"My name is Jezzerie Jades. All my life I'd had visions of a vast war among demons and monsters. These visions became familiar to me... A secret, and they didn't scare me, not then, in a weird way they calmed me."
When the shadows finally breach into the real world, Jesserie finds herself thrust into the middle of a timeless war between factions of the shadows, but even more interestingly, she finds her true family and her true calling as the Shadow Hunter.
A young, orphaned, beautiful woman, Jezzerie Jaden, attempts to make a life for herself in the big city. As she grapples with mundane problems like making rent and a creepy manager at work, something deeper brews: a nagging suspicion that her life is not her own. Seeking answers (not to mention extra cash) she enrolls in a past life regression experiment which seems to ignite visions of a demonic past that no one can explain.
Then comes the titillating and strangely dangerous power she’s not sure she can control, and a mysterious guy with the sword who just won’t leave her alone. It’s one hell of a day for our heroine, especially when she discovers who her real father is.
Shadow Hunter is the story of a provocative superheroine who survives a brush with death only to find herself fighting the legions of hell for her very soul. It is a three issue comic book limited series by Virgin Comics and porn star, entertainer and author Jenna Jameson. It is part of Virgin Comics' Voices line, which allows celebrities to create their own comic books. The story was conceptualized by Jenna Jameson and Witchblade writer Christina Z, who wrote the script. Mukesh Singh illustrated the book
Terrible, but not for the reasons you probably expect. Kudos to Jenna for actually attempting to tell an honest-to-God story (and a surprisingly smut-free one at that), but Christina Z's horrible writing wrecks any chance it might've had of being effective. Seriously, a person picked off the street at random would've been a better choice. I never thought I'd say it, but Jenna would have been better off just writing it herself. I did like the artwork, though, which is why I'm giving SHADOW HUNTER an extra star. The final issue is notably bizarre, in that it's a "special" prose issue, which was obviously produced after everyone lost faith in the project and wanted to wrap it up in the cheapest way possible.
I only read this because I saw it and honestly couldn't believe it was a thing.
Surprisingly enough I really enjoyed this!! The art is absolutely fan-freaking-tastic, just stunning! The vibe of the story was fast paced and a little chaotic but that made it fun. The writing was definitely not great and huge skips all over the place but I would have read a second volume because I have so many questions.
The people writing awful stuff about Jenna Jameson for the writing clearly can't see that she didn't write it, Christina Z. did, and Jenna was only a creator - probably helping come up with the character or an idea or two. It wasn't Jenna's fault this wasn't great.
It has heart, it is honest and it has a self empowering message. Its a creative project made by someone who does not know how to build up something like this. It must have been very cool in Jenna Jameson's imagination.
I can respect the earnestness of it all. But the actual text is really bad, and confusing and it does not communicate the lore very well, the lore doesn't make sense very well anyhow.
The art is done very well but the panels have to connect the weirdly paced story and poorly written dialogue so it always has to fight and uphill battle against itself.
i liked the ending where Jezzerie Jaden finds her way, her power and her side and you can feel how that was the point all along.
This was objectively bad but well worth reading :) at first it looks like a blatant cash-grab but then it turns into a serious creative outlet of someone who tries to make the world a better place with her very own fantasy Superhero.
I'm happy that I stumbled upon this in a local comic store!
While reading Guy Ritchie's Gamekeeper a while back I noticed an ad for another comic written by a celebrity with no connection to comics. I kinda liked Gamekeeper but I had a feeling I wasn't going to like this. After all, how well do you expect the world's most famous porn star to write?
There is no twist here. It wasn't a trick question. The comic is bad. Really bad. I somewhat liked the art but it doesn't come close to earning a second star to this crap. The story and dialogue are just so absurdly bad that I almost laughed a couple of times while reading this. When I noticed the third and final issue was just pages full of text and art only as a background, I very swiftly closed the viewer and deleted the folder.
I wasted my time only because there were so few issues and I was curious as to how bad it could be. You should avoid making the same mistake.
