I received an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book through Goodreads First Read program, so I thought I would share my thoughts (which were not required as a condition of receiving the book).

I wasn't to sure about this book once I realized the length of it. However once I opened it and gave it a chance I remembered why I wanted to win it in the first place. The main character (Jessie) starts off at her twin sisters wedding when unannounced to her she realizes the best man was the same guy she hooked up with just days before hand. Jessie has avoided all contact with her sister because of a huge betrayal years ago but gets dragged to the wedding anyway. It isn't long before the two hit it off and hook up, however the thought that her sister had him first makes Jessie's stomach turn. Things become heated with Jessie and Ben and friendship soon turns into love. When the secret of why the twins are no longer close comes out. I liked this book however most of it was pretty predictable from the very beginning yeah it had some parts that I didn't see coming but overall I could have told the whole story and how it played out from the very first page. The book was a romance but I didn't think that it was over done, for those that aren't big romance fans this is the book for you. While I liked the story most of the way I thought that the ending was a cop out. It left you with a huge plot point then never resolved it. Nothing was resolved or even on the way to being solved, and it just created more questions than it answered.

Gripping story about relationships, romance, betrayals, regrets and steamy intimate scenes. The author writes with viseral understanding of the characters. I wonder if she draws some inspiration through personal experiences and relationships - only food for thought. Looking forward to the next installment and congratulations to Ebony again on her 1st publication. :)

I really enjoyed reading this book. For a short fiction it had a well developed story line with characters that were likeable and easy to relate to. The ending was perfect for the story. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

This book was ridiculous. Jessie and Sharnie were twins. When they were 14, Sharnie was pi$$ed that Jessie had gotten her learner’s permit on the first try when Sharnie had failed hers, so Sharnie stabbed Jessie in the shoulder with a knife. Three days before Jessie’s wedding, Sharnie seduced Jessie’s fiancé causing Jessie so much stress and heartbreak that she went into premature labor and her daughter was stillborn. When Jessie refused to forgive and forget, her mother said that she was tired of Jessie’s selfishness and disowned her. 🙄🙄🙄

The idea of this story had great potential which is why I decided to read it. It did not live up to that promise. The MFC finds out the guy she really liked slept with her hated sister she is disgusted upset and shortly after fucks him in the washroom. She later asks him who was better in bed and he tells her calling her sister a slut who fucks like a slut. He is a guy who lost count of how many women he fucked so what does that make him? He said a few things to her not the nicest. The sister was a nightmare and married his best friend. The ending sucked. There was no real development no cluing up the story. It disgusted me that the author had the MMC be with the sister first ons or not. It also was disappointing that she had him be a what was he called in the book manwhore? He was cheated on by his ex wife and after he divorced just decided to fuck everything. If she had moved back she would have to see her sister knowing the sister slept with him first and all the other women he fucked. Him and the sister walking STD. There was enough conflict without tossing in that past ons with the sister. It was a messy story with no real substance. If the MMC had been a decent guy who was not fucking everything and definitely not the sister if we got to see him letting down walls and her actually talking to her family to see the sister offer some sort of remorse. This was not a romance it was a train wreck

I’ve read the first two books in this series and I think this is my favorite to date. I’m still waiting to read more about Holly and Sean, lol. This book centers around Jess and her fling with Ethan, the best man. For a quick read, it sure packs a punch. You will be surprised at the relationship between Jess and her twin sister, Sharnie. I can’t wait to read more in this series, but I hope someone will eventually get a happily ever after. If I had known that ever book ended in a cliffhanger, I would have waited until all the books were published before reading. That’s just my opinion though.

wow

Don’t have a book and have it literally cut off mid scene in the middle of the book.
That’s not a cliffhanger, that’s being an a##h###e.
The thing is the book was good too. I’m so put off by how the author set this up o don’t even care to see how it ends. Hard pass!

I would have given this four stars because the writing was good but for the book to just stop like it did is annoying. There’s no resolution, everyone just kept supporting the horrible sister. Just no.

3.5 ✨’s

There’s some good tension here and I like the romance dynamic, but I didn’t do my research and so the cliffhanger threw me for a loop.

Before I begin this review, I must say that I know the author, and I read the beginnings of this novel when Ebony was posting it online at her blog, where she eventually took those parts of it down before she published. I purchased the book because I had to know how it ended.

Jess returns home for her sister’s wedding, the first time since leaving in the wake of personal disaster. She meets the delectable and mysterious Ethan, who she discovers is her new brother-in-law’s best man. While Jess wonders if she is ready to come home to her family and friends, her past comes back to the fore, and another devastating secret will come out.

Best Man is a commentary on the dysfunction and difficulty of familial and romantic relationships, and how these two can sometimes be worked around to make fulfilling connections for people. Particularly displayed in the relationship of protagonist Jess with Ethan, and also with her mother, who she struggles to have good relations with.

The interplay between Jess and her flirtatious fling Ethan is the best part of this book. Two broken people dancing around each other, each attempting not to get hurt or get involved, rung true as a tribute to the baggage people carry into their love lives in the modern world. I also liked how Ethan is woven in as a part of Jess’ world, before she even know about it.
