Colleen Playfair has never been to Scotland, but when she discovers she must spend a year and a day overseas learning to manage her newly inherited estate, she's ready for the challenge. She even has some ideas for improvements-if she can get past the sexy werewolf who seems convinced he's the one in charge.
But he's digging in his claws...
Grant MacQuarrie and his clan have been managing Farraige Castle for three centuries. The last thing he wants is a meddling American heiress trying to change the way things have always been done. He's more than willing to fight the she-wolf every step of the way, using every tool at his disposal. And if that means taking the lass to bed, well...all the better.
Locked in a battle of wills, caught in an attraction they can't escape, Colleen and Grant must find a way to work together...or face losing it all.
Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.
She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

Initial Thoughts: Terry Spear writes the most entertaining werewolf books. I don't know, whenever I read her books, I have this huge goofy smile on my face. They are just that fun. Imagine a huge castle in Scotland filled with brawny werewolves in kilts and nothing else. Have I got your attention yet? Hero of a Highland Wolf was a blast to read.
The Review: It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Terry Spear and her paranormal romance series. Her werewolf books are a lot of fun to read. Can you think of a series that has both SEALs and Highlanders? Well, the Heart of the Wolf series does. So when I saw Hero of a Highland Wolf available for review, I jumped at the chance to read and share my love of this series. I mean, come on, Scottish Highland Castles, nicely oiled brawny werewolves in kilts, sword fights - who could ask for more?
As in the previous books, Hero of a Highland Wolf focuses on a main couple: Grant MacQuarrie and Colleen Playfair. Grant's pack are the caretakers of Farriage Castle which Colleen has just inherited. Grant is afraid that Colleen will turn his pack out so he hatches a plan: Scare Colleen off by staging a sword fight and medieval feast so that she will refuse to stay at the castle. The joke's on Grant as Colleen is best friends with Julia who has let Colleen know about the plans. She takes out her video camera and films the men's sword play. Men - 0, Women - 1.
This book was a lot of fun to read, especially once Grant acknowledges that he is attracted to Colleen. The romance builds slowly and is punctuated by misunderstandings and danger. When they finally get together, the two are smoking hot!
The supporting cast was wonderful. I loved the camaraderie of the members of the pack, especially when they helped push Grant towards mating Colleen (they even signed a petition). The ladies' pirate party was a hoot, especially when the men crashed the party.
What's nice about these books is that you really do not need to read each book in the series consecutively. Each book stands on its own, however for optimal reading pleasure, you'll want to read them all. If you have not yet had a chance to read this series, go ahead and start with this book. It will give you a nice taste of the author's writing and her wonderful sense of humor.
Oh, what do Highland wolves wear under their kilts? You guessed it!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a review copy of this book.
Review posted on Badass Book Reviews. There's also a giveaway of the book, too. (ends Aug 10, 2014)
I really enjoyed this paranormal romance with plenty of action that moved right along. I particularly liked that both alpha hero and heroine were assertive or accepting as the situation warranted. I found myself smiling at many of the antics. Werewolf Colleen inherits an estate in Scotland and must spend a year there where her manager Grant is prepared to fight any changes she wants.
Life in the Highlands is never easy. Especially if you are an ancient clan of Wolf Shifters who have no land of your own. Instead you have been gifted with the management of another Clan's Castle.
Terry Spear takes us back to the Highlands with Hero of a Highland Wolf (just in-case the title didn't give it away). It seems Scotland remains a country of mystique and magic. A place where there will always be someone who thinks they can just take what isn't theirs.
Colleen Playfair has been raised on American Soil cut off from her Scottish ties. When she inherits the Clan's castle with the caveat that she must live in Scotland for a year to claim it, she is excited. A year to discover her roots and to visit with a lifelong friend who lives as the Alpha Female to a clan not too far away, The MacNeills who also have close ties to the The MacQuarrie's who manage her castle. Seems pretty cut and dried, only The MacQuarrie's have an interesting welcome for her.
Clan chief Grant MacQuarrie has dealt with the Playfair heirs in the past. Never a pleasant job. While he loved the original Playfair and served her diligently, he despised her son.. and now her granddaughter who refused to ever meet the grandmother who adored her, is coming. He doesn't want her there. He is sure she plans to disrupt the running of the estate and destroy what has worked for centuries. His plans to move her to a local bed and breakfast for the duration of her stay are slightly inspired. Too bad Colleen has his number.
This was just a lot of fun! Plenty of headbutting due to an arrogant wolf who is sure he is right. It would have been perfect had he bothered to gather all the facts.. instead he has met his match and his mate. Now he just needs to convince her.
Of course what's a Scottish novel without some intrigue? And Grant and Colleen discover some secrets of the past that play into the present. Murders that went unproven and greed that remains.
I adore Ms. Spear's books and this one is no different. Strong characters with unique personalities. A gorgeous setting and powerful enemies.. Yep another great book.!!

Terry Spear is my favorite "shifter" author... That said, this book missed it's mark for me.
Hot Highlander wolves?? What else could you ask for! I am a faithful follower & I still like the stories, each pretty fun & entertaining...
TS usually has a purpose for her character descriptions & backgrounds. This one made no sense. Colleen had been mated twice to beta wolves. So? Why? It didn't matter. Never came up as to why, so who cares. She could have never been mated, it wouldn't play any part in this story except that it was mentioned. It only made her seem old. So... Then because of that I wonder about the age thing & talking about the older wolves being around in old days. What makes a wolf young or old. Colleen & Grant were old, but written as young, where aunts and uncles were old. Wolves live a long time, so how did Colleen's mates (both of them) die under normal circumstances?? Geez I was confused! All in all, none of this matters, but it isn't consistent with the other books. I did miss a couple in the series, so I'm not sure about the changes.
I was just bothered by the fluff. Things thrown in without purpose & I was looking for the reasons to show themselves & it never happened. For me, I never liked Colleen. There was no surprise. Only a stiff bossy alpha female. I pictured old corporate divorcee, with clock ticking, with no life time frame. Maybe I was asking too much.
I wish...
-The Pirate flag would have played out more humiliating to the men. -Colleen had never mated before. -Grant would have been more embarrassed in the beginning of the book with his mock fight with Ian -The wolfhounds played more of a part than dog training. -The ghost actually played a part -Book discrepancies played a bigger part with the intro of the villain
I was pretty satisfied with the book from the pirate party on. I had a mental rearrangement of character descriptions & made them younger than portrayed early on. The pirate party was fun, but the antagonism should have lasted longer.
Oh well, I can't have everything!! I am still a faithful follower!!
Colleen Playfair inherited her family castle in Scotland with one stipulation, she must live their for a year and a day. She is excited about the new prospect. Colleen's best friend was also mated by a Scotland wolf shifter, and she is looking forward to seeing her as well.
Grant MacQuarrie's family has managed the Farraige Castle for years. He will do anything to keep the Playfair heir from interfering with his pack and the castle that the pack has made their home.
Colleen didn't know Grant was a wolf shifter, but she isn't going to just let his alpha ways intimidate her. It becomes a fun battle of wills with a chemistry that can't be denied.
Spear had me with all those KILTS, but kept me with a wonderfully delightful romance, action, swordplay, and a villain with malicious intent. Straight out, I loved Hero of a Highland Wolf. Packed full of witty, intelligent, and engaging shifter characters, the story flowed at a perfect rate to keep me riveted to the pages.
Don't miss this perfect shifter romance; you won't be disappointed.
I received this ARC copy of Hero of a Highland from Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for an honest review. This book is set for publication August 5, 2014.
An American pure Alpha she-wolf verses an KILT wearing arrogant Alpha Scot wolf! Who will win these War of Wills?
Colleen Playfair just inherited the Scottish Farriage Castle, but according to the will she must live there for 1 year & 1 day to claim it. She is a royal female werewolf, can change at will, has out live 2 mates, survived her Father's drunken rages & is a total Alpha, so she can out last & out smart Grant MacQuarrie, the human manager & overseer of all Playfair properties.
Grant MacQuarrie is the manager of the castle & all properties, just like his grandfather & father & is Alpha of his own pack. These lands are in his blood & no she-wolf is going to take it away from him. With the help of his triplet brothers, Enrick & Lachlan, & neighbor Ian MacNeil & his pack, he is going to make her uncomfortable & drive her insane, until her runs back to America with her Alpha tail between her legs. First up is to make all the men look like Barbarians, with only wearing Kilts, oiled up skin, strapped with sword & dirks & doing a mock battle when she arrives.
As Colleen is driving there, she receives a call from her BFF, Julia Wildthorn, mate to Ian MacNeil, about the mock battle that Grant is going to perform. So with this info she drives into the mock battle, smells wolves, is pissed because her "I am so glad he's dead" dad lied again, pulls out her video recorder & prays that the wind lifts up more than just 1 kilt. Grant & Ian are battling as she takes video & still pics of his amazing a$$, while Grant is shocked that everyone of his KILT wearing wolves are not fighting, but watching the delicious female, with the sexy transparent skirt. So the War of Wills begins, both Alphas flexing their muscles, with uncontrollable wolf hounds, endless whiskey, a drunk sea wall walk, switching bedrooms & crawling under the covers of an occupied bed & that is just the first night.
The next morning the enemy arrives in the form of Archibald Borthwick, as he tries to woo Colleen & comes on way to strong, that she politely makes him leave. Colleen is determined to prove she is the owner, so she takes Grant's room & asks for a tour of the properties. Grant is shocked that she loves the land, plays like a child on the hills, but loves to watch her gorgeous arse climbing or just walking. Colleen is fighting the sensual temptations that he pours out in gallons, but their 1 kiss makes desire pool down her body. Grant is dying walking around with a continuous tented pants & wishes he could just wear his KILT. With exploding sensual kisses, a reckless girls day & night boxer party, dominant clashes of wills, warring wolves, the pushing & creepy Archibald, many oil covered KILT wearing SCOTS (I love a Scot in a KILT), investigating the many mysterious deaths of Grant's family, reconnecting Colleen to family roots & their love affair of erotic temptations to make these 2 Alphas call a truce for their love! Can Grant let her flex her Alpha? How will Colleen deal with an Alpha, when her other mates were betas? Who is at the center of all the over the sea wall deaths? Will Colleen open her eyes before it's to late? When with they use their hearts instead of the Alphas' wills? But most importantly, where can I get my own oil cover KILT wearing SCOT for my personal use?
My absolutely favorite hero is a KILT wearing SCOT because HELLO yummy sexiness! Ms. Spear give me not 1, but to 2 packs full of oiled up KILT wearing SCOTS slinging swords & I will be honest & say I didn't want to leave that lickable world. Colleen is such a male Alpha at heart & she got a lot help from her friends. With Julia & her new pack behind Colleen, she lead her Alpha on a merry & hilarious path. Grant is such a MALE with all his traditions, rules & customs, but he had to break many to claim his true mate. This tale had a kooky & quirky cast with Enrick, Lachlan, Darby, Maynard, Ian, Julia & her gang of female friends & I spent a lot of time of Ms. Spear's website to look at her other wolf tales. Now romance need seduction & unleashed desires & again I say KILT wearing SCOT, need I say more. I will say more because this romance had MORE, with it's silky caresses, little & huge buildups of ecstasy, but my FLAME RESISTANT UNDIES held up by a singed string. Ms. Spear created a paranormal romance world that was full of clashing wills of 2 pure Alphas, with Animal Magnetism at the core, but included a cast of unique & meddling pack family. She has earned my score of 4 fingers up & 8 toes & I can't wait for the next one!
Review: Terry Spear delivers a laugh-out-loud, HOT & sexy, page-turning story in Hero of the Highland Wolf
I became hooked on shifter romances years ago and one of the people I blame for this addiction is author Terry Spear. Yes, that’s right, when I began to read Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series, I was hooked. Why? Because Spear creates a fabulous, believable shifter world.
No, I didn’t start looking at my neighbors too closely (though I did wonder about that coyote/wolf that began wandering around). Seriously, though, Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series combines believable protagonists that are shifters whom I’d love to have move in next door. (Yes, quite a few hunky alphas in this group.)
In addition, Spear is a writer who makes every detail clear for her readers. We can see this Heart of the Wolf world take form in front of us with each page we turn. Each of the books include not only charismatic protagonists, but also exciting stories that keep the reader turning page after page.
This spring, I reread the entire series and enjoyed it even more as the details that thread each story and link each book to one another were so clear and well-integrated. The stories may be set in the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, Maine, or Scotland, but there are themes and characters that remain consistently as touchstones for her readers.
Beginning with book seven, Heart of the Highland Wolf, Spear introduces us to some fabulous wolf shifter clans of Scotland. Think HOT Scottish lairds - in kilts - who are also alpha wolves that speak with a bit of a brogue. (Fanning my face right now.)
Her fourteenth book in the series, Hero of a Highland Wolf (pub date: 4 Aug 2014), is a fabulous read. I was hooked from the moment that Colleen Playfair, an American she-wolf, arrives in Scotland to investigate her inheritance - a castle and property that is managed by the MacQuarrie clan.
Laird Grant MacQuarrie is HOT, surly, and not at all happy that the American is coming to live in his castle for a year and a day. He has several plans to make her uncomfortable, beginning with a scene that I could see - like a news clip - play out before my eyes. A field of kilt-wearing Scottish hunks, bare-breasted (and oiled), dueling with one another in front of a battle-scarred castle. And Spear answers definitively that question that we all ask at one time or another. “What does a Scotsman wear beneath his kilt?” (Fanning face yet again.)
Add in the HOT romance between Grant and Colleen, a few ghosts, some mischievous wolfish brothers, an American best-friend now married to a neighboring wolf-clan laird (see book 10 for her story), innumerable witty interchanges, and a very jealous, vindictive wolf and you have a story that you cannot put down.
That’s right. Hero of a Highland Wolf by Terry Spear is a laugh-out-loud funny, slightly mysterious, engrossing, cannot-put-it-down read.
Just remember, you can never go wrong picking up one of Terry Spear’s shifter romances. I do recommend you read the series, because it’s just that good. But you don’t have to in order to enjoy each book. In my opinion, Spear’s series sets the bar for other writers to emulate as she’s just the top in this genre.
Five stars
(I received an eARC from the publisher via NetGalley for use in this review.)
Hero of a Highland Wolf is the 14th book in the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. It is currently scheduled for release on August 5 2014. It is not necessary to read the prior books to enjoy any of the books in this series. The MacQuarrie werewolf clan has overseen the Playfair family’s Ardmore Castle for three centuries. So when a Playfair granddaughter from abroad inherits the estate, clan chief Grant MacQuarrie is not happy about having her in his way. Colleen Playfair is excited and apprehensive about her new role at the castle, but is ready for the challenge. She knows that the stubborn Grant won’t make things easy, but she has some surprises of her own.
Hero of a Highland Wolf is a fun paranormal romance. What American werewolf can say that they own a Scottish castle? Not many, but Colleen is rather excited to be one. She wants the change of scenery and does not want to change anything unless she thinks necessary. Grant remembers Colleen's father, and he was nothing but trouble/ He thinks that Colleen will follow in his footsteps so he is determined to make things as hard as possible for her. However, her good nature and willingness to learn and listen change everything. It does not hurt that the pair have an almost instant attraction. The werewolf bit has its role to play, and there is deception and life threatening moments to keep readers guessing, but it is the personalities of Grant and Colleen that keep the pages turning. I loved the surprises they each had in store for the other, and I am sure to pick up any other book in this series that I run across.
I highly recommend Hero of a Highland Wolf to readers that like contemporary romance, men in kilts, paranormal romance, and suspense. The book has a little bit of everything and comes together just about perfectly. I have read a few books in this series, and my only real issue with any of them is that the official blurb never really matches what you get. I do not mind, because what is actually in the book has turned out to be better than promised each time.
Ah, those Highland wolves should just RUN when American woman arrive on their doorsteps. They really stand no chance of keeping their hearts to themselves! This is #14 in Ms. Spear's Heart of the Wolf Series. It's a stand alone, although you'll probably want to read the others, because, really...SHIFTERS! Hot Highland SHIFTERS!
Colleen arrives at the castle that she's inherited. She's been forewarned by her best friend that the manager, Grant, of the property is going to try and scare her off. Not that a whole bunch of Highland warriors, wearing kilts and swinging broadswords, would cause her to scarper off. Nope, she's tickled at all the shirtless and oiled men that fill her courtyard.
She is surprised that the men are all shifters. Her father, a jackass if there ever was one, had griped that they were all human.
Once again there are some steamy times as these two work to find their way together. There's a party, with a pirate theme, that had me giggling.
Yep, the Highland wolves should just roll over and show their soft underbellies when the American women come to them. I will definitely be reading more from Terry Spear. Good then she's so prolific!
*Thank you, NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca, for the opportunity to read Hero of a Highland Wolf
If I had known Scotland has such a promising view I would have visited last year, "I'm enjoying the fighting. What a delightful..." She caught her breath as the wind swept Gran'ts kilt upward again and she got another toned-butt view. Snap, snap. She took some hot shots that time. Omigod, if she only had such a gorgeous gluteus maximums. "Beautiful...show." I mean poor Colleen really had a rough night her first night especially with all that whiskey she consumed, "he hadn't expected her to pass out. Why couldn't she have just admitted she couldn't handle liquor and given up the deception that she could? He sat there for the longest time - at least it seemed that way to him - as he tried to decide what to do next. Her head was resting on his groin, which had a mind of it's own as it began to react to the woman's touch." I mean Colleen couldn't help that she was going to be sick and there was only that closest bathroom that Grant was using, "bloody hell," Grant said under his breath and yanked a towel off the rack, but he didn't cover himself in time before Colleen turned her pale face in his direction and got an eyeful of his aroused state." I mean when in Colleen's presence the boy only has one thing on his mind: "I couldn't have him feeling bad about whatever it was, and he needed to apologize to you. Are you done with you budgeting?" "Only for the farms and the household budget. What did you have in mind?" "Hot sex." He released her and locked the study door. I can't wait to see what characters are next I'm kinda hoping it's Calla.
This is another 5 star book by one of my favorite authors. I started reading and couldn’t put it down. In no time at all I was finished and left want more!
Colleen Playfairis a wolf shifter and has recently inherited her family castle in Scotland. She must now stay at the castle for a year and a day and oversee how it is run. The good news is she doesn’t have to keep her secret of being a shifter because her castle is run by a clan of wolf shifters led by Grant MacQuarrie.
Grant doesn’t want her there. He has already had the displeasure of having to deal with her father. Since Colleen never came to visit her grandmother he assumes she is just like father. He soon realizes she is nothing like him and now he wants to make sure she doesn’t leave…
Hero of a Highland Wolf is the fourteenth book in the Heart of the Wolf series. Please don’t let that scare you! If you love yummy PR books that involve shape shifters in kilts then hands down this is the series you should be reading. You can read this book as a standalone but why would you? Start at the very beginning and just work your way through with these enjoyable stories. You will not regret it!
4.5 Hearts This is the 14th in the series and I have to say I have only read one other which I enjoyed and plan to go back and read the whole series but I really loved this book. Colleen and Grant had an interesting connection. They really hit it off right from the start. I adored Colleen. I want to be her friend. She has a great sense of humor and is snide and quick witted. I also liked she was alpha. So many times we hear about the men being alpha but it was great to have the girl be it too.
Grant is great. He is so alpha and yet can be so adorable. I loved him and everyone else for that matter at the ladies party. I could not stop smiling. They are just so cute during that exchange. I can’t wait for the other two triplets to get their stories.
I really enjoy this series. I enjoy the humor that Spear adds to her paranormal romance. If you are a fan of shape shifters then you will really enjoy this book. You do not need to have read the series to read this book even though you will certainly want to go back and read them all.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF by Terry Spear is a wonderful romance featuring titillating, brawny, kilted Highland wolves! The tale is riveting as I had to stay up until the early morning to finish it. :-) HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF is the fourteenth novel in her Heart of the Wolf series. Each of these books can be easily read as standalones even though there are interconnected characters. If you can, I highly recommend reading all the books in this series as they are all fantastically fun! This particular book is the story of Laird Grant MacQuarrie and Lady Colleen Playfair.
Hero of a Highland Wolf is an entertaining and unique take on the wolf shifter story. Colleen is a strong alpha wolf in her own right and arrives in Scotland to claim her inheritance by staying the requisite year and a day. I really enjoyed the way that Colleen's character was portrayed. Colleen is smart, compassionate, and down to Earth which makes her character very likable. Grant, being an alpha himself has his own plans for the irksome and unwanted Colleen. If his plan to scare her away right off the bat doesn't work he plans to put an end to any and all of her potential ideas and suggestions for change. Colleen, however, is much more than Grant anticipated and he is quickly left off center as his well crafted plans quickly goes pear shaped. Grant finds that he needs to regroup and rethink his approach to Colleen. It's always fun to follow the main male character when he is forced to readjust his behavior and reevaluate what he believes to be true. For Grant, Colleen is nothing like what he expected and he quickly finds that it is he who will have to bend a bit this time around.
The reader gets a glimpse of Spear's sense of humor in her writing right from the beginning when Colleen arrives at the castle and it continues to be evident straight throughout the book, even when dealing with unwanted suitors with nefarious intent. This book is a smartly written story that made me wish that I had been with this series from the beginning. Spear presents a solid story that is entertaining and moves at a good pace. Hero of a Highland Wolf is book 14 of the Heart of the Wolf series and although I read this as a stand alone and thoroughly enjoyed it, I would have probably enjoyed it a bit more if I was already entrenched into this world. However, sexy wolf shifters oiled up for battle and wearing kilts can overcome all kinds of obstacles when jumping into a story! If you are are a fan of paranormal romance Hero of a Highland Wolf is a safe bet for an entertaining make you happy read! I will definitely be reading more of Terry Spear's books in the future.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest reveiw.** You can find more from me at Monlatable Book Reviews http://www.monlatablereviews.com/
5 Stars...if I could give it much more I would without hesitation!
Terry Spear creates another masterpiece.
Colleen Playfair inherits a castle in Scotland and is there to see it and be there for awhile. Grant MacQuarrie already oversees this castle and is planning on giving her a welcoming that will be so intimidating, the new owner will just high tail it out of there, return to the U.S. and let him continue to do what he has been doing for centuries. So he thinks. He even recruits his best friend and neighbor to accomplish this as reinforcement to send this " older" woman home. So he thinks.
Colleen is ready for his little ploy. Little does he know, it is good to have friends in high places. This American wolf can be as stubborn as they cone when she wants to be.
Each one is planning on teaching the other some type of lesson. Low and behold for Grant, the Lass is beautiful, no old woman there. Immediately Sparks fly between these two, among other things. Let the war of the roses begin.
This book is just a hot, hot, passionate wolfish sizzle!!! This author has you falling for wolfishly delicious kilted highlanders. Great story!
Can't wait for her to continue with the next book soon....very soon please.
This is my recommendation of a great hot read in the Highlands!
Hero of a Highland Wolf is the 14th book in the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. I'm a fan of this series, so I was looking forward to this novel. Hero of a Highland Wolf is a good addition to the series. It is well written and I enjoyed it, however I wanted more time spent on developing the relationship. Everything moves so fast that you don't have time to really see what it is that makes them fall in love with each other. It is a fast paced and interesting read but I wanted more emotion.
The characters are likable and there is action and humor. I particularly enjoyed the part where the woman got together for a party and the men joined in. Their antics were very entertaining and amusing.
All in all, Hero of a Highland wolf is a good read. I would recommend this book and the entire Heart of the Wolf series to fans of paranormal romance.
I thought Colleen would end up befriending the last MacNeil and they would get rid of Grant and the remaining humans running the castle. The beginning was funny but I think she should've held off on telling them to make it even funnier. Not too much danger in this one but it was enough to keep you intrigued.
I want to start off by saying I am a huge fan of Terry Spear and her wolves. I've enjoyed the Highland series and this one is no different. The best thing about these novels is that Terry writes strong female characters not wilting flowers in distress. It leaves you with a feeling that there is love for everyone, especially the feisty opinionated people in the world. The setting is fantastic. You are able to picture the beauty of Scotland and feel a little pang of jealousy that Colleen gets not only to move there but get a castle? This novel works as a stand alone but I recommend reading the whole series, you won't regret it.
It's pretty sad when her father was a asshole that was a drink and much worse than she knew but those assholes Archibald r worse!! When she got there 2 do her 1 yr and 1 day, that is strange enough but at least she got a heads up on what 2 expect. I don't quite understand what exactly happened 2 her mom unless she was just like collateral damage cause of her asshole dad. Grant loves 2 show off but his ideas backfired on him lol but I'm his case it was a benefit.
Not my favorite of the series and felt it could have been a novella. I did enjoy the new characters that Terry introduced, a whole new pack for future stories of girls nights that you know will be crashed by kilted warriors. Colleen and Julia's friendship gives a strong connection to bring the packs together and more back story to characters we already love. It's the perfect gap book to give fresh faces for more highlander shifter stories.
Book Four had just about every element I adore. Colleen's friendship with Julia now establishes opportunities with the fun MacNeill clan, and the shenanigans of the highjacked girls' day/sleepover were riotous! There wasn't much thrilling danger, though, and I'm not sure how engaging I found the leads, Colleen and Grant; I do know I didn't like her multiple matings, which added nothing to the storyline. This author does excel at sexy Highlanders!
Oh my gosh! So good! I love how Terry Spear just makes her characters come to life! How real her characters seem to be when you start to read her books! This book in particular is so great that all of her previous characters just seem to come together and defeat evil. Now, all the single remaining characters have to do is wake up and realize that their love interests were there all along.
Idk what it was about this book but I liked this book more than the others in the series, which is not something I was expecting. I love how we went from Grant trying to chase Colleen away into trying to get her to mate with him. The pirate themed ladies night was also a nice touch 😂 it was a cute romance! Definitely a 5 🌟 read!
Can you imagine anything more romantic than a handsome man in nothing but a kilt. And to be a wolf shifter to top it off. What a way to start a book. The ending is pretty good too.
She's inherited the castle and must stay there for a year and a day. He's determined to run her off, but she's on to him. There's also another wolf who's trying to gain her affections.
