Claire Foster and Jake Montgomery are freelance insurance investigators in San Francisco, California. They work when they want to and take the particular cases they want to, but the next case they have is one that Claire stumbles into…literally. Claire not only has a hard time convincing her partner Jake she saw a dead man walking, but they both have the difficult time getting the police on board. To top everything else off, Jake tries to jump start Claire’s love life by painting a romantic adventure of marrying a handsome foreigner so he can get a green card. Trying to solve a triple homicide and convincing family and friends that a harmonious union is about to take place, makes the investigators’ lives as bumpy and hilly as the streets in their home city.
I really liked this novel, but I am at a loss to characterize it. After fifty eight years as an active reader, I absolutely love cross-genre novels, and this book includes a skillful mix of genres. I opened the book expecting a standard detective mystery novel, but it far exceeded those limited expectations. The story excels in different genres at different points. The plot, perhaps, is a very timely plot in 2017. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS: ROMANTIC ADVENTURE DETECTIVE MYSTERY
This book was painful to read for a grammar perfectionist. For example!e the use of brought for bought, stoked instead of stroked, and improper verb tenses. Very poorly edited. With that said, the story line engaged me. However, if the sequels are as poorly edited I cannot force myself to read them.
This was a fast moving story about 2 best friends who get into all kinds of trouble together. The action is non stop as they crash through life. Then the real fun begins with all kinds of exciting adventures. I have a feeling that this team will be back in another book.
I loved this story, and cannot wait to find out where Ben and Claire's relationship will go. Will they? Won't they. I hope this author hurries to get out the next installment!!!
