Jina is bored on the family’s shopping trip so her dad takes her outside while her mom finishes up. Out in the parking lot, Jina and her dad see a pet adoption event going on across the way. Jina knows her parents won’t let her have a pet yet, but it won’t stop her from telling others about the animals and seeing if she can’t help more of them find homes. She also helps her cousin and aunt when they find a stray cat with kittens under their back porch by connecting them with the animal rescue lady at the adoption event.

Jina certainly doesn’t do anything halfway. Her sympathy for the pets is sweet, and I admire her parents’ fortitude in sticking to the boundaries they set her for a pet in all of this. The book includes some information on fostering, what to do if you find a stray cat, and pet adoption that is applicable to real life, and may be informative and helpful down to the road to some little animal lovers.
