Four Winds #2

Falling for Grace

Rate this book
Rafael is one of God’s Four Winds, the Archangel of Healing. He has answered the countless prayers for healing of loved ones, wondering what it was about the emotion that made humans willing to sacrifice so much.

Grace is a lifeguard who has been on Rafe’s radar since she lost a little boy three years ago. What she doesn’t realize is the green haze that comes over her during a rescue is actually a diving presence who’s about to give up his celestial body to become a very real entity in her life.

While Grace is trying to overcome her own demon, Rafe is discovering his own sexuality, but there’s a darker presence making himself known. The Deceiver wants what Rafe is getting, and he’ll do whatever it takes to have her.

Series: Four Winds #2
Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance
Received from: Anne Conley (in exchange for an honest review)
Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content
Grammar/editing: B – a few small errors

This is the second book in the Four Winds series. Though I was told, and agree, that these are stand-alone books that could be read in any order, there is a visit with Uriel and Heather from book one. I believe reading these in order will help you understand better their interaction.

The second of God’s archangels has been set on the path for his retirement. The Boss, in board shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, has chosen Grace for His healer, Rafael. Unfortunately, Grace is afraid to fall in love because of the relationship her mother has. Grace does not want to lose her own identity to any man. As always, the Deceiver, Satan, wants what his brother has been promised.

This second book was even better than the first in the series. I was holding my breath several times waiting to see what would happen next. Would Grace get out of her own way and allow Rafe to love her with his whole heart? Could she admit her own love? Would she succumb to the lies of Damien? There was also the fun, flirting, and silliness, not only between the two of them, but also with her other roommates, Nicole and Bree.

I live in one of the Hurricane states and I have experienced first-hand the frightening effects of those horrible storms. I lost a child to the first of the four storms that crossed the Florida peninsula in 2004. I remember all too vividly sitting through the other three storms and waiting for them to pass. Reading the chapters dealing with Hurricane Ethel, a category four storm, was terrifyingly real for me. I applaud Ms. Conley for the heart-stoppingly detailed description of emotion and storm. (For anyone wondering, our home is not on a flood-plain and we received no damage beyond the loss of our beautiful Camille.)

My son is a lifeguard; I hope reading about Grace’s experiences with rescues just may make me a more sympathetic mother. I know that I am grateful to all emergency responders.

I absolutely loved this story and I am looking forward to reading book three next… and already anticipating the frustration of waiting for book four. The good thing is that I know it will be worth the wait. Ms. Conley is quickly becoming one of my favorite indie authors!

In book 2 we are given the story of Rafael and Grace. Once again Ms. Conley has weaved a nicely written story around rather dire circumstances. The author has, in this story, created a situation where our main heroine is haunted by a past tragedy. Something she is unable to shake so it's always in the forefront. Rafael the Healer is sent to fall for Grace and he does that without fail, helping his fated come to terms with what can not be changed.
I read the first book of this series back in early 2013, and for some reason forgot to keep up with the new releases. Well needless to say I just happened to be looking for a quick read one evening and ran across Falling for Heaven amongst my many books on my kindle and remembered how much I enjoyed it. So began the week long indulgence in re-reading it and purchasing the additional 3 books that had been released since May 2013. So in less than a weeks time I have devoured all four books released. I have completely entertained non-stop with each release. Ms. Conley writes an amazing story of archangels being given the opportunity to fall, not only from immortality but also in love with women God has chosen for them. Wonderfully written and easily enjoyed, this series will keep you wanting to finish so you can delve into the next installment.

~~ I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review~~

This book is about good vs. evil. Angel vs. demon. Rafe is the angel and he is supposed to watching over Grace. Grace is a lifeguard that thinks she needs to protect everyone. When a hurricane hits their city, Grace and Rafe are the only ones left in the apartment. Rafe has started to fall for Grace, but grace is very guarded. There is one catch, there is a demon that wants Grace all for himself.

This is a fantastic book. I couldn't put it down at all. Anne writes like she has witnessed this first hand. You can get the sense of protectiveness from Rafe when he is with Grace. You can feel when someone gets hurt, and yes you will probably get a little teary eyed. I recommend this book to everyone!!!!

This is the second book in the Four Winds Series.... and I have to say...I enjoy these angels quite a bit...
In this story Rafe is watching out for Grace.... Grace is a lifeguard who had a life altering save, it pretty much follows her throughout this book. When a hurricane comes to town and Grace would not leave...Rafe stays as well....they become close during the storm, but danger is just a heartbeat away as the Deceiver tries his best to lure her away.
All of these books are Stand alones.... get them you will enjoy!

There are definitely lots of great things to say about using Angels and romance to write a beautiful story. Rafael, The Healer, did not only fall from Grace, but fell for Grace for true Love. I am so happy I read ths story, it was just moving, and as all of Anne Conley's stories, had me hooked from the very begining! 5 Stars, hands down by far!!! Great Great READ!!!!

In a world where everything is seemingly the same, I feel I’m always in pursuit of originality. At the same time, I’m realistic and will settle for something that has great characters and some suspense. I don’t expect to be surprised, (though if you can surprise me, I’ll read anything you write and follow you forever).

Falling for Grace isn’t the same old boy-meets-girl / girl-meets-boy, conflict, HEA that the world is over-saturated with. I couldn’t stop turning the pages and once again put my life on hold to keep myself submerged in this cute little small-town world.

Between the small town and Grace… she’s a brilliant character. None of that agreeable, letting-the-boy-get-his-way-to-keep-the-peace nonsense here. She doesn’t take any crap. She stands up for herself. She has her own sense of what’s right and lets it rule her. She’s strong, despite the fact that her mother IS everything I loathe… she sees what’s wrong with it and does better for herself. The fact that Conley wrote the mother like this is brilliant - it makes Grace’s strength stand out that much more.

Conley is a master designer when it comes to her characters, and her worlds. I’d kill to spend more time in this town.

I did predict all of it - but that’s what I do. Falling for Grace is an utterly addictive work of art.

Formatting: Gorgeous - I literally stopped to admire it at times.
Editing/Proofing: Seems professional, mistakes noted, but not distractingly so.

Overall: 4.5 stars.

I am in love with this series!! Anne Conley continues her unique story telling in Falling for Grace and it was more than I expected!!
Grace goes for casual relationships only, that is until a beautiful green eyed man drops into her life and takes her by surprise!!
Rafe found the woman who he is destined to love for the rest of his life.... He just has to convince Grace to fall equally!

This is book 2 in the four winds series. Have you ever had that one moment in your life that impacts you more than any other? It gives you nightmares when something triggers that memory and no matter how much time passes you will never forget it. Welcome to Graces life. Grace is a lifeguard, she loves helping people and saving them when it is needed. Until that one moment that she couldn't save someone, her first loss while on the job. And it completely tears her apart no matter how many she saves afterwards, it always comes back to the little boy that she couldn't save. It gives her nightmares after every rescue, whether successful or not, but she always feels like there is someone there with her during her saves not physically but mentally, emotionally. Grace lives with her 2 best friends in a small 4-bedroom cottage and they need a roommate or they are all going to have to split missing money. Then there is Brad the boring safe boyfriend who is a nice guy but she knows she will never love him, what starts as a simple "hook up" turns into dating however they agreed to not get serious, to bad Brad doesn't see it that way and he wants serious after how long they've been dating. Until that moment when the girls get a new roommate, only it's not their normal girls only candidate, it's Rafe.
Rafe (Raphael) he loves encouraging and healing people when they need it, if a dr has shaky hand he helps steady them, someone is on drugs he uses his charms to help that person detox. Then there is that one case of the woman he hears crying and screaming in anguish over a little boy she couldn't save ever since then he has helped encourage her and give her small mental pushes to let her know she isn't alone. Then HE decides that Grace is the one for Rafe. She is his light and dark, they complement each other in ways only your soul mate can, but will the deceiver come between them and ruin their chance at happiness? After a series of natural events bring Grace and Rafe together will they move past just friends or will Grace continue with her mediocre relationship with Brad that she knows will go nowhere but is the safe way to not get hurt or sucked into a relationship with a beautiful man who will want to possess her everything...or so she thinks... Will Grace come to terms with everything happening in her life and choose to love Rafe and admit it to him.

In contrast to book 1, book 2 had me on the edge of my seat for much of the story. As I noted in my review for book 1, I think my issue there was about the setup process, and that just wasn't an issue here. I loved Rafe and Grace, their chemistry, their story. The plot moved for me, the characters were engaging, and I was heavily rooting for them the whole way through. Once I was done, I couldn't wait for book 3. Minor errors didn't detract much here, and the sexy factor was boosted a notch. An excellent read, and I think, with this story, the author really hit her stride for the series.

If you are paying attention, you will heed the author's warnings with this series. Do not assume that, because it's about angels, it will be clean fiction. It's not. I'm happy with that, but some people won't be. Should you choose to read this series, and ignore the warning, then you have no right to complain that the story is something other than what you'd hoped it would be. Angels, graphic sex, and some fascinating conceptions of Christianity (and God). I definitely enjoyed it. I will be including this disclaimer in each of my individual reviews when they appear on Amazon and Goodreads.

I normally do not read books that are paranormal however this book/series captured me.

This is Grace and Rafael’s story. Grace is a lifeguard in Galveston facing her own demons. Rafe is one of God’s archangels – the Archangel of Healing. Rafe’s assignment is Grace, who he has been watching for several years. Rafe carves his way into Grace’s life however the Deceiver has other plans, he wants Grace for himself. Grace and Rafe go through a frightening hurricane together, will their love survive through the Deceiver?

This book was well written – smooth and flowed well. Even though it was a short read, it didn’t feel that way. Unlike some books that create a romance quickly, this one takes time to grow. This was my favorite book of the series!
