Silken Edge #3

Silken Kisses

Mona and Steven thought they were satisfied with their relationship but as they explore the world of BDSM, Steven begins having problems. Mona believes him to still be pining after his ex-girlfriend but Steven knows that his feelings for Mona are real, unlike what he had before.

It takes friends of theirs to force them to face their issues, and not in the way they had thought. Will they be able to adapt or is the relationship doomed? Maybe it will take someone else to show them what they’re missing.

This is the story of Steven and Mona. They have been together for a year now and have been venturing into learning more about BDSM and how they can satisfy each others needs. They come against a few dilemmas, such as their sexual frustrations in the bedroom, Steven learning more about Mona's sexuality, them both being switches, and having to come to a decision whether to bring others into the relationship to satisfy their desires.

This is a solid story. It is a very quick read. There was not mush angst, in my opinion, which was good. The author made their situation cut and dry. I wish the ending was extended to show more play with Roy. He ramped this story up!!!!

At one point, I did not even care about Steven and Mona's interaction due to the introduction of Roy. While Steven and Mona was blah, Roy was SIZZLING!!!! He was sexy, an alpha male, he knew how to treat a lady, and knew what he wanted. I kept wanting there to be more play with him. I was waiting for him to show his skills. Roy's decisiveness balanced out Steven and Mona's wavering attitude. There was more chemistry between Roy and Mona than with her and Steven.

The character development for the main characters was lacking for me. Steven was weak. He was missing in action (mainly at work) while another man was getting her hot and showing Mona what it truly means to dominated. I do not think he showed his dominant side anywhere throughout the story. The author made all the other men in the story more appealing than him. Roy and Jonathan were burning off the pages. I do not think Mona was truly bi-sexual. It just seemed like she experimented early in her life. I do not think that was a big issue (even though Steven made it a big deal) since she had not dated a woman in years, she was in love with him, and she had no desires to be with a woman. I did not see her as a dominant either. I was not convinced at all.

As I said before, this was a quick read. The greatest redeeming quality was Roy. He kept me wanting to read about him. I wish Roy had his own story.

I've never read a book by this author before however I'm always willing to give new authors a try, sadly Silken Kisses failed miserably to meet any of my basic expectations.

The plot was weak. It centered around Steven and Mona's sex life and nothing else really, we see Mona struggle to find physical gratification with Steve (an even weaker character than Mona honestly), upon which Roy, a seemingly pointless addition to an already exhausting plot, is introduced to attract the wandering eyes of this unlikeable character.

For the duration of the story there's much back and forth between these main characters to solve imagined issues in the bedroom, nothing about Steve was relatable, he came across as dim witted, insecure, pointless and a people pleaser (or in this case a Mona pleaser). There was no substance or depth to this "story." I felt nothing while reading it and was actually overjoyed when it ended.

One more thing, the writing was wordy and lacked finesse. Perhaps the editing isn't completed or the author chooses excessive wording to add length to her books, either way I didn't enjoy the effort. I can go on but I'll just end it here.

I do not recommend.

I am volunteering to leave a review of this Instafreebie book. Oh no! I had started this book, enjoying it thoroughly, when another book came up as a must read too. So I put this down for a few hours. My mistake was picking it back up at bed time. Yep, you guessed it; I could not put it down until after midnight, when I finished it. Working on four hours of sleep. Writing this review and then getting ready for work. I loved all three characters. The depiction of Roy, OMG! Oh, and the brief part with Jonathan had me swooning! This had aspects of kinky, but so sweet, and so hot! I would re-read this book, and have just added the series to my reading list. Thank you Laci!

Strong characters and a great story line. I just couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. I can't wait to read more work and more of this series by Laci. I so hate that I missed the second book of this series. You will love reading Mona and Steven's story. They are exploring the world of BDSM more and have run in to some issues that friends have to help them work through.

I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I usually finish all kind of erotica I choose, even though the story might not be as good as the cover look like. This book ain't reaching the level of normal erotica. The beginning is quite interesting but after a few chapter, it starts to get boring. There are no levels in the story and it is surrounded bout how Mona and Steven solved the problem around sex. Overall not quite reach my expectation. This book happens to be boring to me, indeed very boring.

Silken Kisses by Laci Paige. I've read a past book in this series, enjoyed it and this one hasn't disappointed me. I enjoyed reading more about the characters, the spicy content and storyline. I hope to read more by this author in the future.

When I first opened the book I was like, I don’t know if this is for me. Then I was like oh, husband. Get naked! We’re trying something new tonight. This wasn’t my typical cup of tea, but sometimes it’s good to change things up, right?

The cover is gorgeous, as soon as I saw it, I needed to know more. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. But the last few books I’ve read have been a little cookie cutter and boring. I needed something different – an author I’m not familiar with and a book about BDSM.

I was nervous going into this. When I read, I relate to the characters; I see myself in their shoes and I worried this might get darker than I’m comfortable with. However, I had no reason to worry. In fact, although some scenes weren’t things I would be comfortable trying myself (the broom closet for example) I was struck by the level of caring and trust the characters extended to each other.

If you’ve read my other reviews, you might have realized by now how important emotional intimacy is for me. I’m all for a good sexy scene but I need to believe the characters are enjoying it, otherwise it’s just awkward. This book brings the emotional connection I need to see. Not only that, but it brought it in a way I haven’t seen before.

Laci Paige gave us a very honest look at a problem many people have in the bedroom. She gave us a solution, many people would think is too taboo to even consider. While at the same time making sure I as a reader could relate to the characters to such an extent that had I been in those situations, I’m sure I would have made the same choices. Not an easy thing to do.

I love books featuring a strong female. At first I wasn’t expecting Mona to be so strong but by the end she found herself and it was remarkable to watch that transformation. I didn’t relate to Steven as much as I wanted to however, Mona more than made up for it.

There was one thing I didn’t like about this book and that’s why I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5. Mona tells Steven she once dated another female. Steven decides he needs time alone to process the information, Mona starts worring about how he’ll see her now. It feels strange for a book that deals with the BDSM subculture, which from my limited understanding is overwhelmingly accepting of all genders, body types and sexual orientations, to act like being bisexual or gay is anything other than normal much less something to be ashamed of.

I should also probably mention Silken Kisses is the third book in a series. I didn’t read the first two, and I was still able to follow the story pretty easily. It seemes the characters over lap but the story itself can be read as a stand-alone.

Silken Kisses is a well-written, engaging read that I would recommend to everybody but my mom.

This is the first time I have had the pleasure of reading Laci Paige's work and oh my! Silken Kisses is steaming hot with a little drama and some major emotions thrown in.

When I first started reading this book I was not sure that Mona and Steven were going to make it as a couple. They were experiencing a few problems with intimacy. Mona and Steven really do love each other though and they want to make their relationship work. So they try BDSM and they try different things with the BDSM. I don't want to tell you too much but I will tell you that maybe you better grab something cold to drink because things do get a little warm, OK really warm!

I really liked the friendships that are formed in the club they are in. It's nice that everyone is always willing to help each other. Whether is be something personal or if they just need to talk. These friends really do have a nice bond.

There is also a little drama and plenty of emotions included in this storyline that kept me turning the pages quickly. It was interesting watching Mona and Steven try different things and for their relationship to change as the story goes on. I don't want to tell you too much about the storyline because then what fun would that be for you.

This book is part of a series and I have not had the pleasure of reading the rest of the series but I did not have any trouble reading this book as a stand alone. However after reading Silken Kisses I would love to read the previous books and find out the other couples stories.

If you are looking for a hot and steamy read with emotions and some drama thrown in the mix I think you will enjoy this book. I know I did. Like I said though don't forget to grab the cold drink because this book is HOT!

Remember this book does contain some BDSM so if you don't enjoy reading those types of stories this one may not be for you. However if you do enjoy reading BDSM, what are you waiting for? Grab your copy now!

I really liked Laci Paige's writing style. She has a nice smooth pattern that made the story easy to read and enjoy.

I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Silken Kisses.

I have come to expect the romances for Ms Paige to be more on the real life side of things, more drama than a typical romance. Not what I usually love, but they hold a certain appeal.

The BDSM in these books tends to be darker and a bit on the rough side. Lots of scene work to keep the imagination reeling!

I wasn't sure I wanted to know about Mona and Steven, they were secondary in the first book of the series and easily forgotten. I went into things with an open mind and really found them to be more interesting than first blush would imply. There are a lot of intriguing elements introduced throughout the story.

Again things are less than monogamous and that is not always something I enjoy. I did like exploring the bi-sexual nature of several characters.

Plenty of hot and smexy scenes throughout the book. It is made even better if you listen to the audiobook narrated by Rex J. Silverton. He is uber delicious to listen to, especially when he goes all commanding Dom voice. He has a yummy rumble to his deep voice that hits all the right notes in this spicy read. The female voices are a touch breathy, but not overdone like other narrators. I could listen to him all day long, in fact I did!! I usually speed up my audiobooks but this one I took nice and slow savoring every smexy word!

Overall, this series is a really interesting find. Not my typical romance, but very interesting. Well written and very real life sort of drama and emotions. I am curious what will be next!

Silken Kisses is about having an intimate relationship. Mona and Steve have been satisfied with their relationship in the BDSM world until Steve started having issues. Mona believe that Steve is still in love with his ex-girlfriend until Steve declared that he loves her.

Mona has kept her sexual past from Steve while Steve is trying to figured why he physically loses interest with Mona. Steve knows he is in love with Mona but he can't sexually pleasure Mona.

The good thing is that Steve and Mona have good friends who are willing to give Steve and Mona therapy in figuring out which roles do they play in their relationship: submission or dominate. Steve and Mona also thought that having a menage de trois might help their sex life. Having a threesome does temporarily help Steve and Mona but it doesn't address their issues. It is a question of whether both are going to assume different roles in their relationship.

The narrator Rex J. Silverton, did a pretty good job for the characters. I did enjoy listening to his narration and his voice did keep me entertained. I would love to listen to his voice again in the Silken Edge series.

I was given this book by the author/narrator via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.

--I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Since this was given to me, I did not have the chance yet to listen to the first to in the series. This book was fine as a stand alone story, though I do think there may be some good history from the first two that would be helpful for the background of the friends. This was an easy listen, Steven and Mona I have found to be intriguing. I loved that they would do anything to make their relationship work. They were not afraid to try just about anything to find their happy medium. The supporting cast at the gym, Christi, Jake, Roxie and Roy were helpful to them, always had an ear and a shoulder. Roy proved to be not only there for Mona, but you just want to get to know him so much better. He is full of charisma and warmth, much more than I felt from Steven. Definitely made him a huge draw for Mona.

Rex J Silverton...I cannot say what a great voice he has for narration. He makes this book flow easily, distinguishes between the characters, and does a female voice very well. But most of all, the richness of his voice is perfect for the sexiness of this book.

Audiobook

Narration - Rex J. Silverton - OK. He has a deep smexy voice.

I'm kinda torn on this one. I enjoyed it. Enjoyed Steven and Mona's relationship, Steven and Mona are a great couple, but Steven starts having some sexual dysfunction! With a little help from some friends, they soon figure out that he can keep it up when Mona gets all Domme on him, but I'm still a little confused. They went really quickly into exchanging their D/s roles. I didn't really get a sense that he was stimulated by being lead around by a leash or that he needed dominance anywhere but in the bedroom. I loved the introduction of Roy into their relationship and that's what I was waiting for, but we get a minuscule taste of that action and are really left hanging in the end. To me, that was the point of the whole book, so give me some more of that lovin!

It's a hot little book but could be even hotter!!!

I love this series. This is Mona and Steven's story, and what a story it is! They love each other so much and have some problems in the bedroom. They both have a lot to figure out and come to terms with. What they are dealing with, would really test just about any other relationship. But the love that they do have for one another gets them through it. They both want and need the same thing in the bedroom, but can't both do it at the same time. (sorry I'm being vague, but I don't want to give anything away, you'll just have to read the book :)) They both seek advice from others and that does help. They know what they both need during playtime, but can they both accept it and go from there? I can't wait for the next book! Laci is amazing at writing these BDSM books.

The third book of the Silken Edge series focuses on Mona and Steven’s story. The couple has been exploring BDSM lifestyle but lately they seem to have sexual problems and they both end up talking to Kristy about it and asking for help. Kristy is about to give birth and so Roy jumps in to take care of the gym and from what it seems of Mona and Steve’s problem. The story becomes a threesome and the author narrates a triangle of inter-exchanging dominance and submission.

In this book the author focus more on exploring this unique triad and I would say fails to develop her characters in depth.

If you are into hard BDSM I think you will enjoy it. If not you may be shocked by the hard multi-role sex scenes.

Ms Paige does it again. Page by page you fall in love with the characters and want them to get their happy ending and speaking of the ending I would just like to say she shocked me by ending it that quickly. I do hope to see another book exploring what happened after this one and if the pairing ends up well. I like the fact that the characters from the previous books helped guide these two down the path that they needed even though they might have not been friends. Cant wait for the next from this lovely author. Cheers.

I love this series, although I had my doubts of Steven and Mona having their own story.. So glad I was WRONG! Steven and Mona are deeply in love, but their mutual need to submit is causing massive relationships problems. Steven grows and changes in this novel, and I loved following their journey.

Roy, oh Roy-- Where to begin? WOW, I hope there's lots more of you in this series!

This can be read as a stand alone, but it's better if you read the others as all your faves have appearances.

This book was so hot that I had trouble putting it down, my imagination just kept getting ahead of the story. Unfortunately my excitement about being a fly on the wall when the true relationship started was squelched when the book ended a little too abruptly for my liking and left me feeling cheated. As one other reviewer mentioned 'the ending was really just the beginning'.

The third book in the Silken Edge Series did not disappoint. This one focused on the relationship between Mona and Steven. He can’t seem to stay in tuned with Mona during sex and feels they are lacking something in the bedroom. That’s where Roy comes in. There isn't much to say without giving away the story. Looking forward to reading the fourth story in the series.

This was a really quick read and while I quite liked it for me it would have been better if it was longer as it felt like something was missing. It was still worth a read and I did like the characters and their exploration of the BDSM lifestyle

Cocktails and Books Review

Original Review Published here: http://www.cocktailsandbooks.com/revi...

Mona and Steven are in love with each other. They are looking into the future with each other. They live together and begin to explore the world of BDSM together. This is where both Mona and Steven come into problems. It was apparent right from the beginning that Mona and Steven love each other however, they don’t seem to be able to find the right kink together.

I found it hard to get to know Mona and Steven independently because this book was more focused on the relationship between Mona and Steven than who they were independently. The chemistry between Mona and Steven is blistering. I loved seeing how hard both worked to make their relationship work when many would have walked away. I enjoyed seeing the hard work and open minds both Mona and Steven had when it came to their sex life.

Roy Colton is a mysterious person that seems to be attracted to both Steven and Mona. Roy is bisexual however no one knows about it unless Roy is comfortable about telling them. He is a private person. Roy is also a dominant person who has the ability to help Steven and Mona with their issues in the bedroom. I wish we got to know him more.

Silken Kisses is the third book in the Silken Edge series by Laci Paige. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I found this book well written with interesting and fascinating characters. My biggest issue with this story was the ending left you hanging. Do Mona and Steven take a third person into their relationship? It did not seem finished. The book ended where I would have put the story about three-fourths of the way through. Overall, this was a great book. I hope we get the answers in the next book in the series.

This is book three in the series. You can read any of the books as a standalone, but it's more fun and informative if you read them in order. There will be a total of five books. Enjoy! :)
