Bliss #3

Blissful Surrender

Rate this book
Book three in the USA Today bestselling Bliss series (first published as Blissful Surrender)

This is a story of Sean Miller, a Dom that will have your panties diving for cover with a simple brow quirk. A man that will have even the strongest women dropping to their knees in submission with a piercing stare. Then there’s Samantha Richards, a tough female cop who’s seemingly impenetrable shell is strong enough to resist everyone except the one man it was built up to protect her against – that being Sean Miller.

**Disclaimer – If you thought the first two Bliss books were hot, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Creative use of handcuffs, batons, a club scene you have to read to believe, and a tough as nails dominant blindsided when the one woman strong enough to disarm him threatens his resolve to not let his past dictate his future.**

THREE SECOND CHANCE STARS.

"Sean fucking Miller. Love of my life, regret of the century. The superstar of my fantasies."

description

I love it when an author surprises me and provides something different outside their normal writing genre and that's exactly what B J Harvey has done here. Previously this author gained my attention with her romantic comedy story-telling, providing the perfect easy reading themes complete with lovingly predictable characters. 'Blissful surrender' the third and likeable book in this series invites the reader to meet the ice queen heroine and dominant dirty talker Sean Miller and I certainly had fun watching these two go to war with a love that was begging to have a second chance.

What's it all about?
Dedicated police officer Samantha Richards is known as a ball buster and ice queen the only interest she has is dedicating herself to her job and guarding herself from those around her. Ten years ago she lost the only man who could keep her interest and captured her heart, she left a life she loved behind and has since resisted anyone getting beneath her shell. Sean Miller likes control in and out of the bedroom his life is successful in most ways but he has always regretted letting Samantha Richards walk out of his life, so when their lives cross again this time he will do what it takes to make sure she is his. Blissful surrender is the journey of this second chance at love and the story of the dominating hero winning over the ice queen to submit to his love.

description

What did I like?
B J Harvey has a solid writing style, her books are always well edited, thought out and likeable. As I have mentioned previously this series grabbed my attention from the start and I will always be interested in this authors future releases. As for 'Blissful Surrender' whilst it didn't gain as many stars as the previous books in the series it was still read-worthy and most certainly likeable. A second chance at love story always pulls at my heart strings and I enjoyed the past and present day perspective throughout the book as I felt it gave me a better understanding of the characters decisions and actions. Other positives that grabbed my attention included the delicious sex scenes, the sweet romance, the friendships, the low drama, the beautiful ending and most of all the hero, Sean miller although he hasn't done enough to be my favourite hero of this series he certainly did enough in this book to make me smile. Overall this book is likeable but It needed that something more to make it standout and grab those five stars from me.

description

Why not five?
In the past B J Harvey has provided characters that I have fallen in love with and cherished. 'Blissful surrender' somehow missed the mark just a little with my ability to connect and fall for the characters in this book. I also missed the humour and laid back style that I have come to associate with this author, and that disappointed me somewhat. The book was undoubtably differing in style for this author which I applaud B J Harvey for, but those looking for a book with a typical dominant/submissive story line will find this light hearted in that respect. Overall I liked this book, it has a strong beginning and a gorgeous ending and epilogue but somewhere in the middle it lost it's full out shine for my reading tastes.

description

Final thoughts ...
B J Harvey is an author that I would recommend to all romance readers. Her stories are sexy and sweet and she always delivers her characters their perfect ending. If you have not heard about this set of books then I would suggest looking up book one and two in this series, each of the books can be read as a standalone and if you love a dominating hero and a second chance at love romance with plenty of grab your hand cuff action then I'm sure you'll enjoy your time spent with Mr Sean Miller ... Go grab it readers. Enjoy, kisses.

10 years is a long wait for blissful...but so worth it.

Here's the story of a lovely lady...well more like ice lady, but who's going to quibble about the little details. The ice lady is Sam, a police officer whose nickname was applied by colleagues because of her tough and icy attitude at work. Unfortunately, she's not just icy at work. No man has been able to break through the ice that has been enclosing her heart for the last ten years.

Here's the story of a man named Sean...and what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man, yes he is (sing it, I know you want to). This mighty good man has had some hard knocks in his time. Sean lost his parents at a young age and then his grandparents when he was almost finished with his law studies. His younger brother Ryan, struggled with those losses too and expected Sean to pick up the pieces every time he goes off the rails. Sean's patience and understanding of Ryan's actions can only go so far.

This is a second chance at love for Sam and Sean. One of Ryan's derailing brings the couple face to face again after ten years. When they were younger and in love, Sam took some bad advice and ended their relationship. Neither were able to move on properly and had sex only relationships for the years they are apart. At first they must overcome the issues that caused their break up, then adjust their expectations as they both have changed.

I really enjoyed this hot and steamy read. There are some dominant and submissive scenes but they are pretty tame with some spankings and bondage. Definitely not a hardcore BDSM story.

Once their relationship had been reestablished most of the angst is external. There are some scenes where we have a glimpse at the past and see their connection and where things went wrong. We get to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones as well. There is a funny scene where Sam and Sean hold a dinner party and Sean realises that Sam's work partner and friend Zanders, is someone he knows because of a mutual "friend" they shared...not at the same time, as vehemently stated by both men. This mutual "friend" is the heroine Mack, from the first story in this series. Neither men ended up with Mack so their girlfriends took great pleasure in their discomfort.

Blissful Surrender was a great read. At times I didn't understand Sam's devotion to her work over everything else and I was baffled that neither had searched each other out in the ten years they were apart. I still enjoyed this author's work regardless of those issues. I will definitely be reading more in this series.

4.5 Second Chances & Spanking Stars!

Screenshot_21

Before I get to Sean, let's cover Samantha (Sam/Sammy) because I might just forget all about her once I my brain starts to focus on Sean... See what I mean, still stuck on Sean over here....

Sammy thought she knew what she wanted, in fact she had what she wanted, until she didn't. Making a choice ten years ago that that she was coerced into making, she still hasn't fully moved on. Her focus is her career. A proud member of the Chicago PD where her partner is none other than our favorite male stripper, Zander. Sam is fine with her life being focused on her job, she takes pride in it and it's the one area of her life that she's never allowed anyone to interfere. But when a call over the radio draws her to Throb, her past is crashing into her present and with a man like Sean; somethings just can't be avoided.

Screenshot_51

Sean, former bed-buddy of Mac - attorney by day and sex club owner by night. Sean is dominant, he knows this and embraces it. But Sean is also aware that meaningless one night stands aren't going to give him his happily ever after. If his past taught him one thing, it's that when you find someone you can love forever - you don't ever let go of that. Sean had that once and ten years later he hasn't been able to love anyone like he did her. When his brother get's into a sticky situation, Sean's past returns and now that he's laid eyes on her again - he knows what he wants and he's not about to let her go...again.

Screenshot_56

When I started the Bliss Series one man stood out for me. Sean. There was just something about him that drew me to him from the start... maybe it was because we got so little from him compared to the others, that he was just a tad bit more mysterious. Who knows, all I know is that I was craving his book. A common theme when the hero is a dominant is that he is often too hard or just hard on the outside and completely broken on the inside. Sean had his share of painful moments from his past - but he was not broken, nor was he so hard that he wasn't willing to know what his heart wanted. I loved the change up of a story with a man that was so willing to fall in love, that he realized his life needed more than just a warm body and sexual release.

The theme of a second chance romance is always one that I enjoy. Sammy was so lost as to who she was in her youth that poor choices were made. She knew this, but it was slightly bothersome that even knowing that - she was still stubborn. I wanted to shake her and get her to wake up, eventually she does. And once she does, it's on. The tension finally exploded and there was no going back.

Screenshot_20

BJ Harvey did a fantastic job in giving us Sean's story and making it so much more than just a hero with a kinky side. One of the things I absolutely love about her writing is that it is consistent. The stories aren't shifted for the sake of pure shock value. A pure romance read with a touch of drama and humor laced throughout and heat. Blissful Surrender certainly turned up the heat, Sean had no problem seducing Sammy with his words just as he did with his body. I loved the chemistry between these two and how heated the read got at times. But the one thing that I absolutely loved is that the focus of this story was the two of them, not her issues/insecurities and not his fetishes, they were part of the story, but they weren't the story.

Screenshot_55

The Bliss Series continues with Noah's story in Finding Bliss with a tentative release date of June 2014. Noah, admittedly is the one that I've felt the least intrigued by... but I am looking forward to seeing how BJ Harvey tell his story. I have no doubt that she'll sway me and I am looking forward to it.

Blissful Surrender was an easy, enjoyable second chance romance with some steamy dirty talk and lots of heart. This is the third book in the Bliss series, about Sean, one of Mac’s three men from Temporary Bliss, and Sam, Zander’s police partner in True Bliss. This book could definitely be read as a stand-alone.

Sean and Sam seemed to be made for each other. They had a year long romance in college that appeared to be it for both of them, but then ended abruptly. Fast forward ten years later… Sean is a successful and very powerful lawyer and entrepreneur and Sam is a police officer in the Chicago PD. When Sam and her partner Zander get called to a crime scene at the club Sean owns, Sam comes face to face with Sean’s troubled, younger brother, Ryan.
Ryan fucking Miller.
The younger brother of the one man I’d ever let close enough to shatter me.
At this moment, I hate and love his brother all over again.
Sean Miller.
The biggest sacrifice of my life.
The one I let go.

Wanting to help get Ryan back on his feet, she ends up talking to Sean again. The minute they meet again, you can tell they have so much unresolved between them. Sean being his dominating self is forward and unwavering, but Sam is ashamed of her actions from the past.
"Don’t tarnish this with regret or apologies, Sam. If you’re sure about this,” I take a step back and hold out my hand toward her, “then take a chance on me, on us. I want to show you how good we can be. I want to have a chance to prove to you that we’re good together.”

There is some push and pull while Sean and Sam dance around the very obvious connection they still have. I really liked the build up between them, the balance between Sam being fierce and independent versus Sean wanting to be in control of the situation. I loved that Sean was upfront with his actions, even if he did come off as an ass sometimes. He was honest and wanted to get to the root of their past issues so he could get his girl back once and for all.
This time, it’s for keeps. This time, I’m not letting anything come between us...

Having read both previous books in this series, I have to say this one has a totally different feel. Sean and Sam are much more serious main characters. There are still some good laughs, but it’s not quite as lighthearted as the past books. Also, Sean is a Dom, but I liked how it was done in this book. He’s not over the top with it and it’s not something that is a deal breaker for him. He likes control in the bedroom, likes a little kink, and is a dirty talker, that’s pretty much that.

This was a quick, easy read that was light on the drama. We get to know the characters through flashbacks of their relationship in college and in dual POV. I liked that there was some back and forth between them because they are both stubborn people, but that it was never stupid drama for the sake of drama once they met up again. I wish I had connected with the story and characters a little more and earlier on, but I did enjoy the story. It's finished off with a GORGEOUS epilogue and I'm looking forward to Noah's story in the next book!

3.5-4 stars.

Holy Hotness Batman...

Sean steams this book up!!

We met and loved Sean in Book 1 Temporary Bliss, he was one of Mac's 3 men.

We also met Sammy in Book 2 True Bliss she's Zander's partner and trainer in the police force.

The great thing about these books as although the characters are all intertwined they can totally be read as a standalone. (I do recommend that you read the others though!)

Ok so Basic rundown?

Sean and Sammy were made for each other. Then Sam listened to shit she shouldn't and let him get away.
Jump to 10 years later.

Sean's brother Ryan is in trouble.
The kind of trouble that has the police around...
So yep the kind of trouble that brings Police Officer Sammy to Sean's door again.

He's not letting her go this time though.

I do need to state something here, Sean is a dom. But compared to what I have read he is... hmm .. soft core Dom? he's bossy and confident and needs to be in control and knows what he wants. He is not FSoG or BDSM or anything like that, so if you are reading this book for "those" moments. You won't get them.

You will get very hot, steamy sex scenes. A beautiful relationship and above all a trusting relationship.

All wrapped up in a unicorns, cupcakes and rainbows HEA! MY FAV'S!
Looking forward to the next! Well done B.J. Harvey

Genre: New Adult Second Chance Romance
Cover: 6/10
Writing: 7/10
Heroine: 6/10
Hero: 4/10
Hotness: 4/10
Romance: 6/10
Extra book Details: Approx 192 kindle pages. Dual POV. 3rd in the series, can be read as a stand-alone.

Not my favourite book in the series.

Despite the hero and heroine being in their early 30's, the book had a New Adult vibe going on.

I was a little bothered by the second chance romance storyline. I'm not a fan of those. My problem with them is that either they do the 'Past' & 'Present' chapters, giving me a whiplash, or the characters reminisce about the past in the present, making for a lot of inner-monologue and dwelling. 'Blissful Surrender' did a bit of both.

The second thing I didn't like was the hero. He felt totally and utterly bog standard. He's a average rich, successful, know-it-all, Dominant who owns a kink club. Talks kind of posh, wears cuff-links, only sleeps with NSA subs, owns a condo and orders food for you. He bored me.

Third thing, was the heroine. I liked her........... on her own. She was fun, feisty, had a good sexual appetite, she was the 'Ice Queen', a policewoman. When she was around the hero, she was an 'easily read' quivering mess under his glare.

What kept it going was the little mystery it had going on. I enjoyed the little funnies. Liked the writing. The rest was a flop.

Sam and Sean once shared an unforgetable romance in collage. When they meet again, Sean wants to get to the bottom of why Sam ran from him all those years ago.

This book was a bit more serious than the previous two. Sean is still bitter over the past and quite an arrogant ass. I liked Sam she was quite feisty and quirky. BUT, I thought Sam's reason for leaving was a bit anti-climatic and I was a little disappointed for her reason.

There was some past/present which helped with the second chance romance. I would recommend to those who like good tension with a dirty talking controlling hero, a few giggles and some sexy time.

~~ 5 "Addicted to Sean Miller" Stars ~~

What can I say except that I absolutely LOVE this series. BJ Harvey has created a cast of characters and story lines that I am totally addicted to. As with the first 2 books in this series…this storyline and writing is flawless. This was also a quick read like the others, I was able to finish it in less then a day, but I am guessing that is because I couldn't put it down. I am always left with a HUGE smile on my face when I finish one of her books in this series. She really knows how to write a story that you feel like you are a part of the book. The fact that we met Sean in book 1 (Temporary Bliss) and now we got his story, you can't help falling deeper in love with this man. This book will have you laughing at times, sad at times, blushing most of the time, and definitely falling in love!!!! I can't tell you how wonderful this book was!!! I truly don't think my reviews can do this series justice, you really need to read these books!!!!!

We met Sean in book 1, like I said before, and I was so excited to find out that he would be getting his own story. (Although I have felt that way about all the characters we met in book 1) I knew Sean's story was going to be an interesting one, because of his background and the fact that he is a Dominant looking for his sub. What I didn't realize is that his story was going to be a second chance love story. I am truly a sucker for those types of stories. I love when lost loves are reunited after many years apart. That is what this story is about. Sean and Sam dated in college for over a year, but then somebody decided to but in and play on Sam's insecurities breaking them apart. (It killed me to know who the person was) Now 10 years later Sean and Sam are thrusted back into each others lives because of his troublesome brother. Sam is a Chicago Police Officer. We met he in the end of Book 2 ( True Bliss - Zander and Kate's Story ) Sean's brother gets himself into some deep trouble and the police are called and that is why Sam shows to help him out. This is how Sam and Sean reunite. From there we are now reading a cat and mouse story….there was a lot of push and pull on Sam's side, because she didn't want to admit that she still had feelings for Sean. Well let me tell you he didn't give up…not once. I really liked Sam's character. I liked that she was strong willed and was willing to stand up to anyone who challenged her views. This was a big change from her college years. I also loved that she had a softer side, vulnerable per say. Watching her and Sean reconnect and realize the love they had for each other was wonderful. Sean was an amazing character as well. Talk about a man who by nature is a Dominant, but boy did he have a sweet and caring side as well. And talk about a panty melter….WOW ;) You definitely want to meet him for yourself.

As for secondary characters…we are introduced to a couple new ones….Ryan (Sean's Brother), Helen (Sam's BFF) and Rico (Sam's Friend and Helen's Fiance) I loved each one of them. Helen and Rico were hilarious. They kept me laughing quite a bit. They were also a strong support system for Sam. Since they were with her back when her heart was broken with Sean in College. As for Ryan….I liked him as well. I kind of hope he gets a spin-off book. I think there is quite a story there. I was glad to see that he was getting his sh*t together by the end of the book. Now he just needs to find love himself.

This book is listed that it is a Standalone, and that is true, because we really didn't see anyone from the previous books, except for Zander and Kate briefly. Ms. Harvey does a fantastic job filling any missing pieces someone might have if they haven't read the first 2 books. Now my recommendation is that you read this SERIES in order. Yes you can read this book by itself, but I honestly would read all the books (In Order) You get the full effect and story behind all the characters if you read the complete series. This book/series is definitely one I will recommend to my friends and one I will read again and again :) Pick this book up….you won't be sorry!!!!!

**As a side note :: For anyone who is debating about this book because of my review stating the Dominant/submissive theme…don't fret. This is definitely on the lighter side of BDSM…if you even want to call it that. There is light bondage and some spanking but that is as far as it goes. **

Blissful Surrender (Bliss, #3) by BJ Harvey
4 stars!!

“And for the first time in a long time, I know I’ve finally done the right thing. I’m home.”

My favourite two genres are thirty somethings and second chance love and this book covers both in one instalment of delightful deliciousness. I have been a fan of BJ Harvey since the start and love finding new authors that manage to pull me into a world where the characters become real and I can submerge myself.

This is the third book in the Bliss series and covers the most intriguing of the men, Sean. Sean is a lawyer by day and sex club owner by night, he was also one of Mac’s friends with benefits. The female lead in this book Sam, Sam is a police officer and is also Zander’s partner. Yes this circle of friends is getting smaller and smaller, ever decreasing circles!!

Sam has only ever been in love once, she fell in love in college, was all set to commit herself for life, until her interfering, scorned mother gets in on the act. Somehow, this man-hating woman manages to persuade Sam that this man is no good and she should just concentrate on her career so that she can support herself, you should never have to rely on any man in her mums eyes. Sam being the ever dutiful daughter listens to her mum and does the hardest thing ever…she walks away…from the only man she has ever loved. 10 years later, fate has other plans. Will this 10 year gap be enough to realise that what she once had is too good to forego a second time? Will she finally let herself be happy?

“You’re not going to regret this.” “I know” she whispers. “Believe me, I know.”

Sean was always the enigma in this series, we were never really told much about him, but what you did know was that he was powerful, he exuded confidence and he was dominant. I was intrigued to know the man behind the façade and in this book we finally see the real Sean. I have to say I will always have a soft spot for our “Superman” but Sean comes in at a close second. Sean has had a tough life growing up, but he never let this determine his future. He only really has one regret in life and that was letting the love of his life walk away 10 years ago. He should have fought harder. Since she walked away he has never loved another, no-one could compare, he has had a lot of meaningless sex in his life since, but not once has he managed to take the next step. She was the one that got away, but she also took his heart with him. How would he react when 10 years later, destiny deals him a second chance. Will he be man enough this time to fight for the woman he had loved for years and has never stopped loving for the past ten?

“God, I missed you Sam. I missed you so fucking much.”

This is by no means a tale about a broken, kinky, dominant man getting “fixed” but this is more a story of love, second chances, forgiveness, learning to trust and learning to live again. Yes the road will always be bumpy, but BJ Harvey manages to pull you in and captivate you with their beautiful story. The chemistry between these two is seriously hot, the pages literally sizzle and you cannot help but will them on. Sam could be rather annoying at times, but Sean never gives up and keeps persevering. Sam needs this, she missed him for the past 10 years and thank god, now that she is on her own, she finally realises what she had given up all those years ago.

“Better than before,” he murmurs as he places a soft kiss against my skin. “Better than ever,” I add.

It also has to be said that once again I can see the growth in BJ’s writing with this instalment. With every single new release you can see the metamorphosis from beginner to pro and once again she managed to deliver another amazing read. Her books are always littered with her sense of humour and you will find yourself laughing out loud on many occasions. This always balances her stories well, with that blend of angst, wit and love. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the Doc. Whilst he was never one of the most intriguing characters, I know for sure that BJ Harvey will manage to develop his story into another captivating, humorous read.

I officially love the spin-off so much more than this OG series, I might just give up.

Sean is a successful lawyer during the day, nightclub owner and dom by night. His brother is his only family but Ryan has a serious gambling problem which results in Sean seeing the one that got away again.
Sam is a badass cop, the ice queen of the Chicago PD - also Zander's partner. Seeing her college sweetheart again stirs up emotions she thought she'd long buried. She was the one who broke up with Sean thanks to her bitter, uptight mother's pressure. She can say how he wanted to dominate and control her, but deep down she knows it's not really true.
It's been 10 years but the emotions and chemistry are still there and Sam is still the perfect, natural sub to Sean's dominant side.

I was really looking forward to reading Blissful Surrender which is Sean and Samantha’s story. BJ Harvey did not disappoint me. If you have read the first book in the Bliss series, Temporary Bliss, you would know that Mac had 4 friends-with-benefits. Of course, that was before Superman. Sean was one of them.
This book is slightly different to the other books in the Bliss series. I had ‘met’ most of the characters in earlier books in the series, but there were also a few new ones that made it interesting, not that the ‘old’ characters weren’t entertaining in their own right. Helen periodically cracked me up and I just loved Rico. I just wanted to hug Ryan and I hope to hear more about Sean’s brother. As usual, the characters became real people and some were old friends.
But, as I mentioned, this is Sean and Samantha’s story. I loved the fact that they had history and I especially liked the glimpses into their past together, glimpses that also had me asking questions until I found out the whole story.
Blissful Surrender was full of those moments that kept me guessing. Will they work it out or won’t they? As usual, BJ Harvey showed her expertise when writing those hot sex scenes, although it seems trivial to call them sex scenes because they also involved passion, tenderness and love. There were also times when I laughed out loud, thankfully, not in public.
I gave Blissful Surrender, 5 out of stars. Now who is next? Is it Noah, the hot doctor?

I thought from the the glimpse I saw of Sam in the book before this (sorry don't know the name) that I wouldn't like her - so I wasn't going to bother reading this. Then I thought to myself ' no Hailey don't be a judgmental Judy, read it, maybe she won't be all that bad!' Sad to say I wasn't wrong and these characters had the personality of wallpaper - bland and boring.

Sam - I wanted to slap her, kick her, then slap her some more! She was stupid, stupid, stupid! You broke up with a guy for no other reason than your mother telling you too! Your mother, now come on! You're in flipping college for corpse sakes... can't you make your own decision! And then when she finally decides to go back with the guy, Sean or whatever, she gets mad when she doesn't like something, he kisses her and then she all yes and junk! There is no other word to describe her personality other than stupid.

Sam - like I said, wall-freaking-paper! I can't comment on his character because after reading the book, I still didn't know who he was and that in itself says loads! I was more interested in his brother.

Enough said - suffice to say I won't be continuing on with this series.

Sean Miller is a man in charge. He is powerful and domineering. I would not mind a spank or two from him ;) He is another man that we have already met and from what I knew about him I thought he would be the last one to be hung up on a chick LOL

I may have been strong and confident, but you were my weak point. You were the one person that could obliterate me. And you did.

Who is it that’s doing this to him….Samantha “Sammy” Richards. The one that got away many many years ago. She is a Chicago police officer who plays by the rules and can be somewhat uptight. Her past with Sean made her what she is today. I loved watching her transformation, loosening up and admitting what she wants.

What am I? Fucking stupid or what! I had a man ready to give me the world and I walked away.”

I enjoyed joining these two and they reconnected and tried to figure out what they both wanted.

Wow, from the beginning of the Bliss series as much as I loved Daniel, Zander stole my heart. We didn't read much about Sean in the other books so wasn't really sure where my feelings lay regarding him. Well I absolutely love him now (I'm not stealing him Nikki lol) Let me just say for a Dom he is a complete and utter sweetheart and now one of my favorite Dom's!! I loved reading his background and how each of the characters blend through each other's lives in a believable way. The relationship between Sean & Sam was sizzling. It was amazing!! I know they are all stand alone novels but I would highly recommend reading them as a series and in order. Don't just add this or the others to your tbr list, devour it and enjoy the journey the Bliss men take you on.

4.5 stars

We met Sean in Temporary Bliss as he was one of three of Makenna's friends with benefits. He is the successful lawyer and club owner, dominant alpha and always in control. We met Sam in True Bliss. She is the tough as nails police officer who trained Zander and is now his new partner and friend. Their lives have connections that neither of them realize. Ten years after she walked away from him, Sam and Sean Cross paths again.

Sammy left him unexpectedly a decade ago and broke both of their hearts. They developed their careers and moved on as best they could, but were still each other's "one that got away". When their lives surprisingly converge again, their connection and chemistry is immediately re-sparked. But there are secrets, issues, and fundamental differences between them that caused their separation then and will affect their present.

He's Sean f***ing Miller. Love of my life, regret of the century. The superstar of my fantasies.

Samantha Richards, the woman who once held all the power and refused to acknowledge it. The woman who walked out of my life and rejected me with no explanation. The woman who deserted me at a time when I needed her most.

I really loved Sean. He was all about control, but Sam could bring him to his knees. He knew he had to get her back, but was terrified to be hurt again. So it was fun seeing the always in control man practically walk on eggshells at times while pushing her at others, and to see the cracks in his armor. And Sam was supposed to be the Ice Queen. She was not supposed to be so affected and vulnerable, but Sean was the only man who could make her feel weak. And she had to deal with the fact that she made mistakes, she was confused, and she needed to figure out what she really needed to be happy.

Their past was perfect, then painful, then full of regret and loss. But can they figure out their issues and come together again for good this time or are they destined to be torn apart by the same problems? Will she allow her submissive side to be seen again and let Sean dominate her or is she too into control herself?

It's a dance between dominance, submission, intense chemistry, and unresolved feelings. They are both strong, control driven, and determined, but they make each other vulnerable. They each hold the power to to destroy the other one completely. It was interesting to see these two people that put on this facade of complete control, power, and intimidation in their careers and regular lives, but when faced with each other they have a desperate need, longing, and fears and insecurities.

I enjoyed spending more time with Zander and Kate (True Bliss) and meeting her friends Helen and Rico. They provided comic relief, support, and ass kicking when needed. His younger brother Ryan was such a broken, troubled young man but I could not help liking him and feeling sorry for him. His whole situation added external drama and suspense to the story. And the interconnections between Makenna (Temporary Bliss) and her previous friends with benefits continue to have repercussions in the lives of those men she was involved with. We still have Dr. Noah's story to look forward to in Finding Bliss.Finding Bliss

I was pleasantly surprised by Sean. We thought of him as such a strong, mysterious Dom, but underneath he was such a sweetheart and his having Sammy was as much about feelings and need than it was about controlling her. They had hot chemistry and smokin' scenes, but it was more about the passion and need than it was about toys and him taking utter control and dominance over her. Their roles came naturally to this couple in their giving and receiving pleasure and it did not feel like a forced Dom/Sub situation where it was all about the toys, role play, etc. So I felt that the sex scenes were more in tune with their actual feelings, personalities, and true caring for each other than just there for erotic content. But they were definitely there and part of the story.

So this was a sweet, second chance love story that also had humor, romance, danger, steam, and drama. It was told in both points of view allowing us to see their innermost thoughts, feelings, and fears. This couple was likable and felt real. Fans of this series, will like this one as well. All of the books have a bit of a different vibe. This one was not overly angsty or full of frustrating relationship drama. It felt like more of a real journey of two people to find their way back home, come to terms with what had come before, and figure out how to move on personally and together. And it was served with a side of steam and passion.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.

Sexy? Hot? Steamy? Yes, Blissful Surrender is all that and more. Don’t believe it? I’ll explain! :)

The Bliss series is one of my favorites, because of the humor and romance. The characters are engaging and the kind of guys that we read about and take with us through life (Delicious Daniel <3). I confess that I had a different image of Sean. I thought he was gloomy and reserved, a mixture of Christian Grey with Gideon Cross. But no, BJ made him unique, exciting and completely different from the dominant characters that we usually see in other books.

Sean and Sam live a love story like the movies, but because of her feminist mother’s influence, she ends the relationship with Sean, breaking his heart and her own. They lose touch and meet again 10 years later. She is a police officer, Zander’s partner, the character of book two that I had done the review and you can check here. In a night shift, they receive a call and find a man who got beaten very badly in an attempted robbery. To her surprise, this man was Sean’s younger brother.

Of course, she ends up meeting with her ex, when she’s leaving the hospital, and all the electricity they had in the past resurfaced, leaving them completely ungrounded.

Sean decides he’ll do anything to win Sam back, taking her back to his bed and his life. And Sam, despite all the feelings she has for Sean, is ready to run for the hills to get away from the man she’s terrified will make her suffer.

Sean is a dominant inside and outside the bedroom, but at the same time a lovely man, romantic, sensitive and passionate. Sam is a strong young lady, even with the profession she chose. When these two powerful forces attracted, they manage to stay together, they will have to go through some challenges and overcome the fear of surrendering, the gambling problem Sean’s brother has and the fear and stubbornness to say what they really feel about each other.

This book is very different from the others in the series. It has a great emotional burden, a little more drama and it is impossible not suffer with the two of them until they get it right.

Besides, this is a very special book for me, because, one of Sam’s best friends, Rico, is a “Brazilian” paramedic who was specially created for, guess who ladies and gentlemen? YES!!! Me, this little person here, who’s talking to you: BJ Harvey, which I have the honor to call a friend, made this character especially to honor her two Brazilian friends (me and Dea Gerkhe, a Brazilian who lives in the USA), plus the Brazilian readers will be able to follow these wonderful series on the second half of 2014 , in “PORTUGUESE”.

This is a book that deserves to be read and reread. BJ demonstrates an incredible and amazing maturity as an author, building a story that hooks you from start to finish without falling into the cliché of the “dominator good guy”.

Let´s make this short and painless:
I thought this book was cool, totally hot, and absolutely worth having in my sacret golden bookshelf! The cover alone should receive the highest rating ( gotta love simplictity :-) )
The million Dollar question is:
What would you do if you see your ex after 10 years again?
Blissful Surrender ( #3 Bliss Series ) started out catchy and stayed that way until the bitter end. The author had the ability to make me ( as a reader ) sit in an upright position for hours and stay that way until the story was over. Her choice for using a Dom in a non-classical way made this story refreshing as ever and I totally enjoyed reading about a Hero who loved to dominate and act like a normal human being at the same time ( I so SOOOO loved Sean...* sigh* ) The author more or less shows a reader that any rules are allowed as to how dominant a Dom can be. The fact that Sean loved to dominate in the bedroom but still let Samantha /Sam ( Heroine ) stay herself and let her be foul mouthed and all, made him a 100% loveable Dom. In my opinion....every woman needs a Sean. He was respectful, he had a way with words, and he definitely knew which buttons to push when it came to women...when it came to Sam.
Sam´s character was just as loveable. She was a strong headed, independent women who made a huge mistake in her younger years. That mistake robbed her some fantastic years with the man she loved. During the 10 year period of loneliness ( okay....she had a bed-friend ), she never found what she once had.....a relationship like the one she used to have with Sean. Thank God that woman never complained or felt sorry for herself. I reall appreciated that she was straight forward and uncomplicated.
Ooooh, this story is good! I loved that there dual POV´s and I loved how easy this book was to read. The writing was also flawless which made this book even more enjoyable.
The only thing I can complain about is Sean´s brother. I wish the author had mentioned him a bit more since his character had so much to offer. He is mentioned in the book and he definitely plays a solid role in the story, but I felt that he was cut short.
Besides that.....the story was great, the sex was beyond acceptable ( naah....it was smokin´ HOT, damn it! Like....stick your head in the fridge for a few seconds HOT) ….uuugh..where was I? OH YES! And all the sub characters were fab. :-)
Even though this book belongs to a series ( which I haven´t read, yet ) Blissful Surrender can easily be read as a stand-alone.
I can´t wait to read the other books now!
Would I recommend this book?
ABSOLUTELY!
Would I re-read this book?
YES!

***4.5 SECOND CHANCE STARS!!***

BJ Harvey’s BLISS SERIES is one that I will always jump to read, regardless of the length of my TBR list and Sean Miller’s book was one I wasn’t going to miss.

BJ combines second chance romance (and in this instance) a more dominant hero in Blissful Surrender, book #3 in this awesome series. Although Sean’s book is seen to be more of a dom/sub book, if you’re looking for FSoG or BDSM, that is not what you will find. He is a dom in the lighter sense of the word. He loves control and a woman who will listen, although Sam seemed to be the one who would turn him weak at the knees.

I was SO excited to have Zander and Kate around some more. I loved them in True Bliss (#2) and it really felt like home again with the gang around.

We get to know Ryan, Sean’s brother in this book. He is such a broken man and I honestly couldn’t help but fall in love with him. I really do hope that BJ has it in her to bring us Ryan’s book. He is a character I would love to see get his HEA.

“Better than before,” he murmurs as he places a soft kiss against my skin. “Better than ever,” I add.

One of my favourite things about BJ’s books are her incredibly hot sex scenes. I was lucky enough to get a taste of a few of them as she was writing this book so I was super excited to finally read it all in context, and she did not disappoint!

With every single Bliss book, I always finish with a ridiculous smile on my face. There is nothing better than a drama filled romance book with a wonderful HEA. This book wasn’t quite the 5 stars for me like the other two, that’s only because I didn’t feel the same connection with Sean as I did with my Daniel (yes, you heard right. MY Daniel) in Temporary Bliss. But a 4.5 star read, a wonderful story that will make you swoon and fan yourself all at the same time. I loved this book and cannot wait for my Noah to take center stage!!! <3

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves humour mixed in with the drama of a wonderful love story. These should be read in order although can also be read as standalones.

“And for the first time in a long time, I know I’ve finally done the right thing. I’m home.”

You know that feeling when you start a new book and you get the warm and fuzzy feeling because you know in your heart you are going to LOVE the book? This WAS that book for me. I fell in love with Sean Miller in the books before, and I couldn't wait for him to get his happily ever after. Strong characters, sexy love scenes, emotional story line? What more could you want?! BJ Harvey is one of those authors you just know will bring their A Game! Blissful Surrender was a true love story full of compassion, emotion, and heartache. I dare you to try to walk away with dry eyes.

❝She unravels me and she doesn't even realize.❞

Sean Miller is a passionate Dom who lost his heart to a woman a long time ago. No one ever compared to her. His job as a corporate law lawyer AND the fact that he constantly is bailing his brother out of trouble, has kept him busy these past years. He never expected the woman who broke his heart long ago, to come storming back in his life.

Samantha Richards is a strong, independent woman, who in the past, have let others steer her in a direction that she thought was what was best for her at the time. Trying to leave the past in the past, and not focus on her regrets, she focuses on being the best cop she can be. When she is called in on a case, the last person she expected to waltz right back in her life, was standing right in front of her. The feelings she felt so long ago come rushing back, but something is holding her back. She knows that Sean likes to be in control in the bedroom, but can she move past the words of her mother, telling her that she should not submit to ANY MAN? Or will the intense connection these two share, push all doubt from her mind?

❝Yes. I want you. Make my body yours again, Sean.❞

❝With fucking pleasure, darling.❞

Blissful Surrender was an all around beautiful love story. Relatable issues made these characters more real in my mind. The struggle, the heartache, the beautiful love scenes, there is just nothing better. This book AND the entire Bliss Series will leave you completely satisfied. I hope this series will keep going and going, and the author will keep bringing us such great characters that are so easy to fall in love with.

I love to read second chance love stories and this hot sexy read definitely fulfills that.

Samantha was dating Sean back in college but after her meddling mother interferes she walks away from him. The love of her life. 10 years later and Sam is now with the Chicago PD and is partnered up with Zander (yep hot, sexy Zander from True Bliss).

Sean was devastated when Samantha ended things with him and has never really moved on from her. Sean is a lawyer by day and also owns a club called Throb ß how hot is that name? He has special BDSM rooms that patrons can use and Sean also partakes from time to time.

When Sean’s brother Ryan gets caught up in some illegal gambling, Samantha is reunited with Sean. That familiar spark is there but with more intensity. These two never stopped loving each other.

“She unravels me and she doesn’t even realize” - Sean

When they give in to their desires it is HOT, Sean the Dom emerges and Sam cannot resist him.

“He’s not just making love to me, he’s consuming me, owning me, and I fucking love it“- Sam

They are the love of each other’ s lifetimes and there is just no denying that but when they are faced with a dilemma concerning Ryan, Sam makes a choice that could have huge consequences on her relationship with Sean. Sean likes to be the one in control and when control is taken away from him he doesn’t handle it well. If they want to be together they are going to have to compromise or is it too late for them?

This book is about Sean, the sexy dominant man who was one of Mac's sex buddies from the first book. He has always been in love with Sammy and the story is pretty typical - they met in college, fell in love, he was super dominant, her mom warned her that she should break it off before Sean controlled her entire life. Women are often mistaken that a dominant man will want to boss them around in every aspect of their relationship. Now it has been 10 years since the break-up, both of them realizing they have never loved since & have never experienced chemistry like they did when they were together. Sammy is now a cop who we met in the second book as she was Zander's training officer. I was hoping there would be some hot cop action in this book and I was not disappointed. The only real drama involves Sean's brother Ryan who likes to live dangerously & break the law which puts Sammy is a tough position between two brothers. I really love how Sammy tries to make up for the mistakes she's made in the past, not letting anyone or anything interfere with her relationship or give her doubts. And she doesn't hold back & gives Sean everything she's got. Sean is the perfect alpha because he is very understanding, generous, loving. He turns a little bossy which is super hot when the action heats up. Nothing wrong with that! :)

We met Sean before, the loving, controlling lawyer who knows what he wants in and out of the bedroom. He's a dom, but the hardcore kind, he doesn't need no whips or chains to let his women know he is in control.
He has a passion about him that draws the ladies in. But he also does not love you. He only has eyes for one woman, and that someone he lost years ago...that is until recently...

Years ago Sam lost the love of her life due to unfortunate circumstances. You could say stupidity, you could say miscommunication, but that is not for us to decide for it is in the past. What is, is the now. Sam sees her one only again in the hospital and feeling stir that sat dormant for years and she doesn't know how to deal with them, or with him. For he, the man, is a force to recon with.

Once Sean laid his eyes on Sam again, he knew his love for her never left, and he saw it her eyes that her love for him was there as well. He had waited too many long years for this chance, and he was going to take what he had always wanted, and that was Sam. Nothing was going to get in the way of their love this time. NOTHING.

Great job BJ!

Cover Reveal!!♥

description

Blurb:

This is a story of Sean Miller, a dom that will have your panties diving for cover with an eyebrow quirk. That will have even the strongest woman dropping to their knees in submission with a piercing stare, and Samantha Richards, a female cop who’s tough, seemingly impenetrable shell is strong enough to resist everyone except the one man it was build up to protect her against.

**Disclaimer – If you thought the first two Bliss books were hot, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Creative use of handcuffs, batons, a club scene you have to read to believe, and a tough as nails dominant who is blindsided by the one woman strong enough to threaten his resolve not to let his past dictate his future.**

Like the other books in the Bliss series, this book can be read as a stand alone. There are common characters in the books but it is not necessary to read the first two books in the series to read this one.

I am a big fan of the Bliss series and had been patiently waiting to read Sean's book. I love a second chance romance storyline and this was a great one.

Sean Miller, corporate lawyer by day and 'Throb' club owner by night is a Dom. We had been introduced to Sean in the first book in the series and I was really looking forward to finding out how and why he came to be the man he is.

Samantha Richards, known as 'Ice Queen' by all her colleagues is a hard ass cop who finds it hard to let her guard down.

Sean was 'the one man she had ever let close enough to shatter her' and Sam was 'the woman who deserted him at a time when he needed her the most'.

Sparks fly when these two cross paths again after 10 years and the sexual tension is off the charts. I was intrigued as to how and if they were going to be able to overcome their past and I wasn't disappointed.

Blissful Surrender is a great story about second chances and with BJ Harvey's trademark humour featuring throughout the book this was a really fun and let's not forget, HOT read.

After reading all of BJ Harvey's other books, I was very excited to read Blissful Surrender. Sean appears first in Temporary Bliss and I just loved the mystery of him. I wanted to know more about the Dom friend of Mac's. I was not let down, in fact, BJ surpassed my expectations of what I thought Sean was like. I loved his story. He was broken by one person and just when he thought he'd never see her again, she re-entered his life with a bang.

I really liked Sammy. That is one of the things I love about BJ's characters. Her female leads are usually head strong and sassy. I love how Sam struggled with the past but fought to overcome those fears.
This book is Sexy, Sweet and Funny!

Sean is an amazing man and a great lover. Some of the things he does made my Kindle steam. I think he is my favorite of all her men. Sorry, Zander and Daniel. I really hope we get more of Ryan, I think he has more of a story to be told. I'd recommend this to everyone looking for a sexy, fun read.

Blissful Surrender is in the Bliss series although each one can be read as a standalone, so don't worry if you haven't read the first two. This is Sean and Sam's story and one I was looking forward to read. Sean is a Dom in the bedroom but also a club owner and Sam is a cop which makes for an interesting couple. They also have history!! For me the bliss stories always have a bit of everything in them and I don't want to put them down when reading. This story had me laughing out loud, wondering what was going to happen and then there's the HOT scenes, which you won't want to miss ;)
For me this book has everything and one I will reread again and again. BJ Harvey you have done it again and I can't wait to read read the next book which will be Noah's story out later in the year. <3
