Hector Malot
550 books265 followersHector Malot was a French writer born in La Bouille, Seine-Maritime. He studied law in Rouen and Paris, but eventually literature became his passion. He worked as a dramatic critic for Lloyd Francais and as a literary critic for L'Opinion Nationale.
His first book, published in 1859, was Les Amants. In total Malot wrote over 70 books. By far his most famous book is Sans Famille (Nobody's Boy, 1878), which deals with the travels of the young orphan Remi, who is sold to the streetmusician Vitalis at age 10. Sans Famille gained fame as a children's book, though it was not originally intended as such.
He announced his retirement as an author of fiction in 1895, but in 1896 he returned with the novel L'amour Dominateur as well as the account of his literary life Le Roman de mes Romans (The Novel of my Novels).

Pas du tout ce à quoi je m'attendais, mais une excellente surprise quand même. C'est écrit avec beaucoup d'humour et de second degré, ce qui contrebalance très bien le côté naïf et simpliste de l'histoire en elle-même. Il n'y a pas vraiment de méchant, l'antagoniste principal est trop hilarant pour vraiment mériter ce qualificatif, et même l'affreux grand-père trouve une sorte de rédemption à la fin. Même les adjuvants sont à mourir de rire, honnêtement.
Du pur roman d'éducation TGCM fin 19e, donc, mais avec plusieurs niveaux de lectures et une fraîcheur bienvenue dans sa manière d'utiliser les tropes de l'époque. Et en plus ça se lit tout seul !

Had iets meer van dit boek verwacht.. Tenslotte was "Alleen op de wereld" van Hector Malot voor mij hét boek, waardoor ik van lezen ben gaan houden en daar wordt dit boek ook mee vergeleken. Het begon wel leuk, maar het einde vond ik slapjes, te zoetjes. Hij heeft de spanning er niet in kunnen houden tot aan het einde, wat jammer!

Νιώθω λίγο περίεργα γι' αυτό το βιβλίο. Την πρώτη φορά το παράτησα απ' τις πρώτες σελίδες. Μετά κάτι με έσπρωχνε να το συνεχίσω... Είχε κάτι ενδιαφέρον... Και όντως, έκρυβε κάτι πολύ καλό! Μα κάπου χάθηκα στη μετάφραση... Θεωρώ πως κουράζει πολύ τον αναγνώστη. Κατά τα άλλα, για κάποιον που μιλάει γαλλικά, πιστεύω πως το πρωτότυπο θα είναι ένα μικρό διαμάντι!
