The authors have combed the country to find reliable, unique, and sometimes never-before-revealed self-care secrets practiced by physicians and health-care professionals. The result is a one-of-a-kind volume of sure cures and treatments for common conditions--from angina to ulcers, from sore feet to forgetfulness.
Every house should have this book. It will probably save hundreds of dollars on medical care. Just as the title describes, it's full of home remedies. Got acid reflux? Raise the head of your bed on cinder blocks. Got a chest cold? Standing over a sink of hot water with a towel over your head is more effective than an expectorant. More importantly, it tells you when you actually DO need to see a doctor. Check out this book you will not regret it!
"The Doctors Book of Home Remedies: Simple Doctor-Approved Self-Care Solutions for 146 of the Most Common Health Conditions" helps me manage minor medical issues saving the travel to and cost of a doctor's appointment. When I lived in remote Alaska for twenty years, accessing medical information on hand was especially important because we had no doctor in town, and online access was limited.
Sometimes we forget the common sense advice our mothers gave us over the years. "The Doctor's Book of Home Remedies" includes simple advice on various medical topics. Students in my high school health classes wrote short reports on minor illnesses and treatment options using this book as a primary resource. Okay, that was before the internet was readily available; however, flipping through these pages out of curiosity helped me learn about different medical issues.
Here are two examples of how this book helped me. As a young mother and teacher, I suffered from insomnia. I discovered that caffeine was in the pain medicine I had taken before bedtime. I learned tips and tricks to encourage more sleep. I also treated my teenage boys' foot odor.
I included "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies" on the Book of the Month for my multiple sclerosis blog because it has been beneficial to have on my shelf over the years.
Even though the book is smaller than I expected, it is chalked full of great information and remedies for almost everything you can think of. It can be used to prepare and not to go to the doctor every time you have a stomach ache, toothache, bloody nose, etc. It explains in detail the usual root of every problem and many, many solutions on how to remedy. I recommend this book for every household. It is a great reference, extremely informative, and well written by a full array of professionals in the medical field.
Contents are great home remedies for all kinds of problems that do work at a fraction of the cost to running to the doctor, clinic, or emergency room. This first line of defense can save you a lot of time and money. Plus many of these items most folks have on hand at home or purchase cheaply. I highly recommend this book.

A general but good resource great for home use and reference. Extensive listing of ailments along with readily available reliefs and how they aid in healing. Useful advice also on when it might be time to see a doctor as well. I got this as an ebook but hope to get a hard copy in future.
Published in 1990, this book is a little outdated in some areas, but solid in others. Well cited sources and published by the well-known and trusted Rodele.
This is a go to in my house! The information given is plainly written. You are virtually guaranteed to find a remedy for whatever ails you. Highly recommend.
This book has come in handy on numerous occasions! Simple, easy, and natural things you can do at home to feel better when you're too stuborn/lazy to go to walgreens or the doctor. It's organized alphabetically by ailment (headaches, sore feet, cold/flu, etc).
A great book for your questions about health problems. It is easier to read and understand. It provides simple tips and tricks, without overwhelming the readers about medicinal names and terminologies.
This reference is a great book to have around the home, it explains methods which can be employed when professional help for whatever reason is not available.
