I would give this collection of 3 books about 10 stars. There was a lot of similarity between all three. Each had gutsy, smart, talented, outspoken ladies. Each had great action, suspense, wonderful history of the War of 1812, perfect Biblical insights, romance and very real and down to earth characters. Bravo Mary Lu Tyndall!

I would give 3.5 stars. There were some great moments in each book. I do like how her writing made me look up actual historical events to connect with her story, but there was also some cheesy parts. Still, easy to read and a sweet romance without the smut.

In Surrender the Heart, we meet Marianne Denton and Noah Brenin. Marianne and Noah have known each other since their childhood, but don't really like each other much. Even so, to please their parents, they announce their engagement. Circumstances find them captive aboard a British warship. Can they escape? Can they somehow defend their beloved country against this enemy of America? What of the unexpected growing love Marianne and Noah share? What is God's plans for them?
In Surrender the Night, we meet Rose McGuire and British Naval lieutenant Alexander (Alex) Reed. When Rose is assaulted by a British officer, Alex defends her and ends up injured. Rose cares for his injuries and hides him from her family. He is the enemy after all. Can Alex trust this lovely farm girl to keep him safe from her countrymen while he recovers from his wound? If Rose is found out to be harboring an enemy officer, she and her family could be tried for treason. What should she do? Can she trust Alex and can he trust her?
In Surrender the Dawn, we meet Cassandra Channing and privateer Luke Heaton. Left with little money to support her mother and sisters, Cassandra decides to invest with a privateer. However, since she is a woman no one will take her money. Desperate, she seeks out Luke, who is known to be a gambler, womanizer, town ruffian and drunkard, but she has no other choice. Can she trust him with her money or will he take it and gamble it away? As the only caregiver for his younger, crippled brother, this is a chance for Luke to prove he is not a failure as everyone believes, even himself. However, there are those who wish for him to fail and set a trap for him, blackmailing him to supply British ships. They plot against Cassandra as well for personal reasons. With betrayals, blackmailing and dangers of war, can Cassandra and Luke escape with their lives. What of the budding love they now share, will it too be destroyed?
In the Surrender To Destiny Trilogy we read about three American patriotic ladies who stand firm for their country against the British who have invaded their land in 1812. These ladies face many challenges, not only related to the war but personal challenges in love, financial, trust and faith and more. Like MaryLu's other books, this trilogy is filled with adventure, drama and action along with unlikely romances between the main characters. Weaving the love of God for each of them and His redemption throughout the stories and their return to their faith, trusting God to work out each detail of their lives no matter the outcome. I always enjoy reading about our history and how we, as a young nation, fought for our freedoms despite the overwhelming obstacles. Great stories all.

This large book is actually three books in one. Each book is a story about one of three friends and takes place during the War of 1812. I loved learning more about the events in Baltimore and Fort McHenry. I especially enjoyed the part about the storm that hit Baltimore the morning that the British were planning to take over the city. It was an unusually strong storm, believed to be a hurricane. That area has only had 7 storms like it in the last 200 years.
I wish that I had learned more about this war in school because everything I know about it has been from this book and the book I had as a child about Francis Scott Key. It’s an important part of our history and I feel it is under appreciated.

Love it wonderful ending

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. This book has 3 stories in it centering around 3 friends and their adventures/misadventures during the War of 1812. Always a fun way to learn history.
