June and her friend Gabby are the biggest fans of The Fringe, a super hot metal band out of SoCal. The girls follow the band around on as many of their west coast tour dates as they can and they'd rather die than miss a show that's less than 300 miles away.
When The Fringe's lead guitarist dies of a sudden drug overdose, the guys scramble to find a replacement musician. When word gets out that a mystery band mate has been selected, June can't wait to lay her eyes on the new sex god, and she can't wait to unravel the story behind the guitar player.
Things get hot and heavy when the girls get their hands on some back stage passes. But the new guitarist Silas turns out to be more than a mystery, and as June falls for him things start to get complicated. June struggles with her undeniable feelings for Silas, the burning passion and physical desire he elicits in her, and the fact that she's been chosen to bring him down, to reveal the truth about the guitarist once and for all.

When Brynn O 'Connor penned her first novel at the tender age of twelve it was so bad she put it away and didn't take a look at it for nearly 12 years. On a lark, on her 23 birthday, she decided to take it out and polish it up before sending it off too randomly selected publishers. The response she received was overwhelming:
"Dear Brynn, please don't waste anymore of our time..."
"Dear Ms. O 'Connor, please don't waste any more trees..."
"Dear Brynn O 'Connor, please don't!"
Needless to say Ms. O 'Connor abandoned her dream of writing in favor of a more practical approach to making a living having after receiving multiple bites from the acting bug, the singing bug, the painting bug and the golfing bug! But in the end they were all just multi colored splashes on the windshield of life and in the end she chose to marry rich and make babies.
The rich part didn't work out so well but she did end up with two beautiful boys named Ethan and Diego, and an abandoned cat named Chrissie who came by for a visit one day and never left. Turns out the husband was only temporary and the cat permanent; funny how life is.
Then one day Brynn began penning romance novels on the backs of rejection letters and the rest is history. She now lives in the beautiful San Francisco bay area where with the help of her cat she taps out her stories on her laptop and dreams of the day she can become an artist.
It sounds really good but the beginning threw me off. It made no sense at all. I think it's just to many ideas at once just thrown together. It made no sense fire me. She is standing in line for a concert n then she moves up in line to talk to a friend n the guy she was just talking to seemed to have their new CD that was just released at Target? Oh and her best friend who she was in line with also had the new CD too, but she was with her the whole time?! I gave up reading this. not sure what happened after.
I did manage to finish the book, I enjoyed some of the story lines but over all I found it was quite tame and at times parts did not make sense and were hard to follow.
From the moment I picked up this book, I had very little will-power to put it down or stop reading it for a second. The cover leads to be believe this book is about something it's not, and I actually love that. Broken Strings captures the characters of two friends who are over the top crazy about the band, The Fringe, and lead you through their emotional journey.
At first, you might think that this is just another romantic groupie tale about two girls, but in reality, it's so much more than just that! Friends, June and Gabby, The Fringe band groupies, get their hands of some backstage passes, and this kicks off their journey. The thing is, June is really a good person with a great heart, but some bad choices lead her to ruining her life and everything she has going for herself. I'm not a plot spoiler, so you'll need to get your hands on this novel to read their journey from getting those backstage passes.
The characters are extremely authentic, and you can really feel yourself being part of this story, and you climb into their lives of music, drinking, smoking drugs, sex, and rock 'n roll. It's an emotional, sexual, romantic roller-coaster full of twists and turns that you would never see coming.
The author really did an exceptional job in creating a gripping story that keeps you wanting to know "what happens next???". It's fast paced, intriguing, and leaving you breathless and wanting more. I was really impressed how much this novel offered and brings to the table.
This book gets a 4 star from me it's takes a while to get into it but I kept going and was surprised at how the story went it kept changing and left me guessing and I ended up liking the end of it. The characters are good and you get to know the main straight away. I saw the reviews after I bought the book and I was worried about what it would be like but I was presently supposed and I enjoyed it in the end.
