"No one is ever going to hurt you, Princess. Anyone that tries will have to deal with me. No matter where you are, or what I am doing, I will come running to protect you. I will come running for you whenever you need me. Just call my name."

The Devils Masquerade picks up right after, The Devils Son. We don't miss a beat between the two. While this series primarily focuses on Nick & Kayla, with this installment we get a bit more background information to Dante (Nick's father). We also get valuable information as to why Dante was so neglectful with his children and his reasoning. Which ultimately makes sense in the whole scheme of things.

It's eerily coincidental that both Nick and Dante have both fallen in love with mere mortal woman, which is their ultimate downfall in their grandfathers eyes (Dennis Savage). But unbeknownst to Nick, he is his grand fathers primary focus due to Nicks powerful aura and powers.
Nick's swirling eyes
 photo image_zps092d7900.jpg

It's with Nicks new found power that new characters are introduced, new enemies arise, people are attacked, and even some die, but in the end it's all about who's willing to stay and fight. With this installment we get more of the paranormal element we had previously. And answers as to why Nick is so sought after by his grandfather Dennis Savage.

While in the midst of all this, we have Nicks undivided love that he has for Kayla and his sons, and family. It's this powerful bond he has for them that makes Nick so human.

Nicks banter with Kayla is so enjoyable. It reminds you that they are a normal young happy married couple with children. It's adorable to read how immensely they love each other and their sons. It's what makes them so desirable.

Unfortunately, the storyline seemed to be incoherent at times. The author seems to lack detail and structured setting. Things just seem to start and abruptly end which makes it difficult for a reader to fully enjoy the experience of all their up and downs. I just couldn't connect with them or envision their trial and tribulations. I always felt like I was missing something. Regardless, the storyline is unique and refreshing but it's Nick who ultimately wins the show.

The Jayzon gang is back. This time around, Dennis Savage is at the forefront of things. We finally get the full picture of Nick's heritage. He is literally the devil's son. He is Dennis' grandson. And grandpa needs Nick to take over the "realms".

We first get the backstory for Dante and Sophia. The resemblance to Nick and Kayla's love affair is glaring. We get a better understanding of Dante and learn that he is a good man - not merely the neglectful father Ryan and Nick remembers. There is a big reveal in Dante's story that is a guarantee LOL moment. Classic Jennifer Loren humor. This comedic sense comes out in various times in the book too. Always entertaining.

We had hints of the PNR element of this book since book 1 - mainly in the form of Nick's swirling devil's eyes. I was not really certain of this PNR element until book 3, TDS. The PNR element is in full-force here. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive going into this book. There are a lot of new characters and otherworldly aspects/components. I found it overwhelming at times. But the backstories and explanations are straight to the point always - preventing these from being a drag.

If I have any issues, I will say that Nick's voice sounded oddly too formal for me here. Ryan too.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars as it is the middle part of the story. IMO, this should be read in this manner - one after the other.
1. The last 25-30% of TDS
2. The Poison
3. The Remedy
We won't get the full effect until we get that last book. I feel that this is one of those series that the final book is needed to "complete" the book beforehand. Think Knight and Play and Find You in the Dark. The final book in those series blows you away and serves to enhance the first book. Everything makes full sense in the end.

I have loved Nick and Kayla's story from day 1. Kayla is Sophia to Nick. Their story remains compelling even with the PNR element. Hopefully, they are stronger in their respective "abilities".

I. NEED. THE. REMEDY. NOW!!! This ball is going to be EPIC!

The Devil's Masquerade: The Poison (The Devil's Eyes-book 4) by Jennifer Loren was the best of the bunch so far! These books just keep getting better & better! It is no secret that I am a huge fan of this series but the fact that they keep improving has me thrilled! Too often we start these series and as each one comes out we find ourselves disappointed that they are just not as good as the first. NOT so in this case. I read the first three books back in January and I pretty much devoured them back to back. Then there was the long wait till this book 4 came but it was so worth the wait. So in book 2 I started to think there was a SLIGHT hint that some paranormal might be heading our way. By book 3 I still was not sure if paranormal “something or other” was starting to be presented. Well let me just say now I’m sure there is no doubt that now we do have a paranormal element that has appeared and you know what …it works perfectly! I have only read one paranormal book/series EVER which was the EIT series & that’s only because one of my book besties Johanna threatened me with bodily harm if I didn’t at least give it a shot. That being said even though I grew to love EIT, paranormal books are not on my forefront of books to read. But I must say it was done so well here that I would not be so reluctant to give them a shot again if they are not TOO “out there” if you get my drift. Anyway, NO SPOILERS here! I loved being back with all these incredible characters and some new ones as well. These characters have you feeling so many emotions. They are frustrating, scary, sexy, laugh out loud funny and can have you sad all in one chapter. We get SO MANY questions answered as we begin to learn so much more about Dante (Nicholas Jayzon’s father) and dare I say I love Dante now too! My only recommendation is if you need to refresh your brain from when you last read this series pick a handful of reviews that DO contain spoilers from each book & read the last chapter and or epilogue from the last book only. That’s all I needed and I was right back in Nicholas Jayzon’s world. Book 5 The Devil's Masquerade: The Remedy (The Devil's Eyes, #5) which is really supposed to be a part 2 to this book is expected to be out soon and there is nobody more excited than this girl! From book 1 till book 4 this series has taken me to somewhere I never expected to go. Even though every book before this one got a 4.5- almost 5 stars I saw no reason to do the same here so it’s an EASY 5 stars for me :)
Kinda MY Nicholas Jayzon

What an amazing continuation to an excellent series!!! *swooooooooon Nick and Kayla are so wonderful together and make such a dynamic duo. The way this story has progressed and grown is a fabulously light PNR treat. Getting POVs from some of the newer characters gives an interesting insight to the evil developing throughout the story. This was a roller coaster of a book and I'm going bat shit crazy waiting for Remedy!! No spoilers but I can say you will cry, scream and cheer throughout!!! If you enjoyed the first three in this series you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! Jennifer knocked my socks off with Poison I was up until 3am finishing this book. I wish I could give you more stars for this one Jennifer 5 just does seem like enough..I LOVED IT..LOVED IT...LOVED IT!!!!

Spoiler Alert

Okay. Let me start by saying that I am a huge Jennifer Loren fan and I think she is an amazingly talented writer and The Devil's Eyes is one of my all time favorite series. With that said, I was just a tiny bit disappointed with this newest installment.

Here's the gist of what's going down:
It starts out (for the first 18% or so) in the point of view of Nick's Dad Dante. At first I was confused and didn't like this because I wanted to get back to Nick, Kayla, and the gang. However, I quickly got interested in Dante's past and was thankful to have seen what really went down to lead to the current predicament Nick and his family seem to be in. It helped piece together certain parts of the story so it was definitely necessary. It was also a nice surprise that Dante is brought back to life (but in a disguise) to help his family and defeat his father, the bane of everyones existence... Dennis Savage.

After Dante's story is told we get back to the POV of Nick, Kayla, and some of my other favorite characters. They are all still trying to come up with a plan to defeat Savage and to save Nick from turning to the dark side. As the story progresses it takes a toll on everyone including Nick and Kayla's relationship. Savage knows as long as Nick has Kayla by his side then he is pretty much never going to succumb to his evil ways.

Nicholas is strong, intelligent, intuitive, and powerful, and Kayla is the same. Together, they are unbreakable.

New characters are introduced, some new allies pop up, more enemies arise, some people are attacked, some die, and some have to decided if they want to stay and fight or run and hide.

Why I was disappointed:
I felt like the writing was completely different for at least 50% of the book. I don't know, something was just "off". I wasn't connecting with the story and a lot of the characters and their dialogue seemed completely different from the previous novels. It was flat and it didn't have the same "feel" I'm used to in this series. Instead of feeling like I am right there with them an experiencing what is going on, I instead felt like I was an outside observer and it kept me from connecting with the story. At one point I was so annoyed with it I had to take a break from reading and come back. I didn't understand why I felt it was written differently because from other reviews I read no one else felt this way, so maybe it's just me and I was just having an "off" day. However, I can say that around the 55% mark it started feeling like the other books in the series and the flow with most of the characters (Kayla, Elijah, and Ryan) seemed to come back and I had those laugh out loud moments.

Now, my second issue... Nick. Where as the other characters flow seemed to come back, Nick's did not. Nick is my favorite character of this series and I felt he wasn't "Nick" in this one. What happened to the strong, confident, intense, take-no-shit, sexy as sin, incredibly INTELLIGENT, Nick Jayzon? Because I felt he was completely absent for this WHOLE novel and replaced with a scared, unsure, confused, insecure, unintelligent impostor. Now, I know, he has a lot going on and his and his family's lives are being threated but would that warrant for him to have a complete 180 degree personality change? Nope, I don't think so. He acted so strange to me and his interactions with the other characters seemed not "Nick like". He was more mushy and tame compared to the Nick in the previous novels. He made horrible decisions that weren't very smart (like leaving his family to go live with Savage) and I didn't understand why he was acting this way.

I want my Nick back!
"Kayla, don't you understand that my love for you is so embedded in my heart that it doesn't beat without you?"-Nick

And Kayla does too!

Now to Sam. Oh, my sweet sweet Sam. I really liked her in the last book and was really excited for Ryan as he finally found "the one". I think she really added something special to the gang. So when she was murdered... I about died because I did not see that coming. My heart broke into a million pieces for Ryan. No, make that a billion.

She falls to the floor with him in her arms and cries right along with him, and along with Elijah, me, and everyone else within ear shot. No on is dry-eyed tonight.

Ryan's pain cuts us all.

And lastly is Franky. I hated her. Or more like I hated the demon that is pretending to be Franky so she can take Kayla's place and become the demon wife for Nick that Savage wants her to be. Yeah, you heard that right.
So we can all stop hating on Franky now...

because, well, it isn't even her.
This demon chick that can take other's appearances is an impostor and wiggles her way into Nick and Kayla's home to try to get Nick to leave Kayla for her.

"So did you see her?"
"Who? Oh, Franky?"
I nod impatiently.
"Yeah, Nick introduced her to me when I came in. She seems nice."
I sit up and glare at her.
"I mean... nice for an obviously evil, cum-guzzling, cheap, back- alley slut, and all other horrible things in the world that I am too much of a lady to mention."-Kayla and Exie

Though Ryan succumbs to her evil charms for awhile, Nick never does... at least from what we know. The ending left us unsure of what is going on between Nick and Franky-the-demon because by the end he is completely under Savages evil influence and doesn't seem to care about Kayla.

What I liked:
Kayla, Elijah, and Ryan. Why Nick is off trying to "save" everyone by being the martyr(stab me now) these three became a unified unit again in trying to save their family and Nick from Savage. They had me laughing and really made this book get the "feel" back of the previous novels.

True to his word, Elijah never makes a move, but he holds my hand whenever I need him to.-Kayla"

I can say just like the other novels the plot was fast paced and something was always going on and had me either surprised, broken hearted, pissed off, or nervous. Ms. Loren has an amazing imagination and is a pro at making her story very unpredictable. I like not knowing what is going to happen, it makes the book exciting and keeps me glued to my kindle.

I also liked that we got into the paranormal aspect a bit more in this installment. We learn more about the High Council and the demon Lords. I remember being surprised that this series veered in that direction because from the first two books it reads like a gritty darker romance. So when the paranormal aspects started popping up I was surprised but didn't mind because I'm a huge paranormal fan and these books are just so damn good.

Nicky! I loved little Nicky. He had a little more presence in this one compared to the last book. He seems to be just like his father and is going to be uber powerful as he can already heal people and can even bring them back to life (Kayla). I loved how he protected his little brother and his momma. It was so sweet and I can't wait to see where the story takes this little guy.

Surprising I really liked the ending. It does leave us with a cliffhanger but it's a cliffhanger with hope for the next book. We get hope that Kayla is going to come back fighting and kicking ass and taking names. And hope that she can defeat Savage and bring her husband back to the Nick we all know and love.

"Kayla!" Elijah yells after me. He calls out to me again, but I ignore him and continue on with my plans to leave, to run away, to leave my husband forever.

Overall I gave this new installment in The Devil's Eyes 4 stars because the last half really won me over. Once I felt like the writing and the characters were back to their normal flow I was hooked and couldn't put it down. Though I was left a little disappointed, I still enjoyed it and can't wait for the next and final book. Ms. Loren is a fantastic writer and I am forever a fan.

Will I die running or will I die fighting?
For Nick ... I would die fighting the devil himself.

What can I say? I am a Devil's Eyes series junkie, a pure addict! The story continues with Nick's and Kayla's conflict of evil lurking too close to home. We get a better sense and understanding of the PNR side to the story and as a result we meet many new interesting characters! I absolutely loved the twist to the story and cannot wait until The Remedy gives us some closure!

5 BRILLIANT,FAST-PACED,I-AM-ON-EDGE, OMG-I-NEED-MORE STARS!!

Okay wow! what a bloody roller-coaster ride!

The starting at first was like eh what's going on? Then you find out about Dante, Nick's dad and his story. In the previous books we aren't told much about his dad and what we are told doesn't show Dante in a positive light. The starting is vital and explains a lot into what actually happened before Nick and everyone else was born and how Savage has always been evil, and how he effects those around him.I felt so sorry for Dante and I totally understand why he wasn't close to his kids, why he pushed them away.He was like a little Nick aww bless him! You find out that Savage is an evil controlling power hungry man who like to be the one in charge.

The Poison carries on from where the previous book left off.I was a little nervous about reading this one as I just really didn't want Nick to go bad or bad things to happen! Oh how things changed.I was hooked and I couldn't stop reading, the twists and turns had me on edge and jittery.I needed to know what would happen next.
As Nick's power starts to heighten so does his enemies.

She falls to the floor with him in her arms and cries right along with him, and along with Elijah, me, and everyone else within ear shot. No on is dry-eyed tonight.

When you go to war some people will fall and others will survive. There are some heart-breaking moments that I just did not expect. Why? whyyyy? how cruel *sobbing*

I loved all the characters as I always have in this series the new ones were mostly evil! I wanted to help kill them pftt. Kayla as always loved her spirit and charisma, she kept on fighting, she can't lose.
And she is going to go get her Nick back.Yes Yes you go girl!!

“Will I die running or will I die fighting? For Nick ... I would die fighting the devil himself.”

Nicky is such a cutie aww! In this book you see more of Elijah loved him, his funny comments and well just all of him. I really hope he settles down I feel so sorry for him as he wants a family like Nicks.
He is so sweet and lovely with Kayla in this one but there is still banter Ryan, Elijah and Kayla make a great team!

True to his word, Elijah never makes a move, but he holds my hand whenever I need him to.-Kayla

I want my Nick back!! NOW! I hope the last book ends well.I was surprised that this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger yet it still makes you want to carry on reading. Ahhh Brilliant! Well done Jennifer Loren!!

Right now lets get to Franky or as I like to call her..Fanny face! Urghhh I wanted to kill her..did I say kill her? why yes I guess I did but wait i don't want to shoot her or stab her no no that would just be too kind.I would like to rip her apart and chop her into tiny pieces coz I am just an awesome person :)

Bring on the next book!!

And that's how the book ends. Terrible cliffy right?!

This book has more of a paranormal flare to it which is great. The Devil's Masquerade had more suspense and action to it than the other books which is AWESOME. Enjoyed and devoured every single page in this book.

Along with the action it had heartbreaking scenes too. And with the up coming book you best believe it will make you cry tears of frustration. All I want to know is..."What is Kayla going to do?" she is such a BAD ASS. And from the looks of it she will not be the only one with superpowers.

Its hard to write the review with out giving away to much spoilers nahh huhhh not from me other then pick it up if u havn't read this series!! get on it NOW and if you have well what are u waiting for get on Poison bc Remedy is not to far behind!! This series is one of my Favs y well of coarse bc of Nick Jayzon Kayla Jayzon Ryan Jayzon and Elijah Stevens! just when you think it can't get better guess what it does this series does not bore you !! u began to be introduce to the story in book 1 and 2 but u barley scratch the surface bc as it goes there is a twist after twist after twist it keeps u on your toes and wanting more. in Poison it helps answer so much more and helps you understand The Devil's Son and now you learn the family tree and you also get to meet new charaters which can but confusing but Jennifer does so well introducing you to them and giving you just enough that u want to learn more about them. O.M.G If I could give this 10* I would

The Devil’s Masquerade “The Poison”

All I can say is O.M.G.

Jennifer Loren did an absolutely fabulous job with this series. It sucks you in immediately with the first book The Devil’s Eyes then with The Devil’s Revenge and then The Devil’s Son. The Devil’s Masquerade is actually a two parter which will finish up with The Devil’s Masquerade “The Remedy”. With all her little teasers and the video and the return of Franky I was totally freakin out thinking Nick was going to have an affair and hurt Kayla.

Was I so totally off base she really got me there. I can’t give any spoilers because I don’t want to ruin this read for anyone. The emotional highs and lows were unbearable. I was holding my breath, crying, cussing under my breath and I just wanted to punch someone. The twists and turns in this story continuation of the Devil’s Eyes and the shock and awe’s are unbelievable. Some of the details that were revealed blew me away. Especially the one with Galena, and then of course the family stray dog eey. You will be shocked. The kick in the teeth was Ria and her special talent, it actually took me a bit to figure that one out I was too busy concentrating on Franky.

I desperately need The Devil’s Masquerade “The Remedy” NOW. Jennifer Loren if I could give you 10* you would have them. This is Def a 5* read. In fact the entire series is a must read and a multiple must read. The first time around you are so engrossed you whiz through the series. The 2nd time around you can savor every single word. Thanks for the almost anxiety attack. My one recommendation when reading this series is Take a Deep Breath and BREATHE.

Ok, I'll bite. I wasn't the biggest fan of this paranormal turn of events, and while I am still not settled with it all, I have embraced it a little more and as such learned to appreciate the concept more than the last installment. I still see these characters as a bunch of criminals, and not supernatural forces, that make literal life and death decisions with realms and all sorts of hoopla.

Kayla is still fiery, but she is fizzling a little and there is so much confusion that I just want all the ducks to line up and get to the fighting part. There is so many angles and POVs to this story. I do however like the different POVs, as it helps to keep us in the loop, and keep me from screaming at the pages more than I do now.

I am beginning to like Elijah more than before and Nick is getting more distant as the time goes. I feel like I don't know his character as much as I did before. Honestly, I miss him too :(
There is so many elements and layers. I can truly say that this book is written well, with just the right balance and discovery. If this series had started as a paranormal, I would love it even more.

I have always loved Ryan's character, and while he is straying and has lost his way, I love him even more and keep rooting for him. After Kayla, Nick and Nicky, he is my favorite character. I am also pleased to see so many of the old guys still within the inner circle.

Overall though, I feel as if this story is in it's beginning stages and this seems to actually be the second to last book in this series. Then again, who knows. This book started out as a crime drama and next thing you know people are dying from heart attacks at all ages!

We got some background on the Savage/Jayzon family and I loved it. I believe it was just the foundation needed to kick us off on this paranormal journey, even though it contributes to the new vibe that I get from this story. Whilst I feel the familiarity to most of the characters, it has also uprooted me and have me trying to figure out who is what (yes what) and what side I should be on.

Therein lies my predicament. While I know this is a well written novel, with a great story line and set of characters, I know them. At least I thought I did. As such, I am having trouble acclimating to them as paranormal beings and the story feels like a start. Still, I am intrigued, kept interested and can't wait to know more about this world they have entered and what awaits the clan.

This book is like an introduction into this series and feels like the first book in a series as oppose to the fourth. It will have you a little shaky and confuse, but it is a good book with an interesting set of characters and possibilities in abundance. You might be confused, but you won't be bored :)

4.5 STARS!

This series started with Dante’s POV… yeah, the Dante that is Nick’s deceased dad…. who somehow pleaded with “The Council” to come back to life so he can help his son fight his battle against Dennis Savage. So, now we are talking about ”Councils” and “Lords of Realm” who are like the high powered officials of the demons…. so yeah, this series has totally and irrevocably gone complete paranormal! With Savage planning on replacing all that are seated to his own people which will give him the ultimate power.

I couldn’t care less that this has gone paranormal cause the author did a superb job interweaving both world into the storyline and it just upped the ante!

Though my beloved hero Nick has finally lost his cool somehow… Too scared that he might turn to the “dark side” once Savage puts this dark venom in him and he’ll end up hurting his family, and in trying to put distance between Savage and his family…. he agreed with everything Savage tells him to do, like move out and move in with Savage, thinking it’s the only way to protect his family! Bad plan Nick.. very bad… You should know better!

And this Franky situation, I think it’s gone too far stretched with her scheming loud ass…. too darn annoying and she’s starting to make the other characters look lame… they are far too smart than this! Thank God for Elijah and Kayla who somehow are the only ones that can see through her!

In this book,

This is written in multi POV’s, you get to read Savage’s evilness… I could not hate anymore more!!!! He had planned everything for years and now it feels he is getting what he wants!

Meanwhile our Little Nicky always steals the show….adorable!!! Obviously he is not normal 6 years old since he is like his father who has those powers. I love how he is protective towards his mom!

There is a lot of tense moments…. a loss of a love one… new alliances... more surprises, and whole lot of mind games… And though this has completely crossed into PNR, yes, I’ve said it…. cause now it seems Kayla has her own power too… BUT it still works for me. I love every action, suspense and all the twist and turns of the story.

OMG There have been two books that I have been dying for...Thief and The Devil's Masquerade. Neither one has disappointed...in fact, it's been just the opposite, both of these fantastic authors manage to pull me in, twist me in knots, give me hope, take it away, give it back....and generally make me a crazy person.

I am addicted to Jennifer's brilliant this series, which is a genre that I normally do not read...the para-normal romance.

Last night I read about half of book #4 The Poison and got a good understanding of the backstory that is driving the present story. I'm just coming up on the section in book #4 where my favorite characters are going to be tested, pulled apart, mentally tortured and all those other bad things....but I have faith in Nick and Kayla, so I just know (or hope beyond hope) that love will conquer all in book #5.

But this puts me at crossroads... Do I finish reading book #4 today and go crazy for the next several weeks until the final book comes out?

Or, do I hit pause and pick up the second half of book #4 when I have book #5 safely tucked away in my Kindle ready and available to help me through my angst?

There are not many author's that are so good and that they can make you not only fall in love with such flawed characters but put them up on a pedestal. (I mean Nick was no sweetheart in book #1 after all and Kayla was out for revenge initially). Jennifer Loren is one of those brilliant writers that can do just that.

I don't know what I am going to decided to do about my own reading dilemma but I know what you should do if you have not yet read this series...GO BUY IT TODAY! Simply Brilliant!!!!

I'm just not sure. I'm tempted, but I'm just not sure...

Nick Jayzon has battled many enemies, and has defeated them all. But now he faces the ultimate evil. A brutal Savage of his own blood who will stop at nothing to control him, to Poison Nick, and to harden his heart forever. Many have tried to stop Asmodeus and many have died in the process. But now, he will try, and he isn't coming alone. They won't all survive. And the one soul Savage fears, is scared and is considering running away with her children before they are murdered too. But there is one Jayzon ally, which Savage has long forgotten that will come back to help them as well as a much stronger and deadlier ally, will consider turning against her own and siding with the Jayzons. But together, can they destroy the devil? Free Nick before it’s too late? Before the Masquerade seals his fate?

Wow!! I LOVED it. This story truly gets better and better with every book. This is my first shot at the paranormal genre. What I loved about this series is there is such a slow build up with the paranormal stuff that you don't get lost in it. There are a lot of characters so I had to stop every once and a while, look up and arrange them in my head. They are a great bunch though. Nick and Kayla are BAD ASS. I love them and believe they can fight anything. This is a fabulous storyline and I am so looking forward to the last book. This book didn't leave me screaming, it left me with HOPE! There is so much passion in this book and it also had me cracking up. How can you not crack up with Elijah ? ;)

I just love this series so much that I couldn't wait for the lengthy paperback delivery and instead splurged on a kindle just to have this book in my mitts within seconds... true dedication if I say so myself!!! The Devil's Masquerade fulfilled my expectations and more. The chemistry between Kayla and Nick is so breathtaking and the different POVs made the story far more interesting. However, I'm so obsessed with the lovebirds, that I found myself quickly reading through the many other characters until I was safely back with N & K. I never saw the day where a book series has me on the hunt for dangerous criminals.

This book was absolutely amazing! I just finished the first three books at the beginning of the month and have been in a Nick Funk since! I am a HUGE Nick & Kayla fan & I really enjoyed being with them again and getting to see them work through their obstacles and struggles they are faced with in Poison. The PNR twist we saw in the previous books was explained in detail and many questions I had were answered this time around. Jennifer really did a spectacular job with this book, I LOVED IT & I can not wait for Remedy to be released!!

3.5 stars...The first two books were so good that I re-read them so many times. The third one in this Series was ok.

And..this one...OMG I did not expect the paranormal elements in it. I did not like it at all.

Plus, Nick was presented as totally different than in first books.

Sorry but I am a bit disappointed with this sudden change of genre in this Series.

this book doesn't really deserve 4 stars unless it gets some major editing! BUT, I'm so fucking attached to the characters that I can't bring myself to give it any lower. Oh well, it's my page and I'll mark it as I want.
Don't judge me :)

OMG! I was totally enchanted by The Devil´s Masquerade: The Poison by the A.W.E.S.O.M.E. author Jennifer Loren. If the other 3 previous books were gut-twisting…..then this one was anxiously infuriating. I enjoyed every second of the angsty feeling I had from the first page to the last.

I didn´t know there was anything that could tear Nick and his Kayla apart….until….Dennis Savage decided to make it his mission to destroy the couple and make Nick Jayzon ( oh, by the by….who is also the devil´s grandson…) his.

The feelings I got while reading this book were outrageous. I felt my heart beating fast after every chapter and I wanted nothing more than for Nick to go all super scary bad/good guy on his grandpa´s ass. This story made me nuts ( in the best way ever! ).

Can the enemy take over and destroy a bond that is unbreakable?. In this book….It sure can! When Savage wants something….he will go to extremes to get it. And in this case…he was on his way to take control over Nick to complete the destiny that was planned for the Savage family. Nick was to take his place as the demon he was supposed to be. With his ability to eliminate anything that got in his way, Nick was born to be at the devils side. But was that what Nick wanted for himself?

Nick was aware of Savage and his plans, but wanted nothing to do with them. His love and devotion for his wife, Kayla, and his two sons was the only thing that kept Nick in the right place, and with only that….Nick was the richest man on earth. When Nick found out about Savages´ major plan to take over the unisverse, Nick was determinded to fight the evil that was seaking him out. But unfortunately without success. Savage gets his sticky little claws on Nick and leaves Kayla, the kids, and many others confused behind. How could the man who protected his biggest priority just drop everything and leave? How could he stop loving his equal within a few moments?

Haha….Thats for you guys to find out! I was so ready to attack at that moment. The frustration I felt was unbearable and I wanted to beat the crap out of the situation. No….scratch that…..I wanted to beat the whole book up!

I´m telling y´all…..the heartbreak and the agony I felt for some characters was so heavy, it felt like my own. Eli, Kayla, Ryan, Nick, and even some family members from the ” dark-side” were such a joy to read about and to see what they had to struggle with.

Can Kayla´s love save Nick from becoming the ultimate evil? Will both be able to win against the greatest evil facing this earth? I sure as hell hope so! If not….I might have a nervous breakdown!

With this book being the 4th in the series….I kind of thought there wasn´t much more an author could come up with to keep the complete story interesting enough. I´ve read enough books to see major differences between this series and others..for example: there was NO constantly repeating the dialogues, trying to fill in plot-holes, and desperately trying to capture a readers attention by focusing on just one topic ( may that be from sex to emotions or any other subject you can imagine)…Jennifer Loren balanced everything perfectly. There was enough of everything, and for a reader to want more. A very very tricky thing to manage, but in my opinion….turning a romance into a paranormal romance (with still a very realistic edge to it) AND keeping the speed of the story at an increasing pace, the author nailed it.

Now, what about the outcome from all of the twists and turns of events in this story? The author really made a point of making you WANT to read the next book. You will want to read the next book ASAP! The ending was spectacular. I loved how there was a reason given to fight….fight for Nick, for the good, and for justice. Oh, and by the way…..there was one character in this book that I loved just as much as I do Elijah and Nick…and that was Kamini. She was something odd but yet totally cool and gave the story another unique touch to it. A must have in the Devil´s Eyes world.

Since I obviously cannot get enough of the book / series / author…..it´s not a surprise at all that this book will receive a fantastic rating..:-)
Read, Read, and READ this book…..damn….read the series!!!! You´ll love it!

The Divas are giving The Devil´s Masquerade: The Poison ( # 4 The Devil´s Eyes) by Jennifer Loren 5 out of 5 champagne glasses!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK AND SERIES!!!!

I am not usually one to read any supernatural kind of books but the first 2 books had me so hooked and the plot keeps twisting but everything fits so perfectly together that I am rethinking my orginal view on this sort of book. Jennifer Loren does an amazing job of even the smallest details hold significance. I never know where the story is going to take me but I love the books. And, i've said this before and i'm going to say it again...her books are not just little mini novels that authors put out, these are full length books and she isn't making you pay $10.00 for a 200 page book, the prices and stories that are written are worth so much more than half the books out there. I have been in love with Kayla and Nick as a couple from the very first book and each book makes me love their characters more and more.

I will admit there were parts of this novel I was laughing (with the dog twist), parts where I was crying (Sam), sad (Eli and his big heart and love for Kayla), and parts where I wanted to throw my kindle across the room (Nick and poison). I wanted him to fight harder to believe in his wife, to insist on seeing his son Nicky. I wanted more of a fight from him. But at the very end I was thinking the same things as Kayla Eli is a great guy, maybe he is better for her than Nick until the final page of the book where Jennifer Leaves us hanging with hope and awhole new route this can go. I should of known when Gidion said what he did, but like I said, every detail comes back with importance. LOVED THE BOOK JENNIFER, JUST WISH THAT THEY BOTH WERE RELEASED THE SAME TIME, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!! What happened to the both being released on 30th? Oh well, i hope it comes soon b/c this cliff hanger has me all twisted up. Even with the book being a good length I couldn't put it down read it right away all at once, couldn't wait and i'm ready for the next!!! Great book, 5 stars!!!

I must say this is probably the best work of the author to date. This series has kept me so wrapped up I haven't had time to process all of the happenings of what has been going on. I just finished Poison and there is so many twists and turns I couldn't keep them all straight. I had to make an outline just to keep up with the pace of the book. I felt I was constantly looking for clues or hints dropped on every page. There was so much mystery and scandal that I overlooked a couple of things, and when they were finally laid at my feet I thought to myself this author is one sly crafty girl. Nicholas Jazyon is my number one book boyfriend, however Kayla is one of the strongest heroines I have read. I hate comparing other authors characters to books, but(I am doing it anyway) if you have read JR Wards BDB books I would compare Kayla to the likes of Beth Or Karen Moning's Fever series MacKayla. If you have read those books then you will know exactly what I am talking about. By far this series is in my top 3. I don't do spoilers for reviews, because I think it defeats the purpose of reading and enjoying a book on your own. Yes you may want to know what happens before you buy the book, but that will only spoil your mind. Your heart will break a million times throughout this book but you will love every minute of it just to see what is going to happen next. Definitely an edge of your seat book, but I didn't expect anything less. Buy this series read this series and breathe it you will thank me after you are done. I cannot wait for the final installment and to watch this talented author grow into something magical.

5+++++Stars

What are you waiting for just go buy it and read!!!!

This book focuses on Savage, (Nick’s Grandfather), his aunt Galena, Kayla, Ryan, and Evil Franky (Nick’s fist love). There is no love triangle; it’s just a whole lot of shady stuff. Their journey is to figure out what Nick’s father was doing to kill Savage before he died. Nick is working hard to unlock this mystery, but not fast enough. He has to surround Savage and work with him to solve the mystery. Meanwhile something horrific happens to Ryan and Ryan has to lean on SHADY Franky.

I knew Franky was very shady when I read about her in the last book. She was way too conveniently around to take care of Nick’s dying mother-“whatever”. But even after reading the book you don’t fully understand what her role is in it. That is why this book is so good; you are continuously trying to figure out which way this story is developing. It has all the elements of a mob story with a paranormal twist. But this twist is not some major superman power, it is a sexy power of ‘just one look and your panties come off’ type. Yes, this story has lots of heat. I give it a 5 out of 5 heat factor. You feel every ounce of it. Nick is super hot and the book reads like a movie. I can’t say anything bad about any of the books in this series other than-bring on the next book.

Well, by now I am sure every one knows how much I absolutely love Jennifer Loren’s books! I never thought before winning that first book of hers from Goodreads last year how obsessed I would be with this series! The Devil’s Masquerade: The Poison is the 4th book of the Devil’s Eyes series and normally by the second or third book of a series I am pretty much over it, granted I will still read them if they come up with more but usually I have to push though it. Not with this series. I give The Poison 5 stars! It grips you right from the beginning! I love that it goes back to tell you what happens with Nick Jayzon’s father and how everything came to be. It wasn’t till the 3rd book of the series that you find out about Nick’s power and his families power and this book explains it more and it transitions into not just a regular “mob series” but more supernatural with Lords, and devil’s and the High Council. It is just beyond awesome! It was very hard to put down! I am so excited to start the 5th book of the series after this! Please go to amazon or barnes and noble and buy this series! I swear it is worth the money!!! Love it!!
