Ruth Glick (born 1942) is a best-selling author of healthy cookbooks and has also written dozens of romantic suspense romance novels under the pen name Rebecca York.

Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..

Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Many of her novels are published under the Harlequin Intrigue line, and in June 2003, she became one of the first authors published under Berkley's new Sensation imprint. Before 1997, she often collaborated with Eileen Buckholtz and Kathryn Jenson.

Glick also is a highly regarded author of cookbooks focusing on healthy eating. She sometimes hires trained chefs to test the recipes that she creates, and makes sure that every recipe is tested at least three times before it appears in one of her cookbooks.

Glick is the head of the Columbia Writers Workshop. She and her husband, Norman Glick, live in Columbia, Maryland, where Ruth collects rocks, and enjoys cooking, walking, reading, gardening, travel, and Mozart operas. They have two grown children, Elissa and Ethan, and two grandsons (Jesse and Leo).

****½ "Bond of Silver" by Rebecca York is about Alexander and Claire. Alexander is from Atlantis. When he dreams to find his soul mate, he meets Claire... who not only lives "out in the world," but is the daughter of Bendon, his adopted father. Making things worse is the fact that Claire's mother blames Bendon for abandoning her.

But Alexander has no choice--soul mate bonds keep Atlantis's force field strong. So he decides to keep his identity secret at first.

Well, we all know that's Not A Good Idea. But in spite of that, this is a rich story for such a short one, including emotional growth, lessons learned, and even a secondary romance.

There aren't too many details about Atlantis--just enough to make the story make sense. I hope this isn't the last we'll see of it, though--there's plenty to be explored.

****½ "Red Skies at Night" by Diane Whiteside is about Travis and Gillian. NYPD Lieutenant Travis is looking for the killer of his former partner, and the trail leads him to Gillian, who's an art thief... and a vampire.

Which doesn't shock Travis as much as it might have, because Travis's family has long served Don Rafael Perez, the head vampire in Texas.

They end up on the run and in danger, and there's plenty of excitement and steam. It's unusual for the heroine to be the vampire and the hero to be human, but it works here.

This is part of Diane Whiteside's Texas Vampires series, still one of the more unique vampire series out there, and I thoroughly enjoy it... even if it does make me homesick.

***** "Come Moonrise" by Lucy Monroe is about Ty and Frankie. They're both veterinarians and have been best friends for years. Frankie has been living in another city, but has come to the realization that her feelings for Ty have kept her from pursuing other relationships, so she comes back home with the intention of learning if there's any chance for the two of them or if she needs to let go once and for all.

What Frankie doesn't know is that Ty is a werewolf. Not only that, but they tend to avoid human mates, because even if the human mate leaves or gets a divorce, the werewolf mates for life. Not only that, but Ty is poised to marry a French werewolf. And, oh yeah, it's almost the full moon.

This story really took me by surprise. It's my favorite kind of romance--when friendship turns to romance--and then add the paranormal element, and Ty trying to do the right thing for himself, Frankie, and his clan, and it's just a fabulous romance.

There don't seem to be any upcoming stories about these werewolves, but the world and the secondary characters are just too rich for just one story. I really hope we'll see them again.

*** "Beyond Limits" by Susan Kearney is about Ian and Samantha. Or rather, Ari and Samantha. Samantha is a real estate tycoon, and Ian is her employee--the pilot of her private plane. At least that's who she thinks he is. In reality, he's Ari, an Atlantean, who's shape-shifted to look like Ian in order to get close to Samantha, his soul mate.

Samantha's taken aback when the usually reserved Ian starts flirting with her, and it doesn't take long for him to whisk her off to a private island, where he has to convince her that a) she's his soul mate, b) she's also an Atlantean, and c) she, too, can shapeshift.

The plot and the premise for this story are clever and interesting, but it felt distant to me. I didn't really get to know either character well enough to care what happened to them. They could have been any two people put into this situation--there was nothing that made them individuals.

If you're the type of reader who puts yourself into the plot, I think this story would work marvellously for you. I'm just not that type of reader.

Bond of Silver - Rebecca York - 3 /5 - This is a pretty unique little story. It drops you right into the universe, so it’s a bit confusing at first as you try to grapple with where and when this is happening, but it settles in. Alexander is from New Atlantis, a population of psychic people who find their soul mates by having a bonding dream. This is how he finds Claire, but there’s a hitch because her mother was bonded to Alexander’s adoptive father (who is actually Claire’s father) and rejected him, but now is overprotective of Claire, fearing that she’ll lose her. So Alexander has to deal with an overprotective Mommy issues while also convincing Claire that they’re soul mates and she should leave her home forever to live with him. And while I liked this story, this did go super fast (the dream thing helped though) and I never really felt like Alexander felt any sympathy for Claire’s plight...I mean he basically asks her to leave everything she knows after knowing him for a minute and doesn’t really feel her struggle. It’s all about what Alexander wants and trying to convince her that she’ll be better in New Atlantis with him. Also, Mom had some serious issues with abandonment and holding her daughter back because of her own fears and I don’t feel like there was any resolution to her dealing with that. This might have been better as a longer story.

Red Skies at Night - Diane Whiteside - 3 /5 - This is an adventure into Whiteside’s Texas Vampire series...where we have all the terminology in Spanish...so vampiros instead of vampires. Travis is a NY cop whose former partner is killed pretty brutally by a vampiro because of a case he’s working on involving mob boss Morelli. Travis is determined to get revenge and when he finds that a notorious art thief, Gillian has evidence that could put Morelli down, he goes after her, not knowing that she is a vampira. Their attraction is off the charts and Travis doesn’t seem to mind that Gillian feeds from him. They go on the run together into a blizzard where close quarters lead to a closer relationship and they wait for Morelli to come to them, so they can finally destroy him. Overall pretty interesting, but not really my cup of tea. The characters are quite cynical and spend a majority of the book using one another towards their own ends. And Travis seems willing to do or be anything Gillian wants, rather than being his own person, so it kinda feels like he’s enthralled or something. There’s never any question or doubt about Gillian and her intentions....it seemed out of character for him. And of course, because this is a novella, they don’t really get to know one another either. I might be willing ot pick up another in this series, but I worry that this jaded cynicism would be there again. I can handle it in one MC, but both is a bit much for my tastes.

Come Moonrise - Lucy Monroe - 3.5 / 5- A modern day novella for Monroe’s Children of the Moon series, this involves Ty, the son of the chieftain in a local werewolf pack and his childhood friend, Frankie. She’s loved Ty since she was a teenager, but Ty, not wanting to mate with a human no matter how much he loved Frankie, rebuked her, but they’ve stayed friends. Frankie did her best to move on with her life, but hasn’t had much luck. She’s reach the point where she’s ready to move on completely and cut Ty out of her life, but she wants to make sure they’re completely through before she does. So she visits him, gets snow bound in a cabin with him and accidentally mates with him (and also learns he’s a werewolf). He’s furious with himself for doing what he swore he wouldn’t and in his anger lashes out at Frankie. But he’s loved her all this time and if he can have faith in her staying power, maybe they can have a future after all. A pretty dramatic and angsty story. Frankie experiences the whole emotional roller coaster as she deals with Ty’s cold treatment of her and then his passion and then his anger at finding himself mated and then his passion again when he realizes he loves her. That rollercoaster is very entertaining. But also very frustrating. I kinda feel like Frankie allowed herself to be treated like crap by her “best friend.” Ty says some pretty cruel things and actually seems to believe that Frankie trapped him and makes her feel guilty for basically forcing a wedding. He so didn’t grovel enough for that. For someone who supposedly hates hurting his best friend so much, he doled out a hole heaping plateful of hurt to her. Interestingly enough we have a virgin hero here, who is still an expert lover and who is totally put out by the fact that Frankie had a lover before him. She quite expertly turns that around and places the blame on him, since she only took that lover trying to get over him. Snap.

Beyond Limits - Susan Kearney - 1/ 5 - Okay, so this one is kind of a companion to Rebecca York’s story in that it takes place in the same universe. Ari is a shapeshifter and Samantha, a millionaire real estate developer, is his mate. He kidnaps her and takes her to a deserted island so he can teach her how to shapeshift so that they can be happy soulmates together and live forever together on New Atlantis. I had major issues with believability here. Samantha is a workaholic who got kidnapped by a shapeshifter (who pretended to be someone else) and then trapped her on an island causing her to miss a multimillion dollar deal. Was she angry? No, not really. She very quickly accepted the whole shapeshifting thing, learned how to be one and agreed to live on his island with him without getting to know him, without actually loving him and without ever thinking about the life, friends or family that she was leaving behind to live there. Not quite believable. And I had major problems with Ari too. He didn’t give one single fuck whether Samantha wanted to be with him or not. He seemed pretty selfish and kept harping back to the need to fresh blood on his island...like that was the only reason he was with her. It didn’t really feel like he loved her either. And the whole sex scene with the merging...made me a bit uncomfortable because I kept picturing them both turning to jelly while humping and melding together, which is totally not sexy. This one was pretty awful for me. I didn’t like the character, their reactions weren’t believable or all that loving and the sex was yicky.

Rebecca York "Bond of Silver"
A New Atlantean with psychic powers seeks soulmate with same mental proclivities first in a dream quest and then in real time. Finds said soulmate in northern California and tries to convince her he's not a kook. Charms Mom and heals a decades-old rift in the process. In another word, boring.

Diane Whiteside "Red Skies at Night"
A Texas Vampire story about a toughened NY detective and a vampire cat burglar who team up over a dead FBI agent's stolen notebook - they get holed up in a cabin in the middle of a storm, have steamy vampire sex, and beat the bad guys. Oh, and Don Rafael makes a two-sentence appearance.

Lucy Monroe "Come Moonrise"
The apparent favorite of the stories in this anthology, and mine as well, a story about unrequited childhood love that doesn't turn out to be so unrequited. Again, our heroes get caught in a cabin in the middle of a storm and have steamy sex, of the werewolf variety this time. Our heroine takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster as she moves from despair to elation and back again so quickly over the course of the story. Very emotionally satisfying, and this is definitely a new author I will look out for.

Susan Kearney "Beyond Limits"
I couldn't like this story any less if I tried. Maybe part of it has to do with the fact that many of the intro elements are duplicates of the first story in this anthology.
Guy is from hidden island called New Atlantis. Check.
Guy seeks soulmate by dreaming about her. Check.
Guy rescues said soulmate using his special abilities. Check.
Guy needs soulmate to add her abilities to keep force field up around island. Check. (Really!?!? Force fields?) Okay, check.
And then there was the whole shapeshifting thing. Don't get me wrong, I love Mystique from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, but when the steamy sex scene starts describing the merging of the two bodies into one, the mental images I get are the creepy crawly ones from The Fly with Jeff Goldbloom. And the slip of our now conjoined couple into the shape of a sea-turtle, complete with underwater scavaging of shrimp, moved the story into the realm of the absurd. Sorry, Kearney, but this one was way too over the top for me.

Come Moonrise - Lucy Monroe

I've never read a paranormal let alone a werewolf book but after reading Come Moonrise I realized what I've been missing or maybe it's that because Lucy Monroe is an auto-buy for me, I loved it! Loved it doesn't describe this decadent story. This book is part of UNLEASHED, a paranormal anthology and Lucy's first contemporary werewolf story. This book takes passion to a higher level and Ty and Frankie's journey to finding love and understanding.

I found this book to be interesting as the reader learns about werewolf's, fernwolfs, the "laws of the pack", and just what mating means to a wolf, that once they mate, they mate for life and marriage must occur.

Ty and Frankie have been friends since she was twelve. There is a scene when Frankie was younger at the fishing hole and is crying, missing her parents who had perished. A wolf comes to her and licks her tears away. The wolf reminds her of her bestfriend Ty and the love of her life. Frankie has loved Ty for years and returns home to put an end to this torture by trying to find out if they have a chance. She forces the issue, but due to pack laws Ty wants to be with one of his own and tries to push Frankie away. They get stranded, she forces the issue by seducing him and let me just say their passion is so strong and forceful it will just plain take your breath away. It's their journey to finding love and is one you will long remember. I congratulate Lucy Monroe as she has again written a very powerful story with Come Moonrise.

Book Description

Ty MacAnlup has seen the tragedy that a mating between a werewolf and a human can bring and he wants no part of it, no matter how much his body and heart ache for a taste of Frankie's softness. Frankie has loved Ty for years and while she doesn't know he's a werewolf, or even that such things exist...she does know that to her, he's always been more than a mere man. Ty's hidden beast wreaks havoc with his determination to stay away from Frankie when they are trapped together in a small cabin in the snow bound wilderness

This was an anthology of 4 authors I'd never read.
The first one was about a guy from New Atlantis who dreamt of his soul mate in a dream search and when he found her, he went to get her. Cute, liked it.
The 4th story was by a different author, but used the same New Atlantis concept and rules...very cool. Loved it.
The second story was a Texas Vampire story...I liked the writing, and the plot, but it was hard to get into at first, for a short story...those seem to be paced much quicker than this one. Once the action got going, though, it was great.
The third story gets 5 stars. It was Lucy Monroe's "Come Moonrise" and I loved it! I would keep the book only for this story. It was better than her full-length books! While this dealt with the same werewolf rules and world as her Scottish historicals, it was a contemporary story set in Montana, where Ty and Frankie have been best friends, but he's a werewolf and she's not. So he never lets her in on the big secret. But she's been in love with him since she was 15. She moved away after he told her there could never be anything but friendship between them, but for her it hurt too much to be near him like that. So she came back home for one last attempt to either seduce him, or make a clean break of it, when they get trapped in an awful snowstorm together. But the twist is that once they mate it's for life, and Frankie still doesn't know that Ty's a werewolf, so she seduces him, and after a long sleepless night of lovin' the next morning Ty tells her what he is, and what they've done but he seems mad at her. He feels she purposely trapped him into the mating...but she never knew those rules! So they fight, he leaves, comes back as a wolf, defends her from the pack leader, and the next morning they set their feelings straight. It's really a great story.

Anthology of four short stories. I got this book so I could read ‘Red Skies at Night’ by Diane Whiteside, part of her Texas Vampire series. But I’ll read and review the others.

1)‘Bond of Silver’ by Rebecca York. 4 stars. Started out a bit confusing, but once I got into it I couldn’t stop. The romance is so sweet, yet hot. Claire is a talented ceramic artist, while Alexander is an Atlantian architect and a perfect gentleman. Wish Ms. York had expanded it to a series. New Atlantis is so intriguing. Question though: what does silver have to do with anything? Fave scene: the cliffs and the mudslide.

2)‘Red Skies at Night’ by Diane Whiteside. Texas Vampire series. 4 stars. A NYC cop trying to find a notebook that can identify his partner’s killer. Turns out it was stolen by a vampira name Gillian. They join up on the run from the gangster who wants it back and end up trapped in a cabin during a blizzard. Great romantic connection. How Don Rafael fits in is cool. I especially love the ending.

3)‘Come Moonrise’ by Lucy Monroe. Children of the Moon series. 5 stars. A beautiful, original storyline. Very interesting detailed explanations of werewolf life, but Ty needs to learn how to express himself better. I cried and cried. His family is interesting. I’m thinking about adding this series to my TBR list now. Fave scene: Ty’s mother’s ultimatum to the pack leader.

4)‘Beyond the Limits’ by Susan Kearney. 5 stars. Sounds like Ms. Kearney is playing in Ms. York’s world (or is it the reverse). Both stories have the same New Atlantis background. This one has an Atlantian named Ari kidnapping his soul mate: Samantha: a very wealthy businesswoman. He takes her to a deserted island so he can teach her shape shift like he can. His shape shifting is fascinating and I love him teaching her how to do it. Fave scenes: the sea turtle and flying in the storm.

I loved the stories. I hope to find more on the New Atlantis stories.

You began with a dream of his mate, soul mate. But there is a witch who is making it hard for them to be together, driving them apart.
So, what does our genius of a man do? Try to trick the woman in to falling for him in real life, NOT telling her that “yes, I was in the dream” & “yes, we do know each other.” Plus “no, you are not crazy.”
All to save his island … men.

Believe that he should NOT be soul mates with a mortal. Our Master Vamp does everything in his power to scare off this determined lady … who wants nothing more than to find her sister. Plain & simple.
This Master Vamp does EVERYTHING to drive this woman nuts!

She has loved him from the time she met him. And he has loved her but as a wolf, he cannot mate with her because it will be for life … only she doesn’t know. But of course they (his family) thinks she knows.
It’s her way or no way … and it tears him to a part. Will he pull his head out & figure out not all women run? Or will he let his true soul mate go?

More about New Atlantis. She is kidnapped, brought to a deserted island & told she is “special.” Like he is … she believes she is seriously drugged or something. But eventually begins to come around to his thinking. Will she go all the way or is it a ploy to get off the island?

I read one of the stories in the Anthonly Unleashed. I read Come Moonrise by Lucy Monroe. I only wanted to read Lucy Monroe story because I had read two books from the Children Of The Moon series and I really enjoyed them.
Come Moonrise by Lucy Monroe is about Frankie going back home to either get over her true love (Ty) or start a relationship with him once and for all. The only thing is that the full moon is in thirty-two hours and she doesn’t know that not only is she going to be in a relationship but that she will become Ty’s Sacred Mate. I love how Lucy Monroe uses telepathy between the characters so that Ty can communicate with Frankie in his wolf form once they are mated. I enjoyed this story but I only gave it a 3 star because I like the male to chase the female not the other way around. It kind of did seem that Frankie raped Ty.
I would love that Duke (Ty’s Brother) had a story. I have search to see if Lucy Monroe gave Duke his story but I couldn’t find anything. I would love to see Duke happy since he seems to be hurting and in a bad mood all the time. I don’t know but I kind off would like to see Duke with Olivia. I do love the unity that both brothers share.

Bond of silver - Rebecca York /5 -

Red skies at night - Diane Whiteside 2/5 -
Part of the Texas Vampires series, I am having a hard time with this series, I wanna like it, I just can't get into it.

Come Moonrise - Lucy Monroe 4/5 -
Children of the moon universe, I really liked this story... but not sure how it is a prequel for books later that are in the past. I was hoping that there would be more in the following books following King's pack. Personally BFF or not if some dude talked to me the way he did to her on the night of their mating. His butt would have been talking to a "stone wall" it would not have been pretty, and he deserved every second he got of guilt for trying to pass off blame. And Like what happened with his brother and Leah? Did Marigold get her teeth handed to her as she deserved? What happened when the pack found out about the sacred mating and how did they handle the swing to new rules? How did King deal? Inquiring Minds wanna know. lol But instead of moving forward we are obviously moving into the way back past. Huh...

Rebecca York and Susan Kearney wrote different stories on the same Atlantis idea. I like both authors, but York's version was better. It had an interesting story line and characters. You could see why the Claire acted the way she did. There was emotional depth and progression. Kearney's effort was missing emotion. It was also missing a reason for Samantha to act the way she did. Kearny's character just were not deep and their relationship lacked fire. This was more evident because of York's story being in the same book.

Diane Whiteside's story was unusual in a very good way. The characters had depth and emotion. They acted with purpose and desire. The reader could feel the heat between them. This story made me want more by this author. This story I would give four stars.

Lucy Monroe gave her shifters emotional conflict while showing them as family and pack. Ty and Frankie had a history. They also had desire and heat even though they fought their feelings.

A book that I enjoyed but not a great one.

This is an anthology of 4 authors.
The first story is about a man from New Atlantis who finds of his soul mate in a dream search and when he wakes, he goes to get her. This is the first story about Atlantis (old or present) I had read and I found it interesting.
The fourth story was also about New Atlantis and I enjoyed it as well.

The second story was a Texas Vampire story.

The third story is my favorite of the four. Lucy Monroe's "Come Moonrise" has werewolves similar to her Scottish historicals, but this one is a contemporary story set in Montana. Ty and Frankie are best friends and she's been in love with him since she was 15, but he's a werewolf and he's never told her. She's moved away and tried to move on, but that hasn't worked and when she comes home to give it one last chance they get trapped in a snowstorm together as the moon is changing. Ty is a strong alpha male, the kind I love to read about.

A fun anthology with a couple authors I hadn't read before.

Bond of silver - Rebecca York 3 stars
It starts great, with a hero part of Atlantis looking for his mate through dream, but the ending feels rushed, and I don't care for lust at first sight.

Red skies at night - Diane Whiteside 3 stars
Part of the Texas Vampires series, an interesting story about a cop allying himself with a thief vampire to put down a mob vampire. Some possible problems were talked about at first then forgotten.

Come moonrise - Lucy Monroe 4 stars
A contemporary tied to the Children of the moon universe, with a pig headed hero who discovers he can't resist his true mate even if she's his human best friend.

Beyond Limits - Susan Kearney 2 stars
Another hero coming from Atlantis (or New Atlantis as it's called here) looking for his soulmate, this time with shapeshifting, kidnapping, and lust at first sight. Longer would have been better for me to accept the heroine changing her mind about everything.

This book contains four stories. Thankyou to one of the author's LUCY MONROE for sending me this book to read and thanks to Goodreads also. I was given a free copy to review.

This book was not what i was expecting, it was way better. This was a very rewarding read and i don't regret spending my time reading it. I will certainly give it another read down the line.

I hadn't heard of any of these authors previously but now i am really interested in reading more from them. There are already so many reviews detailing story plots etc and so i will spare you from another but i will say that if you just need a decent read, then give this book a go!

No entanto, ela ainda é meio histérica. O cara é um chato machão possessivo. Não achei o romance muito bom.

Mas gostei das explicações sobre as regras da alcateia e fiquei curiosa para saber sobre o outro casal do livro.

An anthology from 4 authors completely new to me. I enjoyed "Come Moonrise" by "Lucy Monroe", "Red Skies at Night" by "Diane Whiteside" was ok, and "Bond of Silver" by "Rebecca York" and "Beyond Limits" by Susan Kearney" bored me to tears. I just could not get into the whole dream/reality/shape shifting into turtles scenarios. If I had to rate each individually

Come Moonrise...4 stars

Red Skies at Night...3 stars

Bond of Silver...1 star

Beyond Limits?...DNF, definitely a first for me to have no desire to finish a story

I'm so not a huge fan of anthologies, and this book did nothing to change my mind. I liked Red Skies at Night by Diane Whiteside (female vamp vs NYPD Detective) and absolutely loved Come Moonrise (hot werewolf vs human female) by Lucy Monroe. I think I'm becoming a huge werewolf fan, who knew? The other two stories both had the same theme of a New Atlantean World (Bond of Silver by Rebecca York and Beyond Limits by Susan Kearney). I just couldn't get into the stories.

I was surprised to like this anthology, but I did.

My faves were the two middle stories, the one with the vampire and the werewolf. The two stories about Atlantis were just okay for me, but still decent.

A steamy anthology, which is not my normal type, but thought I'd try dabbling in the erotic paranormal genre, though there were aspects I liked, there were a few that got to me. I am too much of a realist to fall for some of these stories, but the romantic loved the getting there.
