Zuri Day is a hopeful romantic. She believes in happy endings, half-full glasses and dreams coming true. That's why she's thrilled to be a contributing writer to this genre...one of her favorites!
Zuri doesn't remember exactly how old she was when she picked up her first romance novel, but she does remember it was love at first sight. "It was probably a Harlequin," she recalled during a recent interview. "And it thankfully took me away from a fairly dull and routine existence growing up in a small Kansas town."
Things aren't dull and routine anymore. Zuri now resides in Los Angeles with her family and when she isn't writing loves to travel the world, cook vegetarian food, work out, watch sports, attend concerts and theatre and enjoy the simple things in life.
"Many people have given up on love, much less romance," Zuri says. "I'm hoping that somehow, through the love-filled pages of my romance novels, I can ignite the reader's desire to believe again. Because everything is possible, when we believe..."
This is a great story and apparently I read out of order LOLLL!!! I have to purchase Book 1 and Book 3 of this series.
Dr. Gregory Morgan is an ER Doctor who is also one of the top 3 finalists to head up a new medical center. All is going well for him, he loves his family and his career but what is missing is the one special woman. Dr. Gregory Morgan is not a player like how his older brother was (He is married now and his story is Book 1) nor is he a player like his younger brother, who is much worse than his older brother (His story is Book 3). Dr. Morgan does well with the ladies but his work schedule plus his determination to be the winning recipient to lead the new medical facility doesn't really leave time for him. After coming off of his midnight shift and driving home, he sees a woman and her dog walking, interest piqued, he tries to get her attention, she says a quick hello and runs off.
Anise Cartier, an artist from Omaha Nebraska has been accepted into an internship at a prestigious art institute. After her mother's death, the move to LA is exactly what she needs to start her life anew. Anise moves in with her rambunctious aunt Aretha (who is hilarious), she is extremely excited about being in LA and settling into her internship at the Art institute, so dating is not on her agenda. Finding a place for her and her dog Boomer, a job and settling her mother's estate is the only thing she is focusing on besides her art. So when that sexy brother pulls up beside her and says hello, her instinct was to turn and run and that is exactly what she did.
Dr. Morgan finds himself thinking about the sexy woman that he saw walking her dog, so imagine his surprise when he realizes that she is his next door neighbor. Their friendship begins to move into the lover zone pretty quickly but what I love about Anise is that she was free with her sexuality, she was unapologetic about it and Dr. Morgan was free with his as well, so their chemistry is off the charts. For me what made the story more interesting was watching it develop, they had issues and a really big one too, so you got to see how they navigated and dealt with it.
The ups and down of their relationship was realistic which is really great because sometimes authors, gloss over issues that happen in a relationship, therefore making it unrealistic. I definitely appreciated this author for having the hindsight to bring it to life.
This was a great story and I do look forward to reading about the other brothers as well. So this definitely will not be my last time purchasing books by this author.
stumbled across this audiobook series The Morgan Men and book 2 did not disappoint. Gregory and Annise’s dreams and career goals could put out the fire in their attraction. The narrator does a good job with telling the story. I like how the plot developed.
I struggled with this first book that I've read by this author.
I never got why the two main characters fall in love. It seems their relationship is more about the sex than anything. Yes, I get that Gregory is a gorgeous, handsome doctor and Anise is a beautiful, talented artist, but what is the real attraction there beyond the good looks?
Gregory falls for Anise almost immediately after seeing her jogging down the street. Despite the fact that she snubs him during this initial meeting, it only takes one pep talk from her aunt about having a little fun to propel her into his bed. The sex scenes are mediocre, which is disappointing because there are quite a few.
Anise just didn't impress me. She's flighty and naive. Whenever she thinks about missing Greg, it's usually because of the "good sex" she's missing out on. Greg, on the other hand, comes across as intelligent and caring and the kind of strong man that Anise needs in her life, but I never really see this develop.
Overall, it's a decent, light read but definitely not one of those books that I couldn't put down. I do feel the author has potential so this will not be the last book I read of hers.
This book is basically good sex scenes mixed in with kinda annoying people falling in love and getting engaged at the end of the story; everything I'm looking for in a contemporary romance.
One sexy Morgan man may have finally met his match in a talented and beautiful young widow. But will their ambitions come between them? When (artist) Anise Cartier leaves Nebraska for L.A., she's finally ready to put the past and its losses behind her. And she soon finds a welcoming committee in the form of one very handsome (doctor), Gregory Morgan. Their attraction is instant. So is their animosity. Gregory is in a fierce competition for a multimillion-dollar medical research grant. The grant will make a new research center possible. . .once the beloved artist community where Anise plans to set up shop is demolished. I just cannot get with this author. I have listened to 3 of her audiobooks (narrators were terrible) and I feel like they have potential to be good but they just lack in several areas. The three that I have read were pretty much the same storyline and it was not much excitement. The author throws way too many "predictions" in her books. I don't think I will be listening to anymore of these books.
Zuri Day has done it again! She has written another Great Story! For a moment there, I thought that Gregory and Anise were not going to make it! With all the chaos going on, they were able to hang on to the Love they had for each other. I guess it's true the heart knows what it wants! I know everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I will definitely recommend this book to others!
This was an amazing story in the Morgan Men trilogy. The character's in Zuri Day's books have great chemistry and passion for each other. They give me hope that I will find my own Morgan man. I look forward to finishing the Trilogy.
Good story and imagery. The story was predictable, loving family but, unpredictable as to characters that posed a threat to the doctor's character. Refreshing female character that was not phony or pretentious. My favorite character was "aunt ree", she was a character.
My first time reading anything by Zuri Day I loved it wish I could have given it more than 5 stars well written one of my new favorite Authors I just discovered
Anise couldn't help but place her arms around Gregory's neck and give him a heartfelt hug.
"Thank you"
Not how perfectly she fit in his arms, Gregory held himself in check long enough to ask, "For what?"
"For tonight." She stepped out of his embrace so that she could look into his eyes. "I haven't felt this carefree in a while and I really appreciate your taking me out." She looked at his bedroom eyes, his juicy lips, and the slight dimple begging to be touched. "There's something I'd really like to do with you."
There was fleeting thought of what Mrs. Williams might think about her niece returning home in the early morning hours, or even the next day, but looking at the desire in Anise's eyes, Gregory knew that he'd have to take his chances and let the chips fall where they may. Pulling her back into his arms, he nuzzled her neck and murmured, "What would you like to do with me?"

Dr Morgan is having a little fun while he awaits the biggest project of his life. . . it may be more than he can even dream it would be. . . its a slow go on reading this one. .. I guess I am just not that into it. . .
It took me months to finish a read that should have taken me a matter of less that six hours. It took too long for things to pick up and stay up but once it was all said and done. I enjoyed my read.
Dr Morgan and artist Anise hit things off great once they got together. They both have a dream that is centered around the same location. Day brings it together but that good boy/man or gentleman reputation takes a little away from the story.
Forgot I had this on pre-order and almost refunded it, boy would I have been so wrong. These Morgan men are no joke and Ms. Day has constructed a set of characters you'd want to revisit time and again. This is Dr. Gregory Morgan gets dissed by his new neighbor but remains intrigued and unfazed. The romance between artist Anise and Gregoryis almost too easy until his playa ways catch up to him. Not a whole lot of drama here but enough to fuel the story and have me read the book it one sitting.
That fine doctor Gregroy Morgan finally enters his neighbors home to lust after her neice Anise Carter. Opposites attract from the beginning. Who would not date a doctor just for the potential and when the doctor comes with a six pack from a great family is a extra bonus. Will a multi-million dollar medical research come in between Anise's artistic desires?
This book was a bit too long to get the message across however it was an enjoyable read.
Michael the middle brother and the most sensitive one and he and Anise are a very sexy couple I felt like when they met it was a easy relationship . What do you do when your dream makes you compete with someone yo care for deeply ? You fight , you love and you find a way to support each other. Good story the Morgan men are good light reading and I really enjoyed Michael's story.
This is the second book in this series. Greg is a doctor and he meets Anise when she is jogging down the street. The chemistry is immediate between them. Soon a fling turns into much more between them. Their relationship hits some snags but they both have to decide what is more important. I loved this book and I am looking forward to reading Troy's story.
3.5 . I liked it. I do agree with another reviewer who thought that their only attraction was sexual. The challenge that presented the characters was a bit on the weak side and it seemed silly but on another hand it was good and helped to develop the characters mainly Anise. I don't think Gregory evolved... He was perfect the entire time. Good beach read
Great story with Gregory and Anise. Gregory was smitten from the first meeting while she was taking her morning run. Then another meeting and they are neighbors. Great story line and cannot wait for Troy's story.
