Matt Redstone is always up for a lark, but lately, the youngest Redstone brother has grown envious of his brothers' marital bliss.
The woman he's never forgotten...
When Matt is sent to Northern California to work out logistics on one of his family's projects, he finds himself working with a woman he's met before. A pretty little Florida panther named Morgan, who is as lovely as she is brilliant.
Destiny unites them...
Matt and Morgan must work together to uncover the sinister plot and those who would trigger a very un-natural disaster in order to bring an ancient evil back into the world.
Can they avert catastrophe while finally acknowledging the pull of the bond between them? Or will it all just be too little, too late?
Bianca D'Arc is the USA Today bestselling author of over 100 romance titles. She has been published traditionally, by a few notable small presses, and indie. Before becoming a full-time writer, she ran a laboratory, a legal department, and jetted around the country on business while working for a Fortune 500 engineering firm.
The Redstone clan are one of my favourite families and I have waited for Matt’s story since we first met him in the Brotherhood novel: Sweeter Than Wine.
While Matt always appears suave and happily single, a deeper longing exists within this sexy cougar shifter, and one unsuspecting woman is in his sights.
Matt is not necessarily the best story of the series, but if you’ve been captivated by Matt’s cheeky, fun-loving charm in the past, you can’t help but love this book!
So, this is confusing, but if you are a series reader, these are pretty good ones... just don't start with this book. Check the author's website for a suggested progression of this very long tale. I read the Brotherhood series way back, then started the others, which made some of this seem disjointed.
Closely related to Bianca D'Arc's Brotherhood of Blood series and The Lords of the Were.
A note by the author indicates that Tales of the Were intersects with her series Brotherhood of Blood.
After reading ToW Book 5 (Tales of the Were: Grif), you should read BoB Books 1-4, beginning with One and Only.
After BoB Book 4, Sweeter Than Wine, then you switch back to ToW Book 6, Tales of the Were: Red.
'Matt' was a long wait, it seemed. I liked it, but I didn't like it as much as I anticipated. Although there was some action in it, I found myself bored at times. Maybe it's because the earlier books (mostly) were really good and had big battles and fights.
And, I am so over the whole libber trope, although it must still be popular with a lot of female readers because authors keep using it. Whatever... that was boring to me and seemed whiney from a shapeshifter. Also, there was some repetitive stuff in the internal musings that should have been edited out. Little to no typos, so kudos there.
I kind of felt like this was a 'place filler' book, where we just get the last brother taken care of, then we can move forward to the next big part of the story. We don't know yet if it will be back to the Lord's series, with the Redstones, or with the fae Knights. Doesn't matter, I'm buying it.
There is something really big that happens at the end of the book, so I am anticipating that this saga may get really good again (hopefully in a short amount of time).
Morgan was a panther who grew up within a vampire family.
Matt was tasked to head up the new development in California. It was to be in an area of the Master vampire in the area. Matt was friends with many vampires including the master vampire. He was the point man of this project. Being the representative of Redstone Construction was his job. Seeing the pretty lawyer, Morgan Chase again; would be a perk of this job. He was instantly attracted to her. She was hostile towards him, he smiled every time that thought came to him. Would he finally know why she acts like that? The question is, can she get past the horrors of her past to embrace a possible future with a man who seems almost too good to be true?
While I enjoyed the book a lot, I also felt a bit of a let down by it. The relationship between Matt and Morgan was great and I had no issues with that aspect of the book. My primary concern was with the continuation of the multibook arc with the Venificus.
I've noticed in the past that sometimes Bianca has a problem writing confrontations and she will sometimes have the big climactic scene happen "offstage" rather than describe it. Although it has been awhile since she did that, I'm afraid she did do it again in this book, having the main villain defeated by a secondary character out of sight of the main characters. I also felt that the defeats of the other two Venificus mages were too easy and lacked any real sense of danger to the good guys, since the only injury sustained in an onscreen battle was a small cut on Morgan's hand.
And then there was the epilogue. Really? That's how the "Big Bang" happens? I'm sorry, but that just did nothing but annoy me. I know it's supposed to be setting the stage for one or more future books but there really should have been more "oomph" to that scene. Some indication of what lies ahead - some sense of "uh-oh, they're in trouble now!"
All in all, while it was a good story, it was not the great story I've grown to expect from her in her most recent books.

This is a fantastic story about how Matt Redstone is heading up a Contruction site in Napa Calf for where's that will be working for Atticus who is a vampire. He is having problems with the county and an eco group about the Contruction. Atticus has Morgan Chase, who is a were panther, to assist Matt in getting everything approved. Matt met Morgan over a year before and was drawn to her but she didn't want to deal with him. Morgan Chase has lived with vampires most of her live so she didn't know how to act around other shifters. But she was drawn to Matt and didn't know what to do or say. He knows she is his true mate but can't push her or she will run. The story is better if you have read the Redstone clan series, because it has charactors that is is better to know the history of to understand the book. The end was unexpected though.
Once again some amazing storytelling from Bianca D'Arc in her continuing story arc from the Tales of Were/Redstone Clan series. I love how she has integrated the characters so that the series feels comprehensive and fluid. I adored Matt and Morgan together and their story was a perfect pairing of intense and sexy moments. The plot of the Venifucus continues and their mission to bring back Elspeth the destroyer remains the primary driver of their actions. Although there are new players in Matt/Morgan's story, the arc connects beautifully with the other Redstone/Were books.
There is a shocking reveal at the end of the story that had me screaming NOOOOOOOO!!!
I cannot wait to see what's in store next. It's gonna be good!
The saga continues. Elspeth is trying to get out of her prison again and has enlisted the help of three mages. Matt Redstone had met Morgan once before and wondered at that time if they could be mates. Morgan is a panther who has been raised by the bootleggers, specifically by Marc. She remembers her old clan as being horrendous to their females and doesn't trust Matt .Together they must fight the Venifucas and maybe become mates along the way. Great story as usual and well written to boot. I only found one tiny error in syntax. Recommended.
Great story, but I would expect nothing less from Bianca D'Arc. Matt and Morgan hit it off great after she came to terms about how a shifter clan really is. Her clan was bad and it took Matt to show her that. Their struggle with the dark mage trying to free Elsbeth, with the help of her bloodletter family help with bonding them as forever mates. Sweet, sexy and action packed will keep you glued to their story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I pre-ordered this book. I have read all of the Tales of the Were books several times each since I read the series just before each new book comes out. The books can be read out of order, but the full series is enjoyable. Each book has romance, a little bit of intrigue, were-creatures of various types, and a bit of luck. A wonderful combination for an enjoyable read.
Excellent what more is there to say, the Redstone clan are a wonderful set of books, a long with the brotherhoods' Bianca has worked them in to each other so well you just can not get enough of them. So Bianca when do we get more??? you can't leave us like this so please let us know when we can expect more
I have loved Matt's character from the first time I read about him. He deserves "the one" for him. Of course nothing is ever that easy. Read this love story in all its scary, insightful, lust-filled, caring, thoughtful ways. I love how Ms. D'Arc puts you in a scene and you can picture yourself there. I even wrinkled up my nose at the smells.
I was looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint, I enjoyed the way Bianca crafts her characters and I'm looking forward to reading more and seeing Elspeth getting her just desserts. I continue to enjoy all of the characters that are intertwined, in the books.
We waited a long time for Matt's story.I have been with this series from the beginning. So I was glad to see his story.Liked the way we got to visit the Brotherhood I enjoyed their stories of finding their One.I was surprised to see the lawyer was Matt's One.Looking forward to the next in this series.Mimi
This was a great book. I really enjoyed the building relationship between Matt and Morgan and the fact they had some time to grow their relationship together. But that ending. What a way to keep me in suspense. I'm kind of wondering what happens next?!?!
the youngest Redstone brother finds his mate and they battle evil mages trying to trigger the San Andreas and free the evil fey, Ellsworth known as the destroyer. she is secretly freed despite her mages defeat. Re-read inmarch, 2017. Still a great series.
The Redstone brothers are a ferocious clan that have been very good at keeping the peace. This is one of my favorite series. These books are loaded with fighting sexy shifters, Vampires and women that will not that their carp. These are must read books.
I really enjoy this series with all supernaturals working together I always have a job putting the books down and am very much looking forward to the rest of the series
Action adventure Love sex and old friends and a surprise ending. If you been a part of the battle against the Venefuccus or just from reading about the Redstone brothers. You definitely want to read this book to the very end.
