A fun rhyming story describes shapes that readers can find in the world around, introducing young children to basic geometric shape concepts with friendly die-cut illustrations. Original.
A book that teaches students about the different shapes they can see. Using illustrations involving the shapes teaches students about them!
I would use the book to help students learn to read. It has very easy language and simple sentences. Students can use this to learn new vocabulary they might not be familiar with. I could also use this book to read to learn purely for the content. It's about shapes, so reading this will help them learn the shapes as they read it!
Future Educators! An activity you can do with the book itself is to follow the pages where it asks the students to find the shapes on the pages. You could also have them find shapes in the classroom that they can see.
the rhyming is a little too on-the-nose for me, so we mostly just talked about the shapes and the colors and the pictures. It was really great for that. It's a pretty small book so it was good for the smallish group I had today. But the pictures are bright, and lots of white space, so it would probably work well for a regular-sized group, as well.
I am giving this 5 stars because my toddler absolutely loves this book. It may even be her all-time favorite. Each page features images created mostly from one shape, teaching six shapes in all. It also teaches a little about patterns and makes the point that we can see shapes in everything around us.
