The Three Motives for Murder

Rate this book
The small town of Coalmont, Tennessee is shattered when a car crash on graduation night leaves three of its teenagers dead and another three fighting for their lives. Four years later, the aftershocks still ripple through the town, and no one feels them more than Natasha Hawthorne, the young driver. When someone targets the survivors of the horrific crash for murder, the obvious motive is revenge. But things aren’t always what they seem, and the notion of revenge served cold doesn’t ring true with Brady Simms, newly appointed police chief. To make things even more difficult, Brady ultimately finds himself standing squarely between the killer and his next victim, the woman who broke his heart four years ago. As the killer escalates his attacks, Brady’s only hope of saving the intended victims is to get into the mind of a sociopath. When the relative of the first victim makes a startling revelation, Brady reopens the investigation and what he finds will change all of their lives forever.

Three Motives For Murder was one that I could not put down. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, from beginning to end. Michelle Perry certainly knows how to keep a reader's interest.

The book wasn't bad but it had too many unbelievable events to make it more than two stars. For instance, the characters are in a burning building with people getting burns and a person passes out inside from smoke and needs to be rescued with cpr. But yet, not one person had throat or lung problems at any time after the fire. Another is the author did her homework about speed determination and tire marks for a car accident but not on the model car itself. There were too many inconsistencies.

This book works about about the same level as a television mystery, but a good episode of Magnum or Murder She Wrote is still worth it. The story is primarily plot driven with mostly likable and well drawn characters. It is more black and white than shades of grey, but still is worth the time reading and is worth your time. I certainly found myself rooting for Brady and Nat.

Brady Simms & Natasha Howthorne
He's loved her his whole life. She was in a car accident at age 17 - 4 years ago that killed 3 teenagers, permanently injured 2 more and Nat spent 2 years in juvenile detention. Brady thinks the sheriff is in on it.

I got this book when it was free on my kindle and it was actually surprisingly good. The main characters are likeable. It is more romance with a bit of crime thrown in but I like that. All in all enjoyable.

Started out promising but the mystery got sidelined by the love story and found the ending quite unsatisfactory. Also felt that the really long sex scene was rather unnecessary...a page or two maybe, but about twenty pages? excessive!

Predictable and a little over the top but I enjoyed the characters, fast paced action and overall plot.

The past has come back to haunt the survivors of a car crash on graduation night. Everyone thinks they know what happened, but things aren't always as they seem.
