Whoah. I don't remember the last book that made me...
Yes. That's it. That's the perfect representation of my face when I finished reading Vision. Lisa Amowitz is a new author on my radar and just by seeing the reviews on her past books, I KNOW, she's good. And this book proved that.
Bobby is the breadwinner of his family. With a father who can't walk and a mother who he thought has runaway, Bobby has no time for girls like Gabe.. or for his eyes to lose sight. But then again, Bobby has this thing where uncontrollable things happen to him. And now that Bobby has been seeing visions of and about the serial killer on the loose, it's a race between him and the killer and Bobby has no intention of losing. Especially if his eye sight is not the only thing he can lose.
I think it's amazing how Lisa wrote Bobby. He's an impressive protagonist because I never thought I could connect so much to a male main character. But I love his voice. I love being inside his head and I can totally feel his situation. Bobby is just so admirable. Anything he does is for his family and sometimes I just wanna shake him just so he can think for himself even for once!! I also love how even though Bobby is the main character, the secondary ones weren't neglected at all. They were fully developed as well and because this is a mystery, YOU CAN'T HELP BUT suspect everybody. They're well written and constructed.
It's a little slow at first but you will find yourself turning the pages urgently sooner than you think just to find out what's gonna happen next. It keeps you guessing and makes you bite your nails. It doesn't lack in suspense and thrill. Everything feels so real that you'll be a little paranoid because these circumstances happen in real life. Honestly, when I finished reading this one I immediately closed everything in the house. Who cares if it's so sunny outside?! I'm not sure if the vacinity is killer-free yet.
I highly recommend Vision to anyone. It's a fast paced YA thriller filled with profound characters. This book is stay-up-all-night, ignore-everything kind of read and it's gonna suck you in right from the start. Bobby will compel you with his voice and as soon as you thought you already had it figured out, you're wrong.
I received an ARC copy of this book free from the author at BEA 2014 in exchange for an honest review. This is the second novel by LIsa Amowitz that I have had the pleasure of reading and I liked it a smidgen better than Breaking Glass. I did find Vision a bit slow at the beginning, only because I'm not a fisher and that's how the story starts off. The read did quickly pickup for me and I was scared to let my dog outside for fear of the serial killer. I thought I had it all figured out and then there was that twist that I was not expecting. I really give props to Amowitz because she writes from male POVs and she does it flawlessly. The way this novel ends leads me to believe/ hope that there may be a second novel. Vision was a very entertaining read with shocking twists. I would recommend it to readers who love murder mysteries. I can't wait to read more by this author.
~ I was a First Reads winner of this book and recieved a free copy in exchange for a honest review.
O m g, I really liked this book! It was so intense, had me paranoid and on the edge of my seat with every chapter!
Bobby Pendell's life is rough, his mother left his dad randomly, his dad is a disabled vet and his little brother is talented but in the middle of all of it. Bobby lives in his poor boring life in the country where he takes care of his beer drinking father and little brother. He tries hard to keep his dad happy and make sure his little brother Aaron grows up to be great. Then unexpectedly he runs into a new girl in town, Gabe Friend. He's dazed right when he meets her, but the problem is, her daddy is his boss. And his boss prohibits anyone from dating his daughter and he can't risk loosing his job. His hands are full enough. With the problems in his hands, 1 is he goes blind temporarily with a migraine and suffers severe horrific hallucinations. Hallucinations of murder. At first he just tries to forget about them, but he soon has to face that these visions might be real and he has to act on them. But, who would believe him? Either way, he has to find out who the killer is before they might starts murdering people in his life. However, will the people trying to help him.. actually want to help him?
My heart was pounding so much while reading this book, it's like you know who is it in one chapter but it deceives you because there's more to it. And I loved the little romance, it was good relief from the thriller parts of the book. After finishing the book, I was like yes this book was a success. The writing was so good that it make me reevaluate my own life because I was so paranoid! Lol lawd this was a good read. I give it 4.5/5 stars. Only because yes fast paste books are good but I wish this just had a little more. The action was there though, trust me. It had a great plot, the writing was good too. The story was basically perfect, especially for Halloween. But, I just thing it lacked a little and needed more to it. Like it was under the perfect line by 1 milliliter. Which is still perfect. Or I was just too sad because the book ended. Nevertheless, this book was so good, like gooder than good. If you're looking for a thriller/mystery book make sure you read this one cause it's flawless! Definitely gonna read more of Lisa Amowitz's books!
I received an ARC copy of Vision that I was incredibly excited to begin. I had read some of Lisa's work before and really enjoyed it - not to mention that, with a serial killer in the main plot line - this book definitely seemed my speed. Luckily, it turned out to be a case in which I had every reason to be excited. I absolutely devoured Vision in nearly one sitting. It's the kind of novel that picks you up and drags you in a rapid, twisting ride all the way until the end.
Although I found the beginning to be a bit slow, the book quickly picked up and held steady with a great pacing. Readers will be eager to learn what happens next and solve the case alone with Bobby.
I thought Bobby was an excellent protagonist. He had such a strong personality that felt entirely authentic, and always stayed true to his character. He really is an admirable person, and I couldn't help but root for him (which is nice, as a weak 'hero' can easily have me on the villain's side). The way he cared for his family, his friendship with Coco, and his relationship with Gabe were all very true-to-life, and interesting to read about.
The plot just kept getting better as the book went on. The sense of urgency and suspense was ever present, and I could really feel Bobby's struggle with the situation. Although not everything was explained, there was enough of an explanation to keep the story believable - which is a medium that's not always found. Even though I was able to predict half of the twist from early on, I still enjoyed the way everything played out. Regardless of how paranoid it might be making me.
It's an incredible ride to an interesting end that leaves a possibility of more (and although I like it as a standalone, I definitely would not complain about seeing Bobby again). Vision is an excellent example of a YA thriller - a relatively short read that's packed with such a punch, readers will be thinking about it long afterward.
Wow! Now this was the fun read, ahh not exactly the FUN READ! but yeah a mysteriously fun read. I literally got hooked to this books.
The story was filled with many sudden twists and turns and they were so sudden that I never expected them to come. The story have a killer involved in it though I suspected him in middle of the book and YEAH! the killer was the same character I had expected but hey! no I really didn't stick to my suspected character because at every step I was forced to believe nah! he/she can't be the killer it just can't possible, author make you question every thing, now that's the thrill.
I really liked the Bobby's little romance with Gabe it was pure, Bobby's friendship with Coco and his love for his pet dog Pete. Bobby is really a fighter, it is commendable that how he fought with all the situation he faced like he was becoming blind, it is a really big thing that you would really can't see anything after a week or so and a killer is ready to slit your throat any moment, I really appreciate him.
I highly recommend this book I'm sure you will not regret reading it.
I absolutely loved this book. It's chilling enough that I would have liked to only read it during the day but it was one of those "I can't put it down" books so I ended up reading into the night just to finish it. And then spent the next several weeks looking over my shoulder. The characters are the kind that stay with you long after you've finished the book, and not just the main character, but the side characters as well. Bobby's visions are truly horrifying, as are the consequences of those visions. The story kept me hooked and guessing and sad that the story ended (I'm hoping for a sequel!!). If you like murder and mystery and an amazing male main character, you definitely need to read this one. I highly recommend!
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
Wow!!! This book is awesome!!
Bobby, the main character, is definitely a character to respect. He has so many good qualities and doesn't really recognize them himself. It's because of this, that he is my favorite character in this book.
I knew something was up with one of the characters but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then, BAM, a major twist I was not expecting at all. I LOVE when that happens.
This book was paced well and kept my attention throughout. I loved Lisa's writing in BREAKING GLASS, and love it in VISIONS.
This was a crazy twisted intense story! There were times I couldn't put it down and other times I had to for sanity's sake. Bobby is a tough stubborn boy with a hard home life. He has his plans in place until crap starts happening and throws him into a twisted web of murder and lies. This book left me guessing until the very end when BAM! and you are left picking your jaw off the floor. I am excited that there will be more since one of the twists set this up perfectly for more chaos to come.
Whoa. Just whoa. Vision by Lisa Amowitz is one of those types of books which gets under your skin. Know what I mean? The author takes an everyday kind of teen guy and bam! He's living his life and then something happens and then something else and the reader gets wrapped up in everything and forgets that this is a story. Sneaky, yes, but I have to say I was riveted by the suspense, intrigued by the storyline, and I loved the writing.
As a resident of the Hudson Valley, I'm always stoked when books are set in New York. Just knowing that main character Bobby Pendell was fishing at a lake with the Catskills mountains as a backdrop made me smile and then, bam! Something weird happens to Bobby while he's fishing on his boat. The opening scene alone made me stay up late that night, watchful of moving shadows across the walls. His weird new 'visons' and the way his eyes change until he is practically blind resonated with me. As these 'attacks' continue and the serial killer continues his/her spree, Bobby gets sucked in more and more (and so did I).
Vision is simply great storytelling. The cast, from Bobby, a realistic young man living along the poverty level with his Iraq veteran and wheelchair-bound father and adorable younger brother, Aaron, to the cute and outspoken new girl, Gabe Friendly (gotta love these names), was stellar. It was refreshing to read a YA thriller/horror from a guy's pov. Bobby is not some fortunate, spoiled kid. His mom gave up on them and left, leaving her oldest son to take her place as caregiver to his dad and brother as well as working to make a buck, going to school, and surviving.
And did I mention the serial killer? Yep, that kept me awake longer than it should have. What was very cool were the twists in the story. When I thought the story would go one way, nope, it went another. Kudos to Ms. Amowitz for keeping even experienced mystery solvers at bay. I will also give the author more kudos for sharing Bobby with us. Gosh, I became this guy's champion. From the gentle way he approached his songwriting to the way he fought his body's reactions to seeing Gabe the first time, and definitely the way he berates himself when his dad is being mean, this kid reminded me of people I know. Bobby (and his brother) are sympathetic but they don't want the reader to feel that way. Pride will do that to a person. The relationships, the friendships, the emotions, the mystery, and yes, the twist and reveals in Vision kept me reading late into the night. I even forgot I was reading.
Thank you, Lisa Amowitz, for making readers everywhere stay up to read your latest novel. Vision is a definite keeper, an unforgettable story by a talented author. I'm thrilled that this is the first book in the Finder series. Next time I think I'll begin reading earlier in the day! Blog tour: http://www.readergirlsblog.com/2014/0...
I’ve seen a few reviews that, although very positive, specifically mention that the reviewers found the beginning of this book to be rather slow. I didn’t feel that way at all; indeed, those first pages are crammed with information without being the dreaded info dump. Through Ms. Amowitz’s skillful prose, we learn that Bobby is conflicted, more so than most boys his age. He has to be the responsible member of the family and while he loves his father, he resents having to be the adult. He’d like to get out but he’s much too loyal to his young brother to leave him behind and so, he’ll soldier on. For relief, Bobby loves music and he is never as peaceful as when he’s fishing. Then, a very strange thing happens to him and he has a blinding headache and what he can only assume is a terrible hallucination. The pain and fear and near blindness make him wonder if he can even make it home.
All that in the first four or five pages!
Are the horrendous scenes Bobby is seeing some sort of psychic visions or entirely his imagination? Or are they, perhaps, something far worse, something he won’t be able to bear? People he cares about are in critical danger if he’s not crazy but, just when he thinks he’s figured it out, a woman named Maura Reston comes into his life with an amazing story to tell and an offer he might not be able to refuse. First, though, he’s in for an even bigger shock that could turn his whole life on end.
Bobby is an appealing young man, one who drew my attention from the very beginning. He is at turns frightened, falling in love, loyal, angry, confused, happy, depressed, all the things you would expect to find in a seventeen-year-old boy and so much more that he shouldn’t have to be. At one moment, he’s sure he has no future and, at the next, he’s soaring on the wings of hope. Bobby will linger in my thoughts for quite a while.
A number of the other people in Bobby’s life stand out for a variety of reasons, especially his dad, a man who has been beaten down to nothing, and Coco, a true example of what a best friend can be. Gabe seemed a bit unrealistic but is still engaging and Pete…well, Pete is the dog everybody should have. Really, all the characters in Vision are interesting and well-rounded and are a testament to Ms. Amowitz’s writing ability.
The author also knows how to create and carry out a solid plot. I had an inkling early on as to who the killer might be and, as it turned out, I was right, but that didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the story because there was still a lot to find out. Ms. Amowitz kept the tension high till the final pages and that’s what I expect in a good thriller.
I’m not sure whether Ms. Amowitz intends to continue Bobby’s story but I certainly hope she will—I want to know what will happen next to him and all the folks in his life ;-)
I received an ARC of Visions for an honest review.
Author Lisa Amowitz definitely just took me on the ride of a life time. Never before have I read a story so full of mystery, magic, and beauty before.
Bobby’s life wasn’t perfect. He worked, cooked, cleaned, went to school and took care of his crippled father and younger brother. He had friends and life wasn’t too bad. He knew his life wasn’t going anymore fast and he never expected much out of life. Then everything changed the day he met Gabe. She was everything he could ever want and never have. Working for her father he can’t afford to lose his job. Except life became a whole lot more complicated because Bobby is having visions of people dying and the victims are becoming closer to him. Everything along with these visions is making his life more and more complicated because with each passing vision he begins to lose his sight. Now Bobby must find the killer with no sight before the next victim is Gabe.
Bobby was an amazing character. He cares about the people around him and always does whatever he can to help them. He did have issues with accepting help; viewing it as charity rather than people actually caring about him but I enjoyed his character. He was sweet and so cute when dealing with Gabe. He always tried to take care of her and I loved their encounters after they first met. Bobby was definitely shy and I loved how Gabe teased him often. Another aspect about Bobby I really enjoyed was how he never gave up. He remained strong and while not completely optimistic he never gave up trying to save those he cared about even at the expense of himself.
Visions was definitely an original book. This novel was definitely unique in plot, characters, and the entire story line. Nothing ever seemed to go the way I predicted. The murderer was definitely not who I expected in the least. I wasn’t sure if Gabe and Bobby were going to work out or if the father would approve. Everything was as cloudy as Bobby’s vision became.
Visions left off on a bit of a cliffhanger which honestly fit this fantastic story rather well. I am so happy I got to read this story. I wasn’t sure what to think when I got my copy and I wasn’t sure I would like how it wasn’t written in third person. I usually don’t take to those types of stories written in that sort of fashion. However, I really took to this story. I couldn’t put it down for a minute and honestly read it in one sitting.
Overall, I really enjoyed Visions and would highly recommend it. The mystery kept me guessing. The romance was sweet and helped character development and the story line was unique and unpredictable. Really enjoyed this and am definitely excited to continue reading more of Lisa Amowitz’s crafty writing.
Vision was a pretty interesting read. It wasn’t something I expected even after reading the synopsis. It was more than a boy was a strange psychic power. The book was that but It was also about a boy trying to be a man while losing his sight and seeing horrifying images of dead victims.
Bobby Pendell has been taking care of his family for a few years. He is the only person that works while trying to get through school so that he can work more. One day the migraines start and those migraines lead to images of a women. Being chased, kidnapped, murdered. He thinks he’s going crazy. Until it keeps happening and the images get worse and so does his sight.
Bobby really has this whole “gift” thrown at him in the worst possible way. I cannot imagine seeing the things he sees in this book and not go insane. I really liked that Coco believed him. That’s what best friends are for and he was the best friend until the end.
Bobby also has the added complication of Gabe. His boss’s daughter. Someone he can’t stop thinking about and seems to want to pursue him. I really liked Gabe. She didn’t let Bobby get away with his self-pity and his need to protect himself. She kept showing up and eventually made her way into his heart. Even though the romance was a part of it, it didn’t seem to take priority. The romance moved pretty fast without getting many scenes with them together.
There are many twists and turns in this book that make you guess who the killer is and then second or even third guess yourself until Lisa Amowitz finally gives us an answer. I don’t know how many times I changed my mind throughout this book. Vision was an enjoyable read. The writing was done well and the pacing flowed well. The action started in the first chapter. There is no waiting for anything to happen. Lisa sucks you in and keeps you there.
What an amazing story I couldn't get enough! once again Lisa plasters us to our seats with this thrilling tale about a boy who sees Visions of grisly deaths and searches for a killer only he can "see".
I have always been a BIG fan of Lisa's work and I have to say stories like this is why. Lisa's talent shines through in this incredible tale. I laughed, I cried and don't tell anyone but I might of screamed out loud a little here and there...lol....it had all the greatest elements of an amazing Thriller movie where you hide behind your pillow to avoid the scary parts, of course with a book it is harder to do that as when you close your eyes the story cuts out..lol...I got threw it though and so did my pillow. ;)
The characters where amazing and the storyline superb! the villain in the story was incredible and Lisa couldn't have done a better job! I thought I knew what was going on right up til the end when it totally blew me out of the water who the killer was! so way to go Lisa! I always get the ending before hand, Never could I have imagined a plot as twisted and unique so congrats!
My fav character was Coco. He was a unique and interesting character. Loyal, funny and the best friend you could count on. Bobby of course was the greatest in the book, the ultimate hero, of course he wouldn't say so as he is way to humble for that but he did save the day. I would love to see a sequel to this Lisa!
if you haven't read this amazing story do so now! Lisa's talent will amaze you! it comes out today so get your copies now!
It grabbed me right away with the synopsis: how creepy does that sound? You get these horrible headaches and, as a fun bonus, you temporarily go blind AND see these horrific things? So you know you're either going crazy or something literally insane is going on.
And then---THEN---as a bonus, his visions start happening. But you can't really talk about it because if you do, you get locked up---either in jail or in an asylum.
I immediately liked Bobby and was very nervous for him. (I mean, what if the killer can sense him, too?) And I loved his friends (potential love interest Gabe and his best friend Coco) and his little brother, Aaron. Even before this, Bobby had to deal with things teens shouldn't have to, and he handled his responsibilities like a grownup.
But best of all, this book is actually creepier than the synopsis would have you believe. It's absolutely perfect for Halloween. I was in the mood for scary and this book more than delivered.
Well, no. Best of all is that there's the possibility of a sequel. (Yes, please.)
Definitely didn't think I was going to rate this book so highly at first (I could see the cliches coming from a mile away, and my vision isn't exactly what you would call acute or keen either. ;)) I also was able to predict a few of the so-called plot twists, but Amowitz's prose kept me on the edge of my seat. Her writing is gripping, that's for sure. Her depictions are also quite vivid, and many of the scenes she portrays are so picturesque--things that definitely helped this rating. In the end, this is a pretty well-written thriller, even if the gags are a bit predictable and pedestrian.
First, I would like to thank the author Lisa Amowitz for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading this book. The story-line is great, it has twists that make this story even better. The world building is nicely done. The characters are well developed and written. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Bobby is a high school student who is the only support for his disabled father and his little brother. He works every night. A new girl arrives in town and he discovers she is his boss's daughter. No, he can't get involved, he needs his job, but the attraction to each other is intense. But life interferes as he is struck with blinding migraines and visions of murders, some even before they happen. This is a story that grabs you and you can't read it fast enough.
This book took a little while to gain my interest. I didn’t feel any connection with Bobby, but the author kept him closed off I think to add to the mystery. Bobby is seeing things. Is is because he actually did these things himself, or some new psychic ability?
About 90 pages in I found myself with a growing interest as a potential romantic element came on stronger. However, I was still never fully entranced because I never cared enough about the people involved with them so closed off for the mystery end. Personally I tend to get more sucked in when an author makes me care about the people before or while casting doubts about them.
I enjoyed the overall plot. It was a unique storyline to me. I did enjoy guessing the “who done it.” I was right on one aspect but I was still completely shocked on another end. Lisa gives you everything to figure it out, but it’s still not something that you guess. So, I thought that was brilliant.
I enjoyed the overall story. The characters just fell a little flat for me. I recommend this to all of you that enjoy a good mystery, especially if making a connection to the characters isn’t something you look for, and I know some of you with the more analytical minds like my oldest son are built this way. Hmmm, I’ll have to pass this along to him and see what he thinks.
3.5 stars. I liked the writing well enough, but the mystery could have used some foreshadowing. It was revealed, and I was like "oh". I like to look back and think "Oh yeah! How did I miss that?" or "Wow, I did not see that comng!", but this was missing that element. I didn't care or feel anything when it was revealed, nor did I find the killer and that part of the storyline to be plausible.
It appears that this is going to be a series although, at this time, it isn't noted in the book title or description. I would have liked to have known that ahead of time.
I probably won't continue this series, but I'd read something else by this author.
Another great one from Lisa Amowitz! Again with the same tense atmosphere and writing I've come to expect from her. And of course also another set of great characters. I honestly don't have much to say about this one though. It was a very fast-paced book and a fast read. It kept me on the edge of my seat and threw some curveballs at me I didn't see coming. I did have a bit of trouble getting into it at first, though I don't know why and as soon as I was a couple of chapters in, I was completely sucked in. There's an open ending suggesting a sequel, which I would very much enjoy!
Protagonist: Bobby Pendell is the self-deprecating, proud, and good natured protagonist of this story. Honestly, for the most part I thought Bobby was an incredible character, he's down to earth, but with the types of flaws to make the story all the more interesting, however his character development felt like it got lost in the mix. It's like I know it's there and I could sort of feel it a little bit while I was reading, but it wasn't as prevalent as it should be for a character like him.
Romance: So Bobby's love interest Gabe, short for Gabriella, was actually a really cool girl, and could definitely fit in with my very exclusive group of book crushes, however Bobby's feelings for her came on so intense so fast that it was hard to read how he felt about her after only spending an hour or two with her, tops. However, over the course of the book their romance reached a point where, although a tad idealistic, felt natural and ends up in a good place.
World-Building: So I went into this thinking that this book dealt with a paranormal ability that a teen uses to solve a murder, and while that's the case, sort of, this book reads a lot more like a contemporary murder mystery. Bobby's ability isn't as magical as it seems and while I have no problem with that, even thinking that the medical terminology the author uses sounds pretty cool, but the attempt to make it seem more realistic made the story, as weird as this is going to sound, less believable. In terms of pacing and writing, the pacing is a bit slow in the beginning and, while I'm not sure if it was from my feelings towards this book or the fact that I've been reading back to back books recently, I nearly put this book down for a while, but once I pushed through I was glad I did as it picks up pretty quickly about a quarter of the way through.
Predictability: Okay guys, I seriously felt at multiple points in this book that this author was just messing with my head. Which is pretty true. Near the beginning of the book I thought I had figured out the identity of the murderer terrorizing this small town but it was really more an inkling than an actual theory, and then as the story went on it made more and more sense, then I thought I was proven wrong, then right but in a different way than I had originally imagined, then my brain was fried with what the actual outcome was. With all of the little theories I had come up with, this one was well, this one was, I can't even explain how crazy and unexpected this twist was.
Ending: So if I knew nothing about this book, specifically that at the moment I'm writing this Goodreads defines this book as a stand-alone, I would have believed that this was only the first book in a series, and maybe it is, I'm not sure, but if it is a stand-alone I'm a bit frustrated with how this story ends. While the main storyline is wrapped up and there is a bit of an epilogue chapter to really wrap some things up, it instead lead to what I will refer to for now as a "near cliffhanger" where I'm pretty sure I know what'll happen, but the sliver of doubt in my mind will probably eat at me for a while.
Rating:
For the most part I loved this book, it's dark and mysterious, and even the bumpy romance is smoothed out by the end of the book, but the ending and my weird feeling about Bobby's character development are the only things that truly gave me pause. I'd recommend this book to fans of murder mysteries paranormal books with a realistic edge to them.
I received this book as part of Rockstar Book Tours Blog Tour.
Lisa has an amazing writing style that truly allows you to get inside the head of her characters. I have to say that I liked this book a little bit more than Breaking Glass. The characters are fantastic and so well fleshed out it’s not like reading about people who are made up at all. Bobby’s father is a veteran of the war in Iraq and was severely injured in combat, his mother has left (evidently unable to deal with his father’s disability), and now he’s left to care and provide his father, his younger brother, and himself. He’s a boy who has had to grow up way too fast. The job he does is admirable and you can’t help but feel for him and want him to succeed in everything. He has tried to keep things as normal as possible for his younger brother. Everything about the character interactions is believable and really sucks you.
For the most part this is a mystery/suspense, but Bobby develops blinding headaches, literally he goes blind, and during these episodes he begins to sense and “see” things on a psychic level. The only part that I guess I could say I was uninterested in, was the intervention of a “government agency” to recruit him because of his newfound ability. But there is a serial killer on the lose in his hometown and because of his new abilities he is able to track the killer and he’s desperately trying to stop the killings.
The plot just gets better and better with every page. There was a point where I was certain that I had it all figured out. I knew who the killer was and I was sad… because I didn’t want this book to be predictable. And just when I was ready to yell at my Kindle… Lisa throws a plot twist in there that makes me scratch my head. I did not see it coming, but it was fantastic. The ending wraps everything up for this book, but leaves just enough out there to lead into the next book in the series and I can’t wait!
The characters are great, the pacing is great, the plot is superb… overall, this is an amazing read!
Once you start reading this, you won't be able to put it down!
Bobby is a normal teenager - except he has to be the caretaker for the family. His father is unable to take on that role, so Bobby works a job and goes fishing to help feed the family.
Bobby's life continues this way until he sees a boy in the bottom of the lake while fishing one day. Then the headaches and blinding red that blocks his vision start. Then he hears and sees what appears to be a murder. Then his vision returns to normal. So Bobby wonders - is he losing his mind?
This pattern continues until Bobby becomes a suspect in a young girl's murder. Then he's in the fight of his life - and for his life. But who is murdering young girls? Bobby needs to find out!
The end holds a surprise that you will never see coming.
It seems Lisa Amowitz has done it again. Or maybe not. Her debut novel was good and received great reviews. Her Bachelor submission just isn’t quite made of the same material…it’s better.
Well written, with an incredible plot that keeps you dizzy from constant, and sudden, twists and turns, this book will appeal to all the mystery lovers out there.
The area Amowitz excels in, is writing strong, charismatic characters. And the main lead in “Vision,” Bobby, is no different. His character makes the book, in my opinion. And I love that it’s written from a male perspective.
Bottom line: another terrific offering from Lisa Amowitz. If you haven’t read her work, pick it up now. I highly recommend it!
Lisa Amowitz continues to amaze me. I love her vision (pun intended) for this book. The idea of visions from migraines, or halluciations is fascinating. Bobby is a great character. So well developed and relatable. I felt his emotions and the stress he was under throughout the story. Amowitz included many twists and turns I wasn't expecting. I cannot wait to see what she has in the future.
Life has a way to kick you when you are down. What is your choice going to be - do you stand up and fight or hide away and hope for it o go away? Fast paced and well written. This book, despite the short length of it, manages to fit in a well developed plot and characters you can't help but feel for.
Wow!! Did NOT see that coming!!! Total curve ball! I was in suspense the whole entire time. Non stop excitement. I loved Coco's personality. He made me LOL throughout the book.
I'm baffled by all the good reviews. I figured out who the killer was pretty early on. Lots of foul language. I didn't really care for the characters. I definitely can't recommend this book.
