Obscurity

Rate this book
In 2011, I participated in an A - Z blogging challenge. The challenge consisted of writing a blog posting incorporating each letter of the alphabet for the month of April every day except Sundays. As if writing a daily blog posting wasn't challenging enough, I opted to create essays revolving around obscure words. Needless to say, I found some interesting words to write about. This book is a compilation of the blog postings from this challenge.

Raven Williams describes herself as a beautiful mess disguised as a human being. Within this beautiful mess words swirl around until they coalesce into fictional, fantasy stories or poetry for the world to read. In February, she released the first book in her Realm Jumper fantasy series and has several more planned.

When Raven is not writing, she is creating art in the form of fractal designs and abstract paintings. She is also a caregiver for a disabled family member and three cats. She currently resides in the Northwest Florida Panhandle, but the Pacific Northwest is the home of her heart. She hopes to return there one day.

Very interesting!

Words are such fascinating things. They carry enormous power, have the ability to make or break relationships, and are intrinsic to our need for meaning and communication. As one who enjoys exploring and experimenting with words and language, I found this book to be a pleasant surprise.

‘Obscurity’ is a collection of reflections on obscure words that are little used, but which still carry some relevance and application in life today. Each piece is thoughtful and interesting, yet written with a relaxed and conversational tone that sets the reader at ease and leads their thoughts on a gentle stroll through some of the quieter corners of the garden that is the English language.
