Ian Coghlan knows he's nothing but disaster for a woman like Peyton. His place in the Wild Hunt and killer instincts have held him back from acting on a five-year attraction. I recieved a ARC in exchange for a honest review

Wow what a different intriging read, i really enjoyed this book and was a great start for this series. I look forward to more, getting more glimpses into this world and learning more . Also excited to learn more about the other characters.

There is a sizzling simmering attraction that has been building for awhile, some action scenes, steamy sex scenes and interesting piercings, secrets revealed.

Jennifer is a new author to me and after reading Peyton's Ride I'm glad that I found her! The story started slowly for me, but once things started happening in the shop I was drawn in! This is the perfect first book for a series as it introduced the other figures that might be coming up...and what awesome characters they were!

As a fan of paranormal romance, I can easily say that this novella did not disappoint, and left me wanting more of The Hunt as a result. The action does take some time to build for a story of its length, but I was never bored and kept turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.

Peyton Reynolds is a sassy, strong, fun female lead and I sincerely enjoyed her inner dialogue throughout the piece. She’s been let down in life, and has sacrificed a lot to help take care of her mother during the last years of her life. Peyton makes a hard choice by sending her mother to a nursing home, but only because she cannot care for her any longer. She’s an everyday type of woman. She’s curvy, unsure of herself, and overall I found her to be a character that I could identify with. The only release she has is riding her new bike, oh, and stealing glances at the hot mechanic at the dealership where she purchased her bike.

Which brings us to Ian Coghlan, said sexy mechanic, but when we’re first introduced to him I wasn’t quite sure what to make of him because of Peyton’s inner dialogue. Ian was cast out of The Hunt due to his inability to find a mate, finding peace and quiet in a small town in Georgia to help calm his magic. Life was good for Ian; something changes one day when Peyton comes into the garage for one last tune-up. He begins to wonder if she’s his missing mate, but he’s never picked up on the fact that she was Fae until that day. The other members of The Hunt are upon them, causing Ian to question Peyton’s linage further.

The sexual tension that builds between Peyton and Ian is absolutely wonderful, and the sex itself is scorching hot. Overall, Peyton’s Ride was a fun, mystical quick read, and a wonderful way to start off the Riding With the Hunt series. I give it five out of five stars, and eagerly await the next installment.

Witty and original!!!

Jennifer James had me laughing through this entire piece with the characters' internal monologues as much as with their actual dialogue. Peyton Reynolds starts off as this female protagonist that I wanted to like because I could relate to her -she's got family obligations which she feels she's neglected or not done her best with, she's come to accept her figure rather than being a person who thinks their body is perfect, she's had bad luck with men/relationships in the past- and then Peyton becomes this chick I just want to buy a drink!

She's hilarious!

All the through the piece she's fixated on getting away from her real life worries for a while, living it up, and trying not to notice exactly how hot the mechanic at her bike dealership is...oh but that doesn't work out so well for her.

The moment that Ian's POV is introduced really shifted the story for me into that great space where paranormal romance blows contemporary out of the water since it's hard to compete with the magic of that genre. I loved all the details about The Wild Hunt. I adored that her Fae were darker in tone than a lot of people choose to go. I especially enjoyed how everything came together at the end to simply fit from pieces into a whole work like a puzzle that's finally solved.

That's how the ending felt to me: as if the puzzle of Peyton's life had been solved.

It was sexy, sassy, and above all else, supernaturally fun times. I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to read this and I can't wait to see where The Hunt rides to next!

Peyton's Ride is an original, quick, fun and surprising read that many fans of the genre will enjoy AND crave more of!

Peyton is a 40 year old divorced woman that's currently looking to find herself and free herself from her past. Never having felt as if she truly belonged and never having been truly happy left her with many unanswered questions. Now that she has the opportunity to explore, it's just what she's going to do...

This is my second reading experience with Jennifer James and I have to say I was a happy reader each time!
I had a lot of fun with this magical sexy short and would LOVE if this story was to be continued in some way (HINT HINT!)

While reading the first chapter I wasn't sure if I was even going to finish the story. The main character Peyton is sporadic and mentions her ovaries twice, which isn't particularly sexy. I felt like I was looking into the mind of someone with ADD. However I was given a copy for an honest review by This Redhead LOVES books so I decided to stick it out.

Boy was I ever glad I did! It may have started slow but once it switches to Ian's perspective it really picks up. Jennifer James shows a great knowledge of the supernatural and dives head first into this world of Fae and sexual tension. There's action, sex, and even throws in true love. I cannot wait until the next book in the series!

4.5 out of 5 stars

I received a copy of this story for an honest review for Amber's Reading Room. Pictures used as part of this review were used for fun and do not belong to me.

From full length novels to quick novellas, everything I’ve had the opportunity to read and review of Jennifer James’s I have enjoyed and readily recommended. I’m happy to report that Peyton’s Ride is another solid addition to her writing resume. Take one sexy cougar unsure of how to put her claws into action, add one ridiculously hot pierced and tattooed mechanic who happens to be a supernatural powerhouse, mix in a mutual love of motorcycles and you get one hell of a ride.

Peyton Reynolds is not feeling on top of her game. Betrayed by her cheating bastard of a husband and left as the sole the caretaker to a mother ravaged by Alzheimer’s disease, Peyton’s few moments of joy have come on the back of her old motorcycle. With her divorce finalized and her mother now passed, Peyton’s determined to put herself first and embrace her love of the open road.

Fae Ian Coghlan was cast out of the mythical Wild Hunt for his inability to find a mate. Hiding himself in middle of nowhere Georgia, Ian passes endless days selling and fixing bikes. He has always enjoyed Peyton’s brief visits to the shop, but today her presence is different. Today that spark of interest Ian felt for Peyton ignites into a blazing inferno. When the Wild Hunt shows up at the shop, Ian knows it’s no coincidence. Could Peyton be his missing mate? And if so, can he fight off his Fae brothers long enough to claim her?

 photo PeytonsRideCollage_zps91b33688.jpg

Peyton’s Ride was so fun and uniquely interesting that I couldn’t put it down, I burnt through the story in one quick sitting. Peyton and Ian manage to be super lovable and blush-inducing hot. Both had their own hurts but maintained their pride and sense of humor. I loved how each not so secretly checked each other out as they gradually made their mutual interest known. Once they connected, the amount of heat the two generated made me worry if my Kindle was going to start steaming.

If there’s any complaint about Peyton’s Ride it’s that I need more of the Wild Hunt… like right now. Fae mythology has always been interesting to me and James really sparked my interest with Peyton’s Ride. If she revisits Peyton and Ian or expands on the other members of the Wild Hunt I will be on it in a heartbeat. So much sexy, fun potential.

While I keep my fingers crossed, check out Peyton’s Ride.

Happy reading.

Sometimes I'm just looking for something quick and sexy and, at a glance, this one sounded pretty good. I wanted to try the author and I love paranormal elements so it was with a little eagerness that I picked this one up. Then I started reading and was thrilled with the blend of fae mythology and the build up of passion between the main characters. I loved how the story line was fleshed out as was the back story even though this is a shorter read.

Peyton, divorced and dealing with the recent passing of her mother, has decided to take some time out to think on her future from the back of her bike on a road trip. Before that can happen, she's having her bike serviced by the delectable motorcycle mechanic who has starred in several of her more lust-filled fantasies. He's younger and has had any woman he wanted so she knows he would never be interested in a cougar like her, but a gal can dream, right?

Ian spotted Peyton the first time she entered the motorcycle dealership and was pleased to see her sneaking as many looks at him as he was at her. For the first time, he was interested in something more than a quick encounter. Unfortunately, that was all he could ever have with a human. On this night though, things begin to happen to make him wonder. Fae magic awakens and the Wild Hunt has returned. Maybe Peyton isn't as human as she seems?

So I got a much better experience than I was expecting. And that is all explained by the presence of a delicious hot tattooed and pierced flirtatious fae biker who rang my bell right along with Peyton's. The heat between Peyton and Ian was off the charts and it was fun being along with them as things progressed to the hot and magical culmination of their night. I liked both Peyton and Ian at least what I learned of them in the time I had. I was intrigued by the other members of The Wild Hunt. The pace was fast, but steady and, though rapid, it still laid the ground work as it went so there was a story to read with tension and conflict and resolve. It had an ending, but still had an open-ended feel to it that promised there is more which is fine because this is a series.

In the end, I score this one a clear win for giving me what I wanted and then some. I liked the author's writing and will definitely be going back for more of her stuff including this series when it continues. Those who want a quick, hot paranormal read with a decent story line should give this one a try.

I don't think I've ever read a book quite like this one before. Peyton's Ride is heavy on the fantasy element but at the same time, I was able to follow along pretty easily.

At just 65 pages, Peyton's Ride isn't very long but it does pack a lot into a short amount of time. It feels more like a full novel. With its brief but thorough character descriptions and backgrounds, author Jennifer James gives readers who aren't familiar with her work a chance to get acquainted with the characters before she begins their journey.

I loved that Peyton wasn't a boring heroine. She's an older woman, a divorcee and she is taking a step outside of her comfort zone with her plans of a cross country motorcycle ride. The fact that she isn't as sure of herself as a mature woman made her likable to me. I'd like to think it would be okay if, like Peyton, I didn't have all the answers to my life at 40. Peyton's a bit of a klutz and has a slight case of verbal diarrhea at the worst times but that just added to her charm. Way to go Ms. James for making Peyton feel like a friend instead of a dull mother figure.

Ian is one of my favorite bad boys, simply because he is a bad boy. He's not faking it and he's not hiding it, he is what he is. I loved his raw masculinity and blunt way of expressing himself. He just oozes sexuality and I could see from the very first scene why Peyton was so hung up on him. I would be too if someone like Ian existed in my life.

Peyton's Ride has such a heavy fantasy element that I should have been turned off by it completely but with such witty dialogue and easy to follow story line, I found myself enjoying Peyton's adventure immensely.

Final Verdict: I was caught off guard by how much I really enjoyed reading Peyton's Ride. It was different but didn't feel foreign to me. The characters were fun, entertaining and extremely sexy. This was a great start to a series.

Well; how intriguing does THAT synopsis sound?! Not to mention the cover is def an eye catcher! This isn’t the first novel I have read by Jennifer James and I must say she has not failed me! Jennifer’s books captivate you from beginning to end, and if you are like me, you devour them in one sitting! Peyton’s Ride is no exception!

Peyton wants to get away. From EVERYTHING. The town, the gossip, the people and the memory of failure that just won’t seem to leave her alone. She’s decided that a month long journey on her motorcycle is just the thing she needs. Who wouldn’t love that?! The wind in your hair, nothing but the open road in front of you – Sign Me Up! Yet, she can’t leave until she gets her biked looked at & in order to do that, she has to take it to non other than Ian – the hot, sexy mechanic in town.

Ian is something much deeper than what you see on the outside. He’s a Fae – who wants nothing more than to meet his mate. He’s been harboring this attraction to Peyton for 5 years.. FIVE FREAKING YEARS! It seems like everything goes wrong at the same time with him! Right there – grinning like a fool at Peyton – his biker gang The Wild Hunt arrives.. and wouldn’t you know it – the pixies choose right then to make a fool of Peyton. The chances of him acting on his attraction and making Peyton part of his world are looking more slim by the second.

I haven’t read too many Fae books, but from what I have, this was an excellent rendition of one. Nothing like I have read before and we all know how I love my unique books! Peyton and Ian’s story is one that should be read and shared by anyone who loves Romance with a little Fae and Pixie on the side!

Peyton’s ready to feel the wind in her hair, put miles between her and what’s been her home for the past few years, and enjoy a freedom she’s been dreaming of. That can’t happen until Ian, the to-die-for mechanic at the dealership, is done tinkering with her motorcycle. She’s getting impatient and he…he’s looking better and better the longer she stands there.

Ian’s not all he appears to be. Under the tattoos and piercings beats the heart of a Fae longing to be joined with his mate. A member of the Wild Hunt, he experienced his rut that should have brought his mate to him, but it didn’t. Though he hides in the middle of nowhere, the other members of the Hunt arrive…at the same moment Pixies play tricks on Peyton.

This unique look at the Fae world was intriguing and introduced an two things I’d never heard of: The Wild Hunt and phooka. I appreciated Ian’s resolve to hold onto Peyton, regardless of what would be discovered when her Fae lineage was uncovered. And Peyton’s refusal to be without Ian no matter what the Fae thought or said took incredible guts to voice.

Ms. James did a marvelous job writing about two people searching for a place to belong and finding it in each other at the most unexpected time.

Favorite scene:

“You’re mine.” The runes on the tent fabric flared up at this proclamation, and died down again.

She grabbed for his hand and kissed his finger tips. “You’re mine right back.”

The runes exploded, so bright she figured they were visible from space.

I don't think that there's anything Jennifer has written that I didn't like. This one, though is a bit special to me because of the whole Fae and Wild Hunt aspect of it. I'm like Peyton, and have loved reading about all of the Fae and the Wild Hunt since I was a kid. Hot damn, Ian was freaking hot, even before I knew he was Fae - throw that on top and it's just more for me to love! I loved how this turned out, but I can't tell you what happens because I'm not sure how much I could say. What I can say is that Peyton had a desire for Ian for years. She didn't know it, but Ian had returned that desire but stayed away because of what he thought could happen to Peyton. That's as much as you're going to get out of me other than you have to read this. It's funny, and Jennifer weaves her own special magic to make this story her own, while still including enough of the old tales to give it authenticity. Peyton is great, she's a strong woman, with a quick intellect and great instincts. Ian is a dream come true for her, strong, muscular, tall and he makes her feel safe. I'll read anything that Jennifer comes out with because I know I'll never be disappointed, and it's always good and sexy.

*girly sigh* Have I mentioned how much I love pierced cocks? They're...really pretty damn great and Ian? Yeah horse boy is totally rocking one. *nods* I love him already! With charming characters, a fun setting and those...intriguing piercings Peyton's Ride made for a nice bite sized Fae romp as Peyton takes her bike in to be serviced and gets a little more than she bargained for from the mechanic she's totally been lusting after.

I had a good time with Peyton's Ride. Peyton and Ian had some nice chemistry going and it was entertaining getting to know them. Fun watching their resistance crumble as Fate played with them just a bit and pushed them together during a dangerous attack too. Things do get a little steamy at the end but this isn't one I'd call erotica. Paranormal/UF feel with a romance chaser. It's a quick read but was a nice way to get lost for an hour or so with the Fae. Definitely looking forward to more from this world.

I hadn't heard of Jennifer James until I was asked by Anna over at Herding Cats & Burning Soup if I'd be interested in reading and reviewing an ARC of the book..... Really glad I said yes!!!!

Peyton's Ride was more than I expected it to be. I love paranormal reads, especially ones with Fae (and pixies)......
This is a really good story with a few twists. The down and dirty action, when it came, was hot & sexy.... but there was so much more to this book than the sex!!!

I liked Peyton - enjoyed reading about her history and how she was now viewing her life... and Ian - well, gods - sex on a stick in biker form!!!! <3

I read this book in an afternoon - glued to the sofa so I didn't have to put my eReader down!!! ;)

For a well written, interesting and fun read, grab yourself a copy of Peyton's Ride and settle down for a few hours of escape!!!

Looking forward to more in the Riding With The Hunt series from Jennifer!!!

I love watching an author grow and expand their abilities and style. I think Peytons Ride is a big success for Jennifer James. I am very impressed with how much her writing style has changed. Now to the good part. Peytons Ride, I am a paranormal lover! I love books about Fae dont get them often so this was a special treat! Peyton is looking for a new life, she wants to be free and have fun. Ian is a Pookah, and a Member of the hunt. He is currently a mechanic and working on Peytons bike when we first meet him. I love the inner dialogue Peyton has with herself. She makes me laugh, ian sounds so hot! I loved that Peyton didnt freak realizing Fae were real. She has always loved the mystical so it was an easy trasition for her to accept. I realy look forward to more of these books and seeing what comes up next. One complaint.. I wanted more, i would love to see this story longer.

Oh man! This was such a fascinating book. At its core, it 19s a very sexy book filled with man candy and sensuality. However, that 19s the tip of the iceberg. Add in the mythology, and you 19ve got an incredibly intriguing book that I couldn 19t put down. There 19s some exciting action, creative creatures, stubborn alpha males, and world building that promises SO much more in future installments. I really can 19t wait for more, especially since I 19m not familiar with 1CThe Hunt 1D and this is a fabulous introduction!

Peyton 19s Ride is a fantastic beginning to what promises to be a fun and sexy series full of danger and passion. Grab this work of awesome by an increasingly inventive author!

I love this book!
Jennifer doesn't disappoint though it starts off as more urban fantasy than paranormal romance. The urban fantasy feel sets up the characters and series well. It also kept things a bit low key so I was spellbound with anticipation when things started heating up.
I really like the fact that Peyton isn't depicted as the fashion magazine ideal of beauty. She has curves and physical imperfections. I also like that Jennifer shows how so many of us really see ourselves. Peyton has doubts about her looks as most women do and this makes her seem real and so very likeable.

I have to start by saying that I haven't read many paranormal romance books.

Having said that, I was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed this read!

I really liked Peyton. She has a sense of humor that had me laughing at her inner-dialog.

It was quite great to read about Ian, also, and to get a mental image of him.

The fantasy elements in this story were told well, being descriptive and allowing me to envision what's happening.

SLIGHT SPOILER:
Oh, and the love scene that happens... I have to admit it might be one of the best I've read. Magical ;) <3

This was my first read of Jennifer James' books, but I plan to read more of her work!

I didn't really enjoy this very much. The characters weren't really developed. The Fae world was introduced in a really choppy manner. I learned about it pretty much at the same time the heroine did. However, she had books about it from childhood, so she already knew the stories from the books and just had to accept it being real, so there wasn't much of an introduction for me. I had issues with the hero presenting as a riderless motorcycle driving down the road because he didn't have a mate, but the other guys in the group didn't seem to have mates, either. So, how does that work? And I found the heroine to foul-mouthed - very crass. Won't read any further in the series.

This was a great paranormal romance and I loved every minute, devouring it in an hour. For a short, it’s surprisingly detailed and had the feel of a full length novel. The characters and storyline were both well developed and I never felt like it was missing anything or needed more. Incredibly descriptive coupled with the writing style allowed the words to just flow, making it easy to imagine everything as the story unfolded. The main characters Peyton and Ian are perfect together, and the chemistry they have just jumps off the page. I really can’t wait to read more about The Hunt.
