A pulse of light preceded the gift of life breathed into the coldest and darkest of souls. Bathed in the glow of celestial love and swathed in a blanket of black satin wings nestled a king among kings, a vampire born to destroy the decay threatening to eradicate the race he was destined to save.
An angelic heart torn by yearning, suffering and pain throbbed to the rhythm of the life he created; a life prophesied in the scriptures by the Creator’s own hand. A vow of servitude given in blood sealed the fate of a Seraphim's heart and tied it eternally to the creation he craves, protects…loves.
Ancient treaties are lost and reborn, rising from the ashes as the Nephilim ravage the vampire race. The deviant desire that soared in Malachi Denali's blood threatens to bring Rome to its knees when Malachi's world, his soul and his heart are brutally shattered and torn apart.
Will purity born of an angel's love be enough to calm the savage mind of Malachi Denali? Or will Laziel be doomed to a life of purgatory for loving the life he was gifted to create…
This is not a HEA, or even a HFN....Who knows what will happen to seal their fate...only time will tell. Vampires, angels, demons and wolves together with love, betrayal, sadness and yearning make up the ongoing story that is...
Aspiring writer and mother of two, i enjoy nothing more than losing myself to the rather mad cap workings of my imagination.
Blessed with some of the dearest friends, I have to admit that its through their guidance and perseverance that I am able to write what I feel and enjoy.
An avid book reader and a lover of long dark winter nights tucked up with a rather fruity glass of red and my partner in crime J T Cheyanne, we aspire to conquer the world with our love of Vampire's, angel's and wolves alike. As well as some mighty fine Gods and a deluge of hot Gay romance.
I don't understand this story. At all. I read the sample, wasn't too keen on it, but read some really great reviews for it on GR - I mean, the average of the story is 4+/5!
Did I read the same story? Surely not. While this story does have a really interesting concept and a pretty great plot, there were quite a lot of glaring problems.
First - punctuation. More than one person wrote this story, so how did the punctuation end up so forgotten about?! Was there no editor? There were barely ever any commas when needed. And when there was a comma, sometimes it wasn't even meant to be there! Every several dozen pages or so, there'd be pretty massive errors with the use of ellipses. I noticed it twice quite glaringly - one quite close to the beginning, and one about halfway through, near the shower scene I think. Where '-' was meant to be, the authors used '...' - wuuuut? I've never seen that mistake before. It happened multiple times too! So, the punctuation was shocking, and I'm used to glazing over punctuation mistakes.
Second - INFO DUMPS. The entire first half of the book is one massive info dump after another. It was boring. It was repetitive. It wasn't needed. The story would go back and forth between present and past with no indication sometimes - not even in the language. It was all in the exact same tense, so I ended up reading bits that I thought were present but were actually past, and vice-versa.
Third - Laziel. I love the concept of him and everything about him except for the execution of him (does that even make sense?). Firstly, I had a massive problem with how he is both male and female. Like, that's a pretty cool concept, I'll give the authors that. But the way that the authors executed it made me want to throw off my bra, swing it in the air and yell 'I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR' - ie, I got up on my feminist high horse a little bit. Only a little. But Laziel's woman half, 'Loz', was treated like a weak, inferior being. All the 'weak', soft feelings came from Loz - God forbid that a man is allowed to feel any gentle emotion! Oh no, that can't be possible! All soft emotions are, without a doubt, the woman's fault because a woman could never be hard and grating and belongs only in the house raising 2.5 children! It sounds more like Laziel is just making Loz up as a way to shuck off his gentler feelings. It just really, truly grated on me. Also, the concept of two genders in the one body (please don't get me started on gender theory; I'll never stop) sounds like these two genders would be harmonious and tied together, not like two entirely different beings in the one body. And another problem I had with Laziel was his continuity as a character, but I'll get to that later.
Fourth - is it so terrible to use the characters name? I can't quite remember what it's called, but instead of Laziel, there would be 'the angel' or 'the celestial one', etcetc. A bit of variation is good, but there was so much of it, that I would just get confused. And don't get me started on V(I can't remember the rest of his name because it was barely used) - he kept being called 'the searched for one', 'the lost one' or words to that effect. Over and over and over. It got tiring and sounded incredibly awkward and stilted.
Fifth - continuity. The scenes jumped all over the place. The characters jumped all over the place. The plot - actually, the plot was pretty straightforward. The scenes would jump from one thing to the next so fast that I didn't even realise something had happened, but then sometimes it went so bloody slow (usually when the authors were info dumping). The characters just weren't realistic to me, or at least Laziel wasn't. It was as if two people were writing him at separate times. Sometimes he'd be angry and ferocious and use fuck a lot, other times he was snappy and sounded like some kind of stereotypical woman from the ghetto from a bad movie (ie, that terrible email to D.D. that mentally scarred me and made me question if the authors were just taking the piss out of the story), and then at other times, he'd suddenly snap into angel-mode and be all wise and all-knowing. None of these characters spoke as if they'd live hundreds, even thousands of years.
Sixth - Darklon. Isn't he meant to be thousands of years old? He's an Elder, one of the highest positions in vampire society. Doesn't that mean he has the tiniest bit of intelligence in that shrivelled brain of his? Apparently not. He's meant to be the main villain yet his 'oh so devious and secret' plan was obvious, boring and dumb. I think I found deeper and smarted villains in the books I read when I was 6.
Seventh - repetition. Why did the scenes need to overlap, just so we could see everything from the other POV? Everyones emotions were so blatantly apparent that I already knew what they were thinking. And sometimes, I didn't even realise the scene was repeating itself for a while and when I did, I wanted to scream.
I should be so angry at this book for seeming so amazing, but misleading me entirely with forced prose and terrible characters, but all I can feel is confused. Am I read the same book everyone else is? Does no one else think that a celestial being signing off an email 'lots of love and kisses NOT' is incredibly childish and out-of-character? I don't understand and my faith in good slash fantasy novels is breaking. However, despite all this, I can't deny that the plot was pretty good - I just couldn't appreciate it due to the above reasons.
9/23/13: I'm almost speechless. I apologize in advance if I ramble but I don't know where to start. Wait yes I do. Lachi had me panting from the first chapter. Holy crap he's hot! He's angry, off-the-charts dominant, way oversexed (lucky for us), and obsessed with Laziel. Laziel is protective of Lachi, snarky, sensual, and completely in love with Lachi. And he doesn't think Lachi is in love with him. The side characters are awesome. Darklon is a villian you'll love to hate, while his "son" Roman you'll reluctantly love. The side storyline between Copi & Vischeral is going to be smoking hot, as well as the story between Roman, Tobias and Kimberly.
The curveball that the authors sent was completely unexpected and I don't like it. I actually yelled "NO!" at my Kindle and I've never done that. But I have to know what happens next. This is no HEA or HFN. The ending is a complete cliffhanger. Normally I hate that, but in this instance I will withhold judgment because this book is That. Damn. Good!
So Ms. Cheyanne and Ms. Moon: WHEN DO WE GET THE NEXT ONE?!
Update 8/16/14: Re-read to gear up for Book 2, Crimson Ties, and I loved it just as much the second time around.
Malachi Denali, the Vampire King was created by Laziel, an angel whose life and light was tied to his creation. Malachi aka Lachi has very dark proclivities and Laziel, his teacher, his protector, his lover will do anything he can to keep Lachi's demons at bay but will it be enough?
I've read plenty of erotica and BDSM stories and I think this is the first time where servitude and submission were extremely strong and I wanted more and I was probably halfway through the book when I was cursing J.T. Cheyenne and V.L Moon for the curveball they through in the mix. It's not very often I'm yelling at my laptop and my furbabies are looking at me like I've gone insane. But there was really no need to panic if I had just kept reading a bit further. Awesome ladies.. just awesome...
Crimson Reign the first book of what I hope many more of The Crimson Nights Saga has alot going on. It has sex, it has love and betrayal just to name a few. This was a great erotic paranormal story in my opinion but if you're looking for a HEA (Happily Ever After) You're not going to find one and usually I hate books that end in cliff hangers because you never know how long you have to wait till the next one. But this time..... I can't wait for the next story in The Crimson Nights Saga.
This book grabbed me from the outset. The varying threads of the stories held within it intermingling seamlessly to begin to create the complete tapestry of this wonderful and unfolding story. You are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions from the heights of joy to the depths of despair and sorrow. I await with much anticipation the next installment in this amazing series from two very highly talented authors.
Malachi (Lachi) is King of the vampires, created to save his race and bonded to a Seraphim, Laziel, it is his destiny to guide the vampires, but, the duty is wearing him down and without his angel to temper his dark yearnings he would lay waste to those that irk him. Laz adores his vampire, Lachi is his to protect but Laz loves Lachi with his every breath, a love that Lachi can't accept. With a rival vampire working with their enemies Lachi and Laz are about to face a challenge that the world may not survive.
Oh My God, this is a brilliant paranormal story that just blew me away. Lachi is being pressured to take a female mate and produce children, but he has no interest in females and only wants his angel. Lachi secretly loves Laz but refuses to say anything because he thinks he has too much darkness inside him. Laz would give anything to be able to love Lachi freely but knows Lachi would never accept his love or freely return it, he is caught in the web of his Creators making and can only take what Lachi offers. In the vampire world there are factions at work trying to bring Lachi to his knees but with the aid of others Lachi is trying to stop the plans, but finding proof is near impossible.
There are many things going on in this epic story that has you wondering how they are connected and the further into the story we venture the clearer the picture becomes, but there are still many unanswered questions at the remarkable Kindle throwing ending. We have two fantastic main characters in Lachi and Laz and believe me when I say that Laz has a very interesting surprise for you. We find out about Lachi's creation and his connection to Laz, we see a very interesting relationship between the two and some hot sex with a brief glossy overview of their BDSM relationship. But, this story is so much more than just Lachi and Laz, and I mean a lot more, as we are introduced to many more characters and little side story's that piques your curiosity.
While I would love to blather on and on about the storyline I won't, just because trying to fit everything in to a short review would completely do a disservice to this epic storyline. There are many characters that we get to know who seem to have their own stories to tell and we see brief flashes of these. Lachi's and Laz's story is complex enough without trying to dissect it to bring up different points.... but I have to say that the authors have woven everything together in such a way that it grabs your attention and won't let go, it fills you with excitement and frustration, has you lingering for that devouring powerful kiss and has you growling in righteous anger at the mechanics of an insane vampire. Oh by the way, the warning in the blurb about the ending is to be taken seriously!
I recommend this to those who love epic storylines, vampires and paranormals, an intense plot, great characters, devious intent, thwarting enemies, unspoken love and an ending that has you whimpering in protest as you squelch the scream of frustration that is trying to burst forth.
A super sexy powerful Vamp King and an amazing and equally sexy and powerful Angel sounded right up my alley. I was ready to be sucked into a good, solid paranormal series, and I was definitely not disappointed with this one.
It starts out with quite a bit of world building and back story. Lachi and Laziel have already been together for quite some time at this point in the story. I was just about the point where I was ready for it to move past all of that when it took the turn from explaining the story to the story currently taking place. Once this happens, I really got a sense of the relationship between Lach and Laz. It really is quite intricate, but suffice to say, they are smoking hot together. They each are willing and able to meet the needs and give the other much needed comfort. There is so much more to their relationship and feelings that it is difficult to express it in a few short sentences.
While there is quite a heavy BDSM element, I didn't find any of the scenes very difficult or involved. While you are not left in doubt about what is taking place and the scenes are quite intense, they somehow managed to keep things at such a level that I believe even a somewhat BDSM-shy individual could not only handle but really enjoy.
There is one aspect that was quite unique and one I thought was extremely well done. Laziel is both male and female (Lorenza or Loz), in that he can be one form or the other, though the male is his preferred form (and Lachi's as well). I won't say too much about this other than to say that I loved how it was done and how it was easy to follow who was present at any given time.
There is a lot going on here, with Lachi trying to hold onto his throne. There are bad vamps, Fallen Angels and werewolves, oh my! There is even a hot threesome with two vamps and a were (one vamp is female). Sadly, this ends on a bit of a cliffy and I was really not ready for it to end. I'm really looking forward to more and hope I don't have to wait too long to get it.
The most dynamic duo strikes again!!! Ladies What Have You Done!?? The last word in this book took me right out of my seat screaming!! Not that I didn't scream at other points in the book but WOW!WOW!WOW! I love you both as authors you are the absolute freaking best!!! To tell a story that great, to play off each other and agree what to put in and what to leave out. I don't see how it is possible. This story is about our beloved Lachi and Laziel. Their beginning and how they learned together and how they taught each other through the ages. At least that is how I saw it. I know Laz was grooming Malachi to take the throne as vampire King. Teaching him academics and fighting skills. Showing him how to be the best warrior so that there was no one better in the world. They are the original ying and yang. If not the world would have ended between the two. I was glad that through this first installment we got to meet many of the people we have only heard about. I can't wait to read more about them through the next installments of the series. All I can say is don't miss this series. This is going to be one of the most talked about series in the future. Ladies you better be strapped to a keyboard somewhere, with lots of coffee or tea. I want to see nothing but assholes and elbows from now on!! LOL!!
What an Awesome book. The different levels of the characters and the story line will pull you in from the first page. I set and read this book, twice in one weekend and I can not recommend this book more.
J.T. and V.L. have written a book that is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an actual 4.5 Rating! The first book in The Crimson Night Saga-Crimson Reign by J.T Cheyanne and V.L. Moon!
I loved how DEEP this book goes and not just your regular simple read! You might find it’s a little complicated but as long as you follow closely you will have no problems and love it like I did.
Melachi Denali aka Lachi is the King of the Vampires and was created to save his race. He is a very dominating and extremely difficult king in many ways but at the same time you want to just love him. He is feared by most, respected by all loved by only his angel Laziel! The only thing Laziel wants is to love and protect his king; he is sarcastic, highly sexual and his one track mind is only for Lachi! I love how beautifully written these main characters came to life for me and I couldn't get enough of them, I wanted more of their love! The only thing in life that these guys need to survive is each other and with the twists and turns, not as easily done. There are such complicated layers and developments that make reading this book so wildly interesting! The twists and turns will send the reader into fits of adrenaline.
Lachi is being pressured to take a female mate and produce children but he has zero interest in females just his Angel! Lachi secretly loves Laziel but he is afraid he has too much darkness inside of him. Laziel just wants to love Lachi freely but doesn't think he will accept his love or return it. To make matters worse there are sections of the vampire world that are trying to destroy Lachi but he will need the help of others to survive!
The other characters are also greatly written as Lachi and Laziel, such as Vischeral and Copi. They are such sexy and wild characters and look so forward to reading their story! Roman, the son, and Tobias as the sultry Alpha Wolf in a world of vampires. The authors took me a ride of sexual awakening, love, betrayal and a fantastic erotic paranormal read. I really liked the cliff hangers as I know more is to come and nothing more exciting than waiting for Book 2 in this hot series! I highly recommend this brilliant Paranormal Book!
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I was waiting for this story to come out and after reading it I'm not disappointed at all. It is all I was expecting and even more. The main characters make you feel part of the book, you can feel their happiness, sadness, rages, it's amazing how you can switch moods as fast as they do.
It's not often I find myseld inside a good book but darlings, you did it. I couldn't put the book down every time I got time to read, you know, Malachi and Laziel are hard to let down *wink*
Vish and Copi.. well what can I say, I totally love them!! I was lucky enough to read some of their story time ago and fell totally in love with them, I was wondering where they were and what were they doing... now I know and want to know more!!!
I'm dying to know more from all of them, even the very bad villain that plagues the good guys.
Then end had me yelling at my ebook at work so you can imagine my boss' face looking at me as if was crazy...
I totally recommend it if you wanna experience a very good story and I hope a very incredible saga.
When I found out that out that Lachi and Laz were getting their own book, I was thrilled. The moment I got my hands on it I jumped right in, JT Cheyanne and VL Moon did not disappoint. Once again I was blown away by their ability to create a world that drew me in making me never want to leave. I loved this book from the start, and I can’t wait for the next!
Ok, if you haven’t read this book yet, then the only thing I can ask is…WHY??? I mean seriously, this book is nothing but pure amazing. The story of Malachi Denali, King of the Vampires and his Angel Laziel is so special and one of a kind that is literally sends your heart racing. Malachi or Lachi was created by Laziel and is his perfect half. Their love is one that can’t be broken and is so true that no matter what it stands every test thrown at them, assholes trying to take over, secretaries with an obsession, hell even other fallen angels can’t tear them apart……. Darklon is out to destroy Lachi, and the main thing, or rather person, standing in his way is his Angel Laziel. Sworn to protect his King and lover at all costs. If Laziel had his way Darklon wouldn’t even be breathing anymore, but his duty first and foremost is to Lachi. I don’t want to say too much, but believe me when I say get this book!!! You will NOT regret it. It has everything, fighting, love, sexy scenes, yes even sex scenes themselves….hell it has Angels, Nephilims, Vampires, hell there’s even a sexy werewolf in there. Do yourself a favor and get it, BUT don’t read it too fast because the next book isn’t out yet, and if you are anything like me…you are gonna be tapping your toes and pacing the floors waiting for the next one. I am going insane waiting……..But I know the next one will be just as amazing, I mean, it has to be, the author is just amazing and would never let us down. Besides, a sexy assed Vampire and his Angel lover……What more could you want?
I Love J.T. Cheyanne and VL Moon. They are definitely one of my new favorite set of authors (as well as loving their individual work). To read the story about Malachi and Laziel has been a long progress to see all of their work finally come together in such a wonderful story. There are a few minor...mishaps I felt took away from the story. To me it felt like a thesaurus was used throughout the work when describing various scenes or Malachi and Laziel themselves. Other than that, I loved the two/three different stories that were told and interwoven with one another. Definitely was a fun and loving book to read. Can't wait for the next one to come out!
I received this book for free for an honest review. If your looking for a sexy hot story with awesome characters and a great plot check this book out. I was hooked from the first chapter. You will love the world that you get dragged into. This is a book that could be read more than once and still be an awesome read! Thanks again for letting me read and review :)
what can I say about this book. I am truly in awe of this book. Not only did it captivate me but I was held captive by it. The words the images that played out in my mind. I will wait with baited breath if you guys ever do write another book. I am reading this book again. Not only that I will forever be a true fan to your writing. much love and respect.

Review: 5 star!
General: I’m not the biggest fan of hardcore erotic novels because they have a habit of forgetting storylines. Not Crimson Reign! Crimson Reign is a nonstop emotion and passion filled journey that will leave you craving for the next one. From the start of this book the world building was exceptional and pulled me in. Every little detail was not only thought out but beautifully laid out. I personally felt like I was there and really didn’t want to be so immersed in this dark and dangerous world for some of the things!
yes yes it was m/m bdsm. Yes it took a little for me because I’m just not a huge reader of that. But the scenes were wonderfully done. There was passion in them as well as respect for the bdsm community at large. They were erotic but still tasteful. For me, maybe one to many but with such a strong story behind the romance it wasn’t a huge deal. There was also a mind blowing twist that if you’ve fallen in the love with the characters will mess with your whole day! The characters were originally and realistic from the created king to the naughty angel.
Characters: Malachi- Malachi (Lachi)was my favorite of the two. Created and trained this vampire was as dark and moody as he was sensual and loving. The connection between him and Laziel was tangible and screamed from every page. I wouldn’t mind a Malachi of my own!
Laziel- Laziel is a different breed of angel. Naughty. He is both pure and devious from one minute to the next. He for me was the true emotional holder for much of the book. He was a wonderful new twist on the angel before he was complicated and really only on the side of himself and Lachi.
The writing is very repetitive. A ridiculous amount of text is spent underlining Malachi's rage and violent sex drive and Laz's repressed feelings. Ok already, I get it. Malachi likes violent sex and Laz is all unrequited emo boy. This holds the same for all the characters. Their basic traits are covered endlessly, but it's the same basic content. When they get introspective, I scanned through that text.
The plot is interesting, but the writing makes this a difficult book to read. The author retreads over the same territory by rewriting the same scene from two different PoV. So you already now what happened but now go through it all again.
This book is in dire need of an editor. It reads like free fiction or fanfiction that didn't get edited before it was published.
The only reason I finished it is because the plot IS interesting, as is the worldbuilding. But there's so much extra, repetitive text! This book should be half the length it wound up being.
So basically our plot initially follows our two focal characters, Malachi(Lachi for short) and Laziel(aaka Laz/Loz). Lachi is a pure blood Vampire and King of the species and he is struggling to bring their dying species out of the "Dark ages" and into a modern way of living among the humans as equals. There is a war brewing between Nephilim(Angel Hybrids) and Vampires and lives on both sides are lost.
To make Matters worse, Lachi has a darkness inside of him that threatens anyone who comes in contact with him and his only outlet is his guardian and Mentor Laziel. But as the twisted nature of Lachi's inner being comes out and Laziel takes it all, the bond between the two begins to fray and by the end of the book there very well could be nothing left.
2. Writing(4.5 stars)
The writing is truly near perfection. I can fault very little. From the beginning page to the final word, there was not much of a lag or slow moment. It was breathless. The battle scenes were grotesquely described in perfection that made you feel you were there. The foreboding in the book that you KNEW something tragic was about to happen but you had no idea WHAT would happen. There were twists...turns.....shocks....It never really felt predictable.
The only main criticism is the secondary plot with Vischeral and Copi....We hear about Vischeral early on through past memories of Lachi and how the two met one another and the danger their friendship brought. VIschera later appears in the present, in America, with his own life and plot and my only complaint is, the plot was so good to me yet i wished it was showcased more than it was. It is introduced midway through the book(Starting with Copi) and we get so limited time that it was such a cruel tease
But i think that is the point, it was a slow build-up to the point where when the book ends you are left screaming but the Lachi & the main plot sort of feels challenged by the Vischeral & Copi subplot to the point where the subplot feels like it deserves a book of its own vs having to be secondary.
3. Characters(5 out of 5 Stars)
My goodness all 4 of the Main characters drove me insane and in a good way. I fucking loved all 4(Laziel and Lachi the leads and then Copi and Vischeral). The secondary characters at time sort of felt slightly tacked on...not bad. They served their roles and did them well but with so many secondary characters i felt they weren't given much to do except literally do their roles.
A. Lachi
He is the Character I love reading about in books. Any book that has a 'lachi" type i usually instantly love. It can be a crap plot(this book wasn't) but they always make me a fan.
He is our Main character and Protagonist but there is very few things you can say about him. He has a thirst for pain and violence and is incredibly cruel and intimidating and savage that there is nothing pure about him.
and that works....Lachi is not meant to be Pure. He is not the Hero you see in the book. He has elements you;d see in a great antagonist, except underneath every single bad quality lies a vulnerability. He is tough...he is bloodthirsty..Cruel and dark...yet inside him he has hidden his heart and feelings because he has seen what vulnerability does. It costs him those close to him. As the book goes on, Lachi's cold nature gradually begins to thaw. He is such a complex character. He is the perfect definition of a Bad boy.
B. Laziel(Laz/Loz)
I love Laziel but not so much for the character himself. The character himself did annoy me quite a bit because as tough, sarcastic and bad-ass as Laziel is....he did just as much whining and lamenting and inner suffering.
What makes Laziel so special is the fact he is two characters in one. Being an angel. he is neither male or female and thus can switch between genders. The complex way this is explain is that the Laziel part of him is the warrior while the compassionate and romantic side is his feminine counterpart, Loz.
He prefers being Laz(Lachi also prefers Laz) but as the book goes on, Laziel slowly begins to be driven mad and unravels and his will is broken and Loz begins to overwhelm him finding it hard to keep that nature of himself repressed. I love the fact that even though they are essentially the same character(Loz is Laziel just in a woman form), both characters are treated as individuals. Such an interesting concept....
C. Vischeral
As much as I love Lachi, Vischeral is definitely hands down my favorite character. When his subplot was introduced i was so ready to get back to his scenes......
Vis shares a lot of the dark traits that Lachi(without his Primal rage) has. What makes me love Vis more is simply because with his alpha male personality, he has such a vulnerability that makes him appear human but never weak. He had about 2-3 chapters but in those chapters I fell in love with Vis and his silent torment.
D. Copi
The only Human really(aside from the Pope) in a supernatural Story. If Vis is similar to Lachi, that makes copi the Laziel. But unlike Laziel, i didnt find myself annoyed by Copi. Maybe becaue Copi only had a couple of chapters but the pain of his life essentially being destroyed and having to start over and then meeting Vischeral and the slow torment....Being drawn to the vampire(and the vampire being drawn to copi) but not understanding why.
Copi(along with Vis) brought a sense of normalcy(relatively speaking) to the story and Copi himself brings in a sense of Vulnerability that Laziel had but the sense where it didnt solely define him...With laziel he comes off as Woe is me...With Copi he felt more "I am fucked but i am going to fight this as best i can...."
Secondary characters are OKAY.....Roman is probably my favorite Secondary character. I just love the innocence and naivety the vampire had and the slow realization of who his true enemies were. Kimberly was alright but she essentially was used as a tool by our main antagonist but then as soon as she was manipulated...it was rectified. Making her nothing but a plot device. We meet Arial who is another fave and quite 3 dimensional but his story is sort of delved into in the early part of the book and then he is sort of relegated to background character for Roman, Laziel and lachi.....We meet tobias towards the end and in all honesty, i could've done without Tobias. He wasn't bad...he just felt unnecessary. If most of the Secondary cast felt 2 dimensional, the tobias was 1 dimensional. He was arrogant and horny lol. That is literally his plot.
4. Romance(5 stars)
I use the word Romance as lightly as possible. The only sense of normal relationship is the one that is sort of explored with Vischeral and Copi....they dont acknowledge it but the attraction is such a slow build up to the point where it is beginning to reach a dangerous level.
There is another romance that delves from Roman and Kimberly where he is attracted to her and fallen for her.....but she is initially disgusted by him. They later reconcile....only to invite a 3rd party in. Tobias.....
This book is an erotica and i managed to read a Male/Female/Male threesome. Surprisingly, i was not too bothered by it. I am not really into Erotica(I read it for the plot not the sex) and I mainly focused on Roman/Tobias but it was.....interesting lol. Hence why I said Tobias was sort of irrelevant. He delivered bad news, Challenged Roman and then later partook in a threesome with Roman and Kimberly and is now in a threesome relationship with both. My only issue is that there was no hint of bisexuality between Roman and Tobias until said threesome. Up until then, they were both interested in Kim...then the threesome comes and well....lol.
The Most interesting and surprisingly i was not too bothered relationship is between,....Lachi and Laziel/Loz.
Not only did a read my first threesome...I also read a book that heavily features BDSM elements. Lachi has a rage inside of him and the only one who can tame that beast is Laziel. I'll admit...it was quite curious experiencing this. I've always wondered what kind of people partake in BDSM and how can someone truly be happy in that relationship. It's selfish because Lachi is solely focused on his need to release his aggression on a willing laziel...but Laziel wants more. His feminine half is craving LOVE and affection to balance the brutality and twisted nature of their relationship. We as the reader know that Lachi truly loves the angel but the doubt and his inability to show it, slowly break laziel down which leads to the shocking cliff hanger.
It is graphic. It is intense. It is breath taking and yet this allowed me into the insight into these type of people who have these kind of relationships. It is brutal and yet at the same time, with the desire of torture....there is a softness about it at the same time of its twisted nature.
I expected to skip through the sex scenes....I didnt read the book for the sex. But i read them, not for the excitement because it honestly made me feel like i was inside these characrer's mind. Laziel's desire of pain dangerously challenged by Loz desire of love.
This is not a romance with a happy ever after or for now.....it's a romance of how the hell these two will survive. Such a unique relationship...that taught me quite a bit.
5. Overall
I read an erotica....that has BDSM...Male/Female/Male threesomes...Male/Female scenes...Male/Male scenes.
Yet even in its most twisted nature it didnt feel gratuitous. It didn't feel like reading porn. It felt like you were really in these people's lives. I used to think erotica was trashy fiction, Maybe some of it is. But this proved to me, that as a reader, I don't have to shy away from stories that feature sex. I was worried going in there was going to be sex here, sex there..sex everywhere. There are probably 68 scenes in the story altogether or about 30 pages altogether in an otherwise 350 page book.
The plot is what makes it good...but this is also a character driven book. In fact not a lot is driven by the plot but the character's choices.
Such rich and unique characters, Great writing and a twisted romance with painful cliffhanger has made me a fan. I guess i am a bit twisted myself...i can not wait for book 2.
This is the first book in The Crimson Nights Saga Series. I wasn’t sure what to think of this book at first. There will be those that will not like it for the way it was written as for as the language and wording. But for those that this book works for you will find it complex and thought-provoking. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. The characters were well developed and thought out. Malachi is the Vampire King and Laziel is an Angel and they are the MC’s of this book and soulmates. There was Angel, Vampires, treaty, Vatican, traitor, Nephilim, celestials and so much more in this book.
Here is a quote from the book, “Dressed impeccably as usual and attired solely in black, the King, was the epitome of the fictional vampire portrayed in present day romance novels. The biggest difference was Malachi Denali would never fit within the romantic fables foretelling of whimsical female fantasy and love. With penetrating dark eyes, he possessed a fathomless stare cold enough to chill even the hardiest of warriors. He wielded the strength of Braun and a presence that overtook any room he entered. The vampire King was no one’s idea of Prince Charming.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Vampires mixed with angels and a hint of other paranormal’s, I just had to read it that much more. It was a well written story. I needed to read it at a slower pace, to get all the details that it had. The book to me was not meant for fast reading, or I might have missed something going on. It had action and other things to make the story well rounded, and keep my interest. Some characters of the story, were likable and some were not. The two main characters Laziel, Malachi had chemistry. It had light to medium BDSM. I can’t wait to start reading the next one. Will have to stock the author’s book for other books on their shelves as well. Thank you for letting me read your story.
Incredible book that pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me glued to the pages all the way through to the end. This book has a little of everything: sex, drama, love, betrayal, paranormal, just to name a few. All leading to a cliffhanger ending that has me running to read book 2! I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
Holy overuse of adjectives, Batman! DNF. Slogging through the meandering, flowery, melodramatic prose was too painful. If you read the prologue and like it, perhaps this is the book for you. I didn't, and it definitely isn't for me.
Laziel breathed his heart and soul into Malachi, the last pureblood, and king of the vampire race. Malachi depends on Laziel to help him control the darkness in his soul, and for centuries the two have maintained their secret bond.
Darklon De Sangue, vampire elder, vehemently opposes Malachi's progressive ways and is determined to see the king dethroned and the old vampire order restored. His cruelty knows no bounds, and he is willing to use whatever means necessary to bring Malachi to his knees. Roman, Darklon's long abandoned son, is suddenly recognized by his father and brought to Malachi's Italian enclave but is vastly unprepared for the political machinations of palace life.
Cophious Dane lives for his job as a New York beat cop. Like most humans, he has no idea that paranormal beings exist. All that changes late one night when he catches sight of a vampire feeding. Attempting to convince his fellow officers of the crime he witnesses proves futile, and he accepts a transfer to Alaska rather that face spending the rest of his career behind a desk. Vischeral Bourne never expected to encounter the one man who saw him when no one else did. His vampire side dreams of golden eyes, but dreams quickly turn to nightmares when he meets Copi, his new partner, and scents the one man his vampire can't seem to resist.
Crimson Reign is a paranormal adventure with an intense and complicated storyline. Essentially three stories within one, it is well developed. As the transition between characters, locations and plot lines are slowly drawn together the vision of this writing team comes to light. While careful attention must be paid to the smallest detail, the drama, intense sexuality, and raw emotionalism more than makes up for the effort that must be put into reading Crimson Reign.
With dark themes, and moments of pure brutality that may be disturbing to some readers, I would recommend Crimson Reign to readers who are fans of BDSM/erotica, complex stories and aren't opposed to the less than happy ending the authors kindly warned us was coming... I'm so glad I didn't read this until after Crimson Ties was released because I think the anticipation probably would have killed me!
Warning this book contains elements of extreme BDSM type play that while consensual is quite violent and may be disturbing to some people.
When life is endless and as you age you become more powerful instead of less what is to keep you from becoming a completely corrupt and unfeeling husk of a life form? The vampire race has started down this evil path and Malachi Denali was created to lead the vampires back from the brink and teach them how to co-exist harmoniously with the Creator’s other children. But how does someone who must be the very embodiment of strength, power and cunning show a weakness such as love and expect to keep his position?
I felt so sorry for the two main characters in this book. They both have responsibilities and have come to rely completely on the other in order to accomplish as much as they have, and now that things are starting to come to fruition they must trust their partner completely or lose them forever.
When you read the blurb and start the book it seems like the makings of a very interesting book except just as things are starting to get interesting a whole different set of characters are introduced that seem to have no bearing on the main plot line. When I realized this book was co-written it made more sense. It seems the authors took two story ideas and mashed them into one book with a tenuous connection to each other and just hope it would work out. For me it did not. Every time the storylines would switch I would get frustrated, I just wanted one of them to accomplish something but alas just more secrets and hidden feelings. Then just when it seems the characters are going to have to face their feelings the book ends with To Be Continued. I was so very frustrated and if the second book was not already out I may have refused to read anymore.
I am usually okay with HFN endings or even just seeming lull in action but nothing was solved in this book. There are no real questions answered and I was left with feelings of extreme frustration and almost betrayal that after such a long book nothing was accomplished. I will read the second book in hopes of redemption for this series since my curiosity is peaked as to outcome of the cliffhanger but I am hoping for at least some resolution at the end of it.
