Set in New Orleans in the Post-Katrina era, Gutter Punks is a dark and graphic look at a group of lost and disenfranchised youths as they struggle with an array of personal turmoil and mostly self imposed grief. The story begins with a suicide of a beloved friend and flashes back to explain how such an awful end might seem reasonable, given the proper circumstances, as an unnamed protagonist leaves his home in Oklahoma for Louisiana on a holiday only to find more of the same troubles he was hoping to leave behind. On the streets of New Orleans, he falls in with a group of friends, each more troubled than the last, and all set on some form of self destruction as they twist and turn themselves through troubled relationships and the consequences of their chosen addictions.
