Get this book and get started making your own interactive web sites. With over 120 tutorials that cover all of the basics in excruciating detail, by the time you're done you'll have a rock solid foundation in PHP. Considering how PHP has a massive and rather disjointed library of functions, believe me, too much detail is still not enough.
