[Ménage Amour: Erotic Paranormal Cowboy Ménage a Trois Romance, M/F/M, light bondage, sex toys, HEA]

Society doesn’t allow for three people to love each other. Lainey Markham knows this and is heartbroken. She has loved Tim Hughes and Spence McKade since she was a child and refuses to choose one man over the other. They call her their bridge. When she touches both of them, everything feels right, but she denies what is meant to be so her men won’t be hurt.

Spence and Tim have finally come to the realization that Lainey is their destined mate. They are determined that it’s about time Lainey realizes it, too. She is the woman who will be their friend, their lover, and the mother of their children. The hell with what society says. They will pursue her with purpose and will not give up until she is committed to them, living in their home, sleeping in their bed, and carrying their babies.

Note: This book contains double vaginal penetration.

Note: While Claiming Lainey is a stand-alone title, it is suggested that the previous titles in this series be read first for continuity.

Ms. Bernard has based this series on a scene from the past in which a crazed father finds that his daughter has fallen in love with an Indian brave and he is planning to beat them to death. When two of his cowboys come across him and some of his other hands they step in to try and protect the couple and disarm the man. The two brothers then take the couple to their parents home to recover and live. When their child is born they welcome it with joy and love. The Great Spirit saw it all and blessed the couple and the family that took them in, the McKades. From that time on, the family and those on their and are blessed with a mark of entwined rings appearing on their napes when they find their fated mate and all the mates accept the mating. The blessing prayer is passed down through the generations to be said asking the Great Spirit bless their mating. Even today, those on the McKade ranch know the story and follow the tradition of the prayer. Whether they choose to act on their destiny or not is up to them.

Lainey Markham, Timothy Hughes and Spencer McKade have known one another their entire lives. When Lainey was twelve she suddenly starts running shouting over her shoulder to the other girls walking with her that Timmy was hurt. What they find is Mr. Hughes once again beating his son, this time with a belt. Telling the others to go get help Lainey runs to use her body to cover Tim to protect him from his father's blows. Seventeen year old Tim grabs Lainey and tries to pull Lainey under him to shield her from the blows, but the belt tears a long gash in her arm. As the beating continues they suddenly hear hooves approaching as the McKades come to Tim's aid. In subduing the father Spencer is also injured along his jawline. Duece, Spencer's older brother, tells Timmy to get his things together so he could come live at his house and never return to his parents, he then tells Mr. Hughes to stay away from Timmy, the McKade family, and their property. He also warned he was calling the authorities for what he had done to Laney, Timmy and Spencer. Tim enters the house to find his mother eying him coldly as he goes to his room and gather his pitiful few worn clothes, school books and a small box from his dresser of his treasures including a rock given to him by Lainey.

The story takes up years later when the three friends are adults. Tim and Spence have decided the time has come to claim Lainey as their mate. Lainey on the other hand knows she loves both men but refuses to choose one over the other and knows that society as a whole will never accept a menage relationship. Their journey to resolve this problem is done with beautiful scenes and caring dialog. No one in the trio wishes to hurt the others, but they know their relationship is meant to be by fate. Spence and Tim tell Lainey she is their bridge which calms their souls and brings them peace. Lainey knows she feels complete whenever she is with both of her best friends. In addition Tim's father remains a threat on the horizon which culminates in a climactic event which introduces another mated pair to each other.

We also learn more about the other members of the McKade family and John's cousin Marc. We will learn more about how mated pairs and their markings work. With tears and laughter we follow Tim, Spence and Lainey on their journey to accepting their blessed mating or walking away from each other forever. Hope will fill your heart and you will wish you could live on the McKade ranch and find your true mate among the cowboys to be found there. If you haven't read John's Vision or Touching Deuce, books 1 & 2 in this series I recommend that you do. Each book can be read as a stand alone if you wish, but the sense of family, honor and integrity these books give will leave you hoping for a better tomorrow in a world that seems at times to have forgotten what those words stand for.

Lynnette Bernard also has a second ongoing series, The Beckett Pack, Triad Mates that is also not to be missed. Check them out today and envelop yourself in romance for a few hours.

So this series is one of those sweet “closed door” type that is trying to be mature by leaving the door open and going for a bit of kink because the men are dominant. Saccharine sweet and teenage angst level. Pretty flowery prose and everyone is grateful for their mate. there’s no external conflict of any note

Not good

Too boring. Story ok but could have developed more. Too much lovey talking. Just didn’t have it factor to make you want to read it.

Oh those McKade brothers are at it again and I really love it. Claiming Lainey is one of my favorites in this series because it touches on the realistic concerns of a ménage relationship and how love can overcome fear. The author starts the book with Spence, Lainey and Tim being teenagers and we see how Tim’s father was so abusive to Tim. Lainey and Spence come and save him and it was then that Tim became a McKade by love, not blood or legally.

After almost twenty years of being best friends the guys decide it is time to let Lainey know they want her as their mate, but she is terrified this will mean she will have to pick one of them and hurt the other, which she refuses to do. We watch Lainey as she goes through the process of accepting that she can have it all with both men and with each step of acceptance the author brings another reality to light.

Will Spence be fine if she is with Tim alone, will Tim accept if she compliments Spence and not him? What if they have children, will the man who isn’t the father feel left out. This wasn’t as easy as the men presented to her, sure they had two years to figure this out and be prepared for society to bash them, but she has had only a few hours. There is also a new surprise about the signs the Great Spirit leaves mates which warmed my heart and made this story even more precious.

In every book of this series the author brings powerful messages of broken people finding the love that has been in front of them since childhood and providing a level of suspense and love that makes the book impossible to put down. Once again she has a high level of passion this this book that will leave you sitting in front of the fan as our beautiful threesome try to figure out how this will work for all of them.

We also get to see more of Rafe and Becca and their struggle with the distance between them and Jake and Claire will have a part of the story. The Great Spirit knows who should be mates, but the humans are being a bit stubborn and making this more difficult than it needs to be.

I have said it before and I will keep repeating it, I love those McKade brothers and the whole family. Lynnette really proves that family isn’t always created by blood and law, this family is made up with love and loyalty. Grab this series and fall in love with this family just as I have.

4.5 Stars!

Well anyone who follows my reviews (or even listened to my interview) knows that Lynnette is one of my favorite authors! With each book that she releases, I am right on the front line buying my copy. I am very happy to say that this book didn’t let me down at all! I actually think it might be my favorite book of hers so far.
Her Cowboy Mates series is just an amazing series in general. One thing that I love about her characters is how realistic they are. They are not skinny 19 year olds who haven’t had anything happen to them in their lives. All of them have had things happen to them and they are still trucking along. But back to the story!!
We have met Lainey, Spencer and Tim in the previous books and one thing I enjoyed about that was we already have an understanding about their relationship. But even if you haven’t read the other books in the series, you can still just read this one and be able to understand what is going on. That is another thing that Lynnette does and it is a good thing, but also a bad thing to me. If you have followed the series then there are some parts that are repeats, but if you haven’t read the series than you will be able to follow along perfectly.
The characters in the book were expanded upon in great ways. We were lucky enough to learn more about the trio when they were younger and when they realized how they felt about each other. My only complaint about the characters is it felt at times the other characters seemed to take over the story. While it was great to catch up on the other couples, it felt like we lost track of the trio.
Overall, I did completely enjoy this book and let me tell you? The twist at the end? FREAKING AMAZING! That is all that I will say about it!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Claiming Lainey is the first book in Lynnette's Cowboy Mates series that include a menage relationship. I thought this was a nice solid story with realism do to what I assume, couples in this type of relationship would have in a menage relationship. It showed the complexity and tenacity of people going through a relationship and what they are willing to do and sacrifice to be happy and live the way THEY choose instead of what society thinks should happen. Claiming Lainey touched me with this story just because of that element and had me tearing up a few times as well as sighing over the men and the way they were determined to go through hell to claim Lainey.

As you can probably guess, I fell a little bit in love with Tim and Spence. Both men were great with each other, and they were both dedicated to Lainey's happiness and well being. Lainey was a real sweetheart even if she was a bit stubborn. She had a tenacity about her that was both cute and refreshing as well as a innocence that made her perfect for both Tim and Spence.

I did notice that some of the story had a repetitiveness to it, but with it being a full length novel and plus with the way the characters thought and how they tried to fight what was really meant to be, it made sense that there was a bit of repetitiveness. But in my opinion, it was well worth it and a great read nonetheless. I gave Claiming Lainey an OUTSTANDING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its sweet, sexy, and hot and the same time! It will leave you breathless and in need of VERY cold shower. Lynnette Bernard, you are one hell of a great writer!

Claiming Lainey was an emotional adventure for the reader from the first page, until the book ended - leaving you wanting more (or at least the next book in the series ASAP) from this fabulous author! Lynnette Bernard has a great talent (& one sometimes hard to find in many authors writing series books) to have the pertinent common details from the foundation of the book's story present and still allowing each book to be unique & special within its own storyline. I've read too many "series" lately where the main characters' names change but not a lot of other details beyond that do. Ms. Bernard writes in a way that the reader becomes almost as invested with the secondary characters (& cultivates interest in wanting/needing more information about them) as you do with the main characters! The heat produced in the sex/love scenes is intense (firehose intense) but no complaints here! The sex (even the intensity of those scenes) was at the same level Ms. Bernard wrote about the love, tenderness, fear of loss etc. She is not an author afraid to touch on emotions & have the reader experience them right along with the characters! A wonderful erotic ménage story that had meat on its bones so that the ménage isn't all the reader concentrates on! Great job by Lynnette Bernard and I can't wait for the next one!

I really do enjoy this author’s work. She has a bit of a different voice and the stories are unique. I love the back story here about the old legend and how the McCabe family is blessed. Always a big plus for me is that the books are not too short. They are nice and long and you can really sit back and enjoy it and feel like you got your fix!

I like Tim and Spence. The very obvious and inevitable pairings that are taking place in this series are each very sweet. The beginning of the book that goes back to when they were all younger and Lainey was a kid and loved her boys so much was truly heart wrenching and emotional. They are all very close and connected to each other. Lainey was frustrating at first because she was so clueless about the men. These days we can all read body language and energy pretty easily. Their need to be with her and take care of her really should have clued her in long before. But that was a small thing. They were a wonderful triad and they treated her like gold.

There were lots of very funny moments and also some clues as to who will come next. Melanie’s visions keep us all wondering what will happen!

Oh wow.....what more is there to say!!! I loved this book. I loved this trio 'Tim,Lainey&Spence' they were awsome, I loved their chemistry, I loved all the secondry characters, I loved the humor and the sad bits where I cried like a big girl haha, I loved the fact that they got the links on their mating mark when they fell pregnant and only moms and dads could see them and I LOVED the fact that both Tim&Spence were the farthers(that was for me my absolute favourite part of the book and I was so pleased for them)! So many things I loved about this story, so thank you Lynnette for another fantastic story and I'm so looking forward Jake & Claire's story!!!
