Look Both Ways 9 Evolutionary Parenting Principles: Parent With Possibility in Uncertain Times

Rate this book
In this rapidly changing world in which divorce, mental health issues, aggression, and promiscuity among children are on the rise and education, economic prosperity, and life satisfaction are declining, families are in search of a new parenting script. In Look Both Ways, professional counselor and parenting strategist Tricia Ferrara shows parents how to stop using old scripts that define their roles as spectators and learn to actively participate by relying on core principles that can dramatically improve relationships, overcome behavioral challenges, and help a family reach its full potential. Ferrara relies on her clinical experience as well as evidence in neurological, social, developmental, and behavioral disciplines to lay out a step-by-step process that teaches parents how to build strong relationships with their children, lead by example, and encourage development. With a down-to-earth style, she addresses real-life issues that parents face with their children on a daily basis, including the lure of social networking, fierce competition among peers, and sexual temptation. Look Both Ways provides concrete advice that helps parents remove the blindfolds, cultivate their children's abilities to develop and adapt at any age or stage, and discover that growth can be an invigorating two-way street.

My book, Parenting 2.0 Think in the Future Act in the Now, is a product of 15 years working as a therapist. All spent listening to life stories that have detoured, wobbled, crashed, burned and been re-built. Too many were family situations that did not need to become full blown crisis. In almost all cases, if Moms and Dads had better information the crisis would have been averted.

As I looked around, it was clear that old parenting tactics would not work for today's families. By writing Parenting 2.0, I am providing something new. Insight and principles that keep modern challenges top of mind.

As a mom of 15 year old twins I'm living that reality as we speak! The journey has proven to be terrifying, triumphant and truly humbling all at the same time.
The book highlights much of what I learned personally and professionally about how important parents are in the life of a child.

I'm a person after the truth. The truth about why so many people appear to be broken when in fact they were just never built right.

It crushes me to see young people struggling without the tools to bring their gifts to the world. Given the challenges we face, I don't think we, as a society, have the luxury of leaving one scrap of talent behind.

My professional life exposes me to volumes of information about healthy human development and how to thrive. Too often, that vital information never makes it past the classroom door!

Parenting 2.0, changes that! I have used a combination of cutting-edge science, psychology and humor, to weave pragmatic insight into the development and lives of our children.

I want to help Moms and Dads examine the deepening responsibility of raising children in a world marked by perpetual crisis, and provide parents with a blueprint for connecting to, and guiding, children in an impactful way.
