About the author

Marcelo Birmajer was born the 29th of November of 1966 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His pearents were jews that emigrated to this country from Europe. At the age of twenty years old he started working as a writer for "Fierro" magazine (argentinian comic magazine). After that he also worked for several newspapers as a writter and he also wrote some movie scripts.
Marcelo's first contact whit book writing was caused by Pablo De Santis, a fellow writter he met in Fierro magazine. He was organizing some book collection, and he asked Marcelo to write some short novels. That's when he wrote "Un crimen secundario", "Un veneno saludable" and "Derrotado por un muerto"
His works go from comic book stories to short tales, novels and essays. He's the co-author of the movie script "El abrazo partido" (Daniel Burman, 2001), winner of a variety of prizes. He also took part in the creating of "Sol de Noche" script.
He has won the Konex 2004 award as one of the five best writers of the decade (1994-2003) in the young adult field. In 2011 he won this award again, as one of the five best movie script writters of the decade (2001-2011).
He lives in Buenos Aires city, with his wife Debora and his three kids.

This book was so throughoutly horrible that I have no words. It's not that Birmajer does not know how to write, I enjoy his delightful irony.

It's just that all the experiences of marriage and sexuality he seems to describe are adulterous people always with the same ogling narrator, always with the same ridiculous appeal to his Jewish background which he uses in order to blaspheme. Cause I totally respect and get that someone is a Jew, but the way it's played in this book "G-d bless Hebrew women" [insert objectifying description]. And even though most of tales have potential outside of that, he prefers not to use it. Seriously, this is like a subpar book of erotica (thankfully, not quite as explicit).

Forgettable.

Punt rohkem ja vähem huvitavaid ja intrigeerivaid lugusid, mis tekitavad küsimusi, eelkõige autori kohta. Kas minajutustaja väljendab autori mõtteid ja kogemust või kui palju sellest on välja mõeldud? Ehk siis kas autor on Argentiina juut, ajakirjanik, valmis ja otsimas võimalusi magama suure osa naistega, keda ta igapäevaelus kohtab? Lood erinesid, aga need kolm asja kordusid ja selle viimase kohta ma nüüd ei saagi aru, kas tegemist on mingi rahvusliku joonega, ühe inimese kiiksuga või absoluutselt kõigi meeste eripäraga, millest lihtsalt ei räägita. Aga isegi kui mingi teema tundub ülemäärane või ebamugav, olid lood selle võrra ebatavalisemad ja tekitasid omajagu mõtteid. Mis ongi ju raamatute eesmärk. Aga küsimused jäävad.

Libro que salió en la temática de los papelitos, cuentos cortos que se leen demasiado rápido.

Una antología de historias donde nuestros protagonistas están casados, donde no quieren estar ya con sus respectivas cónyuges, donde una mentira que ellos ponen como piadosa puede desencadenar una ruptura, un siniestro o que se destape una verdad íntima que puede destruir el matrimonio.

Es todo lo que les puedo decir de este libro, si quieren saber más tendrán que leerlo, pero no tiene casi nada de especial, algunas de ellas si son rescatables porque si ahondan en la problemática y son interesantes.

Cuentos entretenidos con mucho sabor local ya que transcurren en mi ciudad y con una impronta bien argentina. No conocía al autor y es mi primer acercamiento a su prosa la que me resultó un tanto básica para usar un calificativo amable. No es malo, pero es poco enriquecedor. Igualmente probaré más títulos del autor. Vale la pena.

Raamatus on kokku 17 lugu ja juba peale 2. lugu oli soov raamat pooleli jätta. Mitte, et autor kirjutada ei oska, aga ilmselt on kultuuriruumid nii erinevad. Kõige enam häiris hoiak naistesse, mis oli suisa tülgastav, ja naisena oli alandav mõelda, et kellegi jaoks kusagil Argentinas ongi selline suhtumine normaalsus.

Väga ootamatud lood, madal hinnang on tingitud raamatu ebaühtlusrest. Osa lugusid olid väga head ja teised mitte nii väga. Aga igatahes rikastas mu elu see raamat kindlasti
