"He Ain't Lion" - Life sucks... And then you get turned into a werelion... Curvy Maya Josephs is looking for a little fun after a bad break up. When she meets the hotter than hot, super-sexy owner Alex O'Connell, the alpha lion shifter is just the man to fit the bill for a one-night stand.
***
"You're Lion" - With new pregnancy hormones making her inner kitty extra bitchy, Maya's not sure who she's going to murder first: her gyno for discovering the pregnancy, her guards for following her every move (and annoying the living shit out of her), or the striped beyotch cooing over Alex. Screw it. She'll start with the tigress and work her way back to the other two. Lucky for everyone involved, it's a good thing Alex knows how to tame her inner she-cat...and make her purr.
***
"Ball of Furry" - Perfectly plump Carly has no need for a gorgeous hunk of werelion. But the hunky man pounces and claims her before she has the chance to say "no." Furry bastard. As if her life isn't crazy enough...it just happens to get that much crazier when someone decides they want her dead. Lovely.
Read as part of the box set. Interesting mix of shifters I found. For a Prime Alex was not that strong, he should have explained everything before claiming unless her life was at risk that very minute. I get get the call of the moon thing but a Prime is usually strong enough to resist. However the story was well written and held my attention, characters were easy to like and Maya actually came across as the stronger, even more lead worthy. Enjoyable read. Started and finished 5/12/21 A little action as hormones rage for pregnant prima. Great read. Started and finished 6/12/21
This story has a bit more plot and suspense. Carly found her mate but struggled with his flirty ways and callin her darlin just like every other female was a blow, so she fought against him. But with a murder and a threat plus him finally getting it, she needs him. There is some violence and action in this that had me gripped and excited. Great characters for the most part easy to like. Started and finished 6/12/21
Loved it. Maddie was awesome and Ricker was growly. Well written and exciting. Started and finished 6/12/21
Poor broken Elise, she has had two years of absolute he'll but is trying so hard to move on and recover. Her poor little fox has been hiding until her move to Ridgeville and help from Maddy. This story was intense, even a little heartbreaking, but also uplifting as the character finds strength and love. Brute in so many ways is a gentle giant and stays so calm and careful unless he feels his little mate is threatened, don't poke the Lion coz you won't like what happens. Really loved this one, would have loved a bit more of the babies though. Started 6/12/21 Finished 7/12/21
I like this book because of how it started. I hate reading books when it takes the main characters chapters to figure out they are destined for each other.
This was a fun, cute, quick read. It's comprised of the first 3 novellas in the Ridgeville series: He ain't lion, You're lion and Ball of furry. The first two stories feature Maya Josephs. She attends a shifter party and ends up with the Prime of the lion pride. After spending the night with Alex she is unknowingly turned into a lion. Maya is an over the top character, full of sass and Maya-isms. I'm The second story we get a pregnant Maya who is keeping her lion pride on their toes. The third story features Carly who is Maya's best friend and a bunny shifter. She finds that Neal, lion shifter and ladies man is her mate. They also have to deal with someone trying to kill her. Overall I enjoyed this read and will probably check out other books in the series.
This is two books plus one novella which I think is great because one story flowed into the next and at about 275 pages, I breezed through it.
The bundle starts with He Ain't Lion. In the town of Ridgeville, Alex O'Connell is prime of the were-lion pride. When a beautiful, curvy blonde walks into his club during the Gaian moon, semi-annual moon that kicks a shifter's libido into high gear, he knows he should send the unfamiliar human on her way but his lion has other plans. After a wild night with the the most delicious man she's ever met, Maya feels a little...off. She had no idea a night of passion would lead to her turning into a shifter and oh boy, is Alex going to answer for that. You're Lion is next and picks up with Maya getting used to what it means to be prima and setting a tiger shifter straight on who is and is not allowed to put their claws on her mate.
Alex and Maya hit the sheets nearly right out of the gate. Alex wants Maya, Maya wants Alex and gets a night full of sweaty fun and a bite that changes her life forever. There's little character development or plot to it but I'm ok with that. I was in the mood for something entertaining, a bit snarky, and hot and that's just what I got.
In the second book, Ball of Fury, Maya's rabbit shifting best friend Carly is up and she's found her mate in the Neal, a hunky Texan lion shifter that has his work cut out for him with Carly. She doesn't believe the big flirt is able to be a one woman man and he's determined to prove her wrong. Too bad his courting is interrupted by someone out to kill his mate.
There's a bit more to the story in this one. Carly wants her HEA and is heartbroken to find Neal, one of Maya's personal bodyguards and renown flirt, is who fate paired her up with. But Neal has a surprise for her. He hasn't touched another female since they first laid eyes on each other six months ago and he's out to change his shameless ways for her. This one is just has hot as the first book plus Neal is cute as he chases after his mate and that makes up for the lack of character development. Plus the assassination attempt opens up doors and widens the Ridgeville series world and the set up for book three has me excited to read more.
These are a great escape for the more emotionally heavy, complex stories I read. There's a lot of sexy entertainment wrapped up in this short collection and I had a lot of fun with it. - Stephanie
Before my review I'll give you a little bit of background info about how I came to read this book. When I download a book from Amazon it either gets kept on my kindle and put in my 'to read' folder, or to free up space on my kindle it's put to the kindle cloud immediately to read at a later date. Sometimes I can't decide what to read next, so I'll open my 'to read' folder, close my eyes, and do a few finger swipes, open my eyes and start to read what has opened.
This has been an incredibly difficult week, as my mother died suddenly a couple of weeks ago, and it was her cremation this week. So as you can imagine my head has been all over the place. I couldn't decide what to read, but knew I wanted something that was interesting but 'light' and humorous. A big massive thank you to my finger swiping abilities, because it opened up this book, and it was just the tonic I needed.
I absolutely loved this book. With lots of super hot shifters the stories flowed brilliantly, the characters were engaging, the writing was superb. I especially love the variety of animals that are shifters, because so many shifter books are all wolves. The female characters were strong and didn't turn into simpering idiots once they had found their 'mates'. By the end you wanted them as your friends and to go out on the town with them, cos you know you'd have a right good laugh with them, plus they'd be able to introduce you to some super hot males.
I cannot recommend this book enough, and will definitely be buying the next books in this series, because I need more hot shifter action :)
I enjoyed these books but each book is a little to short for my liking.
He Ain't Lion
Maya Josephs is trying to get over a break-up and is on the hunt for some fun. She heads out to Genesis to meet a gorgeous fur-ball for the night. Instead she meets the owner of Genesis Alex O'Connell, an alpha lion shifter.
What's the harm in a girl having a little fun??
You're Lion
So Maya fun night at Genesis with Alex. No longer worried about her break up, now she is more worried about being pregnant and her hormones. She is going to kill someone but the question is who to kill first. Her bodyguards, Her Gyno or the Beyotch who is all over Alex.
They will be murder but who does she kill first??
Ball of Furry
Carly's just wants to hide from the world on this one night, Were all furry creatures in Ridgeville want to make babies. Neal is Carly's would-be mate but he has wandering eyes and a love of women. Carly's life is cray enough without Neil claiming her and not giving the chance to say NO. Someone is trying to kill her as well.
Twice a month shifters of Ridgeville gather with their lot to celebrate the Gaian Moon. It's an orgy fest, with one real goal in mind - procreation. This is the Get Out of Jail free card is for those who want kittens, cubs, puppies, or whatever the breed, but haven't met their mate. Even humans, called familiars, are part of the writhing sex fest. But when Maya, a human looking for a hot one-nighter, is bitten by a Prime Lion while getting freaky, she gets more than what she asks for.
Then there's April, the Rabbit shifter, who discovers her mate is a lion ladies man. Things really get interesting when, Maya is confronted with the fruits of his labour.
Kyle's Ridgeville Shifters made me laugh and appreciate the spin on a Rabbit being eaten by a Lion. At times it become a little heavy on the whole 'you're mine, so we'll behave like toddlers if anyone else wants to play' but I endured.
I have owned and read all of these books for ages. I have not laughed or smirked so much in my life. They are a great, fun read with sassy, smart ladies and uber hot alpha men and vice versa. Lots of hot sex and silliness with a good background story. This series improves as it goes on. Fuller reviews are available for the standalone books. HE AINT LION 01 - We meet Maya, a woman who knows her mind and takes crap from nobody. She is turned into a Lion without her knowing it. I laughed out loud in some places. YOUR LION 01.5 - Maya is pregnant, hormonal and leading Alex on a merry chase. We also merge into Carly’s story. BALL OF FURRY 02 - Maya’s best friend Carly is a rabbit shifter with a mate who is a man whore. Laughed and cried in this one. I thought Carly forgave Neal way too easily and the ending was just a bit too simplified to tie everything together.
'He Ain't Lion' & 'You're Lion' with leads Alex O'Connell & Maya Josephs: I liked these allot. Witty, sexy & I love that a curvaceous women is the ideal. They were short stories but even so, there was very little real/deep emotion. These are light, frothy & sexy with a touch of shape-shifter paranormal romance & should be enjoyed as such.
'Ball of Furry' with leads Carly Thompson & Neal Landry: Didn't like this as much. Didn't seem to be as romantic. The leads seemed more detached/distant from each other, there was very little communication between them & even less real/deep emotion, this can only be somewhat explained by the length of the story. There is a darker storyline (compared to the first two) that is revealed latter in this book. Got tired of all the Mya-isms.
I think my favorite thing about Celia Kyle is her descriptive talent. So many times I find myself smiling, eyes closed, picturing what I just read! It may seem silly but it's true. A good example is when Carly, in werebunny form, (which cracks me up anyway-these tough guys become 5 lb. bunnies?!), is crossing the field to get to the dandelions. This entire scene is written so well and with such humor, it's like you're right there with her. Celia's ability lets us enter her stories, and that's just one reason why I keep reading her. I look forward to what she's going to show me next!
Warning!!!!! What I thought were 3 novels were 3 novellas, not that I minded but I really thought the Prime and Prima deserved a little more in depth study, also since I didn't get the other books separately I would have been a little upset at being left hanging if the stories start and stop like they did in Vol. 1
I ran across the Ridgeville series through a recommendation from another book. Some of the stories are better than others, but they're all worth the price. This set is great and I read through it quickly. I couldn't put it down. Celia Kyle is a great author and the Ridgeville series is one of the best out there.
I just tin shed rereading this boxed set, and if possible, I love it even more this time. It is crammed with hilarious dialogue (inner & spoken), romance, HOT SEX scenes, and great characters! Kyle's entertaining & imaginative world comes to vivid life every time I read her books.
Great story about shifters, comedy, real bad guys, and lots of sex scenes. the sex scenes do not detract from the enjoyment of the story and when you get to the end you know there is potential for some more stories in a series. thoroughly enjoyed it.
This entire series is a light-hearted, easy-reading hump-fest. If you are looking for something else - you will be disappointing, but if you are prepared to accept it for what it is - then it is an enjoyable, fun read.
Absolutely love Ridgeville, the characters are funny. The true depth if the characters starts to really show in Ball of Furry and improves from there. Definitely worth a read if you like to have a giggle with you PNR.
This set is off to an AWESOME series! Easy to imagine, or visualize everyone and everything. Storyline, is keeping me up past my bedtime, I keeping saying ten more minutes!
I totally loved these books. I love Maya and Carly. Two extremely loveable women who aren't afraid of being who they ate. Strong, intelligent and in touch with themselves. I would recommend these books to anyone who lies BBW and the wonderful mates.
