Paramedic Jodi Duncan recognizes the work of a serial killer before the Myrtle Beach PD even suspects a connection between the deaths of two pregnant women. Despite the vast differences in the two cases, Jodi urges Detective Nate Quigley to think outside the box. After digging deep into the separate investigations, Nate finds no evidence to support a serial killer theory, and he warns Jodi to back off police business, which only fuels her passion for the cases.

When a third pregnant woman is murdered, Nate is named lead detective on the case and works to link the deaths in order to unmask and stop the serial murderer, a disturbed man who believes God and the devil battle inside his head to bend him according to their wills. As he fights both voices, his interest fixates on Jodi when he discovers her obsession with ending his rampage.

Chilling, nightmarish crimes chronicled with redemptive themes...

Imagine a sky full of dark, ominous, thunderclouds with howling winds and driving rain lashing down. Then, as you look out, just for a minute, in one portion of the sky, you see blue for about 5 minutes. Then the dark, threatening sky returns, but that 5 minute reprieve has reminded you that there is hope for the return of good weather. Maybe a little like the hurricane depicted in Final Trimester, grave danger looms, then you get a glimpse of relief, just as the progression of terror and hope and love alternate in this mind-numbing narrative. Though a chilling account of a deranged serial killer who targets pregnant women, underneath the terror is the underlying theme that God is present and waiting to reach out to everyone, no matter who they are, or what bad things they may have done. This theme is not flaunted nor heavy. It just breaks forth, like the five minute blue sky respite in a bad storm, and lets you know that there is hope beyond the horrible circumstances that life may throw at you.

At times I wondered about Jodi's emotional fitness for her job, why she couldn't see that she was no longer able to be objective and unemotional in her job as an EMT. Poor Quigley. He seemed between a rock and a hard place. Trying to do his job, keep Jodi out of his, yet trying to decide if she had a place in his heart. And the ending... Whew!! Couldn't have seen that coming if I had X-Ray vision! Wonderfully shocking!!

Fortunately, Final Trimester is the first in the Quigley Triplets Trilogy. I will be first in line for the next book with fear and trembling. I received this book from bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Hang on tight!! This is a high octane, fast paced ride of a
mystery adventure filled with thrills and chills up until the
very last page. This is a harrowing, intriguing and very
intense story. The killer is frightening because the killer is
patient, logical, a master of disguise and shows no mercy to
the victims.
Paramedic Jodi Duncan is the first to realize that the random
killings are actually the work of a serial killer. It takes Jodi
awhile to convince Detective Nate Quigley that is what is
really happening.
The author is able to get into the heads of all the characters.
This way the reader is able to comprehend the thoughts of both
the good guys and the killer. Completely riveting story!!
Throw in a hurricane, a touch of romance and renewed faith in
God and you have a real exciting tale. This is the first book of
the authors Quigley Triplets Trilogy.
Thank you to book fun.org for this book. My opinion is my own.

Extremely preachy. Promotes slut-shaming and paints unplanned pregnancies in a very negative light. Way too many mentions of God’s judgment of women. And beyond all the religious propaganda, it’s extremely poorly written. Repetitive plot points, redundant inner monologues from the main characters, and the most lifeless descriptions of action I’ve ever read. I couldn’t even finish reading this because my eyes hurt from rolling with every page turn.

Wow. What an amazing novel, one that could be a nightmare cut from today’s headlines. Final Trimester, first novel in Dianna T. Benson’s “The Quigley Triplets Series” begins with the mysterious death of a wife in her final weeks of pregnancy. Then another was murdered. Within the tale, we witness the killer’s thought life in which he believes he hears both God and satan, One for him and one against him.
When Detective Nate Quigley finally sees the pattern that seasoned Paramedic Jodi Duncan suspected, the serial killer begins to set his sights on Jodi. Nobody wanted her to step out of her boundaries as a Paramedic, but in spite of escalation of the threats against her, she just can’t ignore what is happening.
This is a well-plotted, tightly woven novel that is chilling in its intensity, gripping the reader and refusing to let go. Dianna T. Benson is a master craftswoman, drawing the reader in from the first page. The terror mounts as this Christian woman seeks God to help her through. Will Detective Quigley return his focus to the Lord for help? This intense thriller is not for the faint of heart…especially as we careen toward the ending with the stakes being incredibly high…
My favorite character is Paramedic Jodi Duncan. She is passionate about her work, relies on the Lord for direction, and wrestles through her challenges and broken dreams with His help. Detective Quigley is not one of my favorites until much later in the novel, as he gives the impression that he thinks himself smarter than even a highly-experienced paramedic like Jodi. Yet as his heartaches are revealed, this reader could more easily understand his actions – he is as wounded as Jodi, yet still in need of healing. Other characters that are pertinent to the story are perfectly developed as needed for their roles.
If you appreciate Christian thrillers – or even masterfully written crime fiction that doesn’t include language and unnecessary scenes of physical intimacy or innuendos that are common in mainstream mysteries, don’t miss Final Trimester. Ms. Benson writes with the best of them, blending faith and feisty characters together into a gut-punching culmination. I can’t recommend this well-written thriller enough! The only disappointment I had was finding myself at the last paragraph, leaving Myrtle Beach until the next in the series is published. If you read only one Christian thriller this fall, make Final Trimester your first and only choice and you won’t be disappointed!

Final Trimester, The Quigley Triplets Series by Dianna T. Benson

Before long she has caught the attention of a master of disguise and evil, Campden. Join Jodi and Nate as they fight to stop a serial killer targeting women late in their pregnancy.
Wow, I don’t know what to say. Dianna T. Benson is a great new author to me. This was my first book I read by her but I will be reading many others. This book started with a bang and just kept going. Intense action and suspense that will keep you at the edge of your seat. It also includes romance, heartbreak and healing that is only possible by faith in God . I LOVED this novel. I am looking forward to Luke and Abigail’s stories in the second and third books of The Quigley Triplets Series. I give Final Trimester 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone that likes Christian, Suspense, and Romance Fiction.

I want to give a high-five to the author Dianna T. Benson and publisher Ellechor Publishing House for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I am new to Good Reads and this is my first review! So I am glad it was a good one. I really enjoyed this book by Dianna T. Benson. At my library it was marked "Religion" but it really was not much like a "religious book", just a story that emphasized the importance of God in the lives of the characters. I think people who have dangerous jobs like cops and paramedics, and firefighters probably would find this a really familiar feeling.

I was surprised that the book's mystery was actually pretty dark. There is actually a horrible serial killer in the book who is killing pregnant women! And we see the viewpoint of the cop who is trying to stop him and the paramedic who saw the connection between the cases a long time before the police did. She and the cop are long-time friends who have both had some really rough times. Jodi the paramedic wants to believe that God has a purpose for her but she feels like she has failed him and thinks maybe this murder case is a way to redeem herself. Jodi is a really strong and kind character although she's also under a lot of stress. Sometimes her worrying made me worry too! There is a romance between Jodi and her cop friend but they do not let it get in the way of their work. And of course it is kept clean.

This is a pretty exciting story which has a positive message (but it is not preachy) even if it is about brutality, I guess the message is to stay strong even when there is brutality in the world. I hope this is not a spoiler but I was glad that Jodi was capable of taking care of herself in every situation! No help needed for this girl, except her faith in God! I would only have liked to know a little more at the end about what happened to everybody but this is the first book in a trilogy so I am sure there is more information coming!

Starting off making you hold your breath, not thinking this is really happening, Final Trimester is definitely a suspenseful novel! As a warning, pregnant women are being targeted by a serial killer. It says it on the back cover, but somehow my brain wasn’t ready for that. Dianna Benson writes with great medical detail, so it’s not just the police finding the dead bodies. We get to be in the room for most of the murders, getting inside the killer’s head. It’s a creepy place to be!

Mixed in with the crazed killer, we see subplots with a great medic and cop. Medic Duncan is working through challenges of wanting to adopt and Detective Quigley is trying to get over major family drama. What better than to connect two challenged people? As much as they don’t like each other, they are drawn to one another. Detective Quigley is the true protector and Medic Duncan is true independent woman. So, conflict arises. If you’re not much into romance, it is okay, we keep coming back to the crazy guy!

The author does a good job interweaving the characters and getting you hooked in their story. The end definitely brings an extra dose of suspense. Be warned, you may not be able to put it down towards the end. This book was a nice spin on a cop drama/suspense. I enjoyed having a female lead that was strong, but was able to accept help. This is the first in a series of three, but I think would be fine as a stand alone as well.

Final Trimester is my first book by Dianna T. Benson and I am hooked! Wow, just wow. Benson takes us inside mind of the serial killer and his battle with the voices he thinks are God and the devil—one of the creepier villains I have read in a while. I connected with Jodi on all levels. Jodi is a paramedic who gets suspicious of the death of a pregnant woman and then starts to see a connection between the deaths of two pregnant women. Jodi has been working with Nate who is a Detective with the Myrtle Beach PD for over a year. She tells him of her suspicions. Nate cannot find a connection and tells Jodi to let it go, but that does not stop Jodi from researching further. This instigates a communication link between them that was not there before. Nate becomes the lead detective on the case and he realizes the serial killer has Jodi in his sights. Diana makes her characters human even in a Christian book where they have made mistakes and are dealing with them. After reading Final Trimester, I realized Diane is going to be one of those authors that you never know what she's going to do next. There's plot twist and then there's “oh my gosh I can't believe you just did that.” There is so much more to share but I do not want to ruin any of the plot twists or surprises for you. I highly recommend Final Trimester if you like edge of your seat suspense. I also think it would be great for a book club discussion.

Final Trimester is a "what's lurking around the corner?" book that keeps the reader engrossed in unstoppable suspense. The shock value of murdered pregnant women in their third trimester places this story in a very curious category. Paramedic Jodi Duncan believes this is no ordinary killer, stalking pregnant women as they approach the end of their pregnancies, and murdering them. She crosses the line into police business which places her in a precarious position. Detective Nate Quigley becomes concerned enough to put his own job on the line in order to investigate similar murders in other states. The question is whether Jodi and Nate can perform in their own job capacities without being distracted by deadly circumstances.

Dianna T. Benson is a new author to me, and I was impressed with her capacity to engage me in her novel at the outset. The suspense continues at a rapid pace with unsuspected events that continue throughout the book. Her characters are well defined and portray realistic emotions and reactions pertinent to the storyline. I found it difficult to put this book down, and highly recommend it for a great fast-paced suspense with unpredictable developments!

I had the opportunity to read Final Trimester by Dianna T. Benson. Wow - I loved it! I was hooked from the first chapter through….let’s just say I can’t wait until the next two books in the series come out. It won’t be soon enough for me. What a terrific read. And I haven’t stopped talking about what a great book this is to all my family and friends who love to read.

It was a great blend of suspense, mystery, romance, and faith mixed together. The way Ms. Benson portrayed the serial killer - wow! My mind doesn’t work that way but it was fun getting in the mind of the serial killer for a book and then being able to walk away. It’s sad that some people are truly tormented that way in real life but fun to read knowing that “no actual people were hurt in the production of the book.” 

I absolutely LOVED the way Ms. Benson concluded things with the serial killer and Jodi. I won’t give anything away but what a great way to answer the question, “What happened?” She added hope to what appeared to be a hopeless situation and that was awesome. And wow - I wish I was strong and brave and clever like the main character.

This was the first book I had ever read by Ms. Benson but I am a HUGE fan now. I will be reading whatever else she has available because I am now hooked.

I received this book for free from The Book Club Network and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

“Final Trimester” is an awesome book written by Dianna T. Benson. I love a good mystery/suspense story, and this is both. It is well written, with fully developed characters. “Final Trimester” is a story about murder, and while not graphic, most of the murders are rather unusual. We have a killer, but don’t know his name, or where (and if) he has killed before…yet he is so very good at what he does… We have innocent victims that are trusting and sometimes gullible. There are also some awesome detectives and police officers that work hard to protect, serve and solve these crimes. The more they dig into the past of the suspected criminal, the more eerie it becomes, they must find him before he kills again!

I admit I had a hard time putting this book down; I kept rushing to finish what I was doing so I could get back to it. The story deals with some issues of forgiveness versus holding grudges, learning to let go of the past, and trusting in God. Also about doing ones job well, not just putting in your time. It is clean and easy reading. Dianna T. Benson has definitely written a winner! There are not many quiet moments in this book as the main character has to fight for her life!

Final Trimester by Dianna T. Benson is the first novel in the Quigley Triplets Trilogy series. Benson has written a gripping suspense novel that races full-on to the last page. This story will not disappoint. Dedicated paramedic, Jodi Duncan, harbors a secret from her earlier years which compels her to foster children and to seek to adopt a child. First to add up crime scene evidence and propose that similar deaths of pregnant women are the result of a demented serial killer, she becomes the target of his fascination. Detective Nate Quigley, fighting his own battle with the past and a tragedy for which he blames himself, slowly is drawn into the murder theory and into Jodi’s life. Each has reason to resist romantic interest in the other; yet, fate binds them to the victims’ lives and to each other. With her life on the line, Nate can no longer deny his feelings for her. Will there be a happy resolution for them or will a serial killer triumph? The reader will not want the story to end, but there is more entertainment to follow in two more books in the Quigley Triplets Trilogy. I recommend this book to any reader who enjoys a well-crafted thriller. I received this book through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.

Murder and obsession...

A chilling tale of murder and obsession. With more twists and turns than a curlicue. Just when I finally had a suspect that person turned up dead! Final Trimester kept me glued to the pages and I managed to finish all 400+ pages in a single day, actually more like late morning to late evening.
I didn't always understand Jodi's own obsession, dogmatically sticking to her theories even when the evidence was in direct opposition. But I did understand her desire to just get a killer stopped before he could harm anyone else. And when the killer is finally unmasked, well, it gave me some chills.
Dianna T. Benson definitely has an action-packed medical thriller in Final Trimester. It is quite a start for a series that sounds like it will only get more interesting as it progresses. Secrets are revealed on the last pages that leave the reader wanting more... This was my first Dianna T. Benson book and I'll be curious to find out what might happen next to the Quigley triplets.

Dianna Benson definitely has a winner with Final Trimester. A clever murderer of women in their third trimester of pregnancy has eluded capture all over the country. A clever paramedic starts putting two and two together and realizes there is more to the death of two women on her ambulance runs. A clever police detective begins to believe the paramedic may have stumbled onto something worth investigating. As these two long time acquaintances work together things really start to happen--more murders, creepy emails and terror filled circumstances. Emotions run high for both main characters as God is at work in each of them to resolve sorrowful issues in their lives. Can they forgive others and themselves to put the past behind and move forward in their lives? With romantic tension, suspenseful twists of the plot, and a very unexpected ending Benson brings a great book to her readers. It appears the book is the first of a trilogy and I can't wait to read the next one.

Incredible book! I could not put this one down! And I did not see the ending at all! I cannot wait to read the next books!

Jodi is an EMS, which she chose rather than being a doctor because she likes the variety from day to day. On one call a pregnant woman dies – which touches Jodi’s heart since, even though she is not married, she longs to have children herself. She even fosters kids and is trying to adopt. Unfortunately, the death of the pregnant woman is just the first of several. Nate is the detective who tries to find the murderer. As Jodi has ideas about the deaths of the women, actually, it even becomes an obsession for her to find the murderer before he takes out another pregnant woman, she communicates these ideas and suggestions to Nate. That does not sit well for him, or his boss or her boss and she finds herself in deeper and deeper water. But will the murderer be found? Who else will he target? Will Jodi get the child she longs for? Fabulous book and I highly recommend it! I received this book from TBCN in return for my honest opinion.

With spellbinding suspense, Final Trimester is one wild ride! I really enjoyed the intense storyline and at the end, I couldn’t put the book down and am anxiously awaiting the next in the series.

Nate is haunted by memories of the past and drowns himself in his job. But there comes a time when a taunting serial killer and a new found friend may bring him back to life. Jodi has decided God’s said no to her being a mother the conventional way so she’s going to give all she can with her paramedic job and her foster parenting. She has hopes of adopting a child but with a serial killer targeting pregnant women, Jodi’s heightened senses are consuming her with finding the killer. And then there’s the psychotic serial killer who has targeted not only pregnant women, but now wants Jodi, too.

Dianna Benson weaves an powerful and thrilling story that will leave the reader wanting more. Final Trimester, the first in the Quigley Triplets Series is a must read!

Final Trimester by Dianna T. Benson was a chilling, edge of your seat thriller. I will note that I was disturbed by the subject matter: a serial killer killing pregnant women, that being said, the author’s writing was riveting and kept me turning the pages. As I was reading, I was literally jolted by some of the events that transpired in this suspense filled novel. There were shocking twists and turns that occurred throughout the book and I did not guess who the killer was until the moment he was revealed. This story is about Jodi, who is a paramedic, and Nate, a cop, who want to stop a serial killer from killing again. Their hearts are at risk with each other and their lives are at risk when the killer fixates on them. This is the first of a trilogy, and the author sets up the next books nicely. You may not want to read this one before bed. It really is creepy enough that it may keep you awake. I received this book from The Book Club Network, Inc. (TBCN), however the opinions are my own.

This debut book by Dianna T. Benson was a real thrill ride, with a little bit of faith added in. I am accustomed to Christian books keeping the faith theme throughout the book, but Benson only puts in a little bit of faith and a lot of thrill and suspense. This is the first of a trilogy and definitely made me want to read the other two once Ms. Benson finishes them.
The plot is simple, yet twisted. Jodi wants a baby more than anything but doesn't have one. As a paramedic, she notices that pregnant women seem to be a target of a killer. He strikes without rhyme or reason and no one knows whom he will kill next, least of all the unsuspecting reader who is drawn into the story and made to feel the fear of the victims. The book is like a rollercoaster--it's a thrill ride that you don't want to stop riding! I read late into the night to finish it and can't wait for the next one!

This book had my attention from the first sentence! It is full of suspense and a little romance thrown in. Paramedic Jodi Duncan realizes that there is a serial killer targeting pregnant women. She is trying to, however, convince Detective Nate Quigley about this. While Jodi is convincing Nate of this, the killer strikes again. So this begins Nate and Jodi on a goose chase to find out who is targeting these women? This is the first book I've read by Dianna T. Benson but this won't be my last! She is such a talented author. I highly receommend this book to everyone especially those who enjoy suspense with a little bit of romance thrown in. I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.

I am impressed with this suspense novel. It is well crafted, full of action, has good character development, is realistic, and could be something out of today's headlines. There is an element of romance too. There is a Christian influence but the main characters are not overly religious. This is the first in a series and I'll be watching for the next one.

This story is absolutely phenomenal. Ms. Benson is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. This story grabbed my attention from page 1 and kept it all the way through. Ms. Benson's writing compares with Dee Henderson, Lynette Eason, Terri Blackstock, and Irene Hannon. Can't wait to read more about the Quigley's and other books by Ms. Benson.
