Holi is about celebrating the triumph over good and evil. It is also a celebration of love. It is a Hindu holiday. People have a bonfire to represent the story of Prahlad and Holika. They also gather in the streets to throw colored paint on one another and have a big feast. This little book is a great a introduction to a holiday I knew very little about. It explains the different Holi traditions in simple, engaging text. As an adult who is only slightly familiar with Holi, I learned a lot about the holiday. This book would be informative and engaging for kids. The photos are beautiful, and all the concepts are covered in easy to understand ways.

This book explains Holi in a way that small children can understand. Very nice introduction to this important Hindu festival. I read somewhere that Holi is a celebration that is really transcending geographic region or religious beliefs; Holi is celebrated by those who are not Hindu but feel drawn to the colors and message of good triumphing over evil.

I was unfamiliar with Holi before reading this, and loved learning about the backstory as well as modern celebrations. The text is easy to follow and well-suited for the age group, and the images are lovely!
