Attack Hitler's Bunker!

Rate this book
The RAF secret mission that never happened - probably.

Richard Earlgood, maverick RAF veteran from the Battle of Britain, and Michael Dorfmann, an ambitious Luftwaffe pilot turned double-agent, plan a daring attack against Hitler in his bunker. They are brought together by Anna, a Station X decoder. With a dark, Italian beauty, she is the booty both men want to win.

Richard comes up with an audacious plan which will test his new, crack squadron of pilots to their limits.

The odds are increasingly slim of either pilot surviving as German Intelligence gets wind of the plan and Hitler orders counter-measures. As the Hurricanes descend into the Hell's Mouth around the Reich Chancellery it seems as if the whole Third Reich is there to stop them.

Fans of 633 Squadron will love this white-hot roller-coaster ride through the streets of Wartime Berlin on a bombing mission with no equal.

All profits from sales of this book until 10 September 2015 will go to The Stirling Aircraft Project Charity, a project to build a Short Stirling front fuselage section from as many original parts as possible, in commemoration of the people who designed, built flew and maintained this historic aircraft.

Lazlo Ferran: Exploring the Landscapes of Truth.

Educated near Oxford, during English author Lazlo Ferran’s extraordinary life, he has been an aeronautical engineering student, dispatch rider, graphic designer, full-time busker, guitarist and singer, recording two albums. Having grown up in rural Buckinghamshire Lazlo says:

“The beautiful Chiltern Hills offered the ideal playground for a child’s mind, in contrast to the ultra-strict education system of Bucks.”

Brought up as a Buddhist, he has travelled widely, surviving a student uprising in Athens and living for a while in Cairo, just after Sadat’s assassination. Later, he spent some time in Central Asia and was only a few blocks away from gunfire during an attempt to storm the government buildings of Bishkek in 2006. He has a keen interest in theologies and philosophies of the Far East, Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe.

After a long and successful career within the science industry, Lazlo Ferran left to concentrate on writing, to continue exploring the landscapes of truth.

The RAF secret mission that never happened - probably.

Richard Earlgood, maverick RAF fighter pilot, and Michael Dorfmann, an ambitious Luftwaffe double-agent, plan a daring daylight attack on Hitler himself.
This single raid could win the war, but only one man can win the heart of Anna, the sultry Station X decoder who brought them both together.

Richard comes up with an audacious plan which will test his new squadron of crack pilots to their limits, but can Dorfmann be trusted to play his part?

I have to admit that I am a sucker for books which involve vintage aircraft. For the most part I enjoyed this book, even though in places it did read a bit like the old commando comics that I used to read when growing up. I did think that the characters were quite well thought out, but I ended up feeling that there were some threads left hanging. The ending did feel a little rushed

First let me say, I do not typically read books on this subject and only did so to be able to discuss the story with my 14 year old son who chose this book for school. Now let me continue by saying the book had scenes I enjoyed and many scenes I did not enjoy. The subject matter was very interesting and the action scenes were stimulating. However, I found many areas throughout that just bored me to sleep. For me, some of the details sucked the life out of the story even though I understand why they were included. My biggest frustration while reading? The abundance of errors. Words used twice. The wrong pronouns. Extra words mistakenly added. And at one point, a talking character was labeled incorrectly. I actually had to re-read several sentences throughout this book twice in order to make heads or tails of what was transpiring. Now with that, I should say I read this in e-book format. I have no idea what the print version is like. If you enjoy books of this subject matter you may enjoy this story just fine. Some may even overlook the errors. For me, the errors far outweighed my delight.

I am a big fan of WWII stories and found Attack Hitler's Bunker to be a well written and meticulously researched book set in WWII England. Author Lazlo Ferran has masterfully put together an interesting cast of characters who interact to bring you a look at everyday life in the European theater of the war.

The aerial combat sequences are excellently written and kept me on edge throughout the book. Even though Attack Hitler's Bunker is a work of fiction, I view it as an outstanding dedication to the men and women who risked everything to preserve our freedoms.
