptor, finds his brother-in-law, an orthodontist, at a Seattle convention. Adam's sister is a dragon lady. Very funny.
