You shouldn’t be attracted to your partner in the school supply drive. Right?
Keira Hughes closed herself off after the tragic loss of her husband. Raising her two boys, work, and the annual school supply drive were the only things that mattered. Until a cobalt blue-eyed temptation stumbled into her life and called her ‘Queenie.’
Ronan Sullivan left his life as a literary agent to start over in Point Harbor as their new community outreach director. Making the school supply drive a success was his only goal. Until he met Keira and her two adorable boys and realized he needed a queen and princes in his life.
Can two people move past their old pain and loss to find a new happy ever after?

Ruby James is a pen name of a wife, business owner, and author living in the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico). The name is in honor of my parents, who are no longer with me but supported me in my wild, crazy ideas and choices growing up.
A transplant from the Washington, DC area, I moved to Albuquerque with my soon-to-be husband in 2006. A former healthcare claims specialist, I left to start my own virtual assistant company, Juniper Administrative Services, in 2022 to focus on my writing. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made. With a different kind of stress, I can finally say I enjoy what I do.
I am a proud curvy woman in midlife. A hippie chick that believes in a body-positive message, kind words (though that is hard some days when on the phone with PayPal and cable). I am a Marvel nerd, classic rock fan, and avid reader with a slight addiction to coffee, chocolate, and cheesecake. My home is ruled by Queen Random, our gorgeous tuxedo cat (yes, that’s her below supervising edits).

I’ve read the other two books in this series and I will say this is just as cute and sweet. There isn’t any drama, just two people developing their second chance at love. Keira’s boys were so adorable and the way Ronan was all about Keira and her boys was heartwarming. It was also nice to see the rest of the gang show up, and it felt natural, not like they were taking away from our main couple.
This is a clean story, and I mean very clean. There isn’t even a mention of spicy times so just keep that in mind.
My only gripe is that it ended pretty abruptly.
Overall a nice light read if you need a palate cleanser in between your heavier reads.
Ronan’s Queen is a beautiful, very easy to read, romance story that follows a chance meeting between Ronan and Keira in the small town of Point Harbor. Ronan is divorced and starting a new chapter of his life, having moved from city-life to be nearer to his family and friends. His new career as Point Harbor’s Community Outreach Director allows him to focus his energies into helping the less fortunate members of the community.
Ronan has no thoughts of a new relationship until a chance meeting with a single mother and her two young sons. He soon discovers that she is Keira, a colleague with whom he has been emailing to support her planned school drive. The narrative gently follows their friendship as Ronan and Keira get to know one another and each start to wonder whether they’re open to a new romance and how Keira’s children might affect that. We also quickly learn that Keira is an amputee and a widow, traumas that, to some extent, have built a wall around her heart. Could, and would Ronan want to, remove that wall to gain Keira’s trust and her heart?
All of the characters in this book are highly likeable. I particularly enjoyed the portrayal of Keira’s sons who are bright, full of energy and fun; and also Georgia, Ronan’s older assistant, who has known Keira since she was a child and takes Ronan under her wing. The book also has an underlying social message since both Ronan and Keira are passionate about helping their community and making the school drive (a fundraiser to provide disadvantaged school pupils with the resources they need) a success.
Overall, Ronan’s Queen is a heart-warming second-chance romance that has the reader wanting the best for all characters and wanting to find out what the future holds for Ronan and Keira. I very much enjoyed it and plan to read the other titles from this series by Ruby James. I should also point out that, whilst this is part of a series, Ronan’s Queen can be read as a stand alone title.
