She was born the day the world ended…

Nurrin has lived her entire life with zombies—trapped behind walls meant to keep them safe. She’s mostly happy there. But when a zombie horde breach the walls of her Haven, she has to trust her brother, Collin, and his best friend to keep her alive.

He just wants his past to die…

Finn O’Malley has given up on voicing warnings that are ignored. No one cares that the zombies are changing. Now all that matters is keeping Collin and Nurrin safe from what’s outside the walls of a Haven. But when Nurrin’s best friend picks up a contact infection, he agrees to get the medicine needed to save his life. Forced together, relying on each other in a strange Haven, zombies aren’t the most dangerous thing they’re facing.

In their world, only one thing remains true: everything ends in blood.

How could this be the product of the author who also wrote Neverland Lost? I am flabbergasted. I adored Girl Lost and Forever Found. I found them refreshing, sexy, and well-written.

And so, I turned to The World Without A Future, assuming that it would be similar in quality and originality. I love zombies. I love post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested worlds. And I loved how this story started off with a bang: Haven 8 has been breached! The fast zombies are infiltrating! Run, bitchez, run!

And then it all went very wrong.

The lack of world building and one-dimensional characters ruined it for me. The writing seemed weak, repetitive, and in need of some editing. (It really bothers me when authors can’t remember details about their own characters. For example, at one point Nurrin’s eye color changes). There were also a lot of typos and weird formatting going on. The extremely short chapters only served to jar me out of the narrative and make the flow choppy.

There’s a shocking shortage of any descriptive writing here. No details of the surroundings or environment. No physical character descriptions. Oh, wait--except that every woman in this book is blond. Seriously every single one: Nurrin, Kelsey, Lissel, the stripper. Apparently, in Andrew’s post-apocalyptic world, only horny blonds survived.

snape what is this shit photo: Jon Stewart seriously_zps15b102a6.gif

The plot holes were a mile wide. Finn was apparently an international man of mystery: everybody either knew him, knew of him, or have, at some point, fucked him. They are all, of course, intimidated by him. I think that Andrews was trying to create an aura of intrigue and suspense around Finn, but really it just made him unrealistic. Nurrin lacks in substance--we don’t know anything more about her as a person at the end of the book than we did at its onset. Except that she's apparently "feisty" because she gets pissed at Finn a lot. The Blessed Order was over the top, as well (not the most original name here either). So the havens just allow this over-zealous cult to live within their walls and sacrifice innocent children to the zombies? Uhm, it's still modern day--not the dark ages.

There also doesn’t seem to be much of a reason why characters are constantly cursing, yelling, and growling at each other. Nurrin and Finn just came across as juvenile and one brain cell short of a zombie themselves. And usually I love me some sexy times (Andrews did this so well in Neverland Lost), but here, these references and scenes just seemed ill-timed and forced. And what was up with the random “kinky clubs”? I’m sure some readers don’t mind this stuff, but it’s just not my thing.

Warning: Spoiler Below

And then, as if things couldn’t get any more ridiculous, prepare yourself for the gripping conclusion:

Brooding alpha-prick Finn bangs Lissel (despite the fact that he apparently has feelings for Nurrin—uh, ok? Sorry, that’s a big turn off for me), then immediately binds her hands, takes her hostage so that he and Nurrin can escape the Haven, and then literally guts her with a machete and throws her corpse out the fucking window to distract the zombies as they drive away.

snape what is this shit photo: Blink 182 CRumsLk_zpsd3bbb927.gif

The FUCK????

I guess he was done with her once he got his balls off. Gee, that's a real keeper you have there, Nurrin. Hopefully you're a better lay than Lissel was, or else your little blond ass will be next.

muppet shock or horror photo: tumblr_la6rrmhtLo1qaaqmq.gif

Oh, but Nurrin is spesh-ul. Finn apparently cares for her, although we are never told why--except that she is pretty.

I don’t understand how so many readers can find Finn’s murdering, creepy ass sexy and swoon-worthy. You want to know what is really attractive? A man who treats a woman with respect and maintains his morals and integrity DESPITE trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. When all of humanity is going to rot, THAT takes balls. THAT is a challenge. That would be a compelling story.

And...I'm out.

Unfortunately, this book irritated me to no end. It is about a group of four people who escape Haven 8 after it inexplicably falls to a horde of zombies after two decades. Ren's boyfriend gets infected, so Ren and Finn set out to try save him (okay, Finn doesn't care about him).

Certainly not a bad premise. So what is the problem? The characters are infuriatingly juvenile, immature "asshats" (to use Ren's words). I'm curious how many times the words: snarl, demand, curse, hate, furious, snap, rage, fury, sneer appear. For no good reason, the characters are perpetually indignant with one another. I can understand this when tensions are running high, but it is constantly like this. Instead of trying to work through the problems the face, they sit there bickering like a bunch of fourteen year olds.

Heaven forbid Finn O'Malley show a human emotion other than anger

Pot calling the kettle black.

Oh, and Ren is right, Finn is an "asshat". Half way through, the book swaps to his perspective and we are delighted with crap like:

But if she says anything to encourage the interest in his eyes, I'll break his neck.

"What the fuck are you doing?"

The endless fucking questions. I think I could handle all of the reasons why fucking Ren is the worst idea in a long line of bad ideas - if it weren't for the endless fucking questions.

I have watched her for years. Waiting. Hoping like hell the urge to fuck her would go away. It never did.

... displaying her lush ass.

One of the best things about her is that she curses so damn well.

Ren's perspective:

cuddling into Dustin and pulling a blanket up over us. He curls around me, an arm snaking over my waist... When I look up, I'm stunned to find Finn staring at us, his eyes furious and hot.

etc etc etc...

And Finn is love interest in this. Seriously. No. Just no.

... I'm too frustrated with this book to bother talking about other elements of the story...

On the day Nurrin was born, the world as humanity knew it came to a brutal and bloody end. On that day, the infected began to roam the world, destroying everything in their path, the human population has been decimated and only a few carefully constructed compounds exist. What are the infected? In a word, zombies, but not the shuffling and slow zombies we all figure we could outrun, these creatures can be inhumanly fast and human blood and flesh is like a 5 star meal for them. And they are learning to take out one compound at a time, breaching the walls of the humans’ defenses.

How could you not grow up tough? Nurrin has only her brother, a wall guard left as family, her boyfriend and her worst nightmare, Finn O’Malley, her brother’s best friend and one of the fiercest and most daring warriors around. The feeling appears to be mutual, but there is more to Finn than meets the eye, okay, he does an excellent job of hiding his redeeming qualities and can be very difficult to like. Nurrin has had to be tough to survive, she has attitude, snark and rarely shows fear, and she hates to be protected by others, especially Finn.
The day they had to run for their lives, only Finn had a plan, the means and the place where they could be safe. This is their story, one of survival, in a world with few values left, where it’s every man for himself, survival of the fittest or the most feared and Finn is close to the top of the heap. So who is he? Why does he stir something inside Nurrin? Why isn’t she afraid of him?

Hands down, I’m going to say, the changes in POVs was perfect, chaotic and added so much atmosphere to a world gone insane. The World Without a Future by Nazarea Andrews had me from page one with a bold style of writing that doesn’t ask the reader to like the characters, but to put themselves in the world that has shaped each character. Sadly, honor and order have pretty much been erased, along with trust and reaching out to others to lend a hand without strings being attached. In your face action, tension that sears through your mind and danger at every turn, the unusual romance that may or may not be budding seems to be another victim of the apocalypse, one cannot risk getting too close or trusting too much.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review for my stop on the blog tour at Donnie Darko Girl.

Forget the zombie action - I want some more action with Finn! I felt strange liking Finn so much more than Dustin, considering Dustin is her boyfriend and the one Nurrin grew up with and is closest to besides her brother. She absolutely hates Finn, and I did too at first but he grew on me over time. He's mysterious but very arrogant and has an obvious physical attraction to her. I think that's all it is - I don't think he loves her or cares about her personality at all. So then I swing back to hating him off and on.

How weird would it be if you were born on the day of the zombie apocalypse? It would make your birthday awkward. Nurrin is a First, born on that day, and she never gets a birthday party since that's a day that is remembered in a somber way. With all of the zombie books I've read and movies I've seen, I never thought about being born on the day of the zombie apocalypse. Being a First also puts her life in danger, and she has to do her best to conceal that fact.

The zombies in this book are incredibly fast, so any time they were chasing Nurrin and her friends, I pictured the zombies from the Dawn of the Dead remake back in 2004. Those were some fast zombies, which makes them even scarier. I can't run for very long, so I would be screwed. The zombie scenes in The World Without a Future were action packed, intense, very well done and had my pulse racing.

There were a few sexual situations that make this a new adult novel rather than young adult. I love the way the apocalypse started - not that lives are lost but that it seemed so realistic and came about from something people tried to do to make life easier. The World Without a Future was an exciting read, and I look forward to the sequel.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

I hate zombies. But I LOVE this book!!!! I was hooked from the get go and even stayed up until 3am reading, because I just couldn't put it down. It was fun, sexy, suspenseful and scary, and I am SO glad that I took a chance on a book that I ordinarily wouldn't have ever picked up.

I'm not going to go too much into what happens in The World Without A Future or else we could be here all day. This book is action packed with scenes that will make your heart race, your hands shake and your legs tremble. Your mind will be constantly working to try and figure out Finn's secret past, and you will be hoping with everything that you have, that they all make it unscathed.

Everything was so well thought out in the book and it all seemed so believable! I loved finding out how the zombies actually came to be flesh eating, crazed monsters and learning of the insane beliefs of the Blessed Order and how they were established is something that I definitely won't be forgetting in a while.

This whole book was so well written that it felt like I was living it right along with the characters. I was nervous and on edge while they battled the hordes, I felt ill and had to put my kindle down briefly when they had an up close viewing of a sacrifice, and I got all hot bothered with almost everything involving Finn O’Malley. Especially a certain scene in the kink club. HOLY HOTNESS!

Would I recommend The World Without A Future by Nazarea Andrews? Abso-friggin-lutely I would! This is a book that will definitely end up on my bookshelf (though I have a feeling that the freezer will be it's second home), and it was the perfect story to lose my zombie-book-virginity to. Roll on book #2 because I cannot wait to continue this fantastic story!

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review :) Thank you to Nazarea for being so generous and allowing me to read it!

I don't even know how to explain how good this book was! I expected the normal run of the mill zombie novel but this was completely different. Not only was the zombie apocalypse different, but the sexual tension between the main characters is amazing! As they journey to different Havens to find what they need, Finn and Nurrin encounter bizarre happenings going on in Las Vegas that would be unheard of to most of the other survivors.

The story focuses on the fact that Nurrin was born the day the world ended - the day that Emilie Milan arose from the dead and began the zombie apocalypse. We don't get a lot of history on Finn or Nurrin in the book however I think it will be interesting to see how everything plays out in the second installment which I now cannot wait to read!

Finn is very quiet but fierce in nature, most people would be afraid of him and yet Nurrin is not. Her burning desire and loathing of him is only part of what makes this story so good.

All in all, this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it, and I am thoroughly looking forward to the next book to find out what happens next!

Very disappointed by this book, which should be called "The world without any logic" rather than "The World Without a Future."

Ohhh boy, the bads.....

Nurrin whines at every opportunity, while Finn snarls as though he missed all his rabies shots. The two are pinnacles of perfection. Finn treats Nurrin like dirt, while her quiet, decent boyfriend takes her side and helps her out. Guess which one she finds more attractive? Finn is wildly jealous at the mere idea of any other man staking his claim on the fertile territory of Nurrin..... He enjoys sex, so naturally he prefers the clueless innocent who didn’t know what an orgasm was until he came along. I was never quite certain why she was so damn resistant to Finn. In fact, if anything, her life is improved with a guy who can give her antibiotics and a safe shelter.....

I guess I'm a picky reader today.

I found this to be an excellent read! Very difficult to put down! Not your typical run-of-the-mill zombie book, this book was SO much better than the usual zombies I'm used to. Romance, intrigue, action, adventure, suspense.. this book has it all! I highly recommend it to all fans of zombies, or romance, or both! It was great! Loved how it was told in alternating viewpoints, found that really neat! I'm really hoping there will be a sequel, as I will be first in line to grab it up!!

Having overdosed on dystopian novels over the past couple of years, my new favourite way to get my “bleak future” fix is apocalyptic stories and zombies are definitely a firm favourite when choosing my next “end of the world” read. THE WORLD WITHOUT A FUTURE has zombies (yes!), kickass heroine (yes!!), swoon-worthy yet oh so frustrating leading man (hell yes!!!) with tons of romance, action and adventure to keep me hooked from start to finish!

THE WORLD WITHOUT A FUTURE introduces us to Nurrin, born on the day the world ended and zombies rose, she lives with her brother Collin in one of the “Havens”, strongholds set up before the centralised government crumbled to keep the last remaining humans safe from the undead. A flawed experiment into emotion suppression was the primary cause for the rise of the zombies and Nurrin, known as one of the First is coveted by the evil religious cult that sprung up on those last days Humanity reigned supreme called The Order. They believe that sacrificing a First on the remembrance of the apocalypse every year is the only way to stave off the oppressive hunger the zombies possess and save the humans from certain death. Living under the name Ren, Nurrin’s brother and his best friend, the mysterious Finn O’Malley keep her true identity safe. When their world is ripped apart and her beloved brother and best friend are at risk of infection, Ren and Finn must join forces and venture into the broken world outside in order to save the ones they love.

This book had everything I want in a zombie horror novel but it also had everything I didn’t expect and ended up loving. This was definitely a darker read than I had anticipated not to mention possessing a deeply erotic and scintillating thread running through it. It was a tale of two halves, brutal and romantic, violent yet tinged with hope.

The book is told from Ren’s and Finn’s POVs and it was compelling to read how each of them anticipated and interpreted the situations they found themselves in so differently. Ren’s feelings and thoughts about Finn’s actions and emotions towards her were oftentimes the complete opposite of how he felt and vice versa. It set up for some blistering sexual tension that was deliciously frustrating as a reader and had me longing that just once they would cut the bullshit and be real about how they felt. The few moments we were treated to their sexual and romantic feelings towards each other were sizzling and worth all the frustration leading up to them.

Ren was a great heroine, I loved her loyalty to her family and the fact that she cared deeply for Finn no matter how much she tried to deny it. She was brave and sassy though sometimes I wish she didn’t allow herself to be led and would stand up for herself more.

Finn – an enigma wrapped in a mystery and rolled in a riddle, I was aching to find out more about his past and was willing Ren on to dig deeper. Finn was exactly the type of guy that usually drives me crazy (in the wrong way) in New Adult novels. Dark and brutal, at times almost feral in his actions towards Ren but here his dark, sexual energy and anti hero status worked perfectly against the backdrop of a world with little hope.

The world building was great in this book. It was very easy to visualise the bleak backdrop. The darker elements of human nature are definitely highlighted in this book as we see how lack of hope leads to an increased desire for the danger and depravity that can only be achieved with a mix of sex and violence. People’s need to go to any lengths to forget what’s happening outside and the adrenaline coursing through their veins bringing them to the very edge of their sanity was equal parts fascinating and chilling to read.

THE WORLD WITHOUT A FUTURE was captivating, sexy, dark and entertaining and definitely one of my favourite NA’s to read this year.

I discovered this book when I was actually looking up another book from this author lol! I was really intrigued by the cover, so I clicked on it to read the synopsis and I knew I had to read it right away! I'll read any book with zombies in it lol! I wanted to read this book that much that I actually stopped reading my current read and read this book lol! It was definitely worth it because this book was amazing! I couldn't put it down and finished it in a couple of sittings! The plot was full of action and suspense and had me gripped! I didn't want to put it down! I loved everything about it and it was developed brilliantly! There were also some twist and turns in the plot that made me desperate to read on and find out what was going to happen next! As if I needed anymore reason to read on, right? Lol! The characters were amazing! Nurrin 'Ren' was the main female character and I loved her! She actually reacted differently to what I was expecting her to act like in this book! I thought she was going to be a really kick-ass character, but she was actually quite a vulnerable character and she was really unsure about the world she was having to face! I could completely understand all this! Nurrin did become more confident as this book progressed though and she wasn't the same person at the end as she was at the beginning! She grew a lot too and I hope she continues to grow in the next book! I'm excited to read more about her and see her develop more as a character! Finn was the main male character and he sort of sounded like he had a stick up his ass for most of this book! I mean, he was so freaking hot, but he had such a controlling manner about him! I could understand why he was like this though because of the kind of world he was now in! I did love Finn and I loved how protective he was of Nurrin! I could see that he had feelings for her and I hope those feelings develop in the next book! I'm pretty sure they will because they did have some pretty hot scenes in this book! Finn did do some things that really surprised me in this book, but in a strange way I could understand why he did them! He did them to protect the people he cared about and this actually made me love him that little bit more and also respect him a lot more! I wasn't expecting this book to be split into sections and for the first section to be written from Nurrin's point of view, the second section to be written from Finn's point of view, the third section to be Nurrin's point of view and then the last section to go back to Finn's point of view! It added so much to the book though and I loved that I got to learn more about Finn by being able to go inside his head! The ending of this book was such a cliff-hanger! I could maybe have guessed it, but I hoped it wasn't going to end like that! It was a really good ending though! I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I'm so excited to find out what's going to happen next and I'm kinda lucky that I don't have to wait too long for the next book! The cover for this book suits it perfectly! It's actually what drew me to the book to start with! I absolutely love it and it's perfect for the story!

The World Without a Future is like World War Z meets the Walking Dead and if you’re a zombie fan that is like the perfect storm of zanity (zombies + insanity). Yes, I made that up, but there is no other word to describe this wild ride.
Ren, Finn, Collin and Dustin are on the run when Haven 8 is overrun and thus sets the tone for this fast paced story. It seems that they are the only four to make it out alive, but a close call with an Infect leaves Dustin clinging perilously close to the human side of living. Finn reluctantly agrees to go for some help from Haven 18 and Ren makes the trip with him.
Finn is the quintessentially hero, of the strong and silent type. He is a perfect mix of a superman with a strong under layer of delicious bad boy (shades of Daryl Dixon, perhaps?) Ren kind of came across as a bit of a spoiled child in the opener, but when all hell breaks loose, she holds her own and then some. There is an uneasy alliance between the two. Finn is a man of many secrets and Ren is a woman with many questions. Not a good mix for a road trip, but the tension between them ramps up the story and their relationship, such as it is. I hope that no zombie outbreak ever happens, but if (when) it does, I hope I have a Finn O’Malley or Nurrin Sanders beside me.
I tore through this story because I couldn’t put it down and honestly I didn’t want to miss out on anything. There are a few grammatical and spelling errors, but it did nothing to take away from the flow and pace of the story. It has it all: action, mystery, passion, thrills and then some. “What’s Finn’s end game?“ Ren wants to know, but he isn’t spilling any tea just yet. When he does (because a tenacious woman like Ren is going to get to the bottom of it) I want to be there with bells on, albeit silent ones, cause I don’t want to alert the Infects/zombies. I may be all alone on cliffhanger island (love a good cliffy) and Andrews doesn’t disappoint. I think she ended the story in the perfect place and really has me chomping at the bit to find out what happens next. I hope she is has her rough draft of book two (there is a book 2, right) ready, because I can’t wait for what happens next. At any rate, The World Without a Future should be required reading for all (because you just never know) and especially for zombie fans.

I love zombies and I loved this book. It is a fast paced, thrilling, action packed, romantic struggle kind of a book and it is right up my alley.

Nurrin (Ren) escapes the under attack Haven with her brother Collin, his friend Finn, and her boyfriend/best friend Dustin and they are left in the Wide Open. What they weren’t prepared for was the possibility that someone might get infected while escaping. This leads to Ren and Finn taking off to find the medication that will stave off the infection of Ren’s loved ones. It’s like a fun road trip except Ren despises Finn, hordes of zombies are everywhere, it’s dangerous, there is no rest, and it is not fun at all.

The world that Andrews created is so wonderfully terrifying that I was sucked in immediately. I found myself invested into the characters. And the mysteries that are wrapped up in book had me on the edge and guess constantly. Like why it is kept secret that Ren is a First, who Finn truly is, and what the Order really entails?

And last but not least, Finn. Finn is a major jerk but he is a major jerk that you will come to love. He is not the kind of character that outwardly shows himself as a jerk and then turns into a softy (well, he isn’t as of now.) But he is the kind of character that is straight up a jerk all the way around but something about him makes you respect him and realize that his attitude necessary (reminds me a lot of The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon in some ways.) I am very interested in finding out more about Finn and how this strained relationship with Ren is going to play out. Plus, where in the heck is Collin and Dust?

If you like zombie movies or shows, you will really enjoy this book; trust me.

I have been waiting too long to talk to someone about this book! I had beta read for Ms. Andrews prior to the book’s publishing and of course, I loved it!

Zombies!!!

I really heart zombie books! When I saw that this was a new adult zombie book, all I could say was “Sign me up!” The book itself reminds me a little of The Forest of Hands & Teeth Trilogy by Carrie Ryan. The characters live in seperate “havens” that are surrounded by fences.

The character building is awesome…..

Nurrin is a pretty cool chick and is not afraid to fight for what she believes in. She is a little bit of a thorn in her brother’s side by the risks she is willing to take with her life but meh, she doesn’t think it’s a a big deal! Collin has always protected his sister and he will continue to do so at any cost. The characters are very strong-willed and are determined to protect one another even if that means putting their own lives on the line.

Let’s talk Finn O’Malley….

Can I get a woop, woop? Finn is hot as in capital H and a double TT! The sexual tension between Nurrin and Finn is enough to make a person combust and I loved every minute of it!!! One minute they seem like they are getting somewhere and the next…poof! They hate each other again? This aspect alone was enough to keep me reading until the end!

In conclusion…..

If you enjoy zombie reads, then you MUST pick this one up! I literally read the whole thing in one sitting. I could not get enough of it! I enjoyed the characters, the storyline and Finn! La swooooon! I really cannot wait for the next book in the series and I am crossing my fingers that it’s soon!!

I was very excited to read this book, and it didn’t disappoint. The cover is GORGEOUS! This is a romance set in post-apocalyptic zombie ridden times. But at heart a true romance. I <3 zombies, and romance-SO WIN!

We meet Nurrin- Ren-and she is a first. Born after the infection began. She is awesome- tough, sweet and I think just a bit in love Finn- but don’t tell her!

Finn- oh he is swoon worthy. He is fierce, sarcastic, walks the wall, is best friends with Ren’s brother Collin. He also has a lot of secrets. And they may come back to hurt all of them.

The zombies are a scary background in this book. It is the only life Ren has known, and when a horde breaches the walls of “Hellspawn” (their Haven) Ren, Collin, Finn, and Dustin barely escape. And Dustin is hurt- but it is unclear if he is infected.

Finn and Ren are thrown together, again and again, and the relationship is antagonistic. He will do something kind, and in the next breath have sex against a wall RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER! Something is holding him back, because I believe he loves her! And that the feeling is returned- but I don’t know if they will ever actually get together. They are both too stubborn..but proximity may bring them closer??

We are left with so many questions at the end of book 1, and we are waiting with baited breath for the next installment!

When I first downloaded this book to my kindle I was hesitant to actually read it. Because of TV shows and movies zombies are ridiculously popular. For some reason I have been unable to find many zombie books that I have actually enjoyed. So this one went to the end of my TBR list, until I joined a read-along blog tour. I could freaking kick myself. This book was amazing and I completely fell in love with everything about it. Nazarea creates a world for us that is so real and plausible that it actually scares me a little.

“I was with my parents-my father and his best friend sat side by side, watching on a tiny monitor as the horde from Atlanta slammed into the troops from Fort Benning and everything- every fucking thing we’ve ever known or would know-stopped.”

DNF at 60%.

I expected a fight for survival, for loved ones and for a life in a world akin to hell. Oh, and a whole lot of zombie gore.
Yea, I got none of that.

Characters: One dimensional. We get introduced to their character traits, but never actually get to know them. By 50% this doesn't matter anymore, because our protagonists have turned into walking genitals.
World Building: Very unconvinving. Andrews tells the concepts of her world, but never really paints the picture.
Plot: Unimpressive. It is quite fast paced. However, as this book isn't very long, too few pages are spent on the story, which means it never drives the point home.
World Building / Plot Holes: The whole book is plastered with them. Maybe some things will be explained later in the book, but mostly it would take magical means to fill them, and since this is science fiction, that wouldn't help either.

No thanks.

This is a pure 5 star book

A whole new take on the Zombie Apocalypse. I was sucked into this new world where zombies were faster that normal humans.

With a fast paced action packed tale of those that survived the initial end of the world. This story takes you through a wide range of emotions, from fear to anger, hatred, love and back.

What would you do to survive?

"The only civil rights a zombie cares about is the right to eat anyone's brain."

The only thing missing from this book would be a 2nd book. I loved reading it. Thank you!

Could not put this book down! Started it last night....and done this morning. It was captivating, thrilling, and sexy! Not the typical Zombie Apocalypse book. Great premise & just enough back story coming through to keep you guessing as to where the story is going. The main characters are strong, if at some points unlikable (which I tend to like in my leading men), determined and have a will to survive. I was questioning the ages a bit. That is not quite clear for me (except the female lead, her age is important), but the rest.....not sure how that works with the time line. But all in all an griping story!

Now enough reviewing...I've got book two, The Horde Without End, waiting for me.

My Thoughts

I've already told Mrs. Andrews this so I'll go ahead and tell you all as well: I hate zombies. I don't like zombie movies, I don't do zombie books. In fact, I kind of think the whole "zombie apocalypse" thing has gotten a little out of hand and needs to go away. It's everywhere and I have never really understood it. My motto when it comes to zombies has always been "why mess with the living dead when you can mess with the un-dead" because lets face it: vampires are way cooler than zombies. Well, I have to say that The World Without a Future has definitely caused me to bite my tongue. I can now say that I actually really enjoyed THIS zombie book and am already trying to hurry through this review so I can start book 2!

Our story is one that is thrilling and honestly, scary as hell. Unlike other post-apocalypse worlds, Andrews doesn't paint a pretty picture filled with a whole lot of hope for the future. It's nasty, it's deadly, and it's scary. Terrifying. I can see where Andrews has gotten some of her ideas based on her self-proclaimed love of zombies, but she definitely puts her own twist on it. Unlike other novels, TWWaF was not about fighting off the zombies, it was about surviving a world with zombies. The inhabitants of the Havens (new cities) know their chances are slim and are just doing what they can to survive. Often their attempts are in vain as Havens have begun to fall. The hoards of zombies are making their way across the Western US in an attempt to hunt down the last surviving humans. Haven after Haven has fallen and little to nothing can be done about it. Throw in Ren and Finn and their mission to save Ren's "boyfriend" Dustin and brother Collin from the infected and you've got one interesting story that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

When it comes to the characters, I can only really talk at length about the main two: Nurrin "Ren" and Finn. Ren is a our FMC who is 20 and one day hopes to be a Wall Walker (Haven Guard) just like her brother. Ren is a fire cracker, tough as nails, and doesn't take crap from anybody. She is really an awesome lead. My only questions about her were really in her relationship with Dustin. Are they best friends or are they really dating (or just sleeping together) as is implied? I was really confused with Ren's relationship status, especially considering her relationship with other males throughout the novel. Finn is our MMC, 29 years old and a Wall Walker with Collin. Unlike any other Walker, Finn has a mysterious past and nobody knows much of anything about him. He proves to be a pretty interesting character and I can't wait to learn more about his back story later! I kind of had a hard time reading some of the Finn stuff because really was just awful at times. Not the writing, his attitude. I understand the guy is mean and has a dark past, but his language was awful and he had no qualms in throwing Ren around or harming anyone who got in his way. I really had a hard time shipping the Ren-Finn relationship (if that's where this is going). I'm hoping he can redeem himself in the next book, because there has to be a damn good excuse for him to be so physically and verbally abusive for me to accept him. (I get way too attached to characters sometimes)

As an NA book this worked PERFECT. The language is very gritty and can be vulgar at times, as with any NA novel. Just a warning that this is not a read for children or teens. The novel actually only has one true "sex-scene" which is good for people like me who get tired of reading them all the time, BUT the novel had lots of sexual tension and more than a few extremely steamy moments. Overall though, they were very well written and developed the characters immensely. This book is written in dual POV split into 4 parts. Hearing both characters take on the scenes was particularly interesting. I LOVE NA and I am so glad I read this, because it gives me new hope for the future of the genre. Thank you Nazarea Andrews for that!

Also to note: this is a relatively short novel, clocking in at just short of 200 pages in my edition. I think I also really liked that about it. There really wasn't any goofing off in this novel. The story is fast paced and doesn't slow down from start to finish! Good luck putting it down once you've started!

Overall, I really enjoyed this read and am starting book 2 (I'm participating in the blog tour coming soon) immediately. I am so excited to see what adventures come next for Ren and Finn! As a whole, I give The World Without a Future 4.5 stars! I will definitely be excited for the rest of the series!

In the wake of the latest series ending to one of my personal favorite TV shows, The Walking Dead, I was on a bit of a reading slump I get in from time to time, tired of the contemporary romances and the seemingly too similar themes in the books I had been reading and needing a bit more grit. This was a perfect read, especially if you love zombies! It is New Adult so it's mature in language and content.

I enjoyed the unique take on Nazarea's world setting post-zombie-apocalypse. There are "safe" cities known as Havens: #1, #8, #18, etc... These are fortified cities with walls and razor wire and wall walkers - those whose job it is to walk the walls watching for a breach. The "wide-open" is just that - all the land in between the Haven's that are overrun by zombies.

Nurrin and her brother, Collin, live in Haven 8 and for the last 20 years have survived and been comfortably safe. He is a wall walker and she works in the orchards. Everyone has a job to keep the city functioning. But as safe as it appears, they know a breach can happen at any moment and you always have to be prepared. Never leave home without weapons and always have a backup plan.

When a horde breaks through their walls, it's Collin's best friend that comes to their rescue to get them to safety. Leaving the only place Nurrin's ever known, her brother Collin, his best friend Finn, and Dustin - her best friend and boyfriend drive as fast as they can to safety. But now, they are faced with separating as Dustin has a contact infection - meaning he was scratched by a zombie and he needs medicine to stop the infection from spreading. Not wanting Nurrin alone with him should he turn, Collin and Finn agree for her to go find medicine with Finn - someone she can't stand to be around for any length of time, what with his cocky, arrogant attitude, not to mention his lack of interest in answering any questions, ever.

In order to get the medicine they need they have to take a lot of dangerous risks. It's not just zombies they have to survive from. There are those in power who hunt all of those born the first day someone turned, a day known as Day One. Nurrin is a First born.

The story is fast paced - as these zombies are definitely not the slow walking kind. And it appears that the zombies are evolving. Havens are falling all over the U.S. and it's quickly becoming where your choice is to hide or run - but humans can only run so far.

Even with the zombies, this story has a serious hotness factor. The tension between Finn and Nurrin is through the roof - but seeing as how Finn won't answer questions about his past, we don't learn much about him. He is one giant ball of mystery. Why is he so loyal to her brother Collin, and what is it about Nurrin that he vows he will protect her? I can't wait to read book 2!!

Can I get some more of Finn O'Malley? Please and thank you.

Favorite Quotes:
If ERI-Milan was the beginning, the horde colliding with the army outside of Atlanta - that was the end.

The only civil right a zombie cares about is the right to eat anyone's brain.

The most extraordinary thing about humans is we can overlook anything.

Final Rating - 4.5 stars

Nurrin was born the first day the dead “came alive”in the form of the infected, and rose up to kill thousands of the population within months. The first day of the end of the world as you or I know it. After the first wave, those that survived were ushered into various Havens set-up throughout the country. The walls promising to keep the zombies out while those on the inside try to rebuild what life they can.

When the walls to Nurrin’s home in Haven 8 are breached, there’s no time to stop and think, she just has to act. Immediately she looks for her brother, Collin, then her best friend/boyfriend Dustin. Little does Nurrin know (and honestly, as the story goes on it becomes very apparent that she knows very little), Collin and his friend Finn already have an escape route planned should a breach ever happen.

When the group arrives at their hideaway, it comes out that Dustin was scratched by an infected. A scratch can ultimately result in a turning but it’s slower than if he were bitten. This gives time for Finn to find medicine to keep Dustin from turning, and Nurrin gets to accompany him on his mission. Now, two people who dislike each other with a fiery passion, must work together to make sure the people they care about the most survive.

Saying The World Without a Future is fast paced, is putting it mildly. The story jumps starts right from the first page and doesn’t let up until then end, and even then we’re left with a cliffhanger leading into the second book. With all the fighting, running, chasing, hiding, and manipulative twists and turns, it’s definitely a book one can finish in just a matter of hours.

It’s apparent from the beginning that there’s more going on than Nurrin (Ren) knows about. There has to be reasons for Ren being kept in the dark by her brother and Finn, because when it comes down to it, she delivers. She’s able to fight her way out of scary situations and, when needed, she can put on a believable façade with the best of them. Usually I get irritated by characters that make stupid mistakes, but in Ren’s case I can forgive her simply for the fact that she’s kept ignorant by those around her despite the myriad of questions she asks. She’s pretty resourceful, and I hope others start to see that in her sooner rather than later; she truly is an asset and not a hindrance.

Finn is the typical bad-boy alpha male. I don’t know but there was something about him right from the start with his mysterious past and take-charge, leaping into the fray attitude that is extremely sexy. Although what is also apparent are his misguided feelings for Ren. The fact that he feels for her is not misguided, it’s the fact that he clearly doesn’t know what to do about it that is, and it also makes for some pretty steamy scenes between the two.

Using The Walking Dead as the standard by which I judge other zombie stories, I’d say The World Without a Future meets expectations. It’s a gritty, desolate world, but people are still trying to survive. I don’t think we’ve yet scratched the surface when it comes to fully understanding the dynamics of this rebooted world. I’m very excited to read more!

I was super excited to finally read this book even though I'm new to the subject of zombies. I've watched a few zombie movies, and I think I have read one or two other zombie books before this one, but they all sounded the same so I was interested to see how Nazarea was going to make her book different. The zombies were in some ways similar, but in others not so much. This book had a kick-ass heroine, a delicious male, a little romance, tons of action, and lots and lots of zombies.

Ren is a 'first'. She was born the day that the world ended. She would do anything for those she cares most about no matter what she has to endure along the way; which is one of the things why I really liked her. She can handle things from a revolver to a knife without difficulty; she's a complete badass.

Then there's the drool-worhty Finn. I liked his take-charge attitude. Even though I found some stuff out about him, he's still a complete mystery. I want to know why he is the way he is. The sexual tension between him and Ren is thick. I loved the arguments and digs between these two and can't wait to see if their relationship develops into something more than animosity. They definitely feel something for one another, but I wonder what will happen and how it will happen between these two.

We meet a few other characters along the way. Some I know we'll be seeing more of, but others I doubt it. The story is divided into four parts, I believe, and each part changes point of view between Ren and Finn; which I really liked.

The plot was interesting. The zombies are not your typical moaning/shuffling zombies. These zombies are super fast and I think even a little smart and look pretty disgusting. The Havens, where the people live, were interesting to see and learn about how they came to be. I also liked that it was explained how and why people became infected; I found that information interesting and somewhat different from what I know about zombies.

Overall, I really liked this book. It was different from what I was expecting and I love that the book took place after the end of the world rather than as the end of the world was happening. The heroine is pretty strong and the male main character is sexy but still a complete mystery. There was tons of actions and, of course, lots of zombies and some romance. I can't wait to learn more about these characters and see where they go from here. This being my first Nazarea Andrews book, I did not know what to expect. After reading The World Without a Future, I will definitely read more by her.

Overall Rating: 4 Rockin’ ★★★★

OMG! Nazarea Andrew’s, The World Without a Future Book 1, was unbelievably awesome! The characters were well thought out and very well developed. I was gripping the edges of my book as I was reading this story.

Nurrin Sanders or better known as “Ren” was born on the day that the world ended or better said the day the zombies took over the world. She has never known anything else than living behind the walls of the Haven’s that were set up to protect the humans. When the walls are breached by the “infects”, Ren’s world in turned upside down, as if it could get any worse. She is thrust into danger all around her, but the biggest danger seems to be her heart. The one man she despises the most and cannot stand is the only ally she has and she must learn to trust him. In order to find her brother she has to rely on the one man who makes her blood boil…on a simmer!

Finn O’Malley is running from his past and trying to live in the present even if it is in a zombie filled apocalyptic world. He has so many demons chasing him and he doesn’t like to share any of them. However, the one person who seems to be able to blur some of those lines is Nurrin, but he can’t ever cross that line. His main concern is to keep her safe, keep her alive.

Will they survive this new “end of the world”? Can Nurrin find comfort in Finn with all the craziness going on? READ THIS BOOK!! The author did a beautiful job with the story and even though the circumstances seem grim, she infused love and passion throughout the entire book. Along with the anticipation of what was going to happen next, this book is epic! I was totally engrossed from the beginning and it left me wanting more! Bravo, Nazarea!

Hero – Finn O’Malley 4.5 stars
Heroine – Nurrin Sanders 4.5 stars
Steam Level: 3.5 stars
Plot: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger: Yes!

Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you want a thrilling apocalyptic love story, this is the one to read!
Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Absolutely! Her style of writing is amazing! I will be watching you Nazarea!

So there is no end in sight for the humble zombie, they are still running or should it be stumbling across countries with their hunger for flesh destroying the population who get in their way and you know what I am so not tiring of them!

The World Without a Future is the first book in the World Without End series by Nazarea Andrews, set in a dystopian future where an infection has ravaged the population and turned them in to bloodthirsty monsters, the surviving few are hiding in Haven's trying to live their lives as normally as possible.

The main character is Nurrin is a first, she was born the day the world ended and she has never known a world without the infected, her life is uncomplicated, she lives with her brother Collin and is happily in a relationship with Dustin but her "happy" life is shattered when a horde attacks the Haven and she is left with no option but to run with her brother, boyfriend and her brothers best friend Finn who is not high on Nurrin's list of favourite people.

As they run for their lives, Finn realises that the infected are changing, they seem to be adapting for the worst but he soon has other things on his mind, once Dustin becomes infected, Finn and Nurrin leave him to try and get him an antidote, leaving Collin behind to look after him.

Finn and Nurrin cannot stand one another, though I think she hates him the most however they do have chemistry in spades but Nurrin still has Dustin and the thought of get him the medicine he desperately needs drives her on.

Nurrin is such a strong character, some women in these stories can come across as a bit needy and always needing a man to save them, Nurrin is more than capable of making her way in the world by herself but she does need Finn to help her get in to the other Havens, his name opens doors but he won't reveal why.

The World Without A Future is a great read, some of the scenes with the infected are truly terrifying, Nazarea has done really well painting her picture of North America on its knees and she has created some amazing characters that you will root for and in the case of Finn, fall in love with a little bit.

Perfect for fans of dystopia and zombie fiction!

Wow! Come check out full review with an amazing giveaway on my blog!

I received a copy of The World Without a Future for an honest review.

Nurin is a First born on the first day of the zombie apocalypse. The world as her parents and brother knew is gone and now hell on earth is all anyone knows. Behind the gated community where everyone carries weapons before they go anywhere and infections of any kind can get you killed all Nurin has is her brother.

When Haven 8 where Nurin lives is breached by hundreds of zombies Nurin, Dustin her boyfriend and best friend, her brother Collin and her worst enemy and Collins best friend Finn are all who escape the supercharged zombies who will stop at nothing to wipe out all the living. Escaping was one thing but when they think they’ve reached safety they realize Dustin has a cut and it’s becoming infected. With only days to find a cure Nurin convinces Finn to take her to find the cure.

I am honestly not sure how I feel about this book. I love Nazarea Andrews books which is the main reason I signed up for this blog tour despite the fact that I loathe all things zombie. I figured Nazarea would make zombies into something I never expected. I was right. The zombies in The World Without a Future while the same terrifying creatures you would read or see anywhere else these zombies aren’t slow, they’re super-fast. They love to eat people still and mostly seem mindless but there’s the twist they aren’t all that mindless in how they are taking people out. I can’t explain more than that because that would be spoilery but seriously freaky!

I liked Nurin a lot although she does scream a lot which was kind of annoying for someone who grew up knowing nothing but nasty zombies. Finn….yeah I may just have to leave that because I can’t tell if I like him or not. He seems kind of emotionally detached except for wanting to have the sexy time a lot, with Nurin.

Really loved the dual POV and honestly The World Without a Future was pretty good. I enjoyed it and am super excited about the sequel!

I'm not a huge fan of Dystopian novels, and neither do I particularly enjoy reading about zombies, but this book blew me away. It was fantastic. I was so enthralled, I literally finished this book in three hours because I was glued to my Kindle.

Andrews is an amazingly talented author, who has created and exciting, fast-paced, action-packed thrill ride that kept me riveted all the way through. This story reminded me a bit of Julie Kagawa's Blood of Eden Series, only the psycho-crazed vampires and Rabids were replaced with Infects/zombies and a weird bunch of cult members out for blood; but Andrews's zombies are not your normal slow-moving, moaning variety - they're fast, vicious and determined.

Ren's story was interesting, and there was a bit of mystery behind why it was so important for her to go unnoticed on Day One. I had to wonder why this was so important, and what made her so different from everyone else, besides having been born on the day the world, as we know it, ended. When the truth was revealed and she witnessed first hand how evil the Order was, my heart was in my throat and I was so nervous that she'd be discovered and become their next victim.

I gravitated towards Finn immediately. He was this arrogant "there's-no-one-like-me" bad boy but his actions spoke louder than his angry words, and when the story switched to his POV his thoughts and feelings came through even louder. He had a good heart but something in his past made those walls stay up, and he still seemed to be running from it.

I'm excited for this series to continue. I'm excited to see what will transpire between Ren and Finn, and what really happened to Collin and Dustin. Will the zombie hordes wipe out all the Havens, or will the uninfected find a way to take back the world?

I was actually on the fence when I bought this book. The reviews were pretty good, but a few people complained about the characters, so I wasn’t sure how it was going to be. Luckily, I rather enjoy hard to love characters with lots of damage and baggage. These characters can kind of be jerks at times, so be prepared.

This story starts twenty years after the zombie apocalypse started, which isn’t usually my favorite thing. It’s a cool thing to speculate about, but I really like the survival aspect of zombie stories. With this one, it didn’t matter because not too long into the book Nurrin (Ren), her brother Collin, her boyfriend Dustin, and her brother’s best friend Finn (who she loathes) have to make a run for their lives. Of course, there are some complicated reasons as to why Ren and Finn don’t get along and without a doubt they are thrust into a situation where they just have to be alone. I thought the chemistry between them was really enjoyable, the world created in this book was both interesting and believable, and I loved the idea of The Order and the hunting of The Firsts. It was a fast read and kept me interested. I only wish the sequel were out already! You only have to wait until July, though. I sent as message to Ms. Andrews on Twitter when I realized I was more than halfway through and she eased my worries.

I only have two real complaints about this book. The first is that at times it was difficult to tell who was talking. A few more dialog tags or clearer actions with the characters to help keep track of who was saying what would have been nice. I think that was just inexperience on the author’s part, though. My second complaint was that I don’t really know what Finn looked like. Ren never really described him, so he was kind of a blur.
