I found this disappointing as a "workbook" type of reference. It is definitely geared toward the beginner but, contrarily, is filled with fairly sophisticated knitting patterns. The book looks gorgeous but many projects aren't photographed adequately. The Cable Cushion has one photo that doesn't even show its front side. The woman's Cabled Sweater is very baggy and lacks a back photo. Plus, there are NO schematics! I love Debbie Bliss patterns but this book seems like someone gathered together a handful of her designs to put another book out there, when there are other much better Debbie Bliss books already.

This book is really helpful to those starting out to knit. There are many examples (and drawings) of what to do with each step. Additionally, there are sections devoted to just about everything you will encounter while making the projects inside. As for the projects, I really like most of them and can see myself making and wearing them. Overall a really great book for beginners with some great designs.

Someone gave this book to me one Christmas; I have enjoyed it very much and continue to refer to it from time to time for inspiration or to answer a particular knitting related question. I find it very calming and aesthetic.
