The Escort Next Door

Julia has the seemingly perfect family; a successful husband and three wonderful kids. From the outside all seems well, but behind closed doors things are anything but ordinary. Julia's marriage has become distant and she finds stunning evidence about her husband’s actions on his business trips. Julia wants to escape and decides to make a decision that will change her life forever.

Sample Of What’s Inside!

I don’t recall how I went from sitting at the table to laying on the bed. I do know that my head was swimming and it wasn’t just thanks to my old friend the fermented potato.

David’s mouth was still moving leisurely over mine, occasionally sucking my lower lip between his teeth. He was lying next to me on his side, pressing the length of his body to mine, while one arm draped across me and the hand gently caressed my hip.

By that stage, I was beginning to return his kiss with an enthusiasm I didn’t have to fake. One of my hands had unconsciously smoothed up his chest and curled over his shoulder, while the other snaked around the back of his head and was pulling him that little bit closer. As I tightened my fingers, gripping a handful of his smooth, thick hair, a guttural groan reverberated from his open mouth to mine.

Fluidly, he eased his hand over the curve of my pelvis and began to confidently stroke his way down my thigh. When he reached my knee, he hooked his fingers behind my leg and pulled it upward. As his tongue slipped carefully over the roof of my mouth, he tugged my leg around his waist and placed the weight of his upper body on top of mine.

If I could give this book 0 stars, I would.

This book is so ridiculous I'm having a hard time believing it has been published at all.

The main character, Julia, is first of all bodyshaming like crazy, and then raped by her husband, but doesn't seem to acknowledge that she has been raped, as "she never said no". Let's ignore the fact that she never consented, and flat out told her husband he was hurting her, which he blatantly didn't give two shits about. Great message to send out with your book. The next day, she's more concerned with the fact that he's leaving on another business trip and that he's super distant than the fact that he's a rapist.

Julia discovers that he's been cheating on her with everything with a vagina and a pulse, and she wants to leave him, but he's really rich and she's not, so she knows he'll sue for custody and win, even though he's gone on business trips "three thirds of the time" and has been having unprotected sex all over the country, endangering hers and the kids' lives. Her friend suggests Julia takes up stripping to save enough money to leave the husband, and Julia takes all but two seconds to decide on being a hooker instead, because if she stayed with her husband to keep her kids, she would be "prostituting herself any way". Yes, women who stay with their rich husbands in order to keep their kids in their lives are no better than women who actively sell their bodies to strangers for money. That is a great view on women, alluding to all women inherently being prostitutes as long as the situation fits.

Julia's first client is, OF COURSE, young, rich, handsome, kind, gentle, great in bed and has a huge dick. He wants to give HER pleasure, he even thinks the female orgasm is beautiful. THIS ISNT REALISTIC. As a journalist who has interviewed women working in this profession, this is so far removed from reality. There are men who treat the women with respect and kindness, but most just see them as an empty vessel for their semen. It is NOT romantic and most of the time these women are scared they are going to be beaten, raped or murdered. Whether or not someone looks good is the least of their concerns. The book does acknowledge that not all clients will be as awesome as this one, Julia isn't naive after all, but then it says the dumbest thing I've ever heard; Men who buy sex respect women more than men who have one night stands and never call, because while men who pay for sex buy women's bodies like they're objects and commodities to be used purely as they wish, at least they're honest about their intentions. It's, like, way worse to never be called again than to have someone pay to use your body like you're an inanimate object with no feelings or own will. Yeah, super respectful. Fuck you, Clara James.

This isn't worthy of the label book. This is contrived, dumb, unrealistic and completely ignorant as to how the world works. The "writer" shows an attitude towards female sexuality that is downright scary. I'm horrified she's a woman. Also, as if the content wasn't bad enough, it's also ridden with grammatical errors.

This book was surprisingly good. It was not what I was expecting in the sense that the story kept me riveted and entertained. The characters were relatable and interesting. The storyline kept me wanting more and now I want to go and read more about Julia and her adventures.

I downloaded this freebie due to the positive reviews but I found it too far fetched.

Julia has been with her childhood sweetheart for 14 years. They are married with 3 young children but then Julia finds out he has been having quite a few affairs so knowing she can't leave him as she has no money she takes her friends advice and decides to become an Escort. Her first 'job' is with a lovely guy and she enjoys the sex (the sex scenes aren't that great).

I have looked at the concluding books. You can buy all 3 books in one but at £5.98 for 260 pages, I'm not prepared to pay that to find out what happens next as to be honest, this freebie didn't interest me enough to read the rest.

Once in a while, I like to take a chance on a self-published title and this one had an interesting premise. The main character finds out that her husband has been cheating and she decides to start escorting to earn money for the eventual divorce. This book is in dire need of a copy editor. Aside from the occasional grammar issues and typos littered throughout the book, you know that the book is still in the rough draft stage when, right in the middle of the action, the main character refers to her companion by a different name.

Sadly I couldn’t get behind the main character’s revelation about escorts and the men that purchase their services. The main character decides that men who purchase women for their bodies have more respect for women than casual hookups at bars, which is just dumb. First, there are plenty of women that go to bars for one-night stands and ditch men in the morning, it’s not one-sided. Second, in the world of prostitution, not every John is a nice guy. While it’s true that some women enjoy the work, and in certain places, it’s legal and well regulated, but on the other hand there are many women who are either trapped by financial issues or are victims of human trafficking.

If all you’re looking for is one good spicy bedroom scene with a touch of romance, then this book will serve that purpose just fine. Everything else about the novel is pretty weak and the main character is kind of an airhead. I get it, her situation is horrible, I feel for every man or woman that finds themselves on the bad end of a damaged marriage with a cheating spouse, it’s heartbreaking. How she gets from point A to point B and her reasoning for going into escorting and loving it kind of puts her on the same level as her asshole husband. She tries really hard to justify her reasons for doing things but none of those reasons are good. What a surprise that her first customer is utterly perfect. He’s attractive, rich, and all for pleasing her, and it’s just too idealistic and so far from reality that it made me roll my eyes.

I got this book for free and so my expectations weren’t all that high, but I was still underwhelmed. While I was half curious as to how the conflict between Julia and her husband plays out, but not enough to purchase two more books when the problems with the first far outweighed the good.

No longer dry as a desert anymore

I gave this a 4.75 star rating. I really liked the writing in this book. It is well written and it flows well. It kept me interested. It was a nice short story where we read of a couple, a "supposedly" happy couple. When the wife Julia finds her husband Paul is cheating after a night of snide comments and emotionless sex. He left her dry, wanting satisfaction, and hurting physically and mentally. She finds all the evidence of his infidelities when she makes an in depth look into his activities. She had a feeling he was not faithful when he didn't make her feel like a woman and wanted. She wants to leave but after weighing her options, having no money after signing a prenuptial agreement and no family to support her, she decides to get a job.

One thing I noticed and loved about Julia was as she was rationalizing her actions in her head her body was pushing her forward in her adventure on being an escort. Her body was on autopilot and was ignoring the reasoning her mind was coming up with.

In her endeavours, Julia realized that escorting and having sex with a stranger was the same as having sex with Paul. She hasn't known her own husband for a few months. She is gaining more and more confidence to do this for her family and her freedom. She started to make herself presentable. She shaved her legs, waxed her woo-ha, did her nails, and got a new bra. New attitude...new appearance.

Her first client David was a perfect first for Julia. He was sexual and sensual. He made her feel like the most beautiful woman, like nobody else existed. He wanted her all to himself, making her feel more special. He felt all over her, being gentle, and taking his time to savor her (in more than one way). He didn't treat her like a possession, even though he paid for her services and she might have felt that way.

The only problem I had was the monologue of thoughts she had about what she was doing and how how much she was enjoying it. It slowed the book down for me. I hope the author doesn't do this in the other books. I will be reading the next installment.

Julia’s marriage is in a rut and she wants to fix things with her husband as she feels they have a pretty solid marriage. That is, until she discovers her husbands dirty little secret. Now, she wants out of the marriage and needs to make some money fast. This leads her to making the decision to become an Escort.
As for the characters; Julia is relatable in regards to her life of a housewife, and the problems with her marriage to Paul. Paul, seems closed off towards Julia, and it’s hard to figure him out. But his behaviour does make sense once Julia discovers his secret. I wouldn’t say either of these characters are terribly likeable as their decisions are questionable, especially considering they are parents of 3 young children.
This story seems to glorify the life of an escort to being all wonderful when realistically is not. However, I can appreciate artistic licence and being that it’s fiction the author can make of this profession what she likes, and that’s fine, but on this occasion it just didn’t work for me.
Unfortunately, the writing needs a good edit as there are several mistakes to be found throughout causing a little confusion when names get mixed up.
There are a couple of sex scenes. One is a little painful and he other is quite steamy. I did think these were quite well written.
Overall, a mediocre read and I doubt I will continue on with the series.

This was a very quick short read. Julia who is married to her high school sweetheart she is a stay at home mom with 3 kids her husband Paul comes from a wealthy family and is the CEO of his father's company. Here is where I had a few problems ladies never sign prenups where you don't get a thing Julia did it trying to prove something to his parents because they didn't like her. Julia finds a condom wrapper in her husbands bag and search and finds a video of him having sex with someone else what can she do( make a copy and use it against him in the divorce contest the prenup) that's what I would. She needs money fast and a friend suggests stripping she turns to escorting which I don't have a problem the problem for me was that the sex was not that great and the story was too short, but I am interested in this story and I will be reading the rest of it. I hope that Julia comes to her senses and leave her cheating husband.

Unexpected

This was a very short and quick read. A little daring and a lot of sexiness. When she learns of her husband’s double life, she decided to take her life back and make money so she will be able to support their family without him. How does a stay at home mom make money? By becoming an escort of course, but will she be able to follow through?

The Escort Next Door

Julia is in a loveless marriage now. Especially since she found out her husband was a huge cheater. She needs to make money on the side to leave him and take the children with her. She decides to be an escort since it pays so well. The first time wasn't as bad as she thought. Onto the next book.

This is a short story, very interesting, ending in a teaser to read the next. I do not like that. However, Julia, the main character, is in a situation being married to her childhood sweetheart not happily it seems on his side, when she finds out he is having several one night stands. The gist is how to rectify this. Etc Etc Etc

Single PoV - Julia

This was a venture for me but I needed to read something different and it was a short read.

It was a little exasperating to see how the husband, Paul, treated the FMC and she allowed it. But it was interesting to read her thoughts about her new job and I’m interested to see where the author takes the next book.

Another rating: 5/10

Julia lives her happy life with successful husband and three kids or more specifically it just looks like she has a nice marriage. Her husband became distant and then she reveals his horrible secret. What is she supposed to do? Her decision is to change her life completely.

I really liked the author's writing style which was enjoyable and her choose of words but I can't tell this about story or characters.

Julia is an awful main character and she really got on my nerves. She was so stupid and naive that I wasn't surprised by her husband cheating her so much. Who would be? She was extremely passive silly housewife who hasn't think about anything just how not worthy for her sweetheart she is. Come on! Even he was a bastard who only terrorised her (women are not supposed to clean your mess or give you a sex whenever you want) she idealised him and even didn't think about anyone else in her whole life (for real? who the hell did raised her? the Amish people?). Other characters are plain, they are in story just for the story and you could easily replace them (Julia's friend for example it could be her mother, some stranger going around and giving her this stupid idea, whatever). There is also no chemistry between them and they are just blabbing around about nothing (yeah insert some stupid conversations here). Even the plot idea sounds interesting the characters killed it absolutely.

The story is cheap and has so many holes that it's quite surprising it still somewhat works (well not so much for me obviously).
1) Her husband just had a billions of emails from his escorts and one night stands. How convenient! Did he never heard that it's super easy to get into your mailbox?
2) Divorcing. This was super extra problem here because he could get kids. I don't know how it's working in America but in my nation kids usually get with mother and there must be a really big problem if not. I mean Julia could live with her friend ok? And finding job I mean normal job it's not such a problem. If she really wants she could find a job before divorcing (normal job) and cover it up like she need to be with people or something for her or whatever. But no! Not in this story she must be an escort because author wanted it! Screw the logic!
3) Which friend would give you this kind of job idea???? Working as a pole dancer or stripper? Really? Not helping her with money or just taking her to her house but this?
4) At first Julia insist about pole dancing but suddenly she is okey with escorting which is not believable.
5) Escorting sounds like awesome fun and you can get a huge amount of money... Come on! It's not a fun! It's dangerous! You can get raped, beaten, kidnapped, killed, whatever, especially if you are doing it on your own like Julia (nobody knew where she was or what she was doing). And of course having nice, beautiful and humble client is a complete rubbish (nice man are not waiting for you at corners).

I might be digging to much into it but for me story needs a logic and common sense and The Escort is really missing it. It's just a fairy tail for old women who loves to look around in pink glasses but sorry world just don't work like this.

Sex scenes were kinda ok but I am really fed up with everything going awesome and perfect.

Overall. I've read worst than this but the optimism about this kind of job really annoyed me.

I really enjoyed this book! I couldn’t put it down to the point I couldn’t take notes while reading to write this review.

Admittedly, I read reviews after I finish a book before I write my review to see what other people thought. Not that I let it influence my thoughts and feelings but it’s nice to get a feel for others thoughts on the book.

Anyway, I read a review that said this book was to unrealistic (not a direct quote) I agree but it was still exciting even if unbelievable.
There’s not much more I can say on the book itself, just that I enjoyed it and really liked the main character.

However, I have knocked a star off for a reason! I was originally planning to give this book 5* even though it ends abruptly and is not a story within a larger story as a book in a series should be. However, having enjoyed it to the extent that I wanted to purchase and read the further books and continue on this journey. I went to amazon and saw that I could purchase book 2 & 3 together… for £4.99!! For 174 pages!!!!!! I was gobsmacked and disgusted. Sadly, I do not think it’s worth that much in length of the book or the story itself. I can’t agree with paying more than £0.99 for a book that’s less than 100 pages! These books are approximately 87 pages each… that’s really small. Together, they would not make a decent sized paperback and when I say together I mean all 3! I’m sorry, the price of the books feels like extortion, put the three together and sell them for £2.99 and I’m sure you’d find people more willing to spend hard earned money on your work. I will not pay that much and therefore will not be continuing with this series.

Freebie for the Kindle, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

To start off with a positive, I liked the writing style/voice.
BUT there were so many other issues with this that I can't give it more than one star. There were a few typos, which always annoy me, but I've sadly come to expect from freebie books.
Then there's the length. It was only about 100 pages or so, which really did not fit with the pace of the writing. It felt like this was just the first few chapters or so of a much longer book. Yes, it does say "To be continued" at the end, but then it needs to be clear from the beginning that this isn't a complete story in itself.

The biggest problem I had with this as a story (I'm not going to go into the subject matter as such because this would otherwise be way too long) was that it was NOT believable. That sudden switch from "oh no, I possibly couldn't STRIP" to "I could be an escort!" just didn't make sense. It was too quick, I needed her to either really talk herself into it and make it an agonising decision or seriously consider the stripping with more of an open mind when her friend first suggests it.
I also wanted to see the ad she placed, what exactly did she say in it? That would possibly give a bit of insight into the types of men that would respond.
