In Vietnam, he led a platoon in the Mekong Delta, faced combat assaults, and ultimately suffered a life-changing injury. For his combat service he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart, among others.
After retiring from the military in 1976, Mann moved to Alaska with his family, embracing a diverse professional path. His civilian career spanned roles in state and local government, high-tech companies, and management consulting. His academic pursuits, including a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning, and his contributions to public and private sectors showcase the multifaceted nature of his post-military life.
